The Convention Quadrant: Holiday Matsuri 2018 Opening Ceremonies!

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe! I am back with a post that was supposed to be up a while back!

Holiday Matsuri 2018 Opening Ceremonies!

I know, why am I doing this close to the end of May? Well, life did get in the way! Ever since Gondras and I moved into our own place, took place during the Volcano Bay hang out when there should have been a Google Hangout for Press, things have happened since. As in me starting my job, getting unpacked, doing groceries, getting things for our living room and well during January the both of us got sick except me it was serious with a sinus infection! We weren’t able to upload the last two videos which one was the Opening Ceremonies. While doing groceries for the weekend on the day the convention started, Nerdy Shirts texted me about recording the Opening Ceremonies and said, “Yes but not the dancing parts!” The past years we did record them we got claimed for the music being in the shot. Anyone doing press at any convention, just record the important parts and not any performances because YouTube loves to claim everything for Copyright even if it’s overseas. Heck, I did warn the Press Staff at Matsuri about Idol Fest, this is one good reason for a Hangout to mention.

Anyways, hope you guys have enjoyed these videos. Sorry for the wait due to life getting in the way and this will be our last Opening Ceremonies at Holiday Matsuri we will ever record. I will explain in the next post which is the voice actor’s panel that Nerdy Shirts also recorded! Stay tuned!

Accessibility: How Nerd Conventions Can Be Accessible!

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds and welcome back! I am back with another post and this time it does deal with blindness and accessibility and my convention world.

How Nerd Conventions Can Can Be Accessible to the Blind

As you guys know and might have read The Blind Perspective: Convention Stories from the Dark, I’ve been an anime or more like a nerd convention goer since 2004 if you count a day at JACON but didn’t really start going until the year after while being with THEE X at the time. I have had many stories from my being an attendee with some sight and when I lost my sight it became a new outlook and perspective in going to these events. As years have gone, I have noticed things about the nerd conventions and that is some accessibility issues. I have posted an idea over on the Holiday Matsuri Facebook Group and decided why not expand it to here since I do write blindness related topics and Accessibility has been a huge topic being thrown around and I felt like why not show what I think should make a convention more accessible to the blind.

Town Criers Yelling Out Different Areas: This year I went to the National Federation of the Blind National Convention and while attending I heard people calling out where different areas are like where Registration was, where the General Sessions were and so on and it did help out because it told us as blind people where to go. I posted this exact idea on the Holiday Matsuri Group which got a lot of good responses because some conventions are held at very big locations like MegaCon at the Orange County Convention Center and Holiday Matsuri at the World Center Marriot. Another example, DragonCon in Atlanta spans over five hotels and knowing those are also huge in their convention center area. Reason for posting this besides getting the idea from the NFB Convention was that last year I had a hard time finding the Main Events room and I asked people and they pointed and said, “Over there!” As a blind person you don’t know what “Over there” is and I will touch on that even more next. Having people call out the areas like “Panels Over here to your right” or “Main events down this way!” It will help out because it not only shows its location but helps with going in the right direction. If it happened last year and heard, “Main Events down this way!” I would know just to head straight and then ask the person calling it to make sure and they said, “Just head straight.” Because there were times where I heard people ask the people for a double check and they answered the question.
Volunteers Being Sighted Guides: Touching more on the “It’s Over There!” Someone did post that they had a similar situation with a staff member where the person was pointing and tried to tell the staff member that they can’t see pointed fingers and didn’t do more about it. This is where the idea of having a sighted guide volunteer comes in. Conventions have asked for a lot of volunteers over the years and they do get tons over time, heck I have volunteered myself at JACON when it was alive and MegaCon twice before doing press. Having extra volunteers on hand can help anyone who may need the sighted guide help in getting to a particular area of the hotel or the convention itself? For instance, Omni Fandom Expo Year 1 I had a volunteer help me to get around since Omni was also at the World Center and it was hard to navigate when my mobility skills were rusty at the time. She helped me out getting to some of the signing tables and even to the bathroom which was great. Yeah it took around twenty minutes as a guesstimate but it did help out in a way. Having the volunteers able to do this can help someone who may be lost or can’t find the room if they couldn’t hear the person yelling or someone on a speaker system, trust me it was hard to hear the speakers in the MegaCon Vendor Room back in the past. What about getting to know about sighted guide if you’re a staff member reading this? Proper sighted guide is where the person offers the elbow or arm and the blind person grabs on not the other way around. A newer technique is also grabbing above the elbow like a cup to make it more comfortable. And another thing is, during volunteer meetings try asking the volunteer meetings if they can be able to guide anyone to certain areas such as bathrooms, panel rooms, even the doors for any ride pickups that a person need help with. In the end, volunteers are there to help and should help even further.
Having Convention Guides As Accessible Material: One thing that makes a convention exciting is the convention guide that tells you about guests, events, and the hours of the vendor room and gaming room but issue is not being able to read it and seeing the pretty pictures. Having an accessible digital version of the convention guide can help! I remembered having the full on Convention Guide for the NFB Convention on my Braille Sense Polaris as one huge Word Document. Did it help? Yes! It did tell me what events are at what time and where to go and the times for the Independence Market too each day. Whether it’s in PDF format or a Word Document, having the convention guide in one of these formats minus the photos can be something very easily accessed even placed onto a device that is portable like a phone with Google Docs for example or like I said above, my Braille Sense Polaris so I can read it in Braille. Which brings me to another point.
Placing Braille Index Cards with Room Names on Cardboard Signs: Yes, another point I found is that on easels placed around most conventions there are signs showing what room it is and/or just the panels being in that room. Since I mentioned the accessible document for Convention Guides, having an index card with the panel room number and the actual room’s name can be easier than just guessing or getting the rooms mixed up. There may be a volunteer at the door or not but after double checking the schedule for a specific event or seeing if you’re at the vendor room by finding the card on the easel can tell that you’re in the right place. Plus index cards aren’t that expensive but getting them made best to look into a Braille printing service or know someone who’s blind that can do it.
Having Music Zones: Someone posted this as a comment on my idea why not music in certain areas play. It would be a nice idea but it can get a little louder and a little bit mixed up because I admit I have that happen sometimes but if the music is more subtle and I walk towards the door and hear “Jingle Bells’ on a small speaker for Registration or a video game song like “Casino Night Zone” for the gaming room for example then I know where I am. Having that subtle speaker next to the door can help with what room you’re about to walk in. Even MegaCon had some subtle background music during the more main panels like the Mass Effect panel and the Flash panel if I remember. Yeah, I noticed with my hearing, it shows that music shouldn’t be so loud to scream over nor too low to hear it has to be just right.

Well, that’s about it for this post. Hoping for anyone that is on staff for a convention reads this and can pass it along because as a nerd I and how big accessibility is becoming it gives more inclusivity. For instance, movie theaters having the audio description option for movies and how Audible is having more audiobooks in their library for people. Heck, back to the accessible document, I helped with making Nemecene being more accessible if you haven’t read the review for the first book. All in all, more places are getting more accessible and now nerd conventions should join in since there are more blind people getting into a lot of these things.

So, what is next for Nerdy Shique Universe? I’m still reading the Alex Verus novels, still on Veiled and hoping to keep on reading. I know the Ipsy October bag will be here and once it arrives I will post about it. So, make sure you follow us on Twitter and stay beautiful while traveling the universe!

Hauls + Accessibility: Hot Cash April 2018 Haul and Microsoft Soundscape Review!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Well, here is a mash up I never thought I would do! You know I love shopping even at Hot Topic and tech and this is a mash of tech and a haul since I got my Hot Cash Haul for 2018 and tested out a new app while I’m at it! Let’s start with the haul shall we?

Hot Cash Haul April 2018!

So, Hot Cash has come and gone at Hot Topic and this time all thanks to some purchases in February I did get two of them and it was a hard thing to choose when knowing what to get in order to meet that amount you have to get a discount! I had #30 off this time around let’s see what I got!

Sailor Moon Sailor Guardian Symbols Earring Set! You all know that I have been a Sailor Moon fan for the longest time and and had a major nostalgia bomb when I watched the re-dub. When I saw these on the website, I knew I had to have them. They are earrings of the original five guardian symbols that you see in the series when they reveal themselves as Sailor Guardians. I was really happy about it due to the Jupiter symbol in there since Jupiter is my all-time fave scout or guardian! Sorry! I wished they made the earrings Sailor Moon and Mars wore, I always wanted those!
Spike Gem Earrings! I know it sounds crazy but these earrings are almost like icicles in a way but they’re plastic spikes. I kind of feel like Hot Topic is coming back with the spike items since I saw a choker with spikes with a ring in it like in the past which I almost got but decided not to. These earrings were interesting and never seen before. I have gotten the spiked hoops which were heavy but looked great and even worn them with my Digimon character but these are cool! I feel like I had my ears pierced with these but they are more of a stud style. Hot Topic! Make more earrings like these!
Loki Septor Necklace! You all know who know me, I love Tom Hiddleston’s Loki from the Marvel movies! I can’t help it because he does it so well! While looking for items for this haul, I was looking for items related to the Avengers due to Infinity War coming out today and found Loki’s septor as a necklace. I added it to my bag right away and was surprised that when I got it it was a horizontal charm necklace like my Panic! At the Disco one. I’m wearing this with my Fairy Tail emblem and Panic! Necklaces and it gives an interesting layer when you look at it. Oh yeah, next author pic, I’m wearing these three necklaces!
New Doctor Who Logo Shirt! I did get two t-shirts since there are times where my large tees don’t fit as well as they used to due to my shoulders and I’m pretty much plus sized at the moment. This shirt was something I’ve been wanting for a while and that is my new Doctor Who logo shirt. As we all know is that the new season is coming out this fall and with it there is a new logo and Hot Topic happened to have a shirt with it and released it around February but decided to wait a bit before I got it since I was getting Hot Cash. The wait was worth it since I got the $30 off my entire order. I’m happy that I finally got it and can’t wait for the newest season in the fall!
Avengers Infinity War Collage Tee! So, Infinity War is out and I thought it would be perfect to get a shirt for the newest movie and the good thing that Hot Topic had a ton of t-shirts to choose from based on Marvel. I got the one where all the characters are in a collage since in this movie we will be seeing a ton of characters appearing and can’t wait! In case anyone is wondering, yes I caught Sebastian Stand, Bucky Barnes, on The Talk yesterday and it was great watching him talk a little bit of the movie and the pics they took as one big cast. I can’t wait to see this movie and will be wearing my Thor Thunderbolts and Loki Septor!

Additional Items:

Exchanged Sailor Moon Cat Cup for Pushin Cat Bottle! Well, after this order, I did notice Hot Topic was doing a discount code but couldn’t use it with Hot Cash so I went for the Sailor Moon cats travel cup. I didn’t know it was going to be one of those cups you tend to get for a kid when I saw it in person or felt it. I thought it was going to be a sealed tumbler because when you hear “travel cups” you think to that or the mug version and was wrong. I had to exchange it for something better and it’s a water bottle with pushin cats! It may not be a tumbler but it also has cats! I love this thing even if it has the straw inside. The reason why I prefer sealed bottles or tumblers is because I tend to knock over my drinks and with it being sealed tight there would be no spills. I am glad that this one is the same way where you have tightly sealed and the straw comes up easily.

Avengers Infinity War Makeup Pallet and Too Many Dead Pools Shirt! Gondras brought me a coupon that Hot Topic had sent him and he knew I would put it to good use and I did! What got me to use it is that they advertised an eye shadow pallet based on the Infinity Stones from the Marvel movies and other shades in it. I was hoping they would have it in store but they sold out and had to go online. What else I picked up was a Dad Pool shirt since the last Dead Pool shirt I got for I was many years ago and it was of him with the cake and the portal behind him as a Portal joke. I got the one with Too Many Dead Pools. I almost got the one with him and Domino but this one was funnier and I prefer the funnier shirts with him, I mean Gondras has the one of him punching a shark that Nerdy Shirts got him. Now my shopping spree is over.

Soundscape!

Besides picking up my order, I did have a bit of a mobility test with myself and it’s with an app I’ve been using lately and it’s called Soundscape which is made by Microsoft and only available in the App Store on IOS devices. What got me to get this app is because of one situation with paratransit during my customer service training at the local Lighthouse. There are times where I get home early and other times I get home so late it’s unacceptable and this time it was really unacceptable because I live nearby the Lighthouse which is around thirty minutes or less but nope! They didn’t get me home until close to 8 at night! Even Gondras was on the phone with me when it happened and that is why he picked me up during the last weeks of training because it made him mad and concerned that they are doing this time to time. I understand that too since there are times where some people need priority drop offs.

What is this app? Well, it’s basically a location app that uses your Location Tracking to tell you were you are with the “My Location” button which tells you the direction you’re heading or what place you’re at, what’s around you with the “Around Me” button which tells you the businesses and intersections and streets around you if you’re walking or on the bus, what’s ahead of you with “Ahead of Me” which tells you what road and intersection or business is ahead. This app tells me what’s in the park next to my neighborhood in miles! Good thing is that I use it to see if I am heading home or not on the paratransit to see where the driver drove to. Gives you a better perspective. So, I decided to test this app out at Altamonte Mall which is where I was picking up my package and wanted to test it out in a semi-crowded mall. When I went today, I decided to have the transit system drop me off at Barnes & Noble to make it easier than picking a random department store. I decided why not use the Beacon Setting which now it added a feature where I can mute and unmute the beacon noise in order to hear the announcements and if I’m ready to come back. I did use the Beacons on Tuesday when I went to Walgreens with the paratransit after an appointment with Blind Services to look at my new Braille device that’s being purchased and happy about and set the Beacon Setting with Walgreens and went to lunch at the nearby pizza place and enjoyed two slices of pizza and walked back to Walgreens to wait for my ride. This time I used it with Barnes & Noble since that was going to be my pick up point at the end of the day and muted the noise because it can be a little distracting. I turned on the announcements and when I walk by places, which I walked around the top floor first to get a better feel and for Soundscape to catch everything so if I were to come back to a place I would know where to get back to. I did use my sensory training from Daytona Beach as well to hear any key sounds, notice some lights that are particularly bright, and any unique music coming from a particular store.

Even Life after Sight Loss did talk about this on their YouTube, which I also thank them for this app in the first place, and using that sensory recognition to know where is what can tell you a lot. One thing that tells Hot Topic apart is the metal that is usually played on the speakers, Bath & Body Works and now White Barn Candle have their usual scents wafting outside in the corridor, which you can smell a mile away, there’s a popcorn stand where you smell the butter and at least it’s a lot lighter than it used to be. All-in-all this app is really good but I wish not only Soundscape give the unit of measurement, either in yards or meters depending on the setting, but tells you if it’s on the left or right of you because when I walk I tend to not know if a certain store or aisle is on my left or right and without that it can be a little confusing. Microsoft if you read this, which I will be tagging them on Twitter, add that to the settings or have it automatic because it can help some people that need that added information.

Rating On The App: 4.5 Star Paw prints Out of 5! This app is a really good app and so far Microsoft has been hitting it on the ball with helping in the Accessibility department. They have added more support with JAWS even with Edge which I still need a new license key in order to play around with Edge. Their mobile apps are really good which I love using Seeing A. I. for doing product identification, color help, and even short text reading. While Soundscape, it does give you the locations and it did that for me in Altamonte very well. I want to try this app at Florida Mall since that mall is huge and crowded due to how big of a tourist spot it is and of course I heard that there’s an Inglot store which I never knew and just seeing their cosmetics with just number labels don’t help me at all so I need to explore more with this app and I will give you another review in how much it works at the Florida Mall. If you think I should try it out at other malls or places Like Disney Springs for example, I would love to do that! If you’re visually impaired and need an app like this, I would say try it out since not all apps are for everyone, I did have my teacher in the training course download it and she did suggest it at the Lighthouse Reunion since it did give her the location updates. And a head’s up, any Android users, it’s not available for Android. Hoping there will be a version for those users along with Soundscape.

Well, that’s it for this post! I know it was pretty lengthy but it was something I wanted to share and add something to the Accessibility part of this blog. I will see how it works anywhere else and hoping more things get added. Stay tuned later on today for a new book review! Make sure you follow us on Twitter for the latest updates @ Nerdy Shique!

Bests & Worsts of 2017!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Happy New Year all and it is time for the Bests & Worsts of 2017! Man, this was a fast year and man I have things to say in both the Bests and Worsts!

Disclaimer: This list is based on thoughts and opinions and observations of what took place this year! Please respect with what I thought and thank you!

Bests:

Interview: Chris Rager and Josh Martin from Omni Expo 2017! Man, this year was a lot of drama when it came to interviews but I feel like I had to mention one in this category and that is my interview with Chris Rager, who voiced Hercule Satan, and Josh Martin, who voice Magen Boo, from DBZ. This was the second duo interview we’ve ever done in the NSU past since we have done it with the Dino Thunder rangers at Omni 2016 and when I found out that Chris Rager and Josh Martin were going to be guests this past year I thought to ask Gondras to see about doing another duo interview since the last we have done was a success. It had fun doing this one actually because I got to have my talk show moment with these two and we did have the couch and I felt like Wendee Williams, the Talk cast, and so on interviewing these two. I would so do a talk show or join one since talk shows are my guilty pleasure during certain times in the year. I do call my interviews the Shique Hot Seat and will keep it calling that even with Omni next year! I also have to say where the staff placed us for interviews was also great since we do enjoy the privacy and not so much noise since we do have the Florida Mall areas underneath. If you haven’t seen the video, I would go into our archive or on our YouTube channel directly.

Email Interviews: Linda Ballantyne and Katie Griffin from Sailor Moon! As you know the problems with us and MegaCon interviews so I had to take it to Twitter to see if anyone wanted to do email interviews where I send the questions to a voice actor or actress and we get the answers and I was happy to do it with Katie Griffin, the original voice of Sailor Mars, and Linda Ballantyne, one of the original actresses of Sailor Moon. These two were major sweethearts and understanding with what happened since I felt upset about not having that one on one with them. One thing I do love about doing the Shique Hot Seat in person is more interpersonal and you get to actually see them in the camera and interact with me. I am so glad I did start doing videos but Mega said no so the next best thing and I did thank them in person and gave them lanyards I made themed of their Sailor Scouts. I even wore my Sailor Moon R broach. I did read the interviews and did enjoy their answers too, you will see what Christina V. said when I asked if she had met Katie since you have read Katie’s response about Christina. So stay tuned for that! I still thank Katie and Linda for doing that for me and I am very grateful for it.

Movies: I bet you are wondering why I put “movies?” Well…this year we only saw five movies that were really awesome and it is hard to pick out and I will say the reasons why I chose them and not in particular order either.

1. The Last Jedi: First is the new Star Wars flick to be released this year and we just saw it last week. I know normally we would catch it first day but Holiday Matsuri was on opening day. This movie was awesome and it does show how the torch gets passed onto the next person to be a Jedi. Yes, the story was clunky to some but how they told it was very well done and it flowed. I never thought playing around with telepathy like they did would take place in a film like they did. And we got to see the Yoda puppet return for this movie and I missed that about Episode 2 since they did him in C. G. I.! Thank you Disney for bringing the puppet back. Also, I have to give props to Little Kuriboh for this because he was the one who did the audio description! Nerdy Shirts did tell me about it and when I listened to it I did hear snippets of Yami and Kaiba a little bit in the description but they did pick the right person for this since he did get the dramatization right, heck I even went wide-eyed from the suspense during the description. Way to go man!
2. Thor: Ragnarok: Next is Thor: Ragnarok which I have to say was the strongest of the Thor flics in the Marvel universe. Dark World was funny but they cut down on Chris Eckleston’s character during this and the first one was fun but to me the third one was the best because you do have the call back to Dr. Strange and also bringing back the Hulk and following the apocalyptic myth in the Norse myths. I did love Cate Beckinsale as Hela, I know it is supposed to be Hel but this is Disney after all, but she did a very good job on this character after her character in the Underworld series. And the comedy flowed a lot better in this one than the other two because as you all know that comedy has to flow not be forced nor take over the action most of the time like the second one. I can’t wait what awaits Thor and Hulk in Infinity War with the other Avengers!
3. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2: I have so many words to say but this one did continue Guardians very well since we did get to see what happened to Quill’s mom in the first and then see what happened and who his dad was in the second one. This movie made me laugh the most and I thought I would go into tears from so much comedy even though the part that had me laughing the most was when Baby Groot brought a person’s toe to Rocket’s and Yandu’s cell. Sorry to say, with this one, I didn’t recognize most of the songs except for “Surrender” by Cheap Trick to be honest. Still, this was very entertaining and a great start for the summer movies! I can’t wait to see the Guardians’ role in Infinity War too next year since they are showing up.
4. Wonder Woman: Finally a movie that Warner Brothers did right! I am so glad Zack Sneider didn’t touch this one with his writing nor directing because with how they did this movie was perfect! Yeah, it is supposed to be in World War II but this did work out in the end. Too bad they didn’t continue this movie making in Justice League because I heard how the movie was not that great.
5. Spiderman Homecoming! And finally, Spidey’s back! We were happy that this film brought back the whimsy and comedy we loved about Spidey in the cartoons and a sweet relief that Marvel has him back and can do the proper films with him. Seeing the Vulture as the first villain made sense because with most of the villains besides Green Goblin and Doc Oc, we hardly see any origin stories for them either. We are hoping to see Scorpion step up in the next Spidey film since it seems that way with the last credit scene during the movie. So glad Spidey is back!
Best Stan Lee Cameo: Being With the Watchers in Guardians Volume 2! It was hard to choose which of the Stan Lee cameos were the best since the one in Thor and Guardians were equally good but I would lean towards him being in Guardians Volume 2 because it was a surprise one and that is him telling things with the Watchers. I couldn’t hear what was being said due to everyone around me plus Gondras laughing their butts off with Yandu and Rocket speeding by in the distance but it makes sense for Mr. Lee because he does go into tangents even for his age. If you see the videos from MegaCon with his panel, you would know!

Makeup Brand of the Year: Wet N Wild! Next is Makeup Brand of the Year and I give it to Wet N Wild because they blew other brands out of the water with their seasonal collections especially the Unicorn Glow and Midnight Mermaid Collections this past summer and fall! Sorry Makeup Revolution, Too Faced, Tarte, and everyone else who jumped in the unicorn and mermaid themes this year but Wet N Wild blew you guys out of the Last Unicorn’s Forest and Ariel’s home with their stuff! The Midnight Mermaid collection was a major success with how much of the bundle sold out and some of the items sold out on the WNW website and of course the Unicorn Glow selling out on Ulta’s website. Out of these two I do think the Unicorn Set happened to be my favorite overall because I got to play with more highlights and I did do a video series where I created looks of a Goth Unicorn, a Colorful Unicorn, and a Smoky Unicorn and had fun with all of them! I may have to come back to one of the highlights and glitter pigments when I do my Rarity eye look for Omni Expo.

Liquid Lipstick: Wet N Wild Liquid Lipsticks! Next is all about Liquid Lipsticks and I give it to Wet N Wild too because of how they came into 2017 with new products and that included a collection of liquid lipsticks! You weren’t expecting how well these will do, heck I had a hard time looking for Rebel Rose which is the pinky rose shade in the collection. They even did metallic colors for Midnight Mermaid with a coral, a burgundy, a blue, and a green to show their gothic side. I did hear they did do some for their Fantasy maker’s line for Halloween but couldn’t find anything but these lippies are amazing to have in your collection!
Runner Up: NYX Lip Lingerie! I have to give the Runner up slot to NYX for their Lip Lingerie line because of how comfortable these things are especially during a convention. They stay put and they even go on very evenly when you have a lip primer on. I do enjoy these and they are not as expensive since they are at a drugstore price.

Makeup Sets: Ulta! Next is Best Makeup Sets and I give it to Ulta! Ulta has improved their makeup game over time since their last sets I picked up a few years back. The sets I got were Love Makeup, Beauty Treasures, and Be Gorgeous and these three are amazing except for one part of the Love Makeup pallet where I feel like they should’ve changed the color selection before releasing because some of the shades are not as cohesive but at the same time you can get a look with most of them. The one I do love the most is Be Gorgeous since it has a variety of colors to play with and you can come up with a ton of looks and it did get me into color correcting after all. Way to go Ulta and keep up with the good work!

Best Actress: Gal DuGat! I know I should’ve mentioned this in the movies arena but this list is in no particular order and this year’s Best Actress goes to Gal DuGat who played the title character of Wonder Woman. I think Warner Brothers picked a very good actress to play Diana because of how strong she made her to be. I wished they made her better in Batman vs. Superman or not use her at all and just stick her with her own movie but the actress pick was pretty spot on.

Best Actor: Dave Bautista! It was hard to choose but I give it to Dave Bautista who plays Drax in the Guardians movies because with this character he played a very awesome and awkward badass! Plus, he has to go through hours of makeup in order to play this role! Still, I give it to him especially how awesome he did in Guardians 2!
Runner Up: Jeff Goldblum! My runner up slot goes to Jeff Goldblum because it was hard to say who gets this slot, him or Dave? Reason why Jeff is in this category because of his role in Thor Ragnarok and he did amazing for his part. I know everyone is hating that he didn’t get the blue makeup treatment like the actual character but he hit the personality and you did get to see him have a cameo dancing in the credits of Guardians 2!

T. V. Season: Doctor Who Season 10! Best season of a t. v. series for me goes to Doctor Who because this ended Capaldi’s run in the best way possible even with the Christmas Special! I am still wishing they continued the part of the season where he goes blind but there is always the new doctor to play around with for next season and the seasons after. I and Gondras did like how they called back to the First Doctor especially with the last arc with the Cyber Men and bringing a past version of the Master on top of it. I can’t wait to see what they do with Doctor 13!
Runner Up: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Season 7! I bet you are wondering why? Well, this season did continue where it left off with the last one with Starlight Glimmer taking on the ideas of friendship all thanks to Twilight Sparkle and I was hoping they continue with her because knowing and my feeling is that she may be the next in line to have Aracorn powers like the princesses. Who knows if Season 8 may show that if it does happen. I did like and wasn’t expecting that they would talk about Star Swirled the Bearded and his companions who help form the first Elements of Harmony which I wish they talked about that more in all honesty because I felt that came out nowhere but it did show what had happened to him and his companions. Now hoping Season 8 would continue and I am thinking that the main six would take on teachings from the first Elements of Harmony for certain things like making AppleJack stronger or Rainbow Dash more faster or something. Who knows!

Fave Crowd Cosplay: My Link from Legend of Zelda but as Pokémon Ranger Link! Final category in Bests is my Crowd Fave Cosplay and that goes to my Link cosplay! This costume was two years in the making because I did start getting some of the things and needed to wait due to funds not being that high. I did finally finish getting the parts last year and getting the costume together in time for Omni Expo this year and man it was awesome especially with the Ageslash prop Gondras made! People were surprised by how well it looked in the Master Sword Coors and Zelda elements especially with my patches which shown the Tri-Force and the goggles too. Plus, I even worn elf ears for my first time since I never had and hadn’t used spirit gum in the longest time. Still, everyone who this cosplay loved it a lot!

Worsts:

Meh Movie: Power Rangers Re-boot! I know it is weird to see me mentioning this one but looking back at it but Power Rangers was an okay re-boot. Yes, they did have different people for Zordon and Alpha but I feel like I was missing the original Mighty Morphen even though it was cheesy 90’s t. v. but we grew up on that. Another thing is that Gondras pointed out is that the pink ranger’s costume had too much pink to it that it almost looked magenta and not pink. I guess they wanted to match the dark elements? Still, it was a meh movie.

Convention Press Experience: MegaCon Orlando 2017! I have to be honest that doing press for MegaCon was not as great as I thought. Yes, they had so many panels to cover but I am still wishing to do interviews with some of the actors. I am kicking myself for not saying that I was blind when we could only interview attendees, cosplayers, and comic book artists but it is due to being kicked out after the work of getting the passes in the first place and I felt that they didn’t also want to listen to it either nor give valid reasons even though the reason I got from Tampa’s Press Head was they only give interviews they felt deserved it. Okay, seriously? We have done this work for many years and interviewing someone as big as Stan Lee is someone’s dream, heck I wouldn’t mind to interview Danielle Panebaker when she was added after seeing her on Sky High and some other stuff on Disney. I know with cosplay, we did interview Riddle but.reason being is that I have to know their work in order to interview them and that is why it was easy for me to interview Riddle and if you want it to count, R. J. Heady since I did love the show Face Off. Also, with the huge crowd…it would be hard for me to ask attendees because there are times when people do get uncomfortable being asked things or give an answer that is not as great or just run off. And comic book guests…you know my situation! Sorry MegaCon, we won’t be coming back due to this experience and I feel like with all the work we have done, it feels like we can take our work to other places and new heights. I mean Omni and Holiday Matsuri still have us do work at their conventions.

Makeup Product: Anastasia Beverly Hills Sub Culture Pallet! I had to add this one on here because so many people were in an uproar with this one and that is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sub Culture pallet! I have seen so many bad reviews on this pallet because of how much shadow it poops when you dip your brush in. Yeah, it not only becomes dusty with product but it poops it. I am glad I didn’t get on the Anastasia shadow or highlight kick because the…in my honesty…brand doesn’t interest me. I can get really good brow products from the drugstore, shadow pallets I love from other brands in drugstore and high end, especially Urban Decay and Makeup Revolution, and of course better highlight pallets like the Strobe of Genius pallet from NYX but Anastasia doesn’t strike up any interest in me getting anything. Maybe the Moon Child pallet but I found similar shades in Wet N Wild’s and Nyx’s highlight pallets already. So when I saw all the reviews on their Sub Culture pallet, I was surprised! Yeah, people say you can work with it but it is way too pigmented and with shadows like that it is hard to work with, I don’t see that much fall out like this one with my L’Oréal Infolluble Shadows. Not only that, the owners were telling people you aren’t using it right until they found out the reason why it was the way it was is due to how the machine pressed each shadow. Sorry to say but need to improve on that. I did hear the Prism pallet was better.

Okay, looks like that is it for this year’s list! 2018 is going to be big and hoping so because Omni Expo announced Josh Seth to be a guest this year and I am still waiting on the press application for it and hoping next year to have a new panel for it too. New posts to add to the Word Press side on top of that, especially the technology side! New costume to be designed, and hoping! Hoping! I finally get something started my access tech career goal because 2017 was a sit and waiting game for me and 2018 is where I need to spark something!

So, with that, have a safe and Happy New Year everyone and see you in 2018!

Movies: SpiderMan: Homecoming!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Today, I have a movie review for you all! First…

Disclaimer: This review is based on opinion and observation from the lead writer of this blog! Please respect her thoughts and opinions and spoilers might be ahead!

Title: SpiderMan: Homecoming

Synopsis: We catch up with Peter Parker after the events of Captain America: Civil War where he has the suit that Tony Stark has given him. Even though he is under watch by Happy Hogan and has a few locks on his suit, he finds out there is something od going on in his neighborhood where alien weapons are being used to rob places by a man known as the Vulture. Peter has to get to the bottom of this case and prove that he is the hero that Tony Stark is looking for!

Thoughts: I have to sey that this was a better SpiderMan film! I am not saying it is the best since I did like the first two Sam Ramey films, especially the second one since that took the story to a newer level but this one was better than how bad the Amazing SpiderMan was. How so? First of all, I am glad Marvel took back Spidey, well some of the rights since Sony still has the rest of it but this vilm had what Marvel has done with the other films and made the story much better. It didn’t just do the origin story since we all know what had happened to Peter from the Ramey films. He did answer his friend’s question by explaining how he became Spidey since he catches Peter climbing the ceiling when he got back from patrolling the neighborhood.

What I did like was that they didn’t just go into the big bads of the SpiderMan universe which happened to be Green Goblin and Hob Goblin if you have been fans for the longest time and that and they also didn’t rush into Dr. Octopus either. They just started with Vulture and then did a origin sotry of some of the villains which we got to see Shocker as well working with Vulture to get Spidey off the trail for a moment which is a good idea. I would say Michael Keaton as the Vulture was a good choice! As we all know he played Batman in Tim Burton’s films and he can do a really good villain. I did like ghow the costume was described to me, which Gondras had to describe to me due to the transmitter for the audio description wasn’t working yesterday so we got free passes again, since I heard airplane sounds from Vulture and it was described to have not only robotic wings with one of the Chetari cores but also hydraulics in the arms and legs. I don’t know who was picked for costume design on this movie but they did an awesome job especially with the newer suit Stark was going to give him in the end.

Another thing I did like was how Tony Stark put the different protocols on Spidey’s suit from Civil War in order to figure out how to use it which he was able to break the code and start training for real. The names are hilarious which were Training Wheels and Baby Monitor which does make sense since Peter is supposed to be a young teen and he doesn’t know what he is getting into as a hero. Even though in the Ramey films we always knew the phrase “With great power comes great responsibility.” Ihe message I got is that, “The true power of a hero comes within and not just inside a suit!” Because Stark said towards the final fight, “If you can’t keep the suit then why have it in the first place?” Which does make an interesting point because throughout the film Peter was relying a lot on the suit from Civil War rather than just on his own instinct and he wanted to prove that he can fight crime than just be a kid out patrolling and shouldn’t be watched all the time. Yes, he did make a few mistakes but that does show in a lot of heroes and he did get back up, even from under a collapsed building! This movie shows that you have to earn your heroism rather than just having it handed to you for free since being a hero is not always easy. Look at the first Iron Man film, Tony had to earn his heroism at first before he became the one who saved the world by almost dying in a portal and another example is Ant Man in his first film where he was a thief at first and ended up becoming a hero after taking out Yellow Jacket by saving his family and was seen as a hero afterwards. So, Spidey is not the only one who had to earn his heroism.

Now, hoping Thor Ragnarok is better than Dark World and doesn’t have a argument match between brothers like the last one.

Rating: 5 Star Pawprings Out of 5! I know it seems a little high but to me it does deserve it. It shows what Peter does in a normal day and how he becomes SpiderMan as the movie progresses. He did play the hero detective pretty well by trusting his own instincts in what it is going on and it gives the villains a bit of backstory and shows how they become each villain rather than starting with Doctor Octopus and the Goblins off the bat like Ramey did and they didn’t give you too many at once like with Amazing 2 did and another thing that made this one different from Amazing is that the story flowed better! In order to have a cohesive story is not to put too much into one movie, work with one or two baddies or at least start off with how they get to their bad guy status! Then you have the warm up fights and of course the climactic fight towards the end and then end the story with completing it with characters by tying up their tensions and they either become friends again or hate each other. Unlike Amazing 2, which I heard, it was one big powerpoint presentation which I am glad that Marvel took the ropes in making the Spidey movie that we wanted. And yes, we did get Stan Lee in the movie, which Spidey is his fave hero from Marvel and I wonder since he is 94, how many more movies will he appear in since this past year is supposed to be his final year at MegaCon. (To tell you the truth, I am still happy we got to see that panel!) We have to find out since we are supposed to have another Thor movie, of course Black Panther is pushed back with Spidey’s return, and can’t wait to see what they do in that one!

So, that is it for this review! I am still in the middle of reading one of the other Net Galley books on my shelf. So stay tuned for that! In Spetember, I will be announcing my second book on YouTube and hoping to announce any other press and panel stuff for the end of the year! So, follow us over on YouTUbe if you can and follow us @ Nerdy Shique over on Twitter! Until next time!

Conventions: Stan Lee Q&A Panel from MegaCon Orlando 2017!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Well, going a bit out of order again with the MegaCon coverage since part two of Brina Palencia’s panel is not up yet so I decided to put up Stan Lee’s panel next!

Stan Lee Panel!

So, the first day of MegaCon ended with a bang and that is a huge one with Stan Lee! Apparently this is supposed to be his final year at a Florida con and the good thing is that we got to catch him at this convention even though would’ve been cool to interview him AHEM! But couldn’t! Hey, at least we got to go to his panel in the end.

What I found interesting was that he never been to Universal all the years he has been here for conventions and he does mention that in this panel. Gondras was in line with people to ask questions but due to him being late to his panel due to photo ops Gondras didn’t get a chance. At least he was there for the panel that night. I did mention what his advice was to new writers and I am keeping that to heart since I am a new author to add to my Freelance Writer and Lead Writer and Producer of this blog since I am about to have my second book released this fall.

I would say enjoy the panel video and hoping I get some of the other voice actor stuff up here but it looks like the Script Reading panel is next! Until next time!

Convention Impossible: MegaCon Orlando 2017

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe. MegaCon has passed and man this will be my most honest review, let’s get to it!

Disclaimer: This review is based on opinion and observations of the lead writer and producer of this blog. Please respect her thoughts and feelings, more like deep thoughts and feelings about this convention because it will be one huge honest review especially the results.

Location: This convention has been held at the Orange County Convention for many years but has been in multiple buildings. In most of the years I’ve been to this convention it was in the North Concourse and then one year or two in the South Concourse and now this year was in the North South Concourse. I know it sounds confusing but I am not done yet! Basically, the building is separated in North and South where you can cut through the vendor’s room to get to both sides until closing time when you have to go back out to get to either side. In order to get your ticket, you had to walk to the South side in the side to get your wristband, VIP pass, and the Press pass like mine, which was a pin on tag which you could also clip onto a lanyard. There was also the option for four day pass holders to receive their passes in the mail to ease the trouble of waiting. Hmmm, why not do that other cons? Anyways, so with panels, you had to go to either North or South Concourse areas to see the panels and how I saw it that the more comic book and sci-fi panels were on North side, not only that there were also the cartoon guests and video game panels on top of it, while the South side had the anime related panels and North had the gaming room for any gamers that need a break. Having the game room somewhere in the Concourse instead of the vendor’s room like with previous years, which that is next!

Vendor’s Hall: Or Exhibitor’s Hall for the volunteers working! It was …pardon my French…fucking huge! I never thought in my five years of returning I would see something this big! I thought the one during 2011 was big! Not only we had a lot of vendors, which we did find some sweet ones including Tee Turtle where I got my “Crazy Cat Lady” shirt (I know that is supposed to be for someone who is single but I do love cats and it had kitties!) Not only that, the Artist’s Alley was also huge since we were walking all over to find me some Dolic earrings since I didn’t have any while wearing my Doctor Who dress. Oh, need to mention the celebrity area! Not only it was huge but there was one huge, huge, HUGE area for Stan Lee! Gondras was only there for a day and he saw the humongous line of people and I was like “Oh f**k no!” If anyone has been on Splash Mountain, that line was way longer than that! I did meet Katie Griffin and Linda Ballumtyne in the flesh and did give them lanyards themed after their respective Sailor Scout. I did want to meet some of the other guests but we had to run to so many panels to get for the channel, which speaking of which…

Panels: This year was the only year at MegaCon I’ve been to the most panels. As said before, we had to go between the concourses to get to the many panels we have gone to. We went to Q&A panels for Brina Palencia, Mike McFarland (which I was glad to hear that he is also a Whovian and he has me wanting to watch Hitalia after knowing that he is Estonia and always hearing Todd Haberkorn as Italy.) Also, a panel with Amanda Miller, Brina, and Jamie Marchi, and went to Billy West’s panel Saturday night which was hilarious. I think the best panels I’ve been to all weekend were Stan Lee’s and the Tom Wilson panels! Stan Lee is of course the major comic book legend and without him we wouldn’t see the awesome Marvel movies. Too bad we couldn’t interview him because it would’ve been as entertaining as the panel but couldn’t do an interview, which I will get into detail after the Verdict. This panel was very good and we got to hear about Stan’s first visit to Universal and there was one tip that one person did ask out during the Q&A part was about his advice for anyone who wants to become a writer and that is: “Write what you like! All I hear about nowadays from writers is I write this book for this age group but what happens if you’re older than that and will you like it? Don’t write for anyone else just what you like.”

I will take that to heart since I have started writing fiction stuff and my second book will be out in September and just wrote it based on things I liked rather than others would like and that will be passed onto the next book which I am about to start to work on soon.

We did tape a lot of panels but there were two we didn’t get footage for which were the Flash panel with Tom Cavanah and Danielle Pannebaker who played Reverse Flash and Killer Frost because of copyright reasons and how they did talk about show stuff. I did find funny from the panel that Daniellle did mention to Tom how she was in Sky High and that his kids would love it and guess what they do and they always want to watch it. The other panel we didn’t get was the Q&A panel with Troy Baker and Nolan North due to coming in close to it ending. One thing I was happy with this panel was after getting off the phone with Gondras was that Troy mentioned how video games should be more accessible for blind people! I did cheer for it and I was really happy about it since there have been articles lately about blind people playing games, for instance this past week my buddy Stellarnan did put a link up about a Japanese boy who was blind since birth beat a rhythm game series and wrote to Nintendo to make more and they sent him a Braille letter thanking him for playing and that they will pass his request on. Another example is that there is a guy on YouTube that plays games and has his friends help with navigation, which the last game he did with his friends was MarioKart 8 for the Switch. I did write to Nintendo a long time ago about making a screen reader since I do play Pokemon (Haven’t opened Sun yet!) and it’s hard not being able to read the story and it would help. I will find a way of getting a new letter to Japan after this to get it developed. Anyways, I did thank Troy for it and he really wants to see more players out there even with a disability. This got me to ask Jennifer Hale and Ally Hillis during the Mass Effect panel about it and they said that we are at a time to have more inclusion and accessibility in games and they want to see more people game too. This gave me major hope and if it is possible to get the word out more then it can happen.

Don’t worry guys, Nerdy Shirts will get the videos up of the other panels we got so you can enjoy and I can put them into posts so you can see what I experienced. Which I will start with Tom Wilson’s panel since I caught that on my phone so stay tuned for that!

Verdict:

Convention: CONVENTION COMPLETE
Press: CONVENTION ABORTED!

I know it’s weird to do two different verdicts but this year after doing press this just once it is only once that we will do it.

Don’t get me wrong, I was appreciative for doing it but I felt screwed over as a small blog. Yes, the convention was great and the good thing was that we got to see panels but the truth was we had to be re-considered for this convention after being turned down. I was glad we did since we got to see Stan Lee’s panel and many others, heck the Totally Spies reunion as well. While Press itself is something we have done in the past but I feel like it needs to be worked on a lot more.

What do I mean by this? Well, I feel like the press form should at least mention requirements needed or wanted, especially for online media outlets. New blogs and YouTube channels are coming up and there are times when they want to do a huge convention like we just did and not only that MetroCon has been our first big convention we started with. Why go for the bigger ones? It’s because we are trying to build our resumes in order to do press for other conventions. We have done press for four years and have built it up and have done interviews, which I will mention that next, and have reviewed their events as time went on to show that we can actually do what we do. I even built our press kit in Powerpoint to show what we’ve done so far for press to show it. With a press kit or not, this would help big conventions and bigger conventions trust the smaller blogs along with major press outlets like local newspapers since the newspapers really focus on the event as a whole when YouTube channels or online magazines can do a lot more like we have done with Omni, Mythic, and even Holiday Matsuri which I feel MegaCon should have more trust in smaller outlets. Well, Orlando at least since we haven’t exactly done it with Tampa.

Next is interviews…::heavily sighs:: On the form, it asked about doing interviews and it mentioned how you can interview staff or the celebrity guests which we wanted to do it with guests of course. Then there was another question underneath saying, “What are the top two guests you want to interview?” At the time when they started doing guest announcements the two real guests that caught my eye or shall I say ear since I use JAWS were Stan Lee and Tim Curry and after being re-considered I did ask about that and was told not until April. We were turned down for interviews and I tried to ask about voice actors and was asked what we wanted and waited until they got announced and asked and then was turned down for that too and was told only cosplayers, attendees, and comic book artists.

Okay, I understand Stan Lee and Tim Curry are huge names and it would be hard to see about getting interviews but what about the guests? What is the real reason you won’t let us interview anyone else? That is what puzzeled me the most. I remembered during MythiCon 2014 where Chuck Huber was going to be there for two days and was given the reason of due to him being there for two days can’t find the time that would be easy to get an interview with him even though he wanted to do it when we told him what had happened. (Chuck, we owe you one so come back to Orlando if you can.) I felt like I was let down majorly about that since voice actors are our biggest thing and I bet you’re wondering “Don’t you cosplay?” Yes I do but here is the thing, when I do interview questions I base it on the work of those people which I research it first and then come up with what I want to ask and well since I can’t really see the work in front of me then there’s the problem. For instance, I was able to interview Riddle because I remembered her from Heroes of Cosplay and I did like what she brought to the show as a cosplayer and had fun talking to her. RJ Heady was easy due to how I knew his work from Face Off and makeup effects are my favorite and they were able to describe the work very well on that show since my vision was not as great when season two rolled around with him on there. So, comic book artists wouldn’t be the best place for me since I can’t keep up with comics due to being not able to read them and see them. I can interview authors that I have read since I can listen to the audiobooks and voice actors because I am able to hear the dub easily. That is why I took it to Twitter to see if some of the guests would like to be interviewed through email and was able to get Katie Griffin and Linda Ballumtyne and promote the convention as well, which I did forget to mention that when I got re-considered that the big thing of doing press is to promote MegaCon and that is what we do with our Convention Spotlight and Last Minute Convention Info since this year was going to be a huge travel year with other things going on such as Volcano Bay and Pandora opening at Universal and Disney. That is why I am treating conventions as travel now among promoting them.

I think that is it, so yeah, after looking at it, I think this will be the only year for us at MegaCon Orlando. We have other conventions to think of and of course the ones we have done press for in the past since we have had great experiences.

I believe that is it for this Convention Impossible! I didn’t try to bash on MegaCon, we did have fun but wishing that press would have been better in my book. I did get to ask questions if I were in an interview which you will get to see in our videos of some of the panels. I am glad that Troy Baker wants to see more accessibility with video games and I was glad to meet Katie Griffin and Linda Ballumtyne which you can still read those interviews! Too bad the Doctor Who companions cancelled since there is a new season of Legends of Tomorrow for Arthur Darvil to do but not sure why Jenna Coleman. Oh well!

What is next for us? My Top Ten Songs for May! Stay tuned!

T. V.: Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D. Season 4 Review

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! I should’ve done this yesterday but finally thought that it was a great season that it should get a review and that is Agents of SHIELD Season 4! Let’s get to it!

Season Synopsis: Last time on Agents, we saw Daisy, also known as Quake, go off on her own to take out any criminals so she could get away from SHIELD once she lost Lincoln. The season brings in a new threat that deals with an ancient text known as the Dark Hold which opens one’s mind to endless possibilities such as turning an android into human to having a new life beyond the real world. All thanks to this text, new trouble arises for our agents and Colson as he tries to get Daisy back and meets Ghost Rider while he is at it. Besides making new friends, he finds out a new group that is trying to get rid of inhumans known as the Watch Dogs and knows that he has to protect his superhero strength friends along with his agents.

Disclaimer: This review is based on observation and opinion of the lead writer! Please respect her thoughts and opinions in this review! Also, spoilers may be ahead!

Thoughts: Oh man! This season was a lot better than the last, so much better that I forgot that Season 3 even existed! Yes, there were a few misses in this season but everything else was like “Holy sh*t!” The twists and turns took this season to new heights and how they introduced Ghost Rider made it even better. No, this is not the Nicholas Cage one but a newer one that drives a car than the motorcycle. I think I liked this one since I have seen reviews on the Cage Ghost Rider and too cartoony when Agents captured the character very well even when he returned to the Hell Mouth and then came back in the end of the season. Perfect esart and end to a season and hoping they keep this Ghost Ridr and get the rights back to the movie like with Spidey since Marvel can do right by getting characters back to their side. I wouldn’t mind seeing a movie with this Rider or re-tell the story teading up to this one to fill in the blanks that led to Season 4.

Okay, better stop fangirling for a bit because the rest of the season did play more with the Fitz and Simmons relationship again which I felt that this season was a major test for them both because Fitz had been buddy-buddy with Radcliffe from last season. I know I did say I forgot the last season but I did like Radcliffe even if he shown up out of left field for me when Hive was the villain. This season shown a bigger interaction with Radcliffe since it brought something from Age of Ultron into this season and that is building an almost real android and that is the new character Aida! Apparently now in the Marvel universe, if you create one of these ever since Ultron existed people have to report that they created one. Fitz meets Aida while visiting Radcliffe at home and he does warn Radcliffe that he has to report to the authorities about her and Radcliffe of course refuses and keeps it as a secret. You know this goes wrong, right? It does! She does get hold of the Dark Hold and all hell breaks loose all thanks to it, especially when the Matrix is involved or the Frake Work is involved. Oh yeah, we go into the Matrix with this season where we found out that Radcliffe made a world where life can be perfect but it gets twisted all thanks to Aida. It was meant to be made to load up your consciousness after you die but our Agents do get kidnapped and Daisy and Simmons have to rescue them from this messed up version where Hydra wins. Gondras wasn’t liking this part since Fitz and Simmons’ relationship was being tested towards the end of the season which Aida was really wanting Fitz! I did notice that too but I know Fitz really wanted to stay with Simmons even despite the hurt he was bringing on and how he wanted to connect with Aida and teach her how to be human but that was all wrong. I think this season was a huge development for Fitz’s character since it shown how he explained how hard his dad was on him during his life and you saw it the most during the Frame Work portion of the season, even though we saw the eviler side of Fitz in that part. We also get to see other sides of some of the characters in the Freme Work side such as May being colder than ever, Mack with his daughter with his more fatherly side, and of course Radcliffe being guilty for creating the Frame Work and Aida! Oh yeah, this season had a lot of character development and that is what I liked, especially with the first two seasons! Hoping the next season will be even better.

There was one thing that did confuse me, I am not sure if it’s because I missed a few episodes in Daytona, once ten rolled around I was exhausted from my long day of work, but the cocoon thing. Apparently, there was something where a inhuman was created through being inside a cocoon and didn’t see that much in the past few seasons. I am guessing it was something that led to Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 where the post-credits scene dealt with a cocoon as well which is foretelling of one character for the next movie. I wished that was told a lot better than it was the Senator’s brother being inside of it and didn’t want him alive, apparently she didn’t like inhumans and didn’t explain that much to me about her character and her brother, it felt like she was in for a few episodes and was killed by an exploding inhuman and that was it. I think Marvel should’ve explained things better when they can tell good stories. Io me it felt like that was glossed over and then cuts to Talbot working with SHIELD despite his feelings working with them and then to the Frame Work and so on. Hoping Guardians 3 explains the cocoons a bit better or at least the new Inhumans tv series, oh yes they are doing it, will explain that better!

Rating: 4.5 Star Pawprints out of 5! Even though this season was better than the last but the cocoon thing was confusing and felt like a one shot thing and forgotten about it. Ghost Rider being in this season was a really good change and it brought something new to the story and hoping that Marvel gets bte rights back to the movies since they can do a better movie than the ones that are made for the Rider himself. I did like the Frame Work stuff since this season cdi show what humans can be reckless with technology especially with artificial intelligence. I feel as though this can be a warning sign if we did create Aida and it goes haywire. I rather not being so afraid since I have to rely on tech for my everyday use. Now let’s see what Marvel has in store for the next season and Inhumans.

That is it for this review! I am glad to to do this since it was a season hat I enjoyed and it’s in time for MegaCon in a week. Let’s see what happens with Mega! In the meantime, I may do a post that deals with a subject that a lot of people may notice that still exists is the Wheeaboo and I may still do the anime that should be dubbed post either after the coverage on MegaCon or before it. Stay tuned!

Conventions: Last Minute MegaCon Info!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe. It is time for the last minute MegaCon info.

I know you are wondering why am I doing this now? Well, since MegaCon is our largest convention in town and people tend to get ready through the time between announcements like we are when it comes to press. I do have some updates that I have received in email.

Pulse Tribute Events on May 26th and 27th: First is that there will be Pulse tribute events during the convention. Everyone knows what had happened to us a year ago in June which was the Pulse Night Club shooting and we lost 49 people in that shooting which was even more sad. We will have a Orlando United Day starting this June but MegaCon will be having tribute events this year to celebrate the ones who survived and died during the horrific night.

PikaBelleChu Event: Our friend PikaBelleChu has invited us and if you follow her on Facebook, you may have gotten her invite to her MegaCon photoshoot. I am thinking of going as Pokemon Ranger Link since that cosplay got some love during Omni. It will be Saturday afternoon.

New Guests: Of course there have been more guests added as time went on and two of them you probably have seen my interviews with which include Katie Griffin and Linda Ballumtyne from Sailor Moon and other guests include Danielle Pannenbaker, Alice Cooper, Mike McFalrand, Troy Baker, Jamie Marchi, and so many more. Check the page for more updates and others probably added until the weekend.

Hotels: Knowing that these will be filled by the weekend, I would say if you are into getting a hotel room or bunking with people, do it now! Knowing this will cause a lot of booking along with the tourist season already starting for us. So, check any of the hotel websites or any travel sites for any deals.

Locations to Go to After Con Conquering: Like most people we do like to go around after our time at the convention and what else is there to do in Orlando? There is the theme parks, Disney Springs which you can catch the new Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 if you haven’t and if you don’t want to travel that far there is also theaters at Pointe Orlando and at CityWalk in the same area as the convention center along International Drive. If you have someone who wants to shop their hearts out, you also have shops in Pointe Orlando, CityWalk, even Florida Mall, Disney Springs, and we do have our Belz Outlet, and many more. And of course our many restuarants at the Orlando Eye, Red Robin, and one stop if you can get to which me and Gondras recommend and that is Pao Gustoso in case you want Brazilian cuisine for an affordable price.

That is about it! In case you want more information on where to stay and where you want to go during the convention, you can look under the Travel link on http://www.negaconorlando.com and also any of the theme park websites on top of that. What is next? Besides our coverage from this convention, we will also have the Top Ten Songs of May! 2017 where are you going? Movies: Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! So, we saw Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 and man it was hilarious and awesome! Let’s see what I think!

Disclaimer: This review is based on opinion and observation of thn! Please respect the thoughts of this review and warning! Spolers might be imminent!

Synopsis: We meet up with Peter Quill and the gang finding themselves in a new adventure across the galaxy! This movie is set to the music of Awesome Mix Volume 2 where we get to see the secret behind Peter Quill’s family and who his dad is when we meet Ego, a Celestial and made his own planet. What we don’t know is that daddy is really not alright and will Peter surrender himself to his Celestial self or stay with his family of rag tag heroes and a plant?

Thoughts: I know it was cheesy of me to kind of quote “Surrender” by Cheap Trick with that but it does say it all.

Anyeays! This movie was HILARIOUS! We couldn’t stop laughing because of all the stuff that went on! I know there was a lot of serious things going on but the comedy made it better! Heck, my audio description made it better especially when Groot brought back a dude’s toe to Rocket and Yandu which I couldn’t stop laughing and coughing! What was even more priceless is hearing Drax reciting a Gurren Lagan speech! Gondras pointed it out and I was thinking, “I wonder if Steve Blum and Kyle Hebert were seeing the movie and realized what he said?” Or at least Yuri Lowenthal going as Simone, “HEY!” Or just laugh hysterically with everyone like we did.

Gondras did go MST3K and I even cued up when audio description said, “Groot used vines…” I tapped on Gondras’ shoulder and I said, “Groot used Vine whip!” He started laughing because I have a shirt from Aardvark Tees with that on it and should’ve said, “It was super effective!” I know we are all nerds!

We did have Stan Lee make his cameo but don’t want to spoil that for you guys! What was random was seeing Howard the Duck again and even more random in the credits Jeff Goldblum dancing in one of the pics. I guess they wanted to bring him in his Thor: Ragnarok costume as a way of promoting that Ragnarok is coming out this year and the thing was if SpiderMan: Home Coming wasn’t coming out in July then it would’ve been this movie and then Ragnarok but nope! We’re getting Spidey back in July! Hoping the Marvel version will beat the horrible Amazing SpiderMan movies since the guy playing Peter in it is better from what we saw in Civil War.

Now, will I get the soundtrack like with the first? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I am not sure! I liked the first soundtrack and all but the only song I do still ove that was in this movie was of course “Surrender” by Cheap Trick. Let’s see what happens. I know we will be getting this movie on DVD or Blue Ray.

Rating: 5 Star Pawprints Out of 5! I gave this movie the highest rating because it was funny and enjoyable. Movie Bob thought that Marvel movie sequels don’t build up to the first except for Winter Soldier but to me this one was as good as its first! It kept the comedy except for one part where a priestess’ red carpet ended being stuck for a bit. Didn’t laugh as much at that but the rest it was something that was part of the story. Yeah, we did hear a lot of pop culture references but that is like the first where Gamora did refer back to her remembering Peter’s story and comparisons he used like in the first one with Kevin Bacon. It was enjoyable and it kept us and the entire theater laughing and did have a sad ending on top of that! Now I can’t wait for the third which the end credits scene did give us a look into.

That is about it for this review! What is next? Well, we will be doing the last minute convention information for MegaCon Orlando 2017!
