Subscription Satelite: Glossy Box March 2022

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with my final subscription box!

Glossy Box March 2022

Final box is my Glossy Box and man, it was a wait. It shipped later than last month’s box but I was glad to receive it this past week and man I was happy for what’s in my box. This box is $21 a month and you get a mix of full and deluxe size items ranging from prestige to indie and it comes nicely wrapped in a box. Let’s see what I got!

Okay, I need to ask, why did they put an MLM product in this box? I tried searching but nothing appeared. I am against MLM products and how they take advantage of women, including blind women who join, I don’t think I want to use this product and support them again since my experience with their shadows and blush. I know it’s a moisturizer that can help but I am not sure if I want to use it on my face since the product can cause adverse effects if not made well or made with ingredients not meant for sensitive skin. It is supposed to be cooling. Should I or shouldn’t I? I am still using my Rich Bitch moisturizer from Glam Bag X. Moving onto the other items since I am excited about those the most since they are not from MLMs. I’m happy that a hand cream is in this box since my hands do get dry due to the hand washing I have been doing for a long time.I never heard of Merci Handy before so this will be a new brand for me to try out. The Luxie Brush was a great addition to the box due to the Estate shadow quad but when I felt it, it felt more like a blush brush over a shadow brush. I think this would be too big for my eyes so I will use it as a blush brush. I did get excited about the Estate shadow quad the most since I have this brand in Ipsy and I saw there were two different ones to get in this box, I don’t know which one I got but I can’t wait to use it. And of course, Model Co. is back in this box but with a highlighting shimmer whip. I remembered getting the ones from E. L. F. but haven’t used those as much since I prefer the powder ones years ago, except I started using them again and have used the stick ones and of course did enjoy the one from About Face in my Glam Bag Plus this month.  I will definitely try this out since I like to use a powder highlight on top to give more glow and keep it in place. I did link it to the champagne shade, not sure what color they really sent me so it’s a good link to see what item it is at least.

That’s it for this box, I will use the other four products since I’m afraid of the Avon moisturizer. I will probably tweet later to say if I do use the moisturizer or not. What’s next? I will finally do the post about the BrailleNote Touch Plus vs. the Braille Sense 6! Stay tuned!

Subscription Satelite: Ipsy March 2022

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe. I am back with another subscription post!

Ipsy March 2022

I got both my Glam Bag and Glam Bag Plus a few days after each other. I feel that this month’s bags had more makeup being centered since I felt I had a lot of skin care and picked makeup items for GB Plus. The regular Glam Bag is $13 and the Glam Bag Plus is $28 a month. In the Glam Bag you get more deluxe size items and sometimes full size ones while GB Plus contains more full size items and you choose three items each month. Let’s see what I got!

Glam Bag:

  • Context Skin Matte Lipstick in Robot Lover
  • Half Baked In Bloom Powder Blush in SoftServe_Queen
  • Pure Brazilian Daily Anti-Frizz Serum
  • Shana B Miami Be Extra Pigment Duo in Venetian Gray and Queen Of Diamonds
  • Winky Lux Super Perfect Under Eye Concealer in Light Beige

This month’s bag was about makeup and one hair item. The product I selected was the Winky Lux Under Eye concealer since it was different from what I’ve seen in past choices. Even though there were concealers in choices for past bags, some months didn’t have the right shade for me and I was glad to choose this one. It was very creamy when I applied it. I just put a dab on my mixing palette and then dabbed it on and blended it with a brush. I figured it was easier than putting a huge glob on my under eyes. It blended very well though. I did use the lipstick from Context Skin since it was my second lipstick from these guys due to getting it last month. It is a medium dark red color which is perfect to wear at work. Plus, it feels good on the lips! I am currently wearing the Shana B Duo and the Half Caked Blush which I was surprised at the size of the blush but I was able to fit my brush very well. I took a look and it is supposed to be a cotton candy shade and so it’s pink. It did go on pretty well. I did use the shadow duo on top of my Mac Paint Pot in Taylor Gray to enhance the gray in the duo. I did find it weird that the other shade felt like it was falling apart slightly. At least this is just a sample I don’t have to worry about. With the anti-frizz serum, I only used it once when I was using my other hair products, I did notice my hair was softer so I have to keep using it.

Glam Bag Plus:

  • About Face Light Lock Fluid in Fight or Flight
  • ViseArt Petit Pourquoi
  • Gerard Cosmetics Hydro Matte Liquid Lipstick in 1995
  • Alleyoop Multi-Tasker
  • MOTD Cosmetics Highlighting Powder in Lucid Moon

Now it’s time for Glam Bag Plus! I wish the final group for choices had better options since I feel like that it always feels meh. Even though the second grouping felt the same way. I did pick some pretty good items and they were the liquid lipstick from Gerard Cosmetics, a sponge and brush duo from Alley Oop and a highlighting powder from MOTD. I was most excited about the Gerard Cosmetics lipsticks because I heard so many good things about these over the years. I was glad to see this item as a choice and picked it. I felt that the applicator was interesting but it did apply a good amount of product. I do carry it with me in my makeup bag for work since it’s a rosey brown shade. I will have to check more things out by this brand since I heard good things about the eye primer. I am wearing both of the MOTD and About Face highlighters on my face at the moment. I did the same thing with the concealer by applying the About Face liquid on the pallet and applying it with my fingers and then used the MOTD highlighter with a brush to blend the two together. I like the idea that the About Face liquid is in dropper packaging and it helps with product distribution and won’t go all over the place. I do have another all thanks to an About Face duo I picked up from the Offers page. I haven’t used the Vise Art shadow quad as of yet. Wait! It is an eight pan! I will try it out and see how it goes!

That is it for this pair of bags. I’m happy with this month’s bags and what I chose. I’m thinking of linking each product again with each bullet point, and will do that whenever I get my Glossy Box. I did check on its status and nothing about shipment, I did ask them and they explained that it would ship within the month and it’s already the second to last week of the month. Still will be looking out for it. Hoping it does arrive and that is the next post!

Subscription Satelite: Allure Beauty Box March 2022

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe. I am back with the first subscription post!

Allure Beauty Box March 2022

My Allure Beauty Box came in first this month and glad it did since sometimes it comes last. Apparently Glossy Box has not shipped yet. This box featured a lot of skin care this month and featured one product I am familiar with since it was named Best of Beauty. This features items that are picked as favorites by the Allure Editors and most of them are winners for Best of Beauty. This costs $23 every month. Let’s see what they featured! I will do what I did with Ipsy where I list the items and tell you what I am excited about.

  • Blink Ultralume Tubing Mascara Retail Price: $26
  • Toula Signe Refreshingly Brightening Facial Mist Retail Price: $34
  • Shan! Garden Retinol Reform 4 IA Retail Price: $88
  • AM Essentials Real Eye Cream for Face Retail Price: $25
  • Brioggio Hair Care Scalp Revival Charcoal and Coconut Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo Retail Price $42
  • Origins Gel Moisturizer Retail Price: $32
  • Setaphil SenGentle Cleanser Retail Price: $15

So, this month, there was more skin care than makeup, since we only got the Blink mascara. I remembered getting the Blink mascara in BoxyCharm many years ago and was surprised to see this again. Mind you, at the time Blink was pretty new and they are now a Allure Best of Beauty Winner. I didn’t like the idea of tubing mascaras since they can irritate if I am not too careful but wearing lash primers help with irritation so I will give it another try on top of the Cover Girl Lash Primer. I was surprised to see Cetaphil in here as well since I rarely saw them before when I was subscribed to Allure’s box years ago. I did use one of their cleansers because my skin is so sensitive but it smelled weird. I know fragrance is not good for sensitive skin but it smelled weird. I will see how this cleanser works on my skin since it is such a small sample alongside the Origins moisturizer I got in this box. What I’m interested in is the double duty eye cream and moisturizer since I’ve never seen it before and it’s a product from Korea as well, which K Beauty is big on the market. I will definitely use it since I have so many eye creams at the moment, and I have one full on eye serum in this box as well. I think Allure did this version of the box for March due to how Spring is right around the corner and most people are refreshing their skin care after wearing winter related makeup and skin care depending on their skin type and it’s a good idea since some people need to refresh from the dry, cold months. We were hit with really cold weather during January and February and now with March we are getting back to weather in the high seventies and low eighties. Gotta love Florida! Even with the Toula Spray, that will definitely be something for people to use, even when it gets hotter and humid where I live. I will start using it in the late spring or closer to summer. It’s a good idea for the box, glad Allure went with this theme. ANother item that I was surprised by is the Briogeo shampoo. I did remember getting something similar in Glam Bag X but it was more of a hair mask, except I hated that one and tossed it out. I will definitely give this product a chance since it is a sample and not a full-size.

That’s it for this box! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for April since Spring is already here and we’re needing a nice refresher! Next will be my Ipsy bags! Stay tuned!

The Beauty Quadrant: Items I Switched To!

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! Sorry for the wait for a new post! School and work kept me busy with things and glad to take some time to do this post I promised!

Beauty Items I Switched!

It sounds like a weird title but there are things we love to use in beauty and hygiene that we tend to switch from time to time. I understand that some brands and items people love and say they are their holy grails except they can change from time to time due to either the item gets discontinued, the brand goes out of business, which I’ve seen lately, and sometimes the skin or hair does not like it which causes it to freak out. I do have items I have swapped recently and wanted to talk about it!

From Regular Deodorant to Natural

This was a big switch for me because I always loved using regular deodorants for years. I bounced from Secret to Degree to Dove and got back to Secret since I do wear sleeveless tops sometimes for work or for cosplay back in the times before we rebranded. I’ve heard how regular deodorants are not that great for some people’s health, there have been claims about the aluminum causing breast cancer? I think Jen Luv talked about that in her Natural Deodorant review which I switched to all thanks to Ipsy at first. I had Refreshments for a little while because I switched my razors, which is next and I got their deodorant, which is more natural. I was a bit on the fence about natural deodorants at first but noticed how sometimes my pits do get a little crusty with the build-up of product and sometimes with some deodorants I buy and have it delivered it can be hard to find so I gave natural a chance and enjoyed what Ipsy had. Recently, all thanks to the Mile Higher podcast (if you’re into true crime stuff with a little supernatural, check them out) I got into Native. Native has not been new to me since I heard some of my favorite people on YouTube talk about them but Mile Higher got me to use their discount code during the Christmas scents that came and what I like about Native is that the scents are not too overwhelming. Not sure if you notice with some deodorants, the scent seems to punch you in the face, Native is not too bad, it’s just right! I did find the candy cane one to be too light but not to the point of the Twisted Peppermint Body Spray, that was a strong scent and turned fruity. Anyways, I also like the idea that it is made with shea butter which is good for my sensitive skin. I do have one drawback, it can be hard to use the stick since you do have to rub it a couple of times to make it warm up. I do enjoy Native and I have a lot of sticks all thanks to my love for this brand!

Jumping Ship from Dollar Shave Club!

WHat do I mean by this? For a little while since our first apartment, I was a member of Dollar Shave Club and loved their skin care items for the legs, however I noticed that with the seven blade razor it made my skin drier than ever and itchier than ever so I had to cancel. At first, I did enjoy the razor from Ipsy but the Refreshments items were taking too long for me to receive every month so I joined Athena Club all thanks to Blaire from Illuminati. I think this was a great choice because their razors are basically the VVenus Razors but with more moisture to them. I still use my shave gel with these but it adds more moisture as I shave since my skin can be irritated after a fresh shave even after washing off the shave gel. I still feel a tiny itch but not as bad with the Dollar Shave within a day or two of shaving. Again, this is a good razor and I recommend it. I do not like that the website is not accessible when it comes to entering items into carts, I do notice the profile is accessible. I did have to contact customer service to choose my razor kit. I like the idea of choosing a color, I did go with sky blue since I’m a sucker for blue. Also, you can choose to send it every three months, which I tend to not change my razors since I don’t shave as much unless I have tons of hair on my legs and pits. The razors do keep me for my next shipment and they do send you ten cartridges. I find it better than the Ipsy subscription since they only give you two. I’d rather spend the $20 plus on ten cartridges and that is basically what you get at CVS. I may go for their shave gel at some point.

Using Cleansing Tools for Face Cleansing in the Morning?!

I know we have heard so much about cleansing tools over the years, especially the big popular one, Clairsonic. With more companies releasing their own, I did get one in my Ipsy bag, well more like purchased a few through add-ons, even got one in Glam Bag X, and did get one through Ipsy Offers and that is the PMD Beauty Cleansing Brush in navy. I did get the Warm one twice, the first time as an add-on and in my November 2021 GB X where Huda Katan chose it for me. I do like the navy one more due to how it is better for sensitive skin except it does have the same vibration settings as the Warm one but less harsh. I do use this with my Tony Moley AM Gel Cleanser in the morning before work and on the weekends since it does help with spreading it and just lathers when I wash it off. I don’t use it for moisturizer since it doesn’t do much when I try that. At least I do use it for the cleansing part. At least it has lasted me this long!

From Tarte Stage One to CoverGirl Lash Primer

Just when I thought the Tarte Stage One Lash Primer was my holy grail, I noticed getting it after every single time it was drying out was getting a bit pricey so it was time to see about a drugstore alternative. I admitted I did try out the lash primer from L’Oreal Lash Paradise line but was not a fan and it dried out too quickly! I found the one from CoverGirl and OMG! Where was this? This is made with caffeine and it has helped with my mascara game every single time. Yes, it goes on white but it does keep my eyes from being allergic to mascara, even though allergies really hit me in January. Don’t worry, I have changed out tubes along the way. Also, it makes my lashes feel like lashes! You know how mascaras kind of make your lashes too stiff? Not with this primer! I’m wearing the Rare Beauty mascara and so far my legs are still fluttery. I will definitely continue buying. Sorry Tarte!

From Sinful to Color Club!

I’ve been enjoying a newer polish brand and that is Color Club. If you have been with Nerd Chique Universe since it started on BlogSpot without the Universe in its name, I have been a huge lover of Sinful Colors. I always went crazy for their midnight blue polish all the way to their holiday and limited polishes, however they chipped so quickly even if I used a top coat. I still have all of my bottles that I kept that are still fresh but Ipsy did bring me a new brand. Two years ago, I bought a huge bundle from Ipsy Offers that featured a lot of items and one item was a set of Color Club polishes and when I tried one polish, I noticed my nails didn’t chip so badly. It took a few days to start chirping even with all of the typing I do at work and now for school with assignments and reading Braille.. Even the polish Glow Baby Glow stayed on for two weeks. WHen I went to get a manicure in January, the salon tried to have me get a gel manicure when I wanted a regular one and told me that most polishes start chipping in a day and don’t stay on. ALso, said regular polish does dry out the nails. I did look at it but the real culprit is the acetone in a lot of polish removers and I was wearing a Five Free polish before my manicure because Color Club and the other polishes I’ve gotten in my Ipsy bags and did get one in Glossy are all non-toxic. I should do a post more on nail polish since it’s my favorite thing. Gel can be harmful due to the UV exposure you get from the lamps to help cure the polish. I may go to a different salon since they kept pushing gel and all I wanted is just a regular manicure. Anyways, wishing the salon did their research first. Again, I will return to this polish brand since they are amazing and a bottle is around $8 or $9 depending on what you get. I did get a set of twenty-eight during Christmas time since I love this brand so much.

Switching from Drugstore Tops and Bases to Orally Top to Bottom

One thing I didn’t like about drugstore top and base coats is that they dry too quickly in the bottle, such as the Sally Hnasen Top & Base coat I had when RJ’s mom suggested when she got me into nail stips. While browsing Ulta for a top and base coat, I found this one from Orally where it is a two in one and I love it! This stayed liquidy in the bottle over time, even more than a month, while using it! Plus, when it becomes a top coat it makes my nails really Glossy. I prefer my nails glossy due to the top coat when most of the ones I used, especially the Top Shine from Sinful, made them still felt through the top coat. If you’re making a top coat, it should give a nice glossy effect even with glitter polishes! I will keep on buying this and Orally please don’t discontinue!

I think this is about it! I’ve been enjoying the products I’ve been using. I may return to this kind ofa post in the future. Let’s see what happens! Next up is Allure Beauty Box!
