Anime: ANime That Should Be Dubbed

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Finally I get around to do my list of anime that should be dubbed.

I know it is weird to see me talk about this but there are times when anime doesn’t get dubbed and as a blind person it is hard for me to watch it and I don’t always have Gondras right next to me to read subtitles. That is why I stopped going to anime clubs even one back at my school that only shows the subbed versions of anime that is already dubbed. I do admit I have one that hasn’t been dubbed which I will get to in a moment so that is why I decided to do this list to say which ones that should have an English adaptation either by Viz, Sentai Filmworks, or the big tamale themselves, Funimation!

Arakawa Under the Bridge: An anime series from 2011, Arakawa Under the Bridge has been a fave of mine and my buddies and I do have the first season on DVD and Blue Ray since Nipponichi USA brought it over here but not dubbed which makes me sad! This anime introduces Kou Ichinomiya a guy who always follows the major rule that his family always puts on him is that “Never be in debt to anybody.” Until his life was saved underneath the Arakawa Bridge by a girl named Nino and promises to pay her back by being her boyfriend and his new life begins. This anime has a lot of comedy and irony to it such as two boys who wear helmets that cover their faces so people won’t see them to a guy named “Sister” in a nun’s habit, this anime is beyond the idea of absurdity and it is also hilarious! I wish I got season two because I only got two episodes in through the anime club I used to be a part of in town but stopped showing it and I remembered how Nino, who believes she is from space, has to go back home to Venus and she had a magical girl transformation and it was amazing!
Who Should Dub This? I think Funimation should dub this because they can do comedy very well. I can imagine Ian Sinclair being Sister since his voice is deep enough to match Takehito Koyasu’s voice and possibly Brina Palencia as Nino since she can do a pretty good dead pan voice with her own.

Katanano Gatari: Another one from Nipponichi that wasn’t dubbed is called Katana no Gatari. This anime tells the story of Yasuri Chichika who is a swordsman without a sword and Togame, who is gathering the twelve swords for the Shogunate. He sets out across Edo era Japan to gather these swords and in order to prove his loyalty to Togame, since he is the son of an exiled warrior, he must fall in love. This anime has hour long episodes and that is why it should be dubbed. When Gondras read me the subtitles, it took forever to get through the episodes and I felt like I prefer it in English over the Japanese version because I could understand the story a lot better. I also think the story would be explained more since with English the story can be told in a better light.
Who should dub this one? I feel that Sentai Filmworks should dub this one because they have done a lot of period stories and they do it pretty well. Some of my faves included Gin Saga, Kino’s Journey, and many others from the ADV days. Plus, with how much better they got in dubbing like with Angel Beats, they can handle this one and its story.

Occult Academy: This anime was one of the ones I hoped to come dubbed but nope! We meet Maya, daughter of the former headmaster of Waldstein Academy, and in 2012 the world is invaded by aliens and time travelers. Doctor Who much? Anyways, Fumiaki is sent back to 1999 in order to destroy the Nostridamus Key to keep the invasion from happening and he meets Maya in the past in order to find it to destroy it. This anime would’ve been great as a dub because it has a great supernatural tone to it and we are living in the time where Doctor Who is at its popularity, well bigger popularity with how great Season Ten is. I did like this one and its theme song.
Who Should Get This One? I would give this one to Funimation because they have a very dynamic staff and I think their actors can keep that supernatural feel in script and cast. I can see Austin Tindle as Fumiaki and Jad Saxton as Maya since I can imagine her with a slight British voice.

My Monster Secret AKA Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa: I know GOndras would be happy if I put this on the list and it is My Monster Secret or in Japan, Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa since he loves this series so much! Trust me, try having him talk about it most of the time. Anyways, We meet Asahi Kuromine who is known for not being able to keep a secret has his poker face tested when he sees his classmate Yoko Shiramine sprout wings from her back and having bats fly around her and that is when he finds out she is a vampire. Not only he has to keep her secret but also other classmates’ secrets like the class president being a space alien and the class perv being a werewolf. Not only that, their principal being a demon and the teacher her daughter! Yes, this series sounds like a cute slice of life story and it is pretty much. There is a twelve episode anime out in Japan but it hasn’t been dubbed which Gondras would like.
Who should get this one? I am thinking Viz should get this one since they do pretty good jobs on supernatural type slice of life stories such as Vampire Knight and they are re-dubbing Salor Moon which I wish Hulu would have Season 3 already. I can imagine Asahi probably being played by Ben Discan using his Umino voice or Bryce Papenbrook as Asahi and Stephanie Sheh being Yoko.

Junjo Romantica: I know Vivi would be happy if I mentioned this one since it is her fave series. I tried to see for a synopsis but all I got from Wikipedia said it’s a yaoi and slice of life anime series that was adapted from manga. Hmmm! Interesting!
Who should have this one? It is hard to say but I would think Sentai Filmworks should have this one since they can do a better job than Right Stuff in my opinion.

Well, that is it for this list so far! I don’t know what else to put but you can comment down below if you have a fave anime that should be dubbed.

What is next for Nerdy Shique Universe? How to keep yourself from turning into a Wheeaboo. Until next time!
