Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! It is time for another book review!
Title: Swimming With Fishes
Author: Rasheda Ashanti Malcom
Disclaimer: This book review is based on thoughts and opinions of the lead writer. Please respect her thoughts and feelings! Spoilers might be ahead!
Synopsis: This story is about love affair between two people and in this one we meet Kat, who is a sickle cell anemia sufferer, who was predicted to meet a man from overseas to bear his child and all thanks to this prediction from her teenage years she waited until her twenties when that man does arrive. Thornton Benjamin or Ben is an English businessman who has a wife and kids and meets Kat and they start hanging with each other everyday and even though his love starts sparking with her, he doesn’t know that she is sick and that does know that he is hers. Even though she doesn’t know he is married nor he with her sickness, this affair not only brings the prediction to life but trouble to the ones they love.
Thoughts: This book was almost like A Love Affair to Remember but more sweeter than that. My mom did catch me while being consumed by this book but didn’t tell her since there are those times when my mom does talk so much I can’t get a word in. I did tell her about the last book, if you have read the review for that, anyways, I could see how much the two loved each other despite what was going on. For instance, even though Ben has his family to take care of he didn’t give up Kat and despite having her kid and almost dying due to her sickness, she never forgot Ben either. Even though with how they live two different lives, as in Kat with her sickness, her religious mother, and being in a rural area of Jamaica and Ben with his wife and kids, they still loved each other even at the end of the book despite how hard it became when Ben’s wife knew about Kat. I did like the scene how Ben’s wife, Claire, visited Kat to confront her to see who she was. Did Ben end up with Kat? I would say get the book on Amazon if you can because this was an enjoyable read and if you are into romance books then this would be the one for you!
Rating: 5 Star Pawprints Out of 5! I enjoyed this book a lot since it was an enjoyable and romantic read. It did show both characters in how they lived their lives and able to not forget each other if they are cross ocean from each other. This book does show how love triumphs all and does show choose the ones you love rather than settling with the ones you didn’t want, which I have seen in one part of the book with an old friend and Kat. I do like how each of the characters interacted with each other and gives you a bit of an idea of between Jamaican life, which we saw with Kat, her family, and friends, to the British life with Ben and his wife and friends. All in all, this was a very positive read and I would definitely suggest it. Where can you find it?
Yeah, definitely will be including links for now on! Sorry if I hadn’t before!
