March and April Favorites!

Hello everyone and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe again! So, March passed and April is closing soon and you know what that means! Time for another faves post! I have been using a lot of stuff and want to include them in this post, so here we go!

Almay

Clear Complexion Concealer Plus Treatment: I love this thing a lot! I know I mentioned how I had the Maybelline Dark Spot Corrector in Light Medium for a little while and it was on my last favorites for January and February, unfortunately I have to stop buying that because it was too dark and didn’t blend with my skin well, it is easy to put too much, and it didn’t really get rid of the dark spots and blemish marks as fast as it supposed to but this thing is better! For one thing it comes with a treatment gel and it accts like what if you put on ProActiv or Clearasil except it stays on your face and then you put the concealer on top in the places that will be treated by the gel. It works really well and of course, it is perfect for someone with sensitive skin like all Almay products are made for. Plus, the Light Medium is actually what the color is and it does blend very well, especially when I put my powder concealer on top. So, good work Almay!

LipSmackers

Red Velvet from Cupcake Collection: I loved this one so much! It smells like red velvet cake and tastes like it! I even had to buy a sliced red velvet cake for myself from WalMart to help calm the craving! It also moisturizes as it is on my lips. I still have another of course since I bought the pouch with six cupcake flavors.

Thin Mints from Girl Scouts collection: Unfortunately I had to throw it out because it ended up being stuck when I checked to see how much was left after cutting it down due to it falling apart all the time, but this one is one of the best LipSmackers since it is based on my all time fave Girl Scouts cookie, Thin Mints! I like how the mint feels on my lips and seems to cool them down and does taste like them and smell them. Oh I can’t wait to buy boxes of these cookies again next year! At least I have two more of these in my collection.

Chocolate Buttercream from Easter Egg Trios: This is one of the best Easter flavors that have come out this year. Even though I miss my Purrfect Strawberry Cream but this one is equally excellent! It feels like you’re putting frosting on your lips but as a gloss balm form. I wish this was a permanent part of the entire line of LipSmackers because it is perfect and it tastes like cake frosting! I hope it returns next Easter!

Garnier Fructise

Sleek and Shine: I love this stuff! It was released a few months back and it keeps my hair soft and shiny! Not only that, it did help my breakage a little when I had longer hair and it works better than the John Frita spray I bought at Target at the end of last year. It still helps with my hair being so short now, oh yeah got it cut back to a bob cut! I had to buy another bottle recently because I ran out or close to it since it is such a small bottle but it squeezes too much all at once. Be careful of that.

Lush Cosmetics

Shine So Bright Split End Treatment: I had to use this while I had long hair. Problem was that I had split ends and had to get something for it. At first I tried getting a sample but lost it in the after Christmas crowds and then bought it off the site since I was too busy to go to the Florida Mall location and well, it is pretty cheap for a small container. Why so small? It is really concentrated according to the girl who helped me out and I can see why! I found it working pretty fast on my split ends, while I washed my hair when it was still long it didn’t look so broken! Now it’s cut, the ends aren’t splitting, but I will keep using it when the time comes! I am hoping it doesn’t gget discontinued since it works so much!

L’Oreal

Aquamarine gel eyeliner: I like gel eyeliners now since I have been using the Master Drama one by Maybelline in Eggplant. I was trying to get the Navy Blue one but Walgreens sold out after a sale and CVS didn’t have any on stock, guessing people bought them out. I did look into L’Oreal’s section to see what they have and they did have a blue one but known as Aquamarine. It is a nice deep blue and it goes with the Indigo blue eyeliner I have from Wet N’ Wild I have. I know you are wondering what happened to the Milani pencil liner? Well, I hated it and tossed it out alongside the purple one since I can’t stand retractables and preferred felt tips. I found this one and liked how smooth it is. If only they made the bristles on the brush smaller so it would go on the eye much smoother. I had to use the brush with the Maybelline one since I lost the one that went with it. Not sure if I will get the black one, but I still like using the felt tips, so I will stick with gel liners for blue and purple since they are available in this form.

Food!

Flavored honey: So, I’ve been loving flavored honey, I know it sounds weird but it does exist! At school on Thursdays they have farmer’s market day and they tend to bring fruits, vegetables, even handmade popsicles and one of them is a lady from a bee farm that brings her own honey. She has flower honey but what draws me to it is the flavored ones. They make my tea smelling good and also very tasty with its sweetness. The flavors I have now are Chocolate Hazelnut, which made me want to buy in the first place, almost finishing a bottle of Blackberry, Blueberry, Ginger Peach, Raspberry, and just bought a new bottle of Mint on the last day before finals. I found out where the honey will be during the summer downtown at another farmer’s market and will go there for more of my fave honey when I finish them.

Chocolate Almond Cherry granola cubes: Another item I did get was a container of these granola cubes that contain chocolate, cherry, and almonds! I love the taste of these and these were also handmade by another person at the market and was trying to get some for a project showcase but didn’t show up. I did like the Fruit Medley one and heard they will be at another market during the summer I hope! I haven’t finished these yet but will sometime soon!

Mango Hi-Chew: As you know, I love Japanese snacks and well one of the other stands is an Asian stand and have a shop of their own across the street from the school. One of the many things I picked up was a pack of Hi-Chew, which is a candy like Starburst but chewier and softer and one flavor I got and love this past two months was mango! I never tried the flavor and found it really awesome! I was addicted and yet I had to hold my cravings back because with my taste buds as a blind person gets really bad with the after taste. I finished them and still have a pack of green apple and strawberry ones and two packs of mixed ones that I got on the last day. I will be good until fall by the looks of it when the market returns or go by the store time to time.

Fruit and Yogurt flavored jellies: Anotherr fave treat from the Asian market are these little jelly things. I remembered seeing these at Donga Supermarket downtown and never was curious until I saw these at the farmer’s market day. I tried the litchi ones and they were good but I bought the yogurt flavor ones to try them at home and they do taste like yogurt! Then a week later or so, they had little containers with more of these but fruity and one of the containers was a cat bento box! I got it of course! The jellies in this are good but a little more slippery but still good! This is one snack I will get more of in the future and probably share, not sure how my fiance will feel when he eats one. Still, tasty and I can see why jellies are a fave of the Japanese!

Well, that is it for this post! What is next? Cosplay advice for Naruto cosplayers! Until next time!

Collective Haul: Target, Walgreens, and Cosplay

Hello everyone and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! It feels good to say that and also glad to move the blog to somewhere else! I thought Word Press would be better since it would be easier to read the posts I put up and the psting form is easier to work with than what Blogger has been doing. So, let’s see! Since I’ve been busy with classes, it was hard getting around to posting a haul post since I have been getting new products and a few of them are cosplay, so why not do a collective based on the cosplay items and make up I did get! Let’s go!

First is Target! I love going to Target because not only the staff is friendly and helpful, but they tend to have more products and lower prices since it feels like WalMart is rising their prices a little and of course they don’t tend to carry everything. Target doesn’t carry most of the stuff that WalMart does and same with Walgreens but I still like going there since I can find a lot of stuff. Some of the stuff I did got in the past couple of weeks include more of the Herbal Essences Honey I’m Strong shampoo and conditioner! I had to get more because while I carried my last two bottles, I didn’t know I had the shampoo bottle open in the bag I carried all my wet stuff in and it leaked and had less shampoo and ran out before the conditioner, so I got more and this time it is a bigger bottle which I do love! I love the scent of honey and hebs and it smells so good! It is like It’s Raining Men with herbs! I did get something that’s new for my makeup regiment and that is the Almay Clear Complexion Concealer Plus Treatment stick! I know I was using Maybelline’s Dark Spot Correcting Concealer but people I know thought it was too dark and it gets mixed as foundation and I tend to put too much and I do admit it gets a little greasy and it is hard to tell when I run out since it is a cream type thing. It also made my face itcy a little and didn’t clear the dark spots and blemishes I had as fast as this! I did some research on Almay’s site to see if they had something similar and this was it! It is better and different because it comes with a gel that you put on first on the spots that need it and then you put the concealer on the other end on top of the gel and blend a little. Then I put my actual concealer from the same line but compact form on top and blend even more, it helps this way since even though the concealer end looks like a powder but it warms to your skin when you put it on. Knowing me, this will be on my faves post next! Then I got three new lip products as well! Two of them are Cover Girl and the other Maybelline! First Cover Girl, I haven’t gotten anything lately from them and I heard good things about the TMega Twist Balm Tint, something like that, but I heard good things about these through favorite videos and wanted to try them out. At first I wanted to get Berry Twist but they sold out! Apparently these are popular especially Berry Twist. I know I should’ve gone to the Cover Girl section during my Walgreens run but didn’t! There is always next time, I did get the Plum Twist though since I wear plum colors time to time and well the disappointing thing is that these aren’t flavored or smell like their fruit colors, I wish they did! But I do like the idea of it being a balm tint! One thing I did get that I wanted for a long time and that is the Strawberry Splash gloss from their Fruit Spritzer line! I love strawberries and was happy that they have a strawberry gloss in this line and do like their Chocolate Mint one they made but the flavor of that one is way too strong to me, I do use it with my Double Choc lip tint from Lush, but the Strawberry one smells like if you are eating candy and it feels great! Another thing from Target I did get was the LipSmackers SPF 24 party pack! I am still trying to find the one for Paul Frank and can’t find it anywhere! If anyone has seen this thing, please comment below! I am open to comments! Anyways, this pack started coming out in time for summer since we tend to get suntan lotions and people are always saying use sunscreen and these balms have sunscreen which is good. You tend to get this on the site but now they are coming to Targets now and it is great timing! These do have the sunscreen smell but it is light in some and others a little heavy, but the smells that do come in this do stick out like the watermelon as an example, I believe there is one with strawberry kiwi and so many others! I may have to start using these since Florida is known for heat! Forgot to mention the Maybelline lip product! I finally got my paws on the Color Whispers lipsticks, well one, which is known as Pink Possibilities! Kind of like Purple Possibilities from their old cream eye shadow line but this is pink this time around. I heard so many good things about these things, especially with 11th Gorgeous who had a LipStick Haul they made. I had to get one after watching the commercials since they are lightweight and not so sticky, even when I tried it on and see how it was and boy does it feel light! I actually like this better than the Color Sensational lipstick in Sugared Honey since that one is heavy but Pink Possibilities is more lightweight. And the last thing I got was a new concealer brush because I was using the little pad that came with the Almay compact but there was a hole and decided to go with a brush. At first I wanted to go to ELF cosmetics because I heard so many good things about their concealer brushes since I already had the eye shadow one for times when I do a monolid look and do the lid colors with the quad compacts, but the lady pointed me to their brush section and a salon worker pointed this double ended one that was around $7 and it is doubled ended, one for the face that looks like a bbq sauce brush but it works pretty well and very soft! The other end is great for the eye area, which I do put the powder around it and it helps to get the tiny areas of my face and I did have a scab from when my fiance scrubbed some of the 24 Hour Tattoo shadow I was wearing one day and boy it hurt and had to hide it, don’tt worry it healed due to my skin treatment and the concealer stick I’ve been using. So, that is for Target!

Walgreens: I haven’t been to Walgreens in a long time and needed a ffew things and as said didn’t stop by Cover Girl which I should’ve but did need some other things. First, had to get more witch hazel which is really great! I love using this and helps getting the blemis spots that are left over from anything that is on my face and it may be a little drying, but I do have my container of Celestial. Then I got more round cotton pads to help use the witch hazel a lot easier. I use cotton balls with the rubbing alcohol and then the witch hazel with the pads since it would help attack the marks easier. Then got more baby wipes for my make up cleaning and I got something really nice and it the ones with the scent of green tea and cucumber! I tend to get my deodorant in this scent but this would be a nice little change and it is my fave scent. I did run by the Wet N Wild section for curiosity to see what is new, didn’t find much but they did do a Buy something for $1. 99 and theng et one half off, I got two nail polishes and they are in Wet Cement, a dark gray, and On a Trip, which is a purple that I never thought of getting until now. I should’ve gotten more items but thought these would be good enough for now, but WNW is still cheap no matter what Walgreens you go to!

Cosplay, I have been working on two cosplays lately for the summer convention season, one original the other not! First my Pokemon character, Rusty!

Rusty, my Pokemon Character: This character was another one I wanted to do and his backstory from my pokemon fics are that he used to be on Team Aqua but he betrayed them and got hurt and ended up being transported by his Starmie to the Sinnoh region and was dropped off and never saw his Starmie for a while. A Raichu finds him and becomes his Pokemon. He does lose his memories about Aqua and gets them back, I am going to plan on doing one based on “What if” and probably show what if he was on Magma and may change characters and do the sequel but a newer syndicate way. Anyways, so I am doing his Pokemon Ranger outfit but my own twist. I asked for descriptions about the costumes they wear, they sounded vvery bulky and complicated in how the creator made them and I don’t know why, after doing Ike, one of my other characters, I felt as though my design in costumes for Pokemon are easier since I can get the parts at Good Will or Plato’s Closet, even Ebay! So, here goes. I decided to do a red and black version and got the goggles off of Ebay along with the wig, which is a dark ash blond; I had a hard time finding the right length and a straight one and didn’t want to spend so much but I found one with Cosplay DNA and it was perfect and my parents didn’t recognize me! I am going to use my old Ginji gloves since they do wear gloves and despite the metal plates, it would give off a nice look and will use my black shorts with it and flip flops. A friend of mine is making the scarf, she did teach me how to knit a little but the yarn kept fraying and she decided to finish it, she is also making the ranger pin, and Raichu, which I helped her during a JoAnn’s run with getting supplies. I did get the bandana and a red shirt from Michael’s arts and crafts! And finding the bandanas and shirts were easy! I wanted to get a bandana with red nautical stars but they didn’t have one so went with a plain black one. I went to a Slavation Army for the black vest and it was perfect! So, all I have to do is wait for the rest of the stuff to be made.

Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail: I did mention in my Fairy Tail review back on Blogger that I was going to be cosplaying as her for Metro and MythiCon this year since Cheramie is at MythiCon and we are doing Fairy Tail for the Blind Experience. My update is that I did get the skirt at Plato’s Closet. I remembered getting the skirt for my Anri costume from there and it was the only place that had clothes that fit, well the one closer to downtown, and I did find one that fit me in XL! I am so glad that it fits and I should go to that one more often for any skirts that would fit me. Then the boots! I had such a hard time with these because everyone on Ebay sold any boots in Medium and I am a Wide! I almost went with Hot Topic but was afraid they would be Medium and don’t want to go through another fitting fiasco with them. I did find the only Wide pair but in 12 and it did cost me a little over $50 due to shipping but it was worth it and they fit perfectly despite the size! They are also heels and boy my feet will be hurting since I am doing press for Metro, I will invest in the Dr. Scholl’s for her in-steps before then. All I need is the wig and the top that my friend is making for me since the creator of Fairy Tail is pretty elaborate.

Well, that is it for this edition of the haul! If anyone has seen the Paul Frank party pack from LipSmackers, please comment below! Next up is my faves of March and April! So, stay tuned!

Top Fave Anime-Last Blogger Post!

*This is my last post from Blogger!

Hello everyone and welcome back to Nerdy Shique! So, last time I mentioned how I really love Fairy Tail and added it to my top fave anime series of all time! What else is in my favorites? Well, let’s see!

  1. DNAngel: This series is what got me into the works of Yukiru Sugisaki and this one is my most favorite she has done!

What is it about? It takes a look into Daisuke Niwa, a teen who just turned 14 when he finds out that all males in his family that have the Niwa bloodline in them turn into the phantom thief Dark Mousy and has to go and steal artwork that possess powerful magic. He goes and takes these works and finds Satoshi Hiwatari, another teenage boy who is a top notch student, possesses a similar bloodline that causes him to change into the angel counterpart, Krad, and brings the feud between Daisuke’s family and Satoshi’s once again! Besides his stealing, how is Daisuke is supposed to impress his crush, Risa Harada, without changing into his angel form?

Why do I like it? Like most people, I was introduced to this series through watching it in Japanese before it was released here. I was in high school when the anime club first started and a girl brought in her disks and we watched it during lunch one day and liked it and when I found the manga preview in my old, fave magazineAnime Insider, I had to get the manga  since it was being released by TokyoPop  in April of ’04! I still have the volumes I collected over time and not sure if they released any more of it but I did get the anime when ADV was still around and I loved how they dubbed it. I know Vic Mignogna is Dark, even though I don’t like him as a person but he does a good job when it comes to playing Dark and this was the first anime I ever heard him in. I do give props for Greg Ayres as Satoshi, which I found out during the commentaries on disks 5 and 7, he wanted to be Daisuke and auditioned for the role but David Williams had him audition for Satoshi as well and was chosen for him and Kevin Corn as Daisuke. If you don’t know who Kevin Corn is, he has been in Angelic Layer as Kotaro Kobayashi. Still, I love the show and the artwork was well put together in the anime and of course, the music is amazing for its instrumentals! Even “Dark Light, True Light,” the Japanese version is my fave version along with the piano version. They should release a third soundtrack to this series because it has more instrumental tracks and they haven’t released a full edition of the music box version of “Dark Light,” I wouldn’t even mind having a music box with it in my figure cabinet.

  1. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle: The first CLAMP title on my top faves! Plus, it’s their major crossover work that they’ve ever done and it was done very well!

What is it about? Meet Syaoron, a teen who is an archaeologist who took on the work of discovering the ruins outside of Clow Country after his adopted father, Clow Reed, died. He is the best friend of the princess, Sakura, and little did they know, their home connects to many other worlds and a new journey starts when one night the princess is called to the ruins outside of the country and loses her memories as the form of feathers and get spread out over time and space. With the help of Yuko, the Space Time Witch, a wizard with an unknown background, Fai D. Flowright, and a cursed samurai, Kurogane, travel across time and space in order to regain the memories of Sakura. But there is one problem, there is a lot more dangers that Syaoran has to face and find out the truth about himself and the princess to get the feathers back.

Why do I like it?  Because it takes many of CLAMP’s most famous works and cross it into one big series. Even the series ran for two seasons, a movie, and two OVAs, this series is far from complete! I have a feeling the final volume of the manga will be a movie since it has to round up the entire story. I do like how the twists and turns take place within the story, especially with the manga and how certain points do cross with XXXHolic since Yuko has to give guidance to the party. There is one thing though, like many people I did watch the Japanese version first and thought the dubbing was a little rocky at certain points. I do like Jason Leighbrecht as Syaoran since we get to hear him portray a kid in his teens since he is known for doing older men like Ban from GetBackers as an example, but he does have a great voice range. Monica Rial as Sakura was a great choice but I did see Luci Christian for the role or Laura Bailey but she was Primera and Clow Reed’s brother’s assistant. Chris Sabat as Kurogane, PERFECT! Carrie Savage as Mokona, PERFECT! Vic Mignogna as Fai didn’t fit well in my opinion, why is that? I heard that Chris Patton was one of the voice actors who would be Fai, I already saw that while reading through the manga because it fits so well! Plus, there are times when Fai has to be sadistic and very mysterious with it and Chris Patton plays it so well, even when he was Sesame in Pretear and he can pull off the drama in RahXephon and I can see why I prefer him as Fai over Vic and always heard him instead of Vic while I watched the anime. Another thing that kind of ticked me off is one translated song and it is called “Kaze no Machi He!” Which means “City in Sand.” The only problem I have with this song is that in the Japanese version it goes with the beat and it is a slow waltz beat, even though at the end it kind of adds more a syllable but it sounds really sweet. In the English version, the singer to me goes fast and against the beat and it feels as though she wants to go against it, kind of like the lead singer of Neverver doing the same thing with his opening track when they perform. I think the problem was how Funimation wrote the translation and had too many words to it, watch the English version when they get to the virtual world, which is one of my fave arcs of the entire series and you will see what I mean. After watching it, I think they should’ve leave this song in Japanese. Speaking of arcs, other arcs I do like include the Dragonfly Race in the start of season 2, which was interesting in the manga how it was the second arc of season 2 rather than the next. I also did like the very first arc where Syaoran and gang go to their first world and have fighting spirits! What makes me happy about the manga, you get to see Hikaru from Angelic Layer/Rayearth appear but as her Layer form on a chessboard. And the soundtrack, oh man, it is amazing! That’s all I have to say, except that a lot of the tracks do go with every mood and I like it does and of course some songs are the power ups, but one song that always catches my ears is “Song of Fire and Storm,” which always plays when Kurogane starts being a badass samurai from his world.

  1. Glass Fleet: An uncommon anime that Chris Sabat did the ADR direction for and one of the most awesome storylines you will see, and it is like Star Trek meets Pirates of the Carribean in my opinion.

What is it about? Imagine living in a galaxy that is about to be destroyed due to a cloud in the deep space, plus having two groups fighting each other, one is the People’s Army and the other is The Black Cross Religion and try to free a galaxy  from doom. Two brothers from a dead royal family come and take on a prophecy in order to restore their name in order to fix the conflict between the groups and find that “ever lasting galaxy!”

Why I like it? Oh my god! This series is the most beautiful series I’ve ever seen! How so? Well, when someone is starting to watch it it is kind of confusing at first but most series are kind of like that, I seen it in Dragonnaut: The Resonnance as an example! But it does get better as you keep watching! Yeah, Michelle is pretty whiny but he does get better and you get surprised by his true identity in the seventh episode but it does get relevant later. Trust me, I even almost cried during that point too. What about cast? It is the best casting I’ve seen in anime, yeah Fairy Tail and Soul Eater share great castings but this is the best one yet! Travis Willingham as Cleo Corvalle was the best choice and he can do rough characters and Cleo was rough and the coldness was played very well. Laura Bailey as Michelle Vauban, okay, I will reveal it, he is really the sister of Michelle, you need to watch the series to understand why she did this masquerade, anyways she plays males pretty well which she just needs to lower her voice one octave from her older female voice and make it sound serious. Jason Leighbrecht as Vetti Sporza, when you hear him do a British accent…oh man sexy yet chilling at the same time! Even though you want to despise Vetti and yet the voice just fits it when he has to be the evil guy for the Black Cross side! The rest of the cast was very well executed like Monica Rial as Shilowa, Greg Ayres as Knowy, and of course, Luci Christian as my all time fave character, Eimer! I have to give Chris Sabat major props for who he picked for the characters, which were smart choices for them. You need to see it and see what I mean. I still want to get the soundtrack, but one day if it is still on Ebay or if I can find it at a con, I will get it. I even tried finding the artbook but can’t find it except for Ebay of course, but still doing cosplay right now. Still, you should see this series, it is phenomenal and very different from all the space opera animes you see, I think it went along with Captain Harlock but more dramatic! So, check this series out!

  1. Soul Eater: I always love a pop culture reference! I am still working on my Dresden/Soul Eater crossover and it is still a top fave.

What is it about? Imagine the grim reaper put together a school for taking out villains who eat eggs known as kishin souls and have to eat a witches soul in order to become one of his weapons. Meet Maka Albarn, Soul Eater Evans, Black Star, Tsubaki, Liz and Patti Thompson, and Death the Kid who are students at the academy known as Death Weapon Meister Academy, the DWMA, in Death City, Nevada, where they want to get their weapon partners to be Deathscythes, but evil villains do get in the way but they have to stop them and take their soul or the madness will take over!

Why I like it? It takes pop culture and makes it funny in its own way. Now this is the main element of how I crossed Soul Eater with Dresden Files, since Harry is known for making a pop culture reference here and there and well Soul Eater is filled with them. Plus, the comedy is pretty priceless and flows. The cast is great, especially a ADV veteran known as John Swasey as Lord Death makes it priceless since he can play goofy pretty well! This also introduced new talent to the team which were Micah Asoledad who would pass on as Johnny Yong Bosch! No kidding! He sounds exactly like Johnny that you have to wonder if it is Johnny or not! I thought it was Johnny in the Tsubasa OVAs for Tokyo Revelations but it was Micah! I can imagine if Vampire Chronicles were animated and Micah and Johnny had to work in the same booth, oh boy, it would hurt people’s heads! Anyways, Maxie Whitehead is also new to the gig as Chrona, the person who dresses as a nun! According to the anime, Chrona is a boy and the manga, a girl but Maxie plays it so well in how Chrona has to do the whimpy act and then the creepy act with the Black Blood inside and Ragnarok of course. Speaking of which, I did ask SonnyStrait if he has sore throats after recording Ragnarok since he has to scream, he said “Yes!” At least he still pulls it off!

  1. Finally, Burst Angel: A spaghetti western that has an awesome storyline and action, a mech named after Djengo.

What is it about? Kyohe is a student at a cooking academy and decides to take up cooking jobs in order to save up to study abroad. His life changes when he meets Sae and cooks for her tenants, Amy, a master child in technology, Meg, a sassy cowgirl, and Jo, a gun toting lady with a mysterious past! Once he gets involved with their secret work of taking out robots with green brains, his life is no longer normal!

Why I like it? Like Glass Fleet, this series was smartly casted with Clarine Harp as Sae, Jamie Markie as Meg, and of course, Monica Rial as Jo! What is interesting is that no one recognized Monica except me, how is that? Besides my great voice recognition, I did remember Monica doing an older character in RahXephon and she can change her voice very well! I will get her signature on this since I already have Jamie’s, Colleen’s, and Kyle Hebert’s on it so far. And I still need to find the Jo figure since I have figures of Amy, Meg, and Sae but having a hard time with Jo, there is always Metro this July. Another thing I like it is that this is one of the many great works that Gonzo has put out and improved on what they dish out, plus it’s beautifully animated, this is why I wanted to put this anime to “Black Water” by Traverser because it sets the mood and does describe the girls, especially Jo. If you get your hands on this, I would have to say get the three volume manga because it is the prequel to the series, I still have my copies of course. As said, get your manga copies so you can understand the anime and get the boxset while you’re at it, it does come with the entire series  and the OVA and the commentaries are great too.

Other animes I miss but get their own categories…

Most Manly Anime: Gurren Lagan! I know there is a lot of manly anime, even MFK may agree or disagree with me on this since he does the Manime panels at the cons and at a comic book shop near me, but Gurren Lagan is one of the most manly anime I’ve seen! How so? When I first got into anime, mecha anime was the first things I seen and that was Voltron and this anime has the giant robot aspect except it uses drills even when they go Mega form! This is one anime that needs a Blind Experience edition in the future!

Greatest Cult Classic: Fruits Basket! Why? I almost thought FullMetal Alchemist, the original not Brotherhood, but Fruits Basket has been around a little before FMA was over here and it is pretty well known. Even though the animals of the zodiac do have different forms for two of them, the dragon and ox, but I still like the story and how people transform into the zodiac animals by the opposite sex, you rarely see that! Well, Ranma ½ did their own version but this was a major classic to a lot of people! Plus, it has a great cast to boot! Now, if only people can stop getting my Angry Kyo shirts mixed up with Bleach!

Best Anime Original: FullMetal Alchemist! What I mean is that the better version of an anime in its original storytelling and that goes to FMA the original series! Yeah, a lot of people prefer Brotherhood due to it going with the manga but I couldn’t stand it because they forced the comedy way too much and another thing is using Izumi’s coughing as comedic  material didn’t work because it is supposed to be dramatic! Anyways, yeah, the ending and the movie didn’t go as a lot of people hoped but most creators do end up running out of ideas and to me I liked how it ended! Seriously, I liked how at first it was kind of funny but towards the end of season 1, it turns totally dark and the movie, Conqueror of Shambala has it too and liked the idea of the real world and world of alchemy parallel  in it, it kind of gives off an “what if” scenario for each side! I don’t care what most people say but I still prefer FMA in how the story is put together and the comedy and drama just flows throughout it. That is what a story needs, flow!

Best Series to Have Abridged Versions: Both DBZ and Naruto! I know a lot of people liked the Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged Series, I do like that one but Naruto and Dragonball Z had a lot of elements that can be easily made fun of. I still love doing the Itachi stuff since I have “Carmen Sandiego” and “Caramel Dancin” on my phone to walk with them playing at cons, still I love both series. Hell, I still can’t watch DBZ Kai Guru without thinking of the abridged version! “Nail! Gather all the Dragonballs and wish for a TV!” And now with Nicktoons about to show the Bowjack movie, now thinking to King Kai with yelling “SHUT UP BOWJACK!” And back to Naruto, I still want to tape a Klondike bar to a log and put it next to a Sasuke cosplayer and make sure a Naruto is near them and know the line “At least they left you something to remember you by!” And get that videotaped! Anyways, these two series are some of the best abridged stuff you will see, now I can see why Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged sparked it all!

Well, that’s about it! One thing before I go, I am moving Nerdy Shique! It will be on Word Press and named Nerdy Shique Universe! It goes with my stars and planets theme with my e-mail and thought it would be easier, especially with the reading on Word Press. So, when I have my next post which is a major collective haul, go to www.nerdyshiqueuniverse.wordpress.com! So, until next time!
