Beauty Quadrant: BReasons for Beauty Brands Going Bankrupt

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe. I am back with another post!

Makeup Brands Going Bankrupt!

Again, I was watching What’s Up in Makeup and found out that Morphe is considering bankruptcy as well since months ago I heard that BH Cosmetics was going bankrupt but got bought out and then of course Revlon, one of the big ones in drugstores, also going bankrupt and there are some reasons why which I will be talking about!

Disclaimer: This post is based on thoughts and opinions of the lead writer of this blog. Please respect his thoughts on this subject. You have been warned!

So far, I have heard that BH Cosmetics has been bought by Makeup Revolution but on the heels we do have Revlon and Morphe’s parent company, Ferma, also going down this hole due to certain factors. Becca Cosmetics did go out of business recently and who knows who else would go that route and it’s hard to tell who is doing good or who is doing bad in the makeup sphere. Let’s see some factors I think that may contribute!

The Pandemic!

2020 was a new year and new things on most makeup brands’ horizons but what they didn’t expect was that a pandemic would happen. As we know, the virus known as CoVid 19 came to our world and basically changed it in not only viruses affecting each other but also the market itself. Becca closed its doors due to how they lost sales during the Pandemic but it is weird to say that a lot of online sales took place for a lot of brands because no one hardly took a step into a makeup store. Also, a lot of people were wearing masks and it was hard wearing foundation, powder, and concealer due to how much it gets into pores and they can’t breathe, the pores I mean. So, everyone did their makeup above the mask instead of under. BH Cosmetics  felt this the most because people were not buying as much when it came to their makeup and I had a feeling most people preferred getting skin care due to how people got a lot of acne underneath. I even was a victim of that for a short time.

Relying On Influencers

Jen pointed out the history of Morphe and one part of the history with them is how big they relied on the influencer market on YouTube due to how audiences were buying what they used. As I remembered as someone who watched a lot of YouTube back then and of course did buy things I seen advertised there, I always heard the famous line of “Use my code ‘insert name here 20’ for 20% off at checkout!”” I didn’t use the codes due to not having a job nor my own money in my account. I did get an Ulta credit card when they were heading to Ulta, well to build credit of course. I did purchase the vegan brush set and was not impressed, which will be my next point. I did notice as time went on that Morthey started losing these influencers due to scandals and even one, Jackie Eina, decided to take her code off from Morphe which can happen. Relying on influencers as your main market can be good at first due to how how they advertise on their channels except it can backfire due to how the audience would step away from the influencer with what takes place and that audience can also step away from the brand they promote, which Morphe relied on and relying just on that alone can lose sales.

Quality Does Not Match the Price

One of the issues of makeup brands is the quality can be either good or bad depending on how well the formula has been put together or the tool has been made. Morphe has been famous not only for their shadows but their brushes. I remembered how some of the influencers said that the brushes are the best ones you’ll ever use. As someone who has used brushes from many brands, these aren’t what I’ve expected, especially using the vegan set I purchased from Ulta. The brushes were not the best and I felt that one of them almost felt like it was about to shed. I heard in reviews on YouTube that they shedded while washing them and that can break a brush brand. Another example of quality being horrible, Revlon’s eye shadows. I have enjoyed some of Revlon’s shadows but have noticed some were not as pigmented such as one quad I got a while back. I had a hard time blending and flaking off my eyes. I preferred the products but I did have one instance when the lip tints had no product, which was odd! I mean one of the tints. Plus, these sponge tipped lip tints are mentioned through Allure and top notch. So, quality is a big thing when it comes to getting customers because they are putting their hard earned money, whether it’s being paid from their jobs or working through YouTube or Tic Toc, they want to spend their money on good quality and that is what most customers prefer.

Being in the Times of Social Media

This is important because social media is where you want to be. Back in the 1980s and 1990s there was no social media. We had advertisements on television and in magazines, especially teen magazines such as Teen People, J-14, and Tiger Beat. I remembered Cover Girl being advertised in Seventeen Magazine when I was twelve. Nowadays, you not only have YouTube with ads about different makeup brands but of course influencers talking about makeup brands as they do their makeup, even now Tic Toc with talking about brands such as Charlotte Tilbury and Tarte. I only have seen Revlon advertised once on YouTube and that was when Gwen Stefani talked about one of their lipsticks since she was well-known for her red lip. That was all and after that it was Maybelline, Cover Girl, and L’Ireal. I think Revlon has lost its touch in the current time and can see why they have lost sales. If you’re advertising in the current world and using social media then the sales would keep coming. I remembered getting into makeup that YouTube was where I found out about my products and went to WalMart and Walgreens and remembered the girls at WalMart asking me how I know about these products and I told them the internet. Without the internet showing these items then the brand would not get their money. Money basically helps the brand survive and without it they would go bye bye. I think that is why Revlon should try to get back into the game by being more open to the influencer market and also create more internet ads for people to recognize their products.

That completes this post. I felt better writing about makeup again that is not just subscription based. Which, I apologize for not posting about my Glam Bag like I usually would. Unfortunately, due to some events I am going to just get my November bag and unsubscribe afterwards and will explain next month after RangerStop, which is in three weeks and we are excited to be back at an Orlando convention after three years due to CoVid. We did get asked about Holiday Matsuri last year but no longer go to that one which I still have my reasons for. I will be doing a post about nail polish since I needed to do that a while ago. So, stay tuned!

Beauty Quadrant: Thoughts on Ulta’s Podcast Episode with Dylan Mulvaney

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and I am back with a post that should be thought about and I figured I should also share my thoughts.

Thoughts on Ulta’s BackLash Towards Their Podcast with Dylan Mulvaney

Disclaimer! This post is based on thoughts and opinions from the lead writer of this blog. Please respect her thoughts and what she thinks towards the hashtag against the company since she is human! You have been warned!

So, I was watching What’s Up in MakeUp this morning while having my lunch from Fresh Set since I slept in on a fine Sunday, I deserved after working and studying all week and this came across on the episode where people are boycotting Ulta because of their latest podcast episode with a trans woman and people thought it was “Woman Face” where it’s like “Black Face” where it’s bad to have a trans woman on to talk about her journey in becoming her own self and how beauty affected her. Even the host, David Perez who was gender fluid also talked about his journey as well. I felt like posting about this since it’s been a while talking about LGBTQ related issues such as this since we did lose a dear friend who has helped us and was about to go on their own journey.

As you know, I have been shopping at Ulta since around 2012 after finding their location at the Millenia Mall back then and fell in love with shopping in the NYX section every time I get that moment. I have bought from other brands such as Ulta’s own, Essence, Smashbox, and even Urban Decay. Makeup has been a creative outlet for me as a visually impaired person since I can’t draw on paper as much as I had in the past doesn’t mean I can’t find my new canvas. One thing that has been big ever since living with a conservative family is that I was drilled in my head that makeup is for girls only! However, makeup has not been really. The earliest time that men wore makeup was around 3000 BC in China where men wore nail polish as part of status, another example is Ancient Egypt with the eyeliner look we are familiar from seeing in ancient artwork along the tomb walls or even at the Mummy ride in Universal Studios. Even the Silla people of Ancient Korea believed that beautiful souls inhabited beautiful bodies that beauty belonged to both men and women, even their Hwarang army wore jewelry, powder, and rouge in battle.

So, let’s fast forward to 2016 when we started seeing new trends in wearing makeup where James Charles came onto the scene by being CoverGirl’s first Beauty Guy and this shook up the beauty game. I am pushing aside his controversies for this post because he has given a new path to new faces on YouTube where we have men like Manny MUA, Gabriel Zimora, even Jeffree Starr showing up and making videos all about makeup and this gave a new idea in self-expression, which some people have forgotten. Heck, for years, my favorite bands have worn eyeliner such as Good Charlotte, Green Day, Simple Plan, and so many more and they haven’t given smack for it either so why a transwoman in the first place when men have taken the beauty space and made it more unique? And why does it have to have boundaries?

Thoughts on Podcast Episode

I had to watch this podcast episode for myself to see where the backlash laid and there was nothing with it. I also just read Jeff Johnston’s article up to the point where a woman talked about on Twitter where Mulvaney can’t be a mother and how most women saw these two people in the video wearing makeup “mansplaining” girlhood. I saw more of a talk about how the two got to their point as a way of how to tell stories. As someone who has done podcasting, sorry for not having new episodes due to my schedule, podcasting is a way of storytelling and I have been in the audience of so many, especially Annie Spano’s Becoming Fearless where she talked about how she got out of a toxic situation and being her own girl boss and I think Mulvaney was telling his story from transitioning and that is what we need more of is seeing people going through their transitions as in seeing when they realize they were born in the wrong body and go through their transformation and seeing who they really are and doing things they didn’t like to what they liked and that is what this episode was about and Ulta celebrating it. Their response to it was even great where they said beauty has no boundaries and they are right about that.I feel that with how we are here in 2022 that beauty is one size fits all, I can see where Patrick Star got it, since we should not put a cap and say this is meant for girls when it’s really not, even with how history explained it all. I mean Ulta even featured someone in a wheelchair on their window displays as a way of celebrating people with disabilities and they are doing the same with transexual women and men. I did enjoy the episode and I hope Mulvaney keeps doing what she does since she wants to get back into theater and I respect that. I did love her story about the canopy bed since she was exploring decorating as a woman for the first time in her first apartment. I can relate since I had moved out in 2018 and didn’t start working yet so I couldn’t buy anything for my apartment after doing so, I had to rely on my dad on the moving journey by going to thrift stores, WalMart, Target, and Ollie’s for my stuff for kitchen and bathroom.

Should Beauty Have Boundaries?

Hell no! It should not, even with how Ulta showed it in this episode. Like I said, it was nothing vulgar or anything bad being portrayed, it was just two trans men  talking about their lives and how they came to be in the end and that is what we need to hear more about. People in the LGBTQ community get a lot of bad rep and they shouldn’t anymore since we are all human in this world. If I would, I could have turned the clock back to my college days and taken the courses on this topic since it is part of our culture and we shouldn’t push them aside either. I think this episode is a pivot point in our society where beauty can be anything, anyone, and any sex and gender since beauty and makeup has evolved and came a long way. I would say watch the episode for yourselves and see what you think. I see it as two people connecting and showing who they are and telling a story while others don’t see it that way but if they are boycotting Ulta, so be it. I am not boycotting the store since I have a convention coming up and I know I have to hit the NYX section for my favorite lipstick and eyeliner!

That is it for this post, you can catch the “Beauty of…Girlhood with Dylan Mulvaney” on YouTube.. If you want to comment, they did shut off comments there but you can comment on their Twitter.  What’s next? I will be talking about brands going bankrupt!

Subscription Satelite: Subscriptions I Left

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! It’s time to talk!

Leaving Some Subscriptions Behind

I normally don’t talk about my financial issues but due to moving into a new place with an extra room, plus a few other bills and how bad inflation has been happening, even though I heard on Nightly News that it is about to slow down, I have to unsubscribe from some of the beauty subscriptions. With my next refund from George Mason, I am going to pay off some of my cards, well half of them and pay the other half after passing this coming semester. I am halfway through the program guys and I’m really proud of myself since this school has given me another chance to follow my dream. I made a bit of a hard decision and decided to leave some subscriptions.

Glossy Box

I may have just joined this one all thanks to Theresa is Dead but this has been the weakest subscription I had and was hoping to let the August box be my last one but they took too long to ship it and unsubscribed once I made my decision. Even though I did like some of the items, they could have been better to have me keep this one. It was a great BoxyCharm replacement for a little while but had to let it go!

Allure Beauty Box

I love Allure but had to give this one up for a while as well. I love the box since it gives me an idea of what the editors enjoyed but some of the items have been a bit meh despite how much they’ve improved. I will come back to it  like I had before but when the time is right.

Glam Bag Plus

I am thinking of just keeping my Glam Bag because the idea of makeup bags every month is great and I feel like they know how to pair me with products. I do improve my profile as time goes on. Glam Bag Plus has become a bit meh with the choices but they have improved slightly. I did kick myself for the GBX this past month which is next. I will join back if I think the time is right, I wished they still had the makeup bags.

Glam Bag X

I have recently left this one and will be for good as well. I just got mine and they screwed it up again. This was a great bag at first but these past two bags shown had gotten bad. I loved the Halsi one the most and was glad to have what I got so far. What had happened if you’re wondering? This month they had Alicia Keys be the curator of the bag and I made my three choices which were the First Aid Beauty Oatmeal Toner, the Perricone MD Vitamin C cleanser, and the Super Goop Invisible Sunscreen, which I heard really good things about! I also bought an add-on which was a set of earrings from Baublebar, which I already made plans to get my ears pierced on my birthday and would use these once the holes healed up. When I got the box, I noticed only five items arrived and they were the items that Alicia chose for my bag. I was upset and RJ and Tobi understood my anger and I did unsubscribe from GBX. This was not the only time that this had happened when I didn’t get the Nudestix Blush Stick either. I did contact Ipsy through Messenger and had a screenshot of my bag and they told me that the toner was sold out like the blush stick. I did get a partial refund but will be getting the cleanser, sunscreen, and earrings replaced which they put the order in. I think I got the toner before and have to look to see if it was in one of my Ipsy bags when we moved.. I did tell them that they should have better oversight on the items when sending them out. I was thinking back to my Glam Bag Plus where they sent me the wrong items but the GBX costs $58 quarterly and if someone spends that much and notices missing or wrong items being sent, like I had, then what’s the point of keeping this when this is pretty expensive to begin with. I will keep a Glam Bag because it is cheaper but at least none of my items end up missing. I hope they also keep in contact with anyone about any items that may be sold out too and see if they want a partial refund or another item of the subscriber’s choosing. I did get 1.200 points which I have to see what they have up for points.

Which Ones Did I Keep?

I am keeping my Glam Bag since I have loved the original even though it is just samples and let me try new brands to try. I can’t use foundations, powders, and setting sprays for a bit though due to my piercings. I may rejoin Plus once things calm down in the money department but Glam Bag has still got my interest. I also have ScentBird now which I love perfumes and getting to try new thirty day supply of new scents and getting to buy some if I wanted to and have gotten some extras. I will be upgrading to two a month since I have a full queue. Way to go! I also have joined Quip all thanks to Emily D. Baker likes CC Suarez with ScentBird. I know other YouTubers also talked about ScentBird and Mile Higher did the same with Quip but can only use one code. I have been using electric toothbrushes ever since moving to the coast since manual ones were not cutting it and when my mom visited with my dad once she did notice my teeth looked way better. With the Quip one I got at the end of June, it’s been making my teeth feel smoother and also it’s hard for me to keep up with recharging my brush every month when I could get a new battery every three months! I also got a new brush head and am now getting toothpaste which I used to use a sensitive one but this one has been feeling great. I will be getting my refills next month. And finally, Athena Club which I joined after canceling my Dollar Shave Club and after hearing good things from Illuminati. I have sensitive skin and it was drying out so badly with the Dollar Shave razors and I feel a lot better with the ones from Athena Club and they cost around the same price as Dollar Shave since I get eight every renewal. I decided to switch it to six months for now since I have so many razor heads I packed up during the move. I am not kidding! Even the ones from Ipsy Refreshments fit my razor which I think I got mixed with the Athena ones due to being in the same kind of packaging. I will switch it to four months once I get through all of my back ups or close to it.

Well guys, that completes this post! I know it sounds sad of me talking about leaving some subscriptions but I have to do what I need to do. I also have so many items as back ups upon back ups! I also miss buying my own makeup at certain times even though it kept me from going overboard, but I have been better on focusing on what I need than my wants. Even though I could speak on my obsession with perfume, I have used up my Let’s Be Real and Electric Rhubarb supply. I will go back to Allure if things get better, I will update on Twitter. I will post my Glam Bag once I receive it! I will get to my Midnight Breed casting post soon.

Subscription Satelite: Items I Didn’t Like From My Subscriptions

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with another post!

Items I Don’t Like From My Subscription Boxes!

With August coming up, you know what that means, it means my subscriptions will be paid again. Which includes Glam Bag, Glam Bag X, Glossy Box, Allure Beauty Box, ScentBird, and Athena Club, which I do subscribe to for my shaving needs. And Quip for toothbrushing. As beauty boxes, I tend to give products a try but not all of them turn out the greatest and I tend to toss them and I admit I have a few I would like to mention. I may turn this into a series but let’s see what I have to say!

Briogeo Charcoal Scalp Scrub

First up is an item from Brioggio and it’s their scalp scrub and ugh! It didn’t do anything for my scalp, I felt it was just making it dirtier. I understand that my hair products do build up over time and it’s important to use something clarifying but this product didn’t do anything of that nature. I’m glad I tossed this when I had it since it didn’t do anything after two uses. I think I also got this in a bundle deal as well, but it was also tossed out after another try.

Christof Robin Waterless Shampoo

This also didn’t do anything either! I got this in Glossy Box one month and thought it was interesting because it was a paste you have to run through water and put it in your hair. Let it suds up and wash it and never use shampoo again. Unfortunately, it didn’t do anything of that nature. It did not suds up while I used it and I still needed my shampoo. It felt like what if you took my Carol’s Daughter pomade and used it as shampoo instead. I did toss this after the second time and glad I won’t be buying this.

Ofra Banana Powder

I recently tossed this because it was due to comments about my concealer. I got this in a BoxyCharm a year and a half ago and was happy that I did at first. I didn’t expect it to not play with my concealer very well while setting it. I have used certain concealers from the Cover Girl one to the Candid Concealer from Revlon which was discontinued and it still gets the comment that I didn’t blend it enough. I finally decided to let it go. I love Ofra Cosmetics but this was one product I didn’t like anymore. I will be sticking with my translucent powder for now on.

Ofra Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Havana Nights

I think I got this in a BoxyCharm but it’s the Ofra Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Havana Nights. I love the many shades I’ve used from this line but this one ran all over my face! Every other shade I used in the past never ran all over like this one. Heck, if you saw my interview with Tia Ballard, it kind of moved in that video since I wear liquid lipsticks during conventions due to being on the run a lot and hard to reapply. So, I tossed this a long time ago and won’t buy it again, well this shade specifically.

Girlactik Glitter Lip Pencils

I got these in a Glam Bag Plus when they first started. I didn’t like these Girllactic lip pencils because they were chunky and they didn’t feel right on the lips either. I haven’t tried the shadow stick I got in my GB Plus two last month but these pencils did get tossed though.

Sponge Pad from Glossy Box

I am not sure what brand this thing came from but it is a sponge pad I got in one of my Glossy Boxes and it was supposed to be great to use on all skin types including sensitive skin. When I used this it was very rough on my skin. I didn’t like how it spread my body wash so I tossed it as well. I prefer loofa balls more than something like this because it spreads my wash better. I do admit the Spongelle sponges are better than this because it is a shower gel and sponge in one and I remembered getting one of those in BoxyCharm years ago and it felt good. I wished that was in the Glossy Box that month instead.

Well, that’s it for those items so far. I may do more of these because I feel that not all items are the best that get placed into these subscriptions and it’s better to be honest than not. I forgot I was supposed to post my thoughts about the Midnight Breed Series after reading the final book. I will do that this weekend so stay tuned!

Subscription Satelite: Glam Bag Plus July 2022

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with another subscription!

Glam Bag Plus July 2022

It is time for Glam Bag Plus! With this bag, you get five full-size items and you get to choose three of them every month. This bag costs $28 and you get a drawstring bag with it. Let’s see what I got this month!

  • Murad Acne Control and Pore Control Modifier Broad Spectrum
  • Roen Beauty Kiss My Liquid Lip Balm in Scout
  • Solei Mini Heat Brush
  • Item Beauty Boost Dual Lash Primer and Colored Mascara
  • Bahamas Rosa Mosqueta Infused Lip Oil Duo

This month’s bag was really interesting with the choices. I was glad to see Murad  in this bag again since I love their items and glad to try them before finding out if they went on sale at Ulta. The Oil and Pore Control Broad Spectrum is a moisturizer with SPF in it. I will definitely use this since I ran out of my Sugar Cosmetics sunscreen from last month’s Glam Bag. The item that caught my eye in choice which got me to pick is the Solei Beauty Mini Heat Brush due to it being a bit of a flat iron. There are times where I like to straighten my hair and when I saw this in the choices I grabbed it right away! When I received it, I went into the bathroom to try it out and well, due to my hair being so thick it was hard to use and straighten my hair with how curly it it is. I did try and then after one night’s sleep, it returned to somewhat curly in one part of my hair but stayed straightish the rest. I think I may have to do is use this for one part to start it and then run my small flat iron through which is from Eva NYC and bring the straight out. I think it would work better that way and improve with the brush if it decides to curl again. With the idea of having smaller flat irons, they don’t take too much room and hoping to see more hot tools like these in the Glam Bag, I have seen the curling irons but I don’t need those. I did hear yone stylist did straighten someone’s hair with a curling iron though. I’d rather stick with a flat one. Another item that caught my eye is the Item Beauty Boost Dual Primer and Colored Mascara and was happy about this one due to just sticking with one mascara with the primer on one side. Even though the mascara is blue but I can get some uses with a blue eye look, which I haven’t done in so long. I will have to see how this item goes. I did try out one of the lip oils that I chose and it felt nice on my lips. I know I will get some uses out of these. I haven’t tried the lip balm yet which I was meaning to but other things did get in the way. I will try it sometime soon!

This bag was really good this month! I have to keep trying the heat brush as time goes on and I feel this one was better than the one I got on EBay years ago to try straighten my hair better and I will try out the Murad moisturizer SPF and see how well that item goes too. Next month will be another Glam Bag X. Hoping it won’t be like the last one where I didn’t get the item I hoped to try out, also hoping they don’t sell out of it either. I did find out that the next curator is and happens to be Alicia Keys, which will be interesting. I can’t wait to see what will be the first items and what would be up for choice on August 2nd. Next up is Glam Bag!

Subscription Satelite: Allure Beauty Box July 2022

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe. I am back with a new post.

Allure Beauty Box July 2022

I got my Allure Beauty Box and this month it has stuff to pamper oneself. I like the idea of these kinds of boxes since things have been stressing me out as of late. If you saw my updates about being a little delayed due to projects, you already know! This box is $23 a month and you get either six or seven items based on favorites by the editors of Allure. Let’s see what I got!

  • PCA Rebalance Daily Moisturizer
  • Ofra Liquid Lipstick in Canyon
  • Manime Mochi Peach Ombre Kit
  • Hero Mighty Patch micro Point for Dark Spots
  • Nativia Spa Starter Kit
  • Larosche Pose Lipicure Gentle  Hydrating Face Wash

I used up one of the items since it was easy to use and was so excited about this box! I used up the La Roche Posay face wash since I figured it would be something I could get into but may be a bit pricey. I do admit I liked this better than the Sediaphil face wash from a few months ago because that one did not foam up like this one. I thought it was an issue with the product and that some units didn’t foam up but it doesn’t foam up at all and want to know if it’s working by foaming up and washing my face! I am just using up my second bottle and not buying another one since it does not foam up and I am trying another face wash for the shower. The Larosche Pose one did foam up and do what I expected in a face wash and didn’t irritate my face due to how much it’s good for the sensitive skin types. It also didn’t have a scent. I was glad to use this item up. I did break into the lotion set that came in this box because I was not expecting something like this in my box before and hoping to get more things like this, even though I did get a mini set of hair items in my Glam Bag which is coming up soon. These lotions not only have a scent but also Kinwa oil as well. I still have some dry areas on my legs and am still using the Not Pot lotion from a month ago, I will definitely give these a try after just once. The Ofra lipstick will be something I will use since I do love these and hoping it doesn’t run all over my face like Havana Nights had done. I think they improved the formula on these to keep from going all over. This shade is a terra cotta and makes sense due to the canyons taking on the color of terracotta. I will see how this goes! The Anime manicure set is a gel nail polish sticker set and I am not normally into something like these due to how I tried nail strips before and they came off pretty quickly. I guess it may be due to the company making them. I haven’t worn any press ons as of late either. I may have RJ or Tobi assist me with these since you just apply and let dry and file off any excess like regular nail strips. I Hope they go well. And of course the moisturizer! I will be using this of course to keep my face moisturized over time. Glad to get another since I don’t have to worry about buying anything else from the store with my stash. Currently working on one moisturizer though.

This box was a great box! I will have to give the gel manicure stickers a try and see how those go. I did like the face wash since it didn’t irritate my face at all. The lotion is one thing we definitely need since it’s good to have a deluxe size of lotion from time to time. The Ofra lipstick is something I will definitely use with how much I loved these over time. We will see about the moisturizer. Can’t wait to see what Allure has for August. Since getting back with this box I’ve gotten some pretty good items and some items that were not my favorite, which I should do a post about items that were not my favorite from past subscription boxes. I may do it after these boxes. What’s next? I will do my Glam Bag Plus!

Subscription Satelite: Glossy Box July 2022

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with the first subscription of the month!

Glossy Box July 2022

My Glossy Box arrive and man I had to email them again about my address and mad a bit that they didn’t make it clear. The thing was I had to choose subscriptions and change my delivery address that way, which is confusing when most of the time you have to do it in your address book. When I saw my old apartment number, I was mad! I emailed them and that was when they explained it. I don’t get why they didn’t make it clearer the last time I asked them about it and glad that USPS forwarded it over because this month’s box was better than most of the others including last month’s. Let’s see what I got!

  • Earth Harbor Sunstone Revival Hair Elixir
  • Give Them La La La Mascara
  • Bella Pierre Peach Blossom Shadow Pallet
  • ParmRX Buckuciol Serum
  • Cleo } Cocoa Charcoal Deodorant Mini

This was a pretty good box this month because it was different and it contained some items that really got me excited. I was glad about another serum since I do love using these during my skin care routine in the morning and night. I was also happy about the mascara and put it in my Caboodle which is great to have a full-size. I was not expecting the deodorant though since I haven;t seen it in my other subscriptions, which Ipsy does their deodorants in Refreshments. I did get Refreshments but they took too long to get to me and decided to stick with Athena Club due to getting more razors every three months. I am glad to get the hair elixir which I thought was going to be a facial oil but it was not. I guess I will give this a try and hope it will do wonders and keep my hair soft. The shadow pallet from BellaPierre did come in one piece because it was not on top which I am happy about. This box was definitely a good one! I Hope next month will be another good one!

Well guys, that is it! I will be trying to get my other subscription posts up if I can since the next two weeks are going to be nothing but projects for school. The semester ends at the end of this month and I’m glad I get a few weeks before Fall starts and I can relax and refresh my mind. So, bear with me until then. Subscription Satelite: Glam Bag June 2022

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with the last subscription for this month!

Glam Bag June 2022

Sorry for the long wait for this post but my Glam Bag didn’t arrive until last week and school got me for the rest of the week. Plus, I needed a day off from everything due to fatigue. I’m glad to be back and to post this! This bag is normally $13 but due to inflation it will be raised to around $14 next month. I know some people would be a rip off but after the craziness with GBX, I did link my post about that onto Ipsy’s comment board and someone complained about the items and I did explain you’re not guaranteed what you want is what you get, which is true. It even says at the start of the survey so if anyone wants to join please understand that. Your survey will match you with products from brands you may love over time or may not heard of and you tend to get either deluxe size or full size. Let’s see what I got this month!

  • Beauty Creations Thickening Mascara
  • Laruce 105L Short Shadow Brush
  • Plim Candy Candy Melts Vegan Lip Balm in Melon Bubble Yum
  • Sugar Cosmetics Goddess of Flawless Sunscreen
  • Eyeko Black Magic Eyeliner Travel Size
  • Beauty Vault Shadow Quad in Plum (Add-On)

This month was a pretty good one since I did have a surprise with the Beauty Creations mascara. At first I thought it was going to be another deluxe size but when it arrived it was a full-size mascara! I rarely get that in this bag! I normally get it in GB Plus and GBX but not here! I did remember in the past that they sent full-size NYX Lip Lingerie lipsticks in the past but here, this was a mascara! I am glad that they did this because I can try out something full-size and see how it goes even though the deluxe version gives you a preview of how it goes. The product says thickening which I did read that it’s supposed to thicken my lashes and I will be putting this to the test with that claim. It is also a drugstore one, which I saw the price being $8 which you do get for any other drugstore mascara for the same price and I do enjoy a drugstore mascara myself. The brush from Laurce is always handy since I can use this as more of a brow bone brush to sweep some shadow under the brow to accent muy shadow choices or go have a sharper case, you’ll never know. What got me to use the products right away were the sunscreen from Sugar Cosmetics and the lip balm from Plum Candy. First, the lip balm is because my lips were super dry from burning my lip all thanks to being way too excited with curry and it hurt like crap! Now it;s mostly healed but I did use this to help with dryness after putting the burn ointment and the Vaseline Lip Therapy which I need some added moisture. This Bubble Yum when I was a kid. Like any kid, I did love chewing gum but not as an adult, it was ruined for me over the years. It does feel good on the lips. I did try buying the actual product but the brand is overseas and I am afraid of my financial info being compromised, which did happen once when I did buy a perfume from Lush once, UK side by the way, and my card info got taken. So, I rather let Ipsy give me the items instead. While wearing sunscreen, I was surprised that Sugar Cosmetics released sunscreen and had to try it and so far so good I had no breakouts from this. It just goes on smooth and my skin was okay after washing it off since my skin can get itchy from certain products, this one nope! I thought it was just in time because the heat has been brutal as of late here in Florida, I can imagine the rest of the country! And of course, again, why black eyeliner! I put in my profile I want this sometimes not always because I have so much all thanks to this and BoxyCharm! I feel like I can help all of the punk and emo bands that come through Orlando by supplying them with all of my black eyeliners I have collected over time! I could be the merchant from Resident Evil 4 with the jacket having nothing but eyeliner pencils and pens! At least this one is from Eyeko though I do love their mascara! I will have to see how this goes even though I am tired of black eyeliners yet glad I don’t have to buy any eyeliner unless it’s a nude liner I need from Ulta. And finally, it’s been a long time since I got Add-ons. I don’t like that I have to wait a little longer to get my bag that I get my add-on in but this month I got a credit for what had happened during the last GBX and I did use it on the Beauty Vault Quad which caught my eye basically. I haven’t tried this brand so I will see how it goes!

That completes this bag and completes my subscriptions for this month! Glad to make it through and felt bad for not doing May since it was so chaotic! Hoping July won’t be as crazy since my summer semester will be winding down at the end of July and hoping to get a better schedule of posting out. Next post will be about anime that should have their manga versions animated! Stay tuned!did bring back the memories of buying\

Subscription Satelite: Allure Beauty Box June 2022

2 Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and their dads and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with the next subscription!

Allure Beauty Box June 2022

It’s time for the Allure Beauty Box and I do have to say that this made up for the disappointment from Glossy Box because the products are amazing this month. This box is curated by the Allure Editors with products they have loved throughout the months and placed them in the box with full and deluxe sizes for $23. Since I announced the slight price rise with Ipsy last post, I have not seen anything about Allure doing the same thing since they are a well-known magazine but they have been an online publication for a while since I do get articles sent to my inbox everyday. Hoping they keep it at this price every month since the value is pretty nice. Let’s see what they shipped to me!

  • Ciata London Everyday Vacay Pallet
  • CosRX Full Fit Light Ampule
  • Floss Beauty Lip Advocate Lip Tint
  • La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm Plus Intense Body Cream
  • Sephora Smooth + Blur Primer
  • Simbiosis Hyaluronic Acid + Shea Butter Ultra Rich Night Treatment

I know I didn’t include links but figured this would be easier to do since anyone can do a search for these items except for the Everyday Vacay Pallet, which I could only find a review of and can be found on Mercari and EBay. Not sure if this item is discontinued since Ciata didn’t have it on their site under Everyday Vacay. Did Allure have this in their offices for a year or so? Usually brands won’t keep products for a while after the collection is done. Now, I’m not saying Allure had expired products, I am just wondering if this was something in their vault or was given by Ciata a year back or just recently for the box if they had new packaging? I am just wondering why this is not linked anywhere on the net when it’s not on the official website and how did it get into Allure’s hands? I know BoxyCharm went through a scandal with some products being expired a while back especially with the Boxy Pop Up where I just watched someone’s video about a rose oil that’s expired. I am not sure as of now but will have to see how this product goes since I do like what I’ve tried from Ciata all thanks to these subscriptions. This box also gave me my first La Roche Posay product for me to try. I have seen their sunscreen being advertised but it’s way out of my budget when it comes to skin care. The highest I would spend on skin care would be in the $20 range and if it’s something like Sunday Riley or La Rosch then I just use it and find a dupe for it that would work as well, like this repair cream I got from them. I know it will be expensive on Ulta and glad to get a sample size since having samples is the best. I bet you guys may tell me that I should spend the most on skin care, not exactly. I do get Murad but only on sale especially during 21 Days of Beauty but a $12 moisturizer from the drugstore would probably do the same as $100 moisturizer, I am just saying. I will use this of course. I also did receive another Floss item which is a lip tint. I burned my lips and let them heal before I use anything besides lip balm, a Vaseline lip therapy, and burn ointment. Long story short, I just did a taste test with curry when it happened. It was straight out of my slow cooker if anyone is wondering. I put the Apule in my bathroom and started using it since this is my first Ampule I’ve ever had and so far it has not broken me out since I used it last night and this morning. I will have to see how this goes since CosRX is a good brand and heard of them through James Welsh, also I think I got some items from when I was with No Make No Life a year ago. The Sephora primer is something that was a bit of a surprise since I am more of an Ulta shopper and fan of their own brand, it’s good to try another store’s brand to see how they go. I will put this in my everyday makeup Caboodle. All I have to say this was a good box, but a little suspicious of the Ciata shadow pallet.

That completes this box! It did help with the disappointment I had towards Glossy Box since I did have that blush break on me and glad I went on Pixie’s website to pick up another one. I will definitely start using the lip tint once my lips heal from the burn. I am still using the Ampule from CosRX which so far has been good. I can’t wait to see what the editors picked for next month with Fourth of July looks about to happen. I am waiting for another Color Club order since I did pick up their Fourth themed polish and needed a white polish to match. Next will be my Ipsy bag and also have another post in line! Stay tuned!
