Favorites: November & December 2018!

Hello and welcome back to my beautiful nerds traveling the vast universe! It is time for…

November and December 2018 Favorites!

Damn! 2018 is ending tomorrow and I do have a lot to say in this post and starting with Convention Favorite Moments!

Favorite Item Found: Jolteon Standing On All Four Legs! First item is that I found and it’s a plushie of Jolteon standing on all four legs. Normally the Evee plushies are found sitting but this one of him standing like my figure I have on my desk at work. I will be using this plush when I do my thunder gym leader again. Too bad the Umbreon in the same style was in a prize machine since I need Umbreon and Espeon to finish off the Evee collection. I will look around at Omni when March rolls around.
Favorite Interviews: Jennifer Hale, Sean C. W. Johnson, and Audrey Dubois! Next are the favorite interviews from Ranger Stop and Holiday Matsuri. First of all is that getting to interview more Power Rangers cast mates was great and hoping to get to do it again next year. Why I pick these two exactly is that with Sean is due to how after watching Light Speed Rescue it shows that we can still keep it in our time limit. Plus, I did get to ask about the small Easter egg with Mariner Bay from the 2017 film. While Audrey, on the other hand, she is a motivational speaker and it was great to know what she has done even though she was Trini for one episode. If you haven’t seen these interviews, I would say go back and see. While Jennifer Hale, on the other hand, we have not posted it yet but hoping soon since as I said in the review that getting to interview her finally made me happy. We wanted to sit her down for an interview since MegaCon Orlando 2017 and was still sad that they wouldn’t let us have one with her and hearing that she was a guest for Holiday Matsuri it was that chance we could get and did have. Once it gets posted I will let everyone know and even that new subscriber since she was happy with the Totally Spies panel from that MegaCon as well.
Favorite Moment: Christopher Kayman Lee and Me Wearing the Same Shirt! I had to include this because this was a funny moment that had happened during Ranger Stop and never had it happen until now and that is wearing the same shirt as a guest and that happened to me and Christopher Kayman Lee from In Space. This year I wore my Lost Galaxy Red shirt despite they didn’t invite anyone from that season this year but it was my other shirt from one of my favorite seasons and wore a makeup look using the Naked Heat pallet from Urban Decay to match my shirt. When I was going to talk about a possible interview, a photographer was there and was talking about a pic that was on his table with the guy who played Zane in In Space and then pointed our shirts out. I am still waiting for that photo by the way since I gave him my card. I will try and get the Skype interview since I have been busy with unpacking from the move and work of course, just stay tuned!

Beauty Favorites!

New Moisturizer: Burt’s Bees Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin! Lately I’ve been wanting to try new moisturizers since my skin has not been working much with Celestial so looked into the Burt’s Bees one for Sensitive Skin and so far so good it’s working out. It goes on pretty smooth and putting my primer on top is getting easier. Speaking of which!
New Primer: Makeup Revolution Baking Oil! I have been using the Makeup Revolution Baking Oil. I did mention in the Collective Haul I put up this morning that this was a recommendation from YouTube and I can see why it was a good one. I have dry skin and with how bad the cold has been this helps! It is a nice change by the way.
New Eye Shadow Pallet: Too Faced Gingerbread Spice and Zodiac Pallet! I got my Gingerbread Spice pallet through EBay. I know it’s kind of dangerous but I did get a pretty good one from Hong Kong. Jen Luv’s Reviews did say it smelled more like vanilla and I could smell it. I have done so many looks with this pallet and even had it with me during Holiday Matsuri for Friday’s and Sunday’s looks. Too bad you won’t get to see the Sunday one with what had happened with that interview. While the Zodiac Pallet, on the other hand, I know I need to play with it but I did make two good looks with that so far and I love what Kathleen did with it. I will do one with The Scorpio at some point in time.
New Lip Color: Mumbai Magenta from Trestique and Scorpio Moon from Colour Pop! I have to mention these two lip items since I have been wearing them a lot and that is the Trestique Lip Glaze in Mumbai Magenta and the Colour Pop Lux Lipstick in Scorpio Moon. I wore Mumbai Magenta during work and I think Ipsy for it. It’s not a liquid lipstick, it is more a stick type one since Trestique is known for doing stick products. I think it worked out with this one since liquid lipsticks can be messy. I like how pigmented it is but it can be a little drying. While Scorpio Moon, this was a unique color since it brings more of a rosy mauve to the color selection. Kathleen Lights needs to come out with more colors like these if she collaborates with Colour Pop because it was a fantastic lipstick.

Ipsy Review:

November: Now my thoughts on the last two bags of the year! November took a while to get to me because of my move and well it went to my old address due to being changed in the middle of the month.

SL Miss Glam Brush Trio: Better mention the first extra I got. I got a brush trio from SL Miss Glam that was offered and decided why not try them since I haven’t tried their brushes yet. I did enjoy these brushes since they were soft and they blended my shadow very well. I hope to get more brushes by these guys in future bags or purchases since Ipsy Offers do happen with many brands.
Marc Anthony Bye Bye Frizz Heat Protectant Cream: This was an awesome item! I will be putting off using my flat iron until I get my straightening brush but to the product itself. This kept my hair soft in the straight. It also smells good! I am buying the full-size of this item when I run out because it is better than a spray in heat protectant and it dries fast too since last time I used my flat iron I let my hair dry before putting the flat iron through and it did work out.
Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in Shameless: Sorry Jeffree Starr but I am liking Huda Beauty. I will try out Beauty Bakerie in the future but now I am liking this product by Huda. I did like the liquid lipstick I got a few months ago and this was another great product. I did hear how the shadows were hit and miss but the lip items so far are spot on.
The Balm Cosmetics Dewmunizer in Marydewmunizer: This was a really good product for its size. It was tiny and I thought it was the Huda Beauty lipstick but looked at it closely. I want to get the powder version of this to see how well it works on my skin since it’s a champagne gold colored highlight and those work well with my skin tone.
Jelly Pong Pong Cosmic Light in Pulsar: Another single shadow pigment and it’s from a brand that I haven’t gotten another product in a long time. This was a blue shadow with a metallic finish and I like it. It was easy to blend with the eye base I’ve been using. I have to use it more as time goes on. I wonder how well it will go with my blue cat ears.
Ciate London Mini Setting Powder in Hideout: I just finished this item recently and what I liked about it is that it set my under eyes very well but the the thing I least liked about it was it always ended up on my shirt! I know I should have used the sifter but to me that is too tedious and it’s easier for me to put my brush into the product instead of wondering where it went. I am not a loose powder fan I prefer pressed powders because it doesn’t get all over the place and doesn’t get into my eyes which this didn’t get into my eyes as much. I hope to try more Cite which I did with December too.

December: December had one more product and it was my first time seeing six products in Ipsy. I remembered there were times where it mentioned it is rare and this one the first time it happened.
Extras: Pacifica Liquid Highlight, Sugar Cosmetics Mini Bronzer, and Nomad Cosmetics Moonlight Highlight: These three extras really good but out of three I liked the Nomad Cosmetics Highlight. I know it was very small but it was easy to blend and glad to pick it up as an extra like the other two. The Pacifica one was pretty nice and easy to blend and very sparkly and the Sugar Cosmetics bronzer was also much pigmented when applied. These were pretty good extras that I have chosen and hoping to get more from these three in future bags.
Finding Ferdinand Blush in Skinny Dip: This was a pretty good blush. I liked it and glad it fits into a magnetic pallet. When I first got this in the packaging, I found it weird because I thought it was the hair mask I received and noticed it was flat. I did like how it applied and blended very well.
The Balm Nude Beach Shadow in Bootylicious: This shadow was another one added to my Balm Shadows and it’s from their Nude Beach Collection. This was a very easy to blend shadow and I liked how the pan in this one was bigger than the other two I have. I hope to get more shadows from The Balm and not only that I am planning to get the Nude Beach pallet since I am liking it and want to see how the pallet is like.
F. A. R. A. Brushes Tapered Blending Brush: This was an amazing brush! I enjoyed how much it blended my lid color and also my defining shade too. The bristles were soft and the handle felt like a pencil grip in my hands. I hope to get more brushes from this brand.
Coco & Eve Hair Nourishing Mask: It felt good to get another hair mask in the bag and man this one feels great! I notice that my hair feels softer after I use it and not sure the price but I will be using hair masks yet again. More hair masks in the bag please!
Ciate London Glitter Flip Lipstick: Another Ciate London product and that is their Glitter Flip lipsticks. I am so glad to finally try this lipstick since Beauty News talked about it and was interested. I was happy to get one and glad I put “Loved It” for Ciate. I am hoping to get more items by these guys and may buy more of these Glitter Flip lipsticks!
Dr. Lip Tint in Sweet Potato: This item is very nourishing and moisturizing but wishing it was in a pot instead of a tube. I had a hard time squeezing the product out and it was very thick so that is why I had such a hard time. I am sorry Dr. Lip but you should have used tins not tubes for this thing.

Books: The Stolen Marriage by. Diane Chamberlain! I have to give this to The Stolen Marriage by. Diane Chamberlain because I enjoyed every minute of it. You guys know I do love World War II history and this book told it from the American side and how the Polio epidemic happened in Hickory. I loved Tess throughout the story and how her character had to change but she didn’t want to change it throughout the story due to how wanted to be a nurse so badly and the Polio epidemic happening shown her true strength in the book.

Candy: Sour Patch Kids Candy Canes! Well, since it was Christmas I went on a major candy cane binge and I got so many of them which will take a while to finish despite the holiday being over. I have gotten two boxes of the Trolli ones from Amazon which I should have cancelled but at the same time did enjoy how light in flavor they are. I may have to keep on getting to the sour parts on the inside. I do enjoy the Sour Patch Kids ones since those were pretty sweet with a sour edge. I guess my Christmas spirit got the best of me to get into candy canes yet again.

Well guys that is it for this Favorites. 2018 has brought me new things to enjoy and so many things to talk about for the Bests & Worsts of this year for the next one. So stay tuned for that one!

Favorites: September & October 2018

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds traveling the vast universe! I am back with a new post and it’s my favorites!

September & October 2018 Favorites!

So, now it’s time for September and October! This year is going fast as I know it and I will be moving next month. I do have some favorites but first I want to start with my Ipsy for these past two months and what I thought about the items.

September: My bag for September had me try more items from other brands that I have tried recently and in the past which was very fun!

IBY Beauty Eye Shadow in Fire & Ice: This shadow was fun to use and was much pigmented. I found it easy to apply and blend onto my eyes. I hope to get more eye shadows in the future since they did give two new ones from this brand in this month’s bag but didn’t get either of them. I am glad to try a second item from these guys and I may purchase from them in the future since they do have pretty good products.
Trestique Mini Lip Glaze in Mumbai Magenta: I was glad to try something again from these guys since I have gotten samples from them before in Ipsy. This was a very nice and lightweight lip glaze for its size and it did stay on pretty well. I definitely recommend this as a product due to how easy and creamy it is and you can make it lighter with each pat with a tissue. I may purchase this shade a few others in the future. Definitely a nice little thing for my job.
Lord & Berry Line & Shade Pencil in Flash Purple: I am also glad to get these guys again since I haven’t gotten anything else from them in a long time. Even though I am still using my Sugar Cosmetics Purple Rain pencil it doesn’t mean I don’t mind another purple liner to have as backups. I also remembered when I first tried this brand was my very first Ipsy bag and it was the Kohl liner in black and that was creamy and lasted me for many months before it couldn’t sharpen anymore and knowing this will last me longer.
Eva NYC Satin Dream Leave In Cream: Another product from Eva NYC I got to try is a Satin Dream Leave In Cream which this did help my hair slightly but wishing it was a bigger sample size and it didn’t last me too long before it gave me nothing but air! I did love the smell and it did help with my hair like with another leave in product I have tried from them except that was through Boxy Charm. I may buy this when I’m done with a coconut oil conditioner because that one has been weighing my hair down but this doesn’t and also I can get it at Ulta by the way since they do sell this brand and you do get good sales on it.
Luxie Wonder Woman Detailed Blender 140: Finally, every Ipsy subscriber got this brush or the Harley Quin brush and I got this Wonder Woman brush. I did use this to put on concealer for my spots after color correcting but to me this would be better to use it for setting my under eyes since it did feel hard to get at my NYX Light Concealer from its jar. I do like how soft it is and very durable so it will be used for setting powder when I would pick this brush up again.

October: This month’s bag was a nice switch up in items because I felt that my profile was matched pretty well with some of the products.

Beautiniq Beauty Blush Serum in Sunrise: First is a blush serum which I never thought of trying. Cream blushes can be tricky to use which you can either go nuts or not go nuts after putting it on. I was worried after someone getting this item in their bag they said it looked a bit clown pink and decided to put a little on my tea tray and put it on my finger and apply by blending it slightly with my fingers and then with my brush to get it from being over the top. I did ask if it looked okay on what’s up in Make Up and they said I did really well in blending and it was a relief that I did what I did with that. I suggest just putting a little down on a tray or something and then do what I did by using the fingers to blend a little and then use the brush to blend it out more.
Make up Forever HD Liquid Foundation in Y225: This was a nice change for me since I never tried Make up Forever before. I mainly used it as an eye primer due to its size but it felt like it didn’t help my shadows stay put much due to how creamy it was. It did sting my eyes which I will never do again. I do love foundations and this was a great match since it didn’t oxidize on my hand it just looked less noticeable. If I get another foundation sample I may use it for what’s it’s intended for.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: Another brand I’ve never tried before and that’s First Aid Beauty. This cream was very moisturizing but it did tingle a lot after using my Clearasil facial pads since of course I was dealing with salicylic acid and this had shea butter as an ingredient. Not sure if I will get a full size but it did help some for my back while my face it did raise some hidden marks and did shrink one slight zit to a white head. I am still taking care of that. Also this sample did run out a week after using this which was kind of sad.
Sugar Cosmetics It’s Apout Time Lipstick in Better Call Salmon: I’m sad about this product because it broke the day after I got it! I did love this item for the shortest time I had it because it’s so pigmented, easy to build up, and the shade is just awesome! If Ipsy had this as a point item in their prizes shop I would so get this again! I hope to try more Sugar Cosmetics items because so far so good they are proving to be awesome with their stuff and I still love that eyeliner pencil from July!
Inc.redible You Glow Girl Jelly Highlighter in Cosmic Blur: The final item is something I have to keep my paws from grabbing it every single time I do my makeup and it’s this highlighter. This is the most pigmented and creamy highlighter I’ve ever tried since I started wearing highlighters myself. This is an easy to build up one and easy to blend into whatever blush you wear. This is very iridescent with purple and blue and it doesn’t feel like it’s changing to grey either. I’m stumped to why this is not in the Ipsy Shopper because I wanted to buy one of these and see what other shades were available in this line because I wouldn’t mind using a bronze gold or a pure gold, etc. I have to see if this brand has a website and hope to get more of it in Ipsy!

Verdict: October’s bag was better in my opinion because it was a nice change from the usual profile picks I’ve been getting. I got to try out First Aid Beauty and Make up Forever and a new item from Sugar Cosmetics on top of that. I also got to finally try out Beautiniq because of hearing how other people got their stuff in the past and the Inc.redible Highlighter is something I can’t get myself to not wear on a daily basis! Way to go October!

Returning Favorite: NYX Hydro Touch Face Primer! Okay, now into my favorites and starting with a returning one! I have gotten the NYX Hydro Touch Primer again because the Wet N Wild Dewey one runs out too quickly and the bad thing is that it has way too much air in the tube and not enough product that I can justify purchasing over and over again. I may have to get two of the Wet N Wild one if need be but getting the NYX one again is due to how much longer it lasts me than the Wet N Wild one and I love how it goes on smoothly and I would suggest buying it from the NYX official website or Ulta because they sell it cheaper at those places than Target. My dad noticed that it costs $17 to $18 at Target when it’s six to seven dollars cheaper at Ulta and I saw it go for $13 if I remembered on NYX which is kind of outrageous. I know NYX is kind of getting up there in price but it should not cost close to $20 at one store like Target when they are known for low prices on a lot of stuff. So, I will be getting it at either Ulta or NYX’s website or their store in town since we have two locations now!

New Favorite Eye Shadow Pallet: The Emily Edit Wants from Makeup Revolution: Yes, I got this one and that’s the Wants Pallet from Makeup Revolution! I’ve been a fan of Emily Noel for many years since I have seen her ads about her channel on YouTube. I love how honest she is with her trying on new things and reviewing items she picked up at Ulta, Target, WalMart and other places even online. When I heard that she was making pallets with Makeup Revolution I was really happy and that got me to getting The Wants. I did like the idea of the Needs but to me the Wants was more what got me to picking it up because it was all eye shadow and I could work better with that. And I was also happy to see they put a color guide on Ulta’s website that I did put into my pallet guide. This pallet is very versatile with shades ranging from your light mattes to deep mattes and some shimmers. This pallet is supposed to be buildable where when you place it on top of a primer it will be lighter than it is in the pan and you have to pack it on and blend it in order to get to the opacity you want it to be. Yes, I’ve seen two particular videos on this pallet that were controversial and from my observation I think it’s due to the eye primer someone was using and that the formulation was not working with it. Before I started using Soft Ocher, which is next on my list, I was still using my NYX White Base and had no issues applying the shadows after setting it. I did hear you don’t need to set your eye primer but I did it anyways due to how creamy the NYX Eye Base is and was able to create two looks which one had more of a maroon tone as my test and the other was a video look with the greens and the mocha brown called Capricorn and a bronze shade and those worked out great too and got so many comments on how well it matched with my eyes in the photos. I am using the shade today that was mentioned the most in the drama and that’s Apartment which is a very dark brown and it’s the second to last shade in the pallet. It didn’t feel patchy at all while putting it on because I did go in three times to get it to its pigment and all the reviews did say that you have to probably do that with some shades and that’s what I did with Apartment. Plus, I am using the last bit of a deluxe size of the Urban Decay Primer Potion I got when I picked up the Naked Basics pallet recently. I am agreeing with the other that Apartment is pretty pigmented in my book and you need to take the time to pack it on and blend and would say use a brush with this pallet because it does work out better with a brush than fingers. I know there is no right or wrong way with putting on shadows but usually it gives a different pay off between the two and depending on the pallet you use. To me brushes work better with application. I still love this pallet and I give props to Emily in creating it with a great brand, yes they have their hits and misses which a lot of brands do have those but this is a hit and I definitely recommend it.

New Favorite Eye Base: Soft Ocher from MAC! I finally got it and its Soft Ocher from the Paint Pot line at MAC. I was meaning to get this little thing for a while and finally got it and using it. This one lies a buildable paint pot because I tried it with a brush and it wasn’t working so I am using my fingers for it because this does need more than one coating while applying it to the eyes. One thing I do like about this product is that it does stay put once applied and doesn’t bother my eyes after application. I will be trying this out with the Emily Edit to see how well the shadows work on that since I did mention primer formulation earlier. Do I like it more than Painterly? I think I like this as much as Painterly because not only it does stay put but it is very good at keeping shadows on all day. I will switch between the two as time goes on.

Favorite Item That I Had to Say Goodbye: Ulta Just In Case Set! Recently I had to get rid of the makeup in the Ulta Just In Case set because it was too old and the shadows were bothering my eyes. I’m glad to get rid sof the stuff because I can’t keep using something if it’s going to be like that and I’m glad for it being in a train case because I’m using it to keep the brushes I’m using in it, the tea tray and fan, and even my headbands in the bottom compartment. I even keep my eye primer and setting spray in this thing. I do love the sets that Ulta puts out with the train case because you can multi-purpose it after finishing the items inside.

Not So Fave: Wet N Wild Photo Focus Powder in Neutral Beige! I know I love the Photo Focus powder from Wet N Wild but this shade is too light for me and glad my fiancé caught it too today. Okay, someone told me that this would match me perfectly and it was a customer by the way and I was looking for Warm Beige which is my shade despite it being slightly darker. I had Neutral Beige in my hand and random stranger shows up and says it was perfect match. Unfortunately it’s not because my skin is light to medium. So, I had to get a new one in Warm Beige which basically, according to Gondras, I’m in between both this one and Warm Beige, what should I do? Mix them? Maybe I should ask. At least now not to listen to other customers for foundation and powder advice.

New Favorite Accessory: Galaxy Kitty Backpack from Hot Topic! Next is a favorite accessory and that’s my new Galaxy Kitty backpack I picked up on my birthday from Hot Topic! This thing is so adorable and it’s very spacious too! Also I can not only use it for carrying all my tech stuff but also any food items and water bottles, even has a water bottle net on the side so I can carry the one I’m drinking in it. Plus, there is a sleeve where I can slide my IPad, my Galaxy tablet into and even a laptop but who knows! I do have two other backpacks but had to pack them for the move and they are a Panic! At the Disco one and a Kiki’s Delivery Service one of the cat. Of course, I went cat crazy again! I will be using this backpack during Ranger Stop and other conventions.

TV Show I’ve Been Watching: Riverdale! So, all thanks to getting the Amazon Fire Stick for my to watching, I have NetFlix to watch on there and I’ve been watching a lot of Riverdale lately. This is pretty much what if the Archie comics went darker in a live-action show. As in, instead of the happy-go-lucky 1950’s themes it pretty much is set in our modern days and we do have the usual cast of characters like Archie, Jughead, Veronica, and Betty and we do have Josie & the Pussycats, and I heard Sabrina the Teenage Witch makes an appearance but haven’t gotten there yet. The series starts when a murder of Jason Blossom takes place during the summer and everyone in Riverdale is shocked since the Blossoms are the most important family due to being in the maple syrup business for many generations. The mystery behind his death takes many twists and turns with having Betty’s sister, Polly, to Jughead’s dad who is part of the Southside Serpents. Right now I’m at the point when who has been committing murders under a hood and they’re trying to catch the guy behind these murders. Very interesting! I do have to say is that I do give props to one of the Sprouse twins as Jughead which he does a really good job as after their Zack & Cody days. I will keep on watching!

Favorite Book: Wormwood Forest and the Cupcake Bakery Mystery Series! Two books I have finished loved during these two months and they are Wormwood Forest: A Natural History of Chernobyl and the Cupcake Bakery Mysteries! First with Wormwood Forest. One thing I love to study is the Chernobyl disaster that took place in 1986 in Ukraine and it shows despite nuclear energy being so clean it is also harmful to someone and can be dangerous if it escapes due to a leak. One of the books I read recently was Wormwood Forest which looked into the more nature parts around the disaster and how radiation affected the environment for the past eighteen years at the point the book was written which it stated at the end of it. I found it interesting that the chemicals went all over like one giant mushroom in a diagram and how some of it still around in the ground but some of it is decaying as years go on. Interesting part was when they mentioned the new Arch that was built to cover the Sarcophagus and how it was planned and having countries on a chart to pay for the project and it did get built and was completed a year ago. There are videos now where people still tour the towns surrounding the area, especially one guy went to one of the newer towns that was built for the refugees from Pripyat. Would I go to Chernobyl? Not sure if it’s on my bucket list due to my thyroid having issues since there are still contaminated areas but it’s good to learn about how nature thrived in this book, heck even horse ranches are out there, wild boars are out there, apparently in the last chapter or two bees were mentioned. It’s fascinating to learn about this disaster itself. And now onto Cupcake Bakery Mysteries, remembered how I went through days without internet? Well, decided to read some of the back logs of books on my Victor Reader Stream and this series was one of them. I wanted to read the latest book dying for Devil’s Food but was turned down due to it being Berkeley Publishing why do you hate me so much? This series was cute and it’s a mystery series about two bakers named Angie and Mel who run a cupcake bakery called Fairy Tale Cupcakes. The start of the series in Sprinkled with Murder deals with their best guy friend, Tate Harper, is engaged and he asks Mel and Angie to bake the cupcakes for his wedding to a famous fashion designer by the name of Christy. Mel agrees to make some samples that the fiancé asks for and drops them off for her to try out. After being called in to talk about the samples, Mel stumbles upon Christy’s dead body with a cupcake in hand. This series was very entertaining and had a lot of laughs! Even the start of book two, Buttercream Bump Off, we get to see their rival, Olivia Pucket, in a giant cupcake costume and causes her to cause a car accident. I couldn’t help but laugh at imagining a middle-aged woman dressed as a cupcake passing out fliers. A lot of things take place and now waiting for the latest to be on Bookshare because I can’t review it. Dar Berkeley, I hope you’re reading this but please let me review more books!

So, that is about it, unfortunately I don’t have any top songs for this bi-monthly favorites so I will be waiting for a months to see about favorite music to do a top five. It has been getting harder and busier for me since I’m going to be moving in November to start a new job to help me save up and get awesome new stuff to help the blog during the down time between conventions which by the way besides Ranger Stop we’re also doing Holiday Matsuri this year! Yay! Will be doing the Convention Spotlight sometime in November if I can since my move is on the 16th so will try and squeeze it in before Ranger Stop. So make sure you follow us on Twitter @ Nerdy Shique! Stay beautiful while traveling the universe!

Favorites: July & August 2018!

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds traveling the vast universe! Welcome back for another post on here and this time it’s my favorites for July and August! Damn, this year is going by fast and I can’t believe Halloween is right around the corner.

Also, if this is in a weird format, I am testing a different word processor known as Jarte since I am going to be teaching tech why not test it out? Anyway’s, let’s get move on!

July and Augusts Favorites 2018:

Favorite Moments from NFB Convention:

Favorite Moment: Interviewing Apl DeAp from the Black Eyed Peas! First I’m starting with the NFB National Convention! I know it’s different from my attending anime conventions in Orlando and as a blind person I do self advocate by attending the anime conventions since I do enjoy it despite having a blind condition. Even the Chapter President at the NFB for Orlando did ask me how am I able to watch anime and my answer is always watching the English version because it is true. I have to rely on the dubbed version even though I can use Seeing A. I. to watch the subtitled version. I want to test it at some point and will get back to you about it but in the meantime I do like to support the actors I’ve interviewed. Speaking of interviews, Gondras and I did get to interview Apl DeAp from the Black Eyed Peas who was performing at the National Convention this year. This was a great opportunity since we do have music lovers reading this blog and from different genres and when I heard that Apl did have an eye condition it was a great opportunity to learn more about it. So, I did put in the request and was fit into the interview line up since two podcasts were also interviewing him. It was great to learn more about him and what he does, if you haven’t seen our interview, you can find the post talking about it here or you can go straight to our YouTube! Also, we are now following the Black Eyed Peas, Furgy, and Apl on Twitter to keep up with them and you should as well.

Favorite Purchase: My Braille Watch! Like most conventions I attend there are vendors at these things and oh man it was huge at the National Convention because you have companies showing their new tech like Google and Microsoft, even new app’s like N Reach which I’m affiliated with, but also products to help with independence and well I did get and that’s my Braille watch. I used to have talking watches and they died over time, even my last one where the talking part just died on me for good. I went a few years without one and when I got my First Time Scholarship I bought a new watch for myself and went with a Braille one because being at loud events like a concert or even in a mall it’s hard to hear the talking parts of the watch while a Braille watch you feel the face and the hands. I have to get used to the hand points though. If you grow your nails like I do, get a men’s watch because it’s easier when reading them.

Favorite Speech: A Kid Who Had Blind Parents! I am not a parent myself but an interesting fact is that the NFB help blind parents and parents of blind children with services and even trying to keep them safe because there are times where blind parents are seen as irresponsible when it comes to them. They do get trained in how to raise them and even the National and State Conventions do have workshops in helping parents who are sighted and blind to raise kids. When this speaker talked about her parents it was an eye opening experience besides the President of course because it shows that parents can get over their struggles in raising a child, even the part how she did the swap of family experiences where someone from a different home gets to live in the home for a week somewhere else and get to see the person’s family and how they lived, the person who lived with her was surprised that she didn’t know her parents were blind and had a great time with them. If you want to be a parent and you’re blind or end up with a kid going blind then the NFB will help you guys out with that.

Ipsy Round Up: Now it’s onto the Ipsy review where I talk about my products and how they went!

July: July is my return to the Ipsy service and it feels good to be back after two years of not having one. Trust me it was sad for me to see many people having videos on it. I was even in tears sometimes. Now that I have it back, I was glad to get it back because I love makeup and I don’t hurt anyone if I love it so much. Let’s see what I enjoyed!

BKR Water Balm: I finished this sample last night and it’s the Water Balm from BKR. I loved the scent of this which is very clean and you hardly smell the rose scent. I had a bit of a dry patch on my lips from scrubbing my lips and it did help with that. Will I buy it though? Even though it costs up in the $20 range I might get it since it is a very nice lip balm for what it is. I can see why they are pretty good as a brand but I do still have my LipSmackers and might purchase this in the future.
Smash box Always On Liquid Lipstick: I was glad to finally try this product since Ipsy was really the place where I got into Smash box. I do like how smooth this liquid lipstick goes on and it is not as drying as most formulas. I do like how wide this wand is and it did go on smoothly on top of my water balm and my lip primer. I may have to purchase this shade or another shade since this definitely got a thumbs up from me!
Sugar Cosmetics Heavy Duty Eye Kohl in Purple Rain: This eyeliner is super creamy! I do love my eyeliner pencils and the funny thing was that when I first subscribed to Ipsy and got my first bag I did get a black one from Lord & Berry and that one lasted me FOREVER and now that I have a full size pencil and it’s a purple one I was glad since I was looking for a new purple eyeliner. This goes on so smooth that there is no tugging like it claims on the product profile. I think this is a popular product since it sold out on Sugar Cosmetics’ USA web site and hoping they restock since I would like to see about the green one since that was another color you could get. I hope to get more products by these guys because they seem really good and this pencil shows it!
Ittse Shadow Single in Switching to Flats: This shadow did go on my eyes very well even though it’s hard to swatch. There are times when that happens with shadows where you get one that doesn’t want to swatch on you and when it swatches better on your eyes. I do like how this is a pan for your Z Pallet or any other company that does magnetic pallets and it’s pretty good for the amount you get. It’s also not expensive either for the shadows for it being an indie brand. They are $7 each for a pan which is not bad at all. I may have to look around because I do have empty slots open for shadow pans.
IB Beauty Eye Shadow Flat Brush: The last item is a brush and I loved this brush! This did apply my shadows very well and I can see why this is a good brand since other people have gotten their products in the past. I hope to get more shadow brushes or other brushes by them since they are very fluffy and soft. I may buy from the brand or if Ipsy has a brush offer for a set. That is why Ipsy has awesome brush offers!

August 2018: My bag this time for August was really great because having such a huge jump from 2015 to 2018 since I never had a bag in 2016 and 2017 due to unsubscribing in 2016 which upsetted me a lot and now I’m back, they did do something different from just back to school related themes like I remembered.
Pixie by Petra Blush Duo in Beach Honey: I used this more as shimmery blush than a highlight and blush. I remembered getting the Rose Gold one a while back and glad to get another one this one but in a peachy tone and it was really great and not only that the same formulation like I remembered. I basically swirl my brush around to give it a good coat and apply it to my cheek bone areas to give it a nice blush.
Riveta by Star Lux Ink Pen and Star: I have used this twice and I am not sure if the star end is working at all when using it. I know the pen tip is working because it does flow very well from it. I am not sure about buying this since the star is not working or it is. Sorry Star Lux!
Bang Beauty Eye Quad in Smoky: This one is a great one! It’s pretty pigmented for me when someone said it wasn’t. I did say with the Ittse single that sometimes shadows don’t swatch on the hand as well as on the eyes. I did like how pigmented it is but the packaging is so small! At least the pans were big enough for a brush. I will be using this when I start working since this is a work appropriate makeup for it being so matte.
Formula 1006 Three Tines the Sublime: Oh man this product is amazing! It helped reduce marks I had from my last time of the month and it does tingle but in a good kind of way. I need to try more expoliants since my skin can be clogged from using makeup and mowing my skin will go through that when I start working. Will I get this one though? Not sure as of yet since a lot of skin care can be pricey and I know I have to work with a budget.
Huda Liquid Matte in Bombshell: ::sigh:: I love this! I love this! I know about how controversial this brand was due to copying Beauty Bakerie with the setting powder which is not okay. I am not sure if I can find a dupe but this was a really good formula and not only that it is very light and comfortable. Why Huda? Why do you have to make a great product?

So far my return to Ipsy has been great! I enjoyed both bags but the least favorite item is the Star Lux liner, the pen part is amazing while the stamp is not working out for me. I can’t wait to see what September brings!

Beauty Favorites:

Fave Bronzer: L’Oreal True Match Lumi Bronze It in Light! I was happy to try out a new bronzer from L’Oreal and it’s their True Match Lumi Bronze It in Light. This bronzer is very pigmented and was glad to try it out. I can’t seem to not use it since it’s not so overbearing and you just need a light hand. According to Gondras, he noticed I went a little heavy when I wore my “Burn In” look during Traverser’s concert and need to go in lightly. It does cost around $12 but it is L’Oreal after all.

New Highlight: Fire Highlight Bar from Wet N Wild! Wet N Wild released their Zodiac collection this month and I only got the Fire Highlight since I was only interested in the highlighting bars after enjoying the one that came with the Midnight Mermaid Collection last year. This one is a bronzy shift highlight and oh man it brings an amazing glow to any warm toned looks! I have used it in my “Burn In” look and my Naked Heat Look and I think I tried it out with something but couldn’t put my finger on it but still this is a great highlight to any collection! Wet N Wild, release more highlighting bars because they are amazing!

Fave Eye Shadow: Fireball from NYX Prismatic Collection! I’ve missed using the NYX Prismatic shadows and when I was doing my “Ignite” look I was looking for an eye shadow to give off the firey red look and found this one while browsing the NYX web site when they had a site wide sale during Fourth of July. This is a beautiful orange shade with a red glitter shift and it does look like a fireball on your eyes. I did use this with my “Burn In” look for the defining shade to give it a burn look. I wish they didn’t break so easily though.

Fave Pallet: Naked 2 and 3 from Urban Decay! I have to give it to those two shadow pallets because I finally got my paws on them! I got them for my birthday this year and glad to complete the collection finally. I wasn’t big into collecting them at first but decided to do it since I did like the shadow pallets from Urban Decay and they are a big staple for a lot of people and I can see why. I also can see why they are important for a lot of us makeup lovers. Not everyone likes these pallets but they have been a big part of so many beginners and lovers for so long. Now they’re discontinuing the Original and someone theorized it might be due to packaging purposes since it is in a velvet package when the others were so sleek and artistic while the Original was bland. hoping that is true because it is the original. I didn’t buy another due to not making dents in mine so I don’t have to really worry. But back to these, these two have colors I normally do wear and I wish there was a Basics pallet for Naked 3 since you can do so much with purple and berry tones in the matte department. Plus, you can make so many looks with these two and even mix them with the other pallets. I also love their pallet casing since they did step up in the packaging.

Project Pan Update: I have finished some stuff and added some things! First with what I finished! I have finished two of my Ipsy products and I stink it was a shadow pigment and the other was the Pearl Fizz eye shadow from Tini Beauty. I got this as a way of promoting the Tini Beauty pallet from a makeup artist which I forgot his name but I do have the pallet in my collection but it was amazing for what it was. I used the Pearl Fizz shadow as a setting shadow for my eye primer to finish it off. Another product I did finish were my two only liquid lipsticks from Kat Von D. These felt like they didn’t have much product left as I wore them and they used to be comfortable but not anymore. This is why I prefer Ofra, NYX, Wet N Wild, Black Moon, and now Huda Beauty’s liquid lipsticks because they’re so comfortable to wear even after they dry down. I heard Jeffree Star’s formula is also comfortable which…I will announce now…I am going to take a try! I know I hear cheering because I gave Jeffree another chance due to how he has changed over time. Anyway’s, sorry Kat but your liquid lipsticks need to be comfortable and they aren’t. I did test them with the BKR Water Balm and that didn’t help either! And I did say I will not be buying anymore KVD stuff due to what’s going on with her. Now onto adding items! I am adding my Vivid Baked Bronzer in Ready To Go from Makeup Revolution because the packaging broke, as in the top fell off. I don’t know how it happened but it did and I tried having my dad remove the pan but it was breaking the product so best to pan it which will take forever but I am patient.

Top Fave Songs: Now it’s time for my top favorite songs of July and August in no particular order!

1. “God Is a Woman” by Ariana Grande: First is Ariana Grande with her song “God is a Woman!” This song surprised me because it was something new when it came to Ariana. The first time I heard it was James Charles singing it and he didn’t sound that bad that most people were saying and then when I heard it always got stuck in my head! Which is now!
2. “Distortion” by BabyMetal: A new song from BabyMetal and man it knows how to be metal! At first I thought it was a Sevendust song since the first riffs remind me of one but when I checked my phone it was BabyMetal! Apparently they released new music and this was from three months ago! Way to go girls!
3. “Hate” by. High & Mighty Color: Now I got the name! The song I have been trying to get on here is “Hate” by High & Mighty Color! We know this band all thanks to one of their songs used for the anime BLEACH and some of their other songs are really good. I’m glad that I Heart Radio plays Japanese artists in their World music genre!
4. “Starfaux Eight Arms” by. Traverser: I have to give it to my boys on this list because they have released a new and awesome song from their new album, Jupiter Doesn’t Care About You. This song shows their Red Shift sound since it has that science fiction theme to it. It even sounds amazing live! Oh yeah, they performed it live this last show! If this was put into an AMV, I thought about the game War Frame because it kind of makes me think about that game especially with the “I am the only one” lyrics. If you haven’t played that game, I highly recommend! Also, check out our interview with Traverser on our YouTube and here!
5. “Hurts Like Hell” by Mr. Bella: My last song for this list is by another Florida band and that is Mr. Bella. I Heart Radio always plays their song, “Herts Like Hell” everytime I play my Favorites Station. Can’t wait when they bring new music, well more new music since they did perform a new one at the last show I went to!

Favorite TV Season: Voltron Legendary Defender Season 7! I have to give it to the creators of Voltron Legendary Defender because with every season that has been made so far it has been very awesome! This season brought on things that you weren’t expecting even a cliff hanger at the end. I am hoping there is a Season 8 because of what had happened at the end of this season and I love this series a lot even slightly more than the original. Not only they changed up the story to make it more of a space opera which makes sense for something like this but it did give the characters more personality and made them more useful. Plus we get to see Alura being more stronger in this one and they did change her character. Maybe I should do a post of Old Vs. New between this and the original because I feel like it needs one since I have known the original series and I should see this one from the very beginning and take some notes since I know it will be one huge post! What do you think? Still, hoping for another season!

Well guys, that’s it for this post! I know it was a long one but hey I had a lot of favorites to talk about! Now I will be adding my Ipsy Round Up and how well the products worked for me or not worked out. Let’s see what holds for me in September and October since I may be moving so I will keep you guys updated on Twitter! Until next time! Stay beautiful while traveling the vast universe!

Favorites: May & June 2018

Hello all of my beautiful nerds traveling the vast universe! I am back with my Favorites and this time it’s May and June! Let’s get started! I do have one non-beauty favorite and a Meh Favorite! Let’s see what I have.

Meh Fave: Urban Decay Primer Potion in Nude! I know everyone fell in love with this but I feel like it is not my fave except it’s a meh! It did work pretty well on my lids and worked better than the Wet N Wild Primer, which I will be talking about next in my Un-Favorites area, it did not glue my lashes shut but I felt like it was going into the lashes a bit. I know I am supposed to put not that much of this product and use the wand but I prefer squeezing it out into my fingers and apply it a lot more easily that way. I feel like this was not for me, I think I prefer my NYX Eye Base in the pot along with the MAC Paint Pots because I have an easier time applying those than primers in the tube and the lip gloss looking container.

Meh Eye Shadow Pallet: Marvel Avengers Infinity War Pallet from Hot Topic! I tend to love the eye shadow pallets from Hot Topic but this is in my Meh category. I did kind of put it under “Regrets’ at first because people on What’s Up In Makeup thought it looked muddy with the shadow look I tried first with the orange, the green, the brown, and others but when I re-did the look with Soul, which is the orange I put it all over my lid and just did more of a neutral eye that way. I thought the shadows were okay but too powdery after realizing it. I may keep on using it but I prefer the unicorn ones and the Galaxy Shadow pallet I got last year.

New Eye Shadow Pallet: Urban Decay Beached Pallet! I finally got this pallet after hearing so many things about it and that is the Beached pallet by Urban Decay. Yes, 2018 is all about the Urban Decay and not sponsored, sorry! I think they’re slaying it this year because of the new pallets they have been coming out with. Anyways, I got my Beached pallet after collecting my points at Ulta and used them on it and it was worth it! All thanks to doing a look with the teal, the deep blue, and the Blaze in this pallet I ended up attracting Hash Tag Sunglasses to it. I love Urban Decay and their shadows have been killing it and I can’t wait to complete the Naked collection since I have been collecting them, I have to keep my paws off my Naked Heat pallets, lol!

New Shadow Quads: Wet N Wild Flights of Fancy Eye Shadow Quads! Along with new releases by many brands, Wet N Wild released their summer collection last month and it’s called the Flights of Fancy Collection for the hummingbirds that are native to California. I got the full set and it was beautiful, I do have a not so favorite but these shadow quads are pretty much what Wet N Wild has done after discontinuing the trios. I think it was a good idea to do that because not only they re-formulated Walking on Eggshells but they added another color to it and it gives us more freedom to play with the quads. I realize I haven’t used the trios as much which I am trying to hit pan on so I can let them go. I used in my video the Hasta La Costa Quad and it is a green and blue quad which is gorgeous! I am thinking of using one of the others in the future since the Braille labels did pop off, which sucks but hey I can use them one day soon. Maybe I should use the rose gold one next week for the NFB Convention, who knows.

New Lip Gloss: Wet N Wild Lip Glosses! Along with those quads, Wet N Wild also released lip glosses! Those things are great except you have to kind of build them up due to the applicator. Usually with most lip glosses I do one swipe or two and I’m good but it feels like you kind of build up with two swipes on the bottom and top but still these aren’t sticky like most lip glosses. Not even sticky like MAC.

Lip Scrub: E. L. F. Lip Scrub in Mint! I finally got to try the Lip Scrubs from E. L. F. Normally I would use the ones from Lush but it’s been forever since I got any lip scrubs from them since now the drugstore is starting to create their own, even Wet N Wild made their own for the Flights of Fancy collection which seriously should be permanent! At first when I got the scrub in my package, this was when they did free shipping a little while ago, I thought it was weird due to how it looked as a lip stick tube. When I started using it, it felt weird at first because of how compact it is together and then realized I had to run it across a few times to make it work and then wipe it off with a cotton round. Easy enough and it is hard to be tempted to eat because I love mint! That is the reason why I went for mint. I definitely want to try the other ones that they came out with and they aren’t as expensive as Lush or the coffee one I have made with coffee from Ulta, this one is good!

New Translucent Powder: NYX Pressed Powder! So, I went to NYX last month and to get a new powder to get for my under eye because I felt the LA Girl one was running out faster and I felt that there was not much in the pan and realized I liked pressed more. So, I did find out that the NYX Setting Powder is also pressed and got it in Translucent. I love it! I can see why people recommend this powder to use as a setting powder and it feels as lightweight as you wear it.

New Mascara: NYX worth the Hype Mascara! So, I reached my first round of points at NYX and ended up getting a free tube of the Worth the Hype Mascara as a sample size and I heard good things about it from one person and when I got it, I was hoping it would not be flake city like Better than Sex and guess what? It wasn’t! I carry this in my makeup bag and whenever I spend the night at Gondras’ place and don’t hand don’t have any makeup I turn to this! It makes my lashes look so full! Way to go NYX, I want the full size now!

New Blush: The Baked Blushes by Wet N Wild! Speaking of WNW earlier, another item from their Flights of Fancy is the Baked Blushes. Sorry WNW, you need to make these permanent! Milani has had them for a long time! Anyways, these blushes are gorgeous! I think I use the nude one the most because it was a shade you rarely find as a baked one, you do have Apricot in The Middle, which I still need to get and try out, these definitely need to be permanent and they are very good in blending them on your cheeks.

New Setting Spray: Wet N Wild Matte Setting Spray! Yes, a lot of Wet N Wild but they have been getting my money for any of their face items because I used to use Almay and getting the foundation and powder was costing a bit much so I switched to Wet N Wild’s stuff since it’s cheaper and I like the wand part more than the pump. Anyways, I decided to try the setting spray from Wet N Wild and I prefer this more because the NYX one I’ve been using the Demi Matte formula was breaking me out in certain areas of my face but mostly around my cheeks the most. I think I’m a little too sensitive to their spray and I even felt itchy around the areas on my face after a few hours. The Wet N Wild doesn’t do that to me! I think it’s the ingredients that they use, I know one ingredient is Vitamin E if I remembered and it doesn’t cause me to itch nor break out. I think also that the NYX one was not reacting well to the Clearasil products I’ve been using. This spray has been working out beautifully and now on bottle number two! I am able to find this spray easily at Walmart and even on Ulta’s website and it doesn’t cost an arm and leg like most sprays. I also like how it smells, it smells sweet!

Not-So-Favorites:

Wet N Wild Eye Shadow Primer and Primer Water Spray: These two items are not my favorites at all when it comes to makeup! I am so sorry Wet N Wild here are my reasons. I mentioned above, the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Eye Shadow Primer was the thing I wanted to try for so long! SO LONG! But it sucks! It glued my lashes SHUT! I hated how it felt like glue and it was thick as paste as it came out of the tube, I had to go back in for more dollops of this stuff and it glued my lashes shut. I am sorry, that is not supposed to happen when you put on any eye shadow primer even from a pot. I had to toss it, shadow primer is not glue Wet N Wild! And the other item, I tried loving but couldn’t due to how the spray nozzle stopped working correctly and that is the Primer Water that came with the Flights of Fancy collection. I was hoping this would last me for a while and I loved how cooling it was while spraying it and it did set very well but as time went on the spray nozzle would not work! I tried shaking it and it would still not work. It was like it worked once and would not work again! I take back that I want it permanent, I think I will stick to the Hydro Touch I’ve been using and I am planning to try out the Dewey Primer from Wet N Wild and see how that compares but sorry the primer spray does not get my love. I did toss it too.

Non-Beauty Faves!

Book: Tiffany Blues by. M. J. Rose! This was a very enjoyable read by M. J. Rose and it is called Tiffany Blues. If you read my review, you could tell I loved every page of it and I didn’t want to stop reading it because of how beautiful it was. I did do a makeup look based on the Tiffany Glass colors you heard throughout the book and I felt like I was brought to the 1920s to when Jenny was there doing art. If you have not read this book, I highly recommend as an excellent read!

Another Book: The Dream Keeper’s Daughter by. Emily Colin! Another book is the Dream Keeper’s Daughter by. Emily Colin. I didn’t want to leave Kindle alone with this one either because of how it pulled you between past and present to see how the two main characters, Max and Isabel, go through the times they were in with Isabel trying to live her life while Max is getting her mom back. I would say read that one too if you’re interested.

Recipe Favorite: Pickle Dip! I know what you are thinking, “Say what!?” you can make a dip out of anything and pickles was an interesting dip to make because you had many things going into it besides dill pickles, you also had cream cheese, garlic paste, and other things and came out to have an interesting mild taste. I would say if you find the recipe from Publix, which is who I got it from, use pretzels because they go the best with it.

Movie: Avengers Infinity War! Next is movie and you already know! Avengers Infinity War was a great film except the ending. All I have to say is, “Damn it Quill and Thor! You had one job!” I won’t spoil the rest and I can’t wait to catch any other Marvel movies even if it means on Netflix.

Series: Series of Unfortunate Events! Okay, I wasn’t expecting to watch this because Nerdy Shirts and his brother asked GOndras to be in a video with them reacting to episode 9 of season 2. Gondras couldn’t get past a certain point in Season 2 but I kept watching. All I have to say is that I never read the books but this was a great too series since they had Neil Patrick Harris being Count Olaf in this one. You never thought he would play creepy very well until you see this and it helps with his Broadway musical background because he does sing the theme song and it’s catchy! I can’t wait to see what Season 3 holds for the Bodalairs since the final episode of Season 2 revealed a big thing and I can’t reveal it. If you want to see the reactions on this series, make sure you check out the Super Reaction Bros.!

Top Five Songs!

1. Ignite by. Alan Walker! First on my list is a song by Alan Walker who performed at this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas! This year it was in May rather than June to keep people cool at night. I never heard of Alan Walker until I saw a video of his set and it brings an awesome beat but this song called, “Ignite,” got me loving his music even more. I do like his first song, “Fade,” from his early days but this one fits the sci-fi theme we pull on here, I would so use this as a theme song if YouTUbe doesn’t get mad.
2. “Odd Future” English Cover by. Jonathan Young: Next is another cover by Jonathan Young and it’s the fourth My Hero Academia theme song called “Odd Future.” I I’ve been loving this anime a lot and thank you Gondras for showing it to me and need to watch more of but this is one of my fave songs from that series.
3. “Dirty” by. Sevendust! Oh yeah! My Southern Metal boys are back and this time with a newer song! Apparently they have released new music and this song is called “Dirty.” It kind of goes back to their more metal roots since the Seasons album had more of a softer sound and their song, “Unraveling” was also pretty soft but do like it but this one it calls back to what I knew Sevendust for and kept it up!
4. “History Maker” Cover by. Nate Wants to Battle: I know this is not new but I can’t stop listening to it because it always get in my head, plus May was all about meeting with my destiny of getting my job offer, getting to go to the NFB National Convention, and of course being accepted at Northern Arizona. I am following my dreams people!
5. “Lion Skin” by. Hands like Houses: Even though there have been other songs that have been appearing on my I Heart Radio but this one was unique out of all the music that has been on there lately. I’ve never heard of this band but if I had then I wouldn’t have looked at their info but this song is a really good one. Almost reminds me of “Arrow” by Gackt in the beginning but then goes into its own song.
Well, that’s it for this bi-montly favorites. I know a lot of Wet N Wild was on this list because they have been in my makeup collection even more after using their powder and foundation. I may be adding Clearasil next time since the face wash I got was not a face wash but it was a face mask but I have the actual face wash so I will be giving another two months before I add them to my favorites since so far my skin has been getting better and people noticing in my pictures. So next time will be my review on the NFB National Convention since I need to take time to read some books! Until next time! And follow us on Twitter @ Nerdy Shique!

Favorites: March & April 2018

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! It is time for favorites!

March & April 2018 Favorites!

Favorite Cosplay: Rarity from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic! First is my favorite moments of Omni Fandom Expo from this year! I always start off any favorites when there is a convention involved in the two months that they are based on! First is my five cosplay to do this one and that is Rarity from My Little Pony! I picked up a tulle dress from Hot Topic and one of them happened to be Flutter Shy while the other being Rarity! I was surprised that so many recognized my costume even though I did get mixed up as Twilight Sparkle, which I wanted her dress but that wasn’t in my size. I also thought I was getting Apple Jack except that order got cancelled which it said my size was in stock but then it wasn’t. Anyways, I did get the wig and the unicorn horn that was on clearance at Hot Topic’s website and it worked out! I did forget my bronzer except my makeup looked fine to people, I wore the Pur My Little Pony Movie pallet which is based on the newer ponies while Colour Pop did their stuff based on the classic ones. I used the shades in Rarity and Generosity alongside Mythical Dreams from Wet N Wild’s Unicorn Glow set, the Infinite Star eyeliner from NYX alongside Pure Society from NYX, Unicorn Heart from Makeup Revolution and Pearlescent Pink from Wet N Wild! I also wore my unicorn earrings from Etsy. I was happy that people loved my cosplay and I do have to fix one of the ears on the horn headband because I had to do that with the horn which it looks like its ripping. I am definitely going to do this costume again because of how many compliments I got as her!

Favorite Find in the Vendor’s Room: Pink Ranger Lunch Box! Something that I found in the vendor’s room that I never would think to find and that is my Pink Ranger lunch box from Mighty Morphen Power Rangers! I wished I had this when I was young since that is how I got into Power Rangers like any kid! Trust me I wanted to see the movie when I was a kid in the theaters. I would so take this with me with my food during Ranger Stop if we do press this year because I would be having fun if someone catches me with this. Plus, the price was hard to give it up for because it was only $5 when something like this would be around $14 at Hot Topic. Knowing Gondras would probably guilt trip if I didn’t buy it either because you can’t find this as much as you could back in the 1990s!

Best Interview: With Derek Steven Prince! Reason why is that not only we had an hour but I feel like this has been one of my best interviews I’ve done. I was able to learn a lot about a voice actor and even was surprised that his first role was on Power Rangers, hey Ranger Stop, get him! Get him! Even with the actor who played Divatox, you could have so much fun! Also, you get pretty good advice on top of it if you want to get into voice acting. I did mention in the Paul St. Peter panel post that every actor has different advice to get into the voice acting business and this will be a nice learning experience from our interview with him.

Most Favorite Moment: Being Brought Up Front by No Ordinary Balloon Man at His Panel! I had to mention this because it was the most touching moment of all time. I will never forget this and having my badge on my wall was one reason why I have it there and that was when I brought up by Bruce during his Twisting up the Odds panel. I did help him with re-creating a penguin he made for a kid that had the same disability as him and also blind and it shows that I was seen as an inspiration to him and everyone else in the room because I’ve overcame a lot of obstacles like he has in life except it was with blindness and that was even harder. All thanks to this moment, I did write an article for the Braille Monitor which is NFB’s newsletter that comes out every month. I’m a member and also a board member for the Central Florida Chapter and one thing is to be a self-advocate and my representation of the blindness community at these conventions doing press is one of those things. I can’t wait to see if my article about this moment ends up in May’s newsletter. In the meantime, this is still my favorite moment!

Favorite Event: This Year’s Script Reading! This year’s script reading was one of the most entertaining since there were a lot more guests to play with and more scripts to have. It was entertaining to see everyone read the two Guardians 2 scripts even with the part where Groot had to bring back Yandu’s fin and you had Derek doing his VImpmon voice for Yandu which kind of matches and Josh as Rocket Raccoon. Even though Josh as the typical Jewish mom for the Fifth Element was awesome too! I did almost yell out, “Think of your character from Mad Bull 34!” For doing Rocket or was it something else. Why? In that anime, he did have a New York accent and I would say watch Bennet the Sage’s Anime Abandoned episode for the clip.

Makeup!

Brush Set: The Unicorn Brushes from Black Beauty! First is a brush set and I loved the brushes that Hot Topic’s Black Heart Beauty brand came out with because they are nice and soft! You get four and they include a contour brush, a blush brush, an all-over eye shadow brush, and a liner brush! All of them perform beautifully but I think the eye shadow brush should’ve been made with more bristles because I felt like it was a bit flimsy when it applied eye shadow. To me the other brushes were very well made and performed awesome!

New Shadow Pallet: Urban Decay Petite Heat! I know I won’t shut up about the Naked Heat and now it’s the Petite Heat! I was on the fence of getting this since it included matte shades that weren’t in the Naked Heat and one shade that should’ve been in the original and that is the orange shade in this one. Yeah, there is the terra cotta shade in the original but would have a better balance with the orange and I can see why I can pair this one with the original and it worked out!

Favorite Re-Discovered Item: NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams! Well, I finally got these again since NYX did send me the email about items that will be gone once sold out and I got a set of the Soft Matte Lip Creams. It’s been forever since I had these in my lip drawer and never re-purchased over time. I always loved Milan and want to get that again since it looked so good on me and I noticed they released more shades even San Juan since I’m Puerto Rican I may need to get that one too and the color even sounds pretty. These are five re-discovery.

New Skin Care: Clearasil Acne Protection Face Wash and Stubborn Acne Pads! Recently, I switched my face wash and facial cleaning pads to the Clearasil brand because I was running low and was in Target with my dad and tried to find my Stridex ones since I was getting my five Hydro Touch primer and Target is the only other store besides CVS that carries NYX. So, since they didn’t have Stridex, I decided to check out Clearasil and remembered how this brand has been around since my middle school days and fell in love with the facial wash sample I got and tried to get my mom to buy me that specific one and she wouldn’t listen to me! She always pushed using soap as my face wash and it made my skin dry over time. Then I remembered it was either my brother or my nephew leaving a container of the facial pads and loved those, they were the ones that exfoliate only not the ones I got and used Stridex afterwards. I noticed my face was not recovering over time as much as I hoped and when my dad read out Acne Protection and Prevention on the face wash that got me interested because there are times where I do get my zits show up and then what got me sold to have Clearasil for real was the facial pads which read, “Gets rid of stubborn acne!” Yes, they were $8 each but they always say pay a little more for skin care because you have one skin so take care of it. I’m not talking about going Sunday Riley prices but these two things so far do work. Starting to at least because the little pads are exfoliating my face which you have a rough side and a smooth side and I first exfoliate and then use the smooth side to calm everything down and I feel like the little bumps that don’t want to leave are starting to come up and reduce a little, it will take time which all skin care does for most people and I will update in due time to see if it’s still working. I do love the clean smell that both give off! Oh right, the face wash, it’s not so harsh like the Clean & Clear, it’s just a creamy wash and it also smells nice! Let’s see how well it goes!

Book: The Ballad of Huck & Miguel! Next is five book and I give it to The Ballad of Huck & Miguel because it was a modern twist to the classic by Mark Twain and when I sent Tim DeRoche the review he was surprised I never read the classic but this gives you a newer idea of that tale. I loved it and didn’t want to close Kindle at all while reading this.

Songs: It’s that time again! Time for my favorite songs!

1. “I Want It That Way” by. Backstreet Boys! First song on my top five is from my pop roots and that is “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys. I was a fan when I was younger and since I had them in my head for the longest time it was time to give them another listen. It felt good to listen to their music again because it brought me back so many memories and I did go to see them when they toured with the Black & Blue album which was the last album before they went on hiatus. I did hear how Kevin left the band which I remembered hearing one of their latest songs on I Heart and it’s not bad but this song has brought so many memories and I’m able to sing along with to this day. Nineteen years I can still sing it!
2. “Crossing Fields” cover by. Jonathan Young! Next is another cover I love by Jonathan Young and that is the cover of the first theme song from Sword Art Online. I loved this song when I first saw SAO when it was just subbed and when I heard the English translated cover I was happy. At first I heard a girl do it, not sure who it was but it sounded good until I heard Jonathan Young’s version and loved it even more! I did get it on ITunes for my phone playlist.
3. “Re: Re:” by. Asian Kung Fu Generation! Yay! I’m back to my Japanese music roots since I rarely mention any artists from Japan on these lists. I think it’s because there haven’t been many new songs coming out and Gendou hasn’t been updating as much. There is one song I was happy about that was used for the anime Erased and that’s “Re: Re:” by Asian Kung Fu Generation. I remembered first hearing this song back in 2006 on their Solfa album and wondered what it was called for the longest time until we saw the anime Erased in the viewing rooms at Omni 2016. When Gondras told me the title, it did make sense that it got its title since it’s like a response to love in time since in the translated versions we tend to hear starts with “I’ve waited for you! I’ve waited for you!” And makes sense for the anime due to the time travel that takes place. This is an amazing song and glad that they did a re-recording for the 2016 version of the album and knowing that I will be getting it onto my phone at some point.
4. “History Maker” from Yuri!! On Ice! Knowing that Vivi is reading this and might get it in her head. So, I’ve been getting “History Maker” in my head ever since I started watching Yuri!!! On Ice with the girls on our Galantine’s Date and I do sing along with it time to time too when I ever listen to Nate Wants to Battle’s version and Pellock’s version, which I prefer his version more due to how pretty it sounds with the guitars and the rest of the instrumentation. The reason why I also love this song is that it does have a great message along with it because since I’ve been working on my Grad application I have been having this song in my head due to how I want to follow my dream of becoming an A. T. Specialist and I do agree with the lyric, “We are born to make history!” Because we are the only ones to make history happen not anyone else when it comes to what we want to do and that’s how I felt when I re-wrote my essay which I need to Spell Check it and the song was also in my head even at the point where I mentioned that I felt regret for not going and finishing the original Minor I wanted to do. If you have the time, I would suggest the full version of this song and give it a good listen to on repeat, it’s a really good song!
5. “A Rose for Epona” by. Iluvuti! Finally, I’m listening to this song because it’s always in my head as of late! I heard of this band while watching a Pastel Goth tutorial which had no voice over to it but let the music play. They’re pretty much Celtic Metal kind of like how I put seven dust under Southern Metal, Iluvuti is Celtic Metal and they do it so well too! This is the prettiest song for a metal song and sometimes makes me think of Fairy Tail since they do River Dance music mixed with metal in that series and same with Seven Deadly Sins. I did have another song from these guys in mind but this song seems to stick with me! Maybe that other one will be on the next list, you will never know!
Well, that is it for this list. I know it wasn’t much because I was really wearing the same kind of cosmetics to my customer service training courses and hardly any room to try new things. Hoping I will have new favorites in the next two months. What is next? Will be reviewing a new app I have been trying out by Microsoft! So, stay tuned!

Favorites: January and February 2018!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Sorry for being missing since my last book review but I have been busy living life outside of the net and I do have a major announcement or two within my January & February Favorites!

Announcements:

New Panel At Omni Expo 2018: Yes! My panel has been approved for Omni Expo 2018 and this one is a little different from the one last year. Nerdy Shirts talked to me about it during MegaCon when we were doing press and he thought I should do a panel on writing and get the word about my book, well now books, out there more and well from what you have read from my Holiday Matsuri 2017 review, I had panel form issues and couldn’t do it then. I did point it out on their Facebook group and they got back and said that they will try and make it more accessible with mobile devices which looking at how Event Bright works well on the apps they should definitely do it that way. I did put in the panel form for Omni last summer since they were accepting panels around July and I did fill it out. I didn’t know it got approved until a week and a half ago and now it’s going to be hosted on March 10th which is that Saturday during the con at 5 PM in Panel Room 1. It is during the costume contest this year but I figured since scheduling it on Saturday is where a lot more people show up during Saturday than Friday and a lot more things take place in Panel Room 1. I am hoping to get a better turn out this year than the last when we tried in the afternoon in Panel Room 2 on Friday. So crossing my fingers. What makes me happy about this slot is that it’s right after Joshua Seth;s panel that day! Yay! You get two authors for the price of one since he is also an author himself. So, if you’re going to Omni, please come! Please do!

Going for my JAWS Certification: My second announcement is that I’m going for my JAWS Certification and that’s the main reason why I have been gone for a bit. As you guys know, I have changed my career goal to work as an Assistive Tech Specialist and as my first step of getting myself back in the game even getting a job is to get this certification since a lot of positions are seeing if you do have a certification as a plus. I figured getting this would help me out in my search and can help any public or private schools or even universities with JAWS if they were to put in their computer labs which it would be nice. So, I have been studying for the test itself despite being familiar with it for years but there are other things to look over for it. So, wish me luck everyone!

Faves:

Brow Product: NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade in Chocolate! You never thought I would go for something outside of my clear brow gel comfort zone until I have tried brow powders from Ulta all thanks to their makeup sets. I decided to see about getting one of the powders from NYX’s Baking Brow Powders but got the brow pomade instead and in the color Chocolate. I love this stuff! There are times when I want to keep my brows from going crazy and this does help since the Essence brow gel is so light and using the NYX pomade on top helps with keeping it down. Plus, these are perfect for the Florida humidity since knowing we’re in our early spring time and the humidity does go up around late March, this will be perfect once we hit that point of time.

New Pallet: Urban Decay Naked Heat! Well, I finally got it! I know it’s been out for a while but I got my paws on the Urban Decay Naked Heat pallet. I figured it was time to treat myself and since I have been starting to collect the Urban Decay Naked series pallets I felt that it was time to see what the newer Naked pallet was all about and lovin’ it! I used it on Valentine’s Day and took a pic for the What’s Up In MakeUp and everyone thought it went well with my eye color with the combination I came up with. I’m still sad that the Naked Smoky was discontinued but glad that this one replaced it and so far I have the Ultimate Basics, Basics 1 and 2, the original one, Naked Smoky, and now Naked Heat!

New Setting Powder for Under Eyes: L. A. Girl Setting Powder in Translucent! This was a recommendation all thanks to Casey Holmes on YouTube and that is the setting powder by L. A. Girl. Ulta has been carrying this brand and apparently they have them in store and now shrinking the NYX section to make room for more of this brand and other brands. I do love NYX but have been impressed by how huge their display is and can see why they’re doing it. Makes me sad though I couldn’t get a new pot of Super Natural from the Cosmic Gel Liner line. Anyways, I wanted to try this powder for a little while since I had heard good things and was happy that the Altamonte location had it and decided to use Translucent and loving it! The only thing you have to do is tap off any excess powder if you were to dip in without using the sifter. Yeah, I take out the sifter to use it and put it back like my E. L. F. one and this one is bigger than the E. L . F. one and knowing it will last me longer than that.

New Foundation & Powder: Wet N’ Wild Photo Focus Foundation and Powder in Buff Beige and Warm Beige! Well, I stepped out of my Almay comfort zone and started to use a new foundation and powder. I deicded due to a budget to try out Wet N Wild’s Photo Focus foundation and powder since I was running low on both and now I can see why everyone or mostly everyone enjoyed this line! I love the foundation which was unique in its own way with you use the little paddle to spread the foundation on your face and then use a sponge or brush to blend it in. It blends very well, my color in the foundation by the way is Buff Beige due to how warm my skin is and it was hard to see which one matched best among the light medium shades and this one was matched to me by my dad due to vision. And the powder is in Warm Beige and man this one didn’t feel so powdery like when I used the one from Almay. I may have to try out the setting spray since I did have a setting spray sprayed on me all thanks to Vivi since powder can end up on my phone but these two things have been a nice addition and it looks like I will be using for a long time. Also, the foundation is not too cakey and the smell reminds me of white chocolate almost. Way to go Wet N Wild!

Fave MakeUp Remover: Shea Moisture Coconut Oil! I have stepped away from the Garnier Mycellar Water to make room for coconut oil and I have been using the one from Shea Moisture. I have been using the Shea Moisture since last summer since my nose was so dry in the creases and started using it and it leaked in delivery from Ulta so I had to get a free one and that leaked and got a refund. I love this stuff because you can use it as a moisturizer on your face which I have done, on my hair sometimes even if I didn’t pack any hair products when I stay with Gondras, and now cleaning my makeup with it. Mycellar Water was causing my skin to feel dryer over time and decided to look into using coconut oil and it does work! It’s easy to remove where you swirl your cotton ball into the oil and wipe first and then use a tissue to wipe it off like with Cold Cream. I’ve been using it and find it better and it doesn’t break the cap when it falls from the counter. Sorry Garnier but Shea has my heart for now until I run out and going to Trader Joe’s afterwards.

Books: Goddess of Forgetfulness by. Mimi Jean Pamfiloff and Nemecene: The Epoch of Redress by Kaz LeFave! One part of being a little away is reading some books on my Kindle app on my Galaxy Tab! Well, one on my PC at home and these two happen to be Goddess of Forgetfulness by. Mimi Jean Pamfiloff which is book four in the Immortal MatchMakers Series and Nemecene: The Epoch of Redress by. Kaz LeFave. Forgetty was a very cute and funny story and it has me reading the first book in the series now which is on my IBooks app at this moment while Nemecene 1 is a new format I wouldn’t expect since the story was told from three different perspectives. I can’t wait to get into the next one since I need to start on it soon. Kaz did start writing a screen play and can’t wait to see how this series will be turned into a film. Really great reads if you’re looking for something new!

Well, that’s it guys! I know I don’t have any music faves it’s due to reading more than listening to music. I hope to have some fave songs for the next faves though! Let’s see what happens next and also stay tuned for all of our coverage from Omni Expo 2018 because this year will be action packed from what I put on my itinerary for this year’s convention! Until next time! And if you haven’t yet, I’ve been doing a lot more videos lately too over on the Nerdy Shique Universe channel including my cosplay looks for Rarity and my Digimon character and even did the following someone’s tutorial with And That’s Jacob!

Bests & Worsts of 2017!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Happy New Year all and it is time for the Bests & Worsts of 2017! Man, this was a fast year and man I have things to say in both the Bests and Worsts!

Disclaimer: This list is based on thoughts and opinions and observations of what took place this year! Please respect with what I thought and thank you!

Bests:

Interview: Chris Rager and Josh Martin from Omni Expo 2017! Man, this year was a lot of drama when it came to interviews but I feel like I had to mention one in this category and that is my interview with Chris Rager, who voiced Hercule Satan, and Josh Martin, who voice Magen Boo, from DBZ. This was the second duo interview we’ve ever done in the NSU past since we have done it with the Dino Thunder rangers at Omni 2016 and when I found out that Chris Rager and Josh Martin were going to be guests this past year I thought to ask Gondras to see about doing another duo interview since the last we have done was a success. It had fun doing this one actually because I got to have my talk show moment with these two and we did have the couch and I felt like Wendee Williams, the Talk cast, and so on interviewing these two. I would so do a talk show or join one since talk shows are my guilty pleasure during certain times in the year. I do call my interviews the Shique Hot Seat and will keep it calling that even with Omni next year! I also have to say where the staff placed us for interviews was also great since we do enjoy the privacy and not so much noise since we do have the Florida Mall areas underneath. If you haven’t seen the video, I would go into our archive or on our YouTube channel directly.

Email Interviews: Linda Ballantyne and Katie Griffin from Sailor Moon! As you know the problems with us and MegaCon interviews so I had to take it to Twitter to see if anyone wanted to do email interviews where I send the questions to a voice actor or actress and we get the answers and I was happy to do it with Katie Griffin, the original voice of Sailor Mars, and Linda Ballantyne, one of the original actresses of Sailor Moon. These two were major sweethearts and understanding with what happened since I felt upset about not having that one on one with them. One thing I do love about doing the Shique Hot Seat in person is more interpersonal and you get to actually see them in the camera and interact with me. I am so glad I did start doing videos but Mega said no so the next best thing and I did thank them in person and gave them lanyards I made themed of their Sailor Scouts. I even wore my Sailor Moon R broach. I did read the interviews and did enjoy their answers too, you will see what Christina V. said when I asked if she had met Katie since you have read Katie’s response about Christina. So stay tuned for that! I still thank Katie and Linda for doing that for me and I am very grateful for it.

Movies: I bet you are wondering why I put “movies?” Well…this year we only saw five movies that were really awesome and it is hard to pick out and I will say the reasons why I chose them and not in particular order either.

1. The Last Jedi: First is the new Star Wars flick to be released this year and we just saw it last week. I know normally we would catch it first day but Holiday Matsuri was on opening day. This movie was awesome and it does show how the torch gets passed onto the next person to be a Jedi. Yes, the story was clunky to some but how they told it was very well done and it flowed. I never thought playing around with telepathy like they did would take place in a film like they did. And we got to see the Yoda puppet return for this movie and I missed that about Episode 2 since they did him in C. G. I.! Thank you Disney for bringing the puppet back. Also, I have to give props to Little Kuriboh for this because he was the one who did the audio description! Nerdy Shirts did tell me about it and when I listened to it I did hear snippets of Yami and Kaiba a little bit in the description but they did pick the right person for this since he did get the dramatization right, heck I even went wide-eyed from the suspense during the description. Way to go man!
2. Thor: Ragnarok: Next is Thor: Ragnarok which I have to say was the strongest of the Thor flics in the Marvel universe. Dark World was funny but they cut down on Chris Eckleston’s character during this and the first one was fun but to me the third one was the best because you do have the call back to Dr. Strange and also bringing back the Hulk and following the apocalyptic myth in the Norse myths. I did love Cate Beckinsale as Hela, I know it is supposed to be Hel but this is Disney after all, but she did a very good job on this character after her character in the Underworld series. And the comedy flowed a lot better in this one than the other two because as you all know that comedy has to flow not be forced nor take over the action most of the time like the second one. I can’t wait what awaits Thor and Hulk in Infinity War with the other Avengers!
3. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2: I have so many words to say but this one did continue Guardians very well since we did get to see what happened to Quill’s mom in the first and then see what happened and who his dad was in the second one. This movie made me laugh the most and I thought I would go into tears from so much comedy even though the part that had me laughing the most was when Baby Groot brought a person’s toe to Rocket’s and Yandu’s cell. Sorry to say, with this one, I didn’t recognize most of the songs except for “Surrender” by Cheap Trick to be honest. Still, this was very entertaining and a great start for the summer movies! I can’t wait to see the Guardians’ role in Infinity War too next year since they are showing up.
4. Wonder Woman: Finally a movie that Warner Brothers did right! I am so glad Zack Sneider didn’t touch this one with his writing nor directing because with how they did this movie was perfect! Yeah, it is supposed to be in World War II but this did work out in the end. Too bad they didn’t continue this movie making in Justice League because I heard how the movie was not that great.
5. Spiderman Homecoming! And finally, Spidey’s back! We were happy that this film brought back the whimsy and comedy we loved about Spidey in the cartoons and a sweet relief that Marvel has him back and can do the proper films with him. Seeing the Vulture as the first villain made sense because with most of the villains besides Green Goblin and Doc Oc, we hardly see any origin stories for them either. We are hoping to see Scorpion step up in the next Spidey film since it seems that way with the last credit scene during the movie. So glad Spidey is back!
Best Stan Lee Cameo: Being With the Watchers in Guardians Volume 2! It was hard to choose which of the Stan Lee cameos were the best since the one in Thor and Guardians were equally good but I would lean towards him being in Guardians Volume 2 because it was a surprise one and that is him telling things with the Watchers. I couldn’t hear what was being said due to everyone around me plus Gondras laughing their butts off with Yandu and Rocket speeding by in the distance but it makes sense for Mr. Lee because he does go into tangents even for his age. If you see the videos from MegaCon with his panel, you would know!

Makeup Brand of the Year: Wet N Wild! Next is Makeup Brand of the Year and I give it to Wet N Wild because they blew other brands out of the water with their seasonal collections especially the Unicorn Glow and Midnight Mermaid Collections this past summer and fall! Sorry Makeup Revolution, Too Faced, Tarte, and everyone else who jumped in the unicorn and mermaid themes this year but Wet N Wild blew you guys out of the Last Unicorn’s Forest and Ariel’s home with their stuff! The Midnight Mermaid collection was a major success with how much of the bundle sold out and some of the items sold out on the WNW website and of course the Unicorn Glow selling out on Ulta’s website. Out of these two I do think the Unicorn Set happened to be my favorite overall because I got to play with more highlights and I did do a video series where I created looks of a Goth Unicorn, a Colorful Unicorn, and a Smoky Unicorn and had fun with all of them! I may have to come back to one of the highlights and glitter pigments when I do my Rarity eye look for Omni Expo.

Liquid Lipstick: Wet N Wild Liquid Lipsticks! Next is all about Liquid Lipsticks and I give it to Wet N Wild too because of how they came into 2017 with new products and that included a collection of liquid lipsticks! You weren’t expecting how well these will do, heck I had a hard time looking for Rebel Rose which is the pinky rose shade in the collection. They even did metallic colors for Midnight Mermaid with a coral, a burgundy, a blue, and a green to show their gothic side. I did hear they did do some for their Fantasy maker’s line for Halloween but couldn’t find anything but these lippies are amazing to have in your collection!
Runner Up: NYX Lip Lingerie! I have to give the Runner up slot to NYX for their Lip Lingerie line because of how comfortable these things are especially during a convention. They stay put and they even go on very evenly when you have a lip primer on. I do enjoy these and they are not as expensive since they are at a drugstore price.

Makeup Sets: Ulta! Next is Best Makeup Sets and I give it to Ulta! Ulta has improved their makeup game over time since their last sets I picked up a few years back. The sets I got were Love Makeup, Beauty Treasures, and Be Gorgeous and these three are amazing except for one part of the Love Makeup pallet where I feel like they should’ve changed the color selection before releasing because some of the shades are not as cohesive but at the same time you can get a look with most of them. The one I do love the most is Be Gorgeous since it has a variety of colors to play with and you can come up with a ton of looks and it did get me into color correcting after all. Way to go Ulta and keep up with the good work!

Best Actress: Gal DuGat! I know I should’ve mentioned this in the movies arena but this list is in no particular order and this year’s Best Actress goes to Gal DuGat who played the title character of Wonder Woman. I think Warner Brothers picked a very good actress to play Diana because of how strong she made her to be. I wished they made her better in Batman vs. Superman or not use her at all and just stick her with her own movie but the actress pick was pretty spot on.

Best Actor: Dave Bautista! It was hard to choose but I give it to Dave Bautista who plays Drax in the Guardians movies because with this character he played a very awesome and awkward badass! Plus, he has to go through hours of makeup in order to play this role! Still, I give it to him especially how awesome he did in Guardians 2!
Runner Up: Jeff Goldblum! My runner up slot goes to Jeff Goldblum because it was hard to say who gets this slot, him or Dave? Reason why Jeff is in this category because of his role in Thor Ragnarok and he did amazing for his part. I know everyone is hating that he didn’t get the blue makeup treatment like the actual character but he hit the personality and you did get to see him have a cameo dancing in the credits of Guardians 2!

T. V. Season: Doctor Who Season 10! Best season of a t. v. series for me goes to Doctor Who because this ended Capaldi’s run in the best way possible even with the Christmas Special! I am still wishing they continued the part of the season where he goes blind but there is always the new doctor to play around with for next season and the seasons after. I and Gondras did like how they called back to the First Doctor especially with the last arc with the Cyber Men and bringing a past version of the Master on top of it. I can’t wait to see what they do with Doctor 13!
Runner Up: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Season 7! I bet you are wondering why? Well, this season did continue where it left off with the last one with Starlight Glimmer taking on the ideas of friendship all thanks to Twilight Sparkle and I was hoping they continue with her because knowing and my feeling is that she may be the next in line to have Aracorn powers like the princesses. Who knows if Season 8 may show that if it does happen. I did like and wasn’t expecting that they would talk about Star Swirled the Bearded and his companions who help form the first Elements of Harmony which I wish they talked about that more in all honesty because I felt that came out nowhere but it did show what had happened to him and his companions. Now hoping Season 8 would continue and I am thinking that the main six would take on teachings from the first Elements of Harmony for certain things like making AppleJack stronger or Rainbow Dash more faster or something. Who knows!

Fave Crowd Cosplay: My Link from Legend of Zelda but as Pokémon Ranger Link! Final category in Bests is my Crowd Fave Cosplay and that goes to my Link cosplay! This costume was two years in the making because I did start getting some of the things and needed to wait due to funds not being that high. I did finally finish getting the parts last year and getting the costume together in time for Omni Expo this year and man it was awesome especially with the Ageslash prop Gondras made! People were surprised by how well it looked in the Master Sword Coors and Zelda elements especially with my patches which shown the Tri-Force and the goggles too. Plus, I even worn elf ears for my first time since I never had and hadn’t used spirit gum in the longest time. Still, everyone who this cosplay loved it a lot!

Worsts:

Meh Movie: Power Rangers Re-boot! I know it is weird to see me mentioning this one but looking back at it but Power Rangers was an okay re-boot. Yes, they did have different people for Zordon and Alpha but I feel like I was missing the original Mighty Morphen even though it was cheesy 90’s t. v. but we grew up on that. Another thing is that Gondras pointed out is that the pink ranger’s costume had too much pink to it that it almost looked magenta and not pink. I guess they wanted to match the dark elements? Still, it was a meh movie.

Convention Press Experience: MegaCon Orlando 2017! I have to be honest that doing press for MegaCon was not as great as I thought. Yes, they had so many panels to cover but I am still wishing to do interviews with some of the actors. I am kicking myself for not saying that I was blind when we could only interview attendees, cosplayers, and comic book artists but it is due to being kicked out after the work of getting the passes in the first place and I felt that they didn’t also want to listen to it either nor give valid reasons even though the reason I got from Tampa’s Press Head was they only give interviews they felt deserved it. Okay, seriously? We have done this work for many years and interviewing someone as big as Stan Lee is someone’s dream, heck I wouldn’t mind to interview Danielle Panebaker when she was added after seeing her on Sky High and some other stuff on Disney. I know with cosplay, we did interview Riddle but.reason being is that I have to know their work in order to interview them and that is why it was easy for me to interview Riddle and if you want it to count, R. J. Heady since I did love the show Face Off. Also, with the huge crowd…it would be hard for me to ask attendees because there are times when people do get uncomfortable being asked things or give an answer that is not as great or just run off. And comic book guests…you know my situation! Sorry MegaCon, we won’t be coming back due to this experience and I feel like with all the work we have done, it feels like we can take our work to other places and new heights. I mean Omni and Holiday Matsuri still have us do work at their conventions.

Makeup Product: Anastasia Beverly Hills Sub Culture Pallet! I had to add this one on here because so many people were in an uproar with this one and that is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sub Culture pallet! I have seen so many bad reviews on this pallet because of how much shadow it poops when you dip your brush in. Yeah, it not only becomes dusty with product but it poops it. I am glad I didn’t get on the Anastasia shadow or highlight kick because the…in my honesty…brand doesn’t interest me. I can get really good brow products from the drugstore, shadow pallets I love from other brands in drugstore and high end, especially Urban Decay and Makeup Revolution, and of course better highlight pallets like the Strobe of Genius pallet from NYX but Anastasia doesn’t strike up any interest in me getting anything. Maybe the Moon Child pallet but I found similar shades in Wet N Wild’s and Nyx’s highlight pallets already. So when I saw all the reviews on their Sub Culture pallet, I was surprised! Yeah, people say you can work with it but it is way too pigmented and with shadows like that it is hard to work with, I don’t see that much fall out like this one with my L’Oréal Infolluble Shadows. Not only that, the owners were telling people you aren’t using it right until they found out the reason why it was the way it was is due to how the machine pressed each shadow. Sorry to say but need to improve on that. I did hear the Prism pallet was better.

Okay, looks like that is it for this year’s list! 2018 is going to be big and hoping so because Omni Expo announced Josh Seth to be a guest this year and I am still waiting on the press application for it and hoping next year to have a new panel for it too. New posts to add to the Word Press side on top of that, especially the technology side! New costume to be designed, and hoping! Hoping! I finally get something started my access tech career goal because 2017 was a sit and waiting game for me and 2018 is where I need to spark something!

So, with that, have a safe and Happy New Year everyone and see you in 2018!

Favorites: November & December 2017!

Hello SHiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! It’s that time again and that is the Faves and this time it’s November and December! Where has the year gone by? Well, new faves and let’s hop to it!

Convention Faves:

Fave Purchase: The Cat Ears and Tail in Latte! First is a fave purchase at Holiday Matsuri and that is the cat ears and tail that I got from the maker I always go to known as Micki LA Course. I started buying my cat ears from her in 2013 when I found her stand at Florida Anime Experience when it was in Orlando, apparently it will be in Vero Beach now, and I went for a day to get a signature from Mahle Flannigan since no one else wanted to help out with that. At least I went for a day and went around in the dealer room which was kind of small and found her stand on the outer perimeter of the room and the first ears were in vanilla fudge calico pattern and still have to this day! I forgot to get the tail from her for the longest time even when I found her again at Holiday Matsuri! She had a new fur and it is the color of lattes when they have their cream and you know me and coffee and couldn’t resist and got the tail too! I highly recommend her ears and now tails because they are very fluffy, they clip on, and you don’t always have to use for just cats, a girl came to her stand to ask for wolf ears for her wolf fondness cosplay for a RWBY thing that evening and she handed her the ears. I remembered that you could use her red ears for Flareon too. If you see her stand I recommend her ears s and she does have other things too.

Fave Panel: The J. Michael Tatum 18+ Panel! Do I need to say more? That’s it! Highly recommend if you are at a con with him as a guest and if you are 18 and over. I also did love his panel with Brandon McInnis which is also the “It Gets Better” panel which we will get the videos up soon of that and know how he feels because I was picked on too as a younger person and I did have a speech impediment which you do not hear as much today but if you knew me in high school that was back when it was really bad. I know how you feel <r. Tatum, if you are reading this, I had problems sounding my S’s and Sh’s when I was younger.

Fave Cosplay Moment: The InuYasha During the Holiday Cosplay Runway! Even though my Ageslash was complimented on Friday but this moment goes to the InuYasha cosplayer during the Cosplay Runway and hoping they are okay after being told to “Sit!” Which that takes a lot of dedication. I think nowadays if you try to tell any InuYasha cosplayer to “Sit!” They probably won’t do it due to how much it hurts and you have to face plant for it. Hope they are okay!

Fave Food to Eat: The Bourbon Burger at Denny’! After the con, we headed for Denny’s because we needed a meal after eating sandwiches and snacks all weekend! I had the Bourbon Burger and OMG it was delicious! Even the onion rings were delicious! If we have another Denny’s After Con thing I am ordering it again.

Makeup Stuff:

Fave Ulta Set: The Be Gorgeous Set! This year Ulta was killing it with their sets! I remembered having three of them when they started doing their own makeup brand but the only one I really still have is one that is in a Caboodle style train case and I did try de-potting things and didn’t go well. Not a good idea guys! So, this year they released a lot of sets but the ones I got were the Love MakeUp, the Beauty Treasures, and the Be Gorgeous which is my all-time fave out of the three! I do love jewelry boxes but the Be Gorgeous has my heart at the moment because I have been using it like crazy for November and December even if I got it in October. This comes with a 42 eye shadow pallet at very bottom, face items such as concealers, blushes, bronzers, and two powder highlights with one cream one, and you also get the gel liners, brow powders, and glitter top coats. I would say the eye shadow primers in this set weren’t the greatest because it was hard to get out of the little plastic part where they were in and not as creamy, very stiff mind you but everything else was amazing! I did use this set when I did my RWBY main cast looks with Nora, Ruby, and Cinder which they came out really great. I did use this set to re-create Kathleen Lights; teal smoky eye despite the teal being shimmery along with the other shades but I did have fun re-creating it. You can find the pics over on my Instagram at Mari Blue Cat! I am hoping Ulta keeps up with these sets because they are a major step up and it’s been a while since I have gotten anything Ulta brand.

Lip Oil: Ulta Brand Lip Oil! All thanks to the Love MakeUp set I got two lip oils and I like one more than the other. The set came with the Soft Rose and the Coconut one which they are a part of a line that Ulta sells and I never tried any out since Too Faced was the only real brand that did them and they are tinted. These don’t have tint which is great because with lip oils you really don’t need it since you need the extra nourishment after wearing lip colors all day, especially liquid lipsticks which can be very drying. I prefer the rose one over the coconut one because I feel like when putting on the coconut one is too sticky and I feel like not enough product goes on my lips and have to dip in twice. I think this happens due to how tiny of a size they give you in the Love MakeUp set but I do want to try the Black Raspberry one since they do have other flavors in the line. I can’t wait to go to Ulta!

Brow Powders: Ulta Brand! I know it’s weird to mention Ulta again but I have been loving the brow powders in their sets since I decided why not try it out. These powders do have a bit of fall out but they do go on the brows very well and you don’t know you have anything. I did use the taupe ones for Yang and Weiss’ looks to match the white and blonde hair they have, I did mention I did de-pot the powders from their older set I still have but a good portion of the powder came out but the taupe one was handy during my Link cosplay and the dark brown during my Itachi cosplay. I am going to explore more in the brow powder department!

Bronzer: The Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer! I know I said I would probably won’t use bronzer but I started using it now for contouring and started doing it when I tried out the Morphe Vegan Set to see how I feel about it and it is great. The bronzer I do like at the moment is the Butter Bronzer from Physician’s Formula and I can see why so many people love this thing! Even though the smell is the biggest love but this one is not heavy, it is just light and easy to blend and build up too. I had this with me for Holiday Matsuri to contour my cheeks for Link and my chin and under the lip for Itachi and that is really my contouring. I do do the nose time to time but I really stick to the cheeks, the jaw, and the chin and lip areas. I may have to try other bronzers but this one is a fave!

Liquid Lip: NYX’s Lip Lingerie! Next is my fave liquid lipstick and I give it to the Lip Lingerie’s from NYX Cosmetics. Not sure if I mentioned them but they are way better than the Liquid Suede ones in my opinion. I like how the lipstick stays on my lips even on top of the E. L. F. lip primer and they feel light even throughout the day. I took French Maid with me which is a purple color to Holiday Matsuri and it did not vanish at all since it stayed all day even while talking! These are also inexpensive and around holiday time they do have sets which I got two of them when Ulta did a $10 off $25 NYX purchases during the end of November and I think it ended on Christmas Eve. I got the sets with French Maid, Lace Detail, and something else and the other with Teddy, Push Up, which is one I wanted the longest time ever since Jessica Braun, and there was one more but they are worth it for the set but you can get them individually if you don’t want the colors in the set itself. I am thinking of getting Beauty Mark and Baby Doll because the other set came with Embellishment which I already have and they have a great color range to choose from!

Fave Eye/Face Pallet: Ofra Holiday Glow Pallet! Next is the Ofra Holiday Glow Pallet which was an Ulta only thing for the holidays since you can only get on their website for anything Ofra. Ofra is a very good brand and I remembered getting items from them in my Ipsy and Boxy Charm when I used to get them both and still have the pallet I got on the Ipsy Offers page years back but this pallet is a mix of face and eye stuff where you get eight shadows which one of them is an Ulta exclusive shade while the rest are regular Ofra shades, a bronzer, a highlight, and four blushes. Most awesome thing is that you can take the pans out to customize a pallet with them or if you run out of an item you can get the refill except Winter Berry which I think that is a Christmas shade only. These things are very pigmented, especially the bronzer! I would say with the Americano bronzer is to go in light handed since this can go out of hand and should blend it in with a brush afterwards because I had major blending issues once and did give it an air brushed look with a powder brush since I was using my oval contour brush from Ulta and wanted to try it on the hollows of my cheeks and didn’t work out that way. I also like how you can use two of the shadows as liners but I use them as eye shadow shades like the others. The good thing was that this was half off when I got it and hoping you guys got your paws on it like I had.

Fave Eye Base: NYX White Eye Base! I have been testing out the white eye base from NYX for the past couple of months and I would say it is a fave despite how crazily creamy it is! This does make your shadows pop and does give a nice base to it but there are some shadows you need to build up since there are times where people do have trouble with certain shadows, one good example happened to be the Maybelline Rock Nudes pallet which those shadows need to be built up while with other shadows when I clean them off you do see them on the cotton round later. I did admit I had a hard time removing my makeup on Christmas when I did a red, green, and gold eye look where I used Ruby Red from Maybelline, Golden Sage from L’Oréal, and Treasure from Pacifica which was an Ipsy sample before I got the full pallet and then used the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Rust and the Wet N Wild Midnight Mermaid Liner in Sea Symmetry and knew that the Maybelline shadow stuck like glue with this base! I think I like this eye base as much as the MAC Paint Pot in Painterly since it works very well and does go on very smoothly and I do prefer a potted eye base over a tube because I can control the amount I put on and I can be more sanitary with a brush. Plus, it has lasted me this long too when most eye primers last me a month which were the Maybelline one, the E. L. F. one which was less than a month every time, and better than using a B. B. Cream and foundation in my book. Plus, this does work better than using a pencil which I keep hearing the Milk pencil from the Jumbo Pencil line is the best for shadows but this is just as good.

Fave Christmas Special: Doctor Who 2017 Special! This year’s Christmas Special of Doctor Who was pretty good but last year’s was better than this one but with this year’s special it does show what had happened after the Doctor yelling out, “I don’t want to re-generate! I want to stay!” That was when the First Doctor appears and they got someone that is like William Hartnel for this special and did the same when they re-told the re-generation scene for Hartnel into the Second Doctor. This was basically showing the Doctor kind of going through a crisis since in Season 9 it shown that too where he even had his last moments with Clara but this kind of did that better since Season 9 was a bit of a weak season when 10 was the stronger of the three with Capaldi. I am going to miss him but now with the Thirteenth Doctor coming in and this time being a woman, I can’t wait what is in store for her and her adventures in time and space since the new season will be starting in spring which works out well for me! What I did like the best about this special though is where they show the Brigadier’s Father in World War 1 with the Christmas Truce which is an important part of history and it is a good way of doing that and showing this where the guy who headed Unit for the longest time came from and of course led down to his daughter in Season 8. Sorry for spoilers but Phathom Events did do a theater showing of this yesterday if I remembered and if you wanted to see it in the theater it was another good way of seeing it too but it is in select cities. I can’t wait for April when the new season of Doctor Who starts with the new Doctor!

Fave Books: The Cavannah Legends Series! Next is the Cavannah Legends series which I have read leading up to the book Chasing A Legend which was the one book I got on NetGalley to review from and was told I can read as a standalone but I did read the first three to get the idea of what I got into. I did love the books and how Sarah Robinson created the family of brothers who are into Mixed Martial Arts and their dad used to be a Mafioso before they were born and that is how he met their mother and she is so cute because she really wants grand babies! The book I loved the most was Saving a Legend with Kieron meeting Fiona because it shows how much Fiona sacrificed her own adult life to take care of her autistic sister Shea ever since their parents died. I am hoping this series continues since the youngest brother ended up with someone and I want to see how that relationship started since Robinson did spark that relationship in Chasing a Legend.

Songs: Can’t be a faves without my favorite five songs!

1. “Fire” by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown: I know what you’re thinking, “What!?” Okay, I blame this on Todd in the Shadows’ Halloween episode and it was talking about this guy by the name of Arthur Brown who had a music career in the 1960’s and he came out with this song called “Fire” and it was a hit and it was even #2 in 1968 after “Hey Jude” by the Beatles. Yeah, this guy had a very trippy song and it was even trippier with the song. Back then, he couldn’t tour because the costume he had on had a flaming torch on his head and clubs back then had a lot of cloth walls, rugs, and even paint that can catch fire very fast. He has been touring right now from what I have seen on YouTube since venues have changed over time. I did find it interesting that Alice Cooper did perform this song and I think with Arthur Brown once since the title said Arthur Brown and Alice Cooper doing it together. Great, now it’s in my head because the song’s keyboards and beat are catchy, very catchy that is!
2. “Out Loud” by. The Gabby Show: I know it’s not her actual name but she not only does videos on YouTube but she does music as well. I love this song the most because it not only has a great beat but the lyrics even with the chorus deals with saying things you actually mean out loud. I do struggle with this because I tend to bottle things up and it’s not healthy. I also sometimes get this song stuck in my head.
3. “Team Rocket” Metal Cover by. Jonathan Young: Another metal cover by Jonathan Young and apparently he did a metal cover album for the “2Ba Master” Album which I have to take a look at since that has been my fave Pokémon soundtrack. This version of the song “Team Rocket” is way too awesome since they did get someone in to be Jessie but wishing they got someone else do Meowth’s parts and actually sound like Meowth. I can’t wait to see what other metal covers Jonathan did with his crew for this album!
4. “Bang Bang” by. Ariana Grande, Jessie J. and Nicky Minage: I know mentioning Nicki Minage is a first here but I do like this song since it is catchy and of course I do love Ariana and her vocals match up with Jessie J.’s! Nicki does a pretty good rap solo for this one too. I couldn’t help listening to this song after getting Nicki’s MAC lipstick in Pink Print and enjoy the color a lot since it is like Cream Cup after all.
5. “Chandelier” by Sia: Not sure if this was on a list but I kept on hearing this song after finding out that Sia will be the new face in the Viva Glam series at MAC or shall I say “face” since she doesn’t show it in pics and will go the same with the posters and advertisements and the tube for the lipstick she will be releasing next year. I may have to get this one since I do love this song and it is something different to listen to besides all the metal I tend to listen to and I have a softness for any song that has an operatic or symphonic sound and her voice in this song is “Damn!” I can imagine karaoke with this song will be a challenge even though someone did sing it on The Voice.
Well guys, that is it for this bi-monthly favorites! 2017 introduced me to a lot of new music and a lot of new makeup products. I am hoping 2018 will do the same thing because I have new convention experiences, new products I catch on my local shelves at the drugstore or at Ulta, and so much more! Let’s see how it goes!

Next will be the Voice Actor’s Panel from Holiday Matsuri which we have up on YouTube! Stay tuned guys!

Favorites: September and October 2017!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! It is time for favorites for September and October! I will also be including my fave top 5 songs!

Empties Finished: First, let’s start with a Project Pan Update! Urban Decay Naked Basics 2: First, I finally finished my Urban Decay Naked Basics 2! I was giving this one so much love when I first got it even with my neutral looks for anything interview related and Pre-Employment Program stuff and man it took forever. I decided to toss it finally noticing that it is hard to get the eye shadow with my brush and knew that I had to let it go. I do have a back up of this pallet and it is out of its box!

Revlon Primer + Shadow in Bohemian and Metropolitan: Next I finally finished two of my Revlon pallets from that Primer and Shadow line which it was an okay thing and not very pigmented for most people. I only had three of them and finished two of them which happened to be Bohemian and the other Metropolitan. I don’t know what is up with some Revlon items but the nail polishes, the So Lengthy Mascara, and the lip items are the best from them while the eye shadows are meh in my book. I had these for a long time and glad to finish two out of the three, I will get to Advant Gard and I know it.

Burberry Brit: I finished a perfume and that is Burberry Brit from Burberry. I had this bottle for a long time and it was time for me to finish it! It was also a fave scent for anyone who noticed it at the Blind Rehab Center I stayed at in Daytona.

Painterly and Kaaahhhnnn by MAC: Time to start a new with Back to MAC and that is with Painterly from their Paint Pots and Kaaaahhhhnnn! From their Star Trek collection! I loved these two a lot. I am thinking of going for Soft Ocre next time if I am looking for a primer again while Kahhhnnn, it was just limited edition and this was the only other Star Trek themed lip glass I had. The thing is that the lip glasses tend to go thick and you finish them a bit too quickly. Glad to start a new collection to take back.

I think that is it for this Project Pan update!

Faves:

New Collection: Ulta Be Gorgeous Set: First is the newest Ulta gift set and that is the Be Gorgeous set that they released for holiday this year! When the new holiday stuff comes out you know I am getting some of it early to try out! This one especially when the email was in my inbox and it was $19 along with the Be Charming set. Even though these sets are the same price, the Be Gorgeous was way worth more than the other because I feel like I can create more looks with the shadows than the other. I did do two looks with it and managed to do a video of one of them but the other my Android camera kept on going out. I hope to get my next video up. I do admit I only didn’t like one item and that is the eye primer they put in this set. They did it as a cream in the plastic mold but wishing they did it as a tube of it instead because it is hard to put on the eye that way. I had to go into Painterly for my primer but I do love how it did get me into color correcting!

Color Corrector: NYX Concealer in Green: Next is a concealer and you would not expect to see it being a green one from NYX. I had some issues with dry patches and redness on my face and needed some help and when I saw the Be Gorgeous set had concealers, I decided to do some digging. I got the NYX Green Concealer at the NYX store in twon since a website highly recommend it and this concealer is amazing! It does go on thick but it does blend very easily and for $5 it is not that bad for a concealer. I am going to try out the light shade for the under eye because sometimes the Cover Girl one I use runs out a little too easily.

Eyeliner Pencil: Penny by Ulta: Next is an eyeliner fave and it might be cheating since I got it last month during the 21 Days of Beauty but it is the Ulta Gel Liner Pencil in Penny. These pencils are AMAZING! Yes, I know you have to sharpen them but I prefer to sharpen over automatic because they don’t break as easily. These go on smooth and they do pack on a lot of color. Plus, they do stay put in the water and lower lash lines! Where was this pencil when I first did Link but I would just get the black one for the wing. Still, it is a good pencil!

Lip Product: E. L. F. Lip Primer and Plumper: I mentioned this in my “Best Liquid Lipsticks for Conventions” because it does help and that is the E. L. F. Primer and Plumper! I heard about this all thanks to Andrea Matalano because she was have the same problems like I had with the Color Pop Matte Liquid Lipsticks where they ran all over the place! I looked like what if Harley Quin kissed the Joker way too much with Ribbon from the Hello Kitty collection. I was so happy to find out that I was not the only one and when she mentioned this product I knew I had to find it and Ulta had it on their website and it was amazing! Yes the plumper does sting a little but that goes for all lip plumping products but it doesn’t swell like crazy when I used a NYX plumping gloss a long time ago. You essentially put the primer down first and then put the plumper on top or put the plumper on top of the liquid lipstick after putting that down. This makes any liquid lipstick stay in place. I used it on my Kat Von D’s, my Ofra ones, even my Rimmel Apocalips or Show Off Lip Laquers and they stay put! Where were these? I did get two more by the way!

T. V. Show: Stranger Things: It took me a year but glad I did see it in time for Season 2 to come out and that is Stranger Things! This show was interesting and yet weird but I loved it! It tells about a boy gone missing in a small town around the 1980s, is it around that time? Anyways, He goes missing after a night of Dungeons & Dragons with his friends and then the next day a mysterious girl shows up and more people do go missing as the story goes and the girl, 11 or El for short is linked to the strange happenings that lead to a world that is different from ours. This show was great and I loved it! Yes, the first season was slightly short but it is NetFlix after all. I can’t wait what comes next since Nerdy Shirts and his brother were the ones who got me more curious about the first season after watching their reaction video to the second season trailer, I had to see it for myself. If you are into strange worlds beyond and having nerds be the hero, this show is for you!

Cartoon: Voltron The Legendary Defender: I had to mention this since it is a part of my Rookie Days of Anime and that is Voltron Legendary Defender! I haven’t mentioned it on a faves because I didn’t see season 1 and it got spoiled for me while I was in Daytona but I did catch up very well with Season 2 and now that Seasons 3 & 4, or shall I say Season 3.1 and 3.2 came out this year, I loved it! All I have to say is that the characters they did for this series is better than the classic, sorry that’s my opinion, because you have Elura be more useful and not always in distress, Lance as more like Saka from Avatar and a lady’s man, Pidge with HER character seems more like the one in the original but looking for her brother and dad who got taken, Hunk being more handy in the kitchen and science, and Keith being emo, and Shiro being the leader! Lotor, which I did like more, had a better character build up especially towards the end of 3.2 which I won’t give which you must see yourself. All I have to say is that this was a really good come back for the series and told a better story, even it gave an origin story for Voltron and filled in the blanks. I can’t wait what the next season will bring because it did end on an amazing note.

Book: Shattered Heir by N. M. Howell: I know I gave this book a bit of a detailed review but this was a great book and I want to apologize to Ms. Howell because I feel like I won’t get any newsletters from her again but I was pretty honest. There are times when you can’t always please everyone and someone at a job search seminar I went to recently said know your target audience and you will retain more as much as you repel. I didn’t think the story need any changes because the story was well-written and enjoyed it very much. I hope I get to read the sequel because I want to know what happens next to Reina and her guardians and how she will get her kingdom back in order.

Songs: Now onto my top 5 fave songs because it is hard to pick ten and these songs have been stuck in my head for the longest time!

1. “Victorious” by Panic! At the Disco: This one is a very catchy song with a very catchy beat!
2. “Uma Thurman” by Fall Out Boy: This always pops up on any radio I tend to listen to on I Heart Radio! I really want to try out CK Eternity since Calvin Klein is a fave clothing brand of mine and perfume brand too!
3. “Bulls&*^!” by Rise Against: Next is Rise Against with a song that does tell all! It does get into my head time to time and don’t always sing along.
4. “A Favor House Atlantic” by Coheed & Cambria: I started listening to these guys again and I still remember an old classmate loving them. I also have an easier time singing along with this song too!
5. “Strike Back” English Cover by Jonathan Young: I found this cover on YouTube by this guy since I love the song by Back On and did finally get my paws on Part 18 of Fairy Tail. The lyrics do fit me the most since I did get put down recently for my career goal by someone but not letting it be put down anymore. Heck, I would get the chorus tattooed with my Fairy TailxKingdom Hearts tattoo design. Plus, the song was well translated too!
Well, that is my faves of September and October! Let’s see what November and December brings when of course we have Thanksgiving and Christmas and Holiday Matsuri rolled into one!

Faves: July and August 2017!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! It is that time again and that is for my July and August favorites! I tend to do my top ten songs but it is getting hard for me to know what to put into my list so I am doing every three months rather than every month because it gives me time to listen to a lot more music! It doesn’t mean I can’t still mention fave music at the moment so let’s see what I have this month!

Not So Faves:

Essence Brow Gel: So, lately I have been experiementing with a newer brow product and see about a cheaper alternative if I can’t get my NYX Control Freak brow gel. I am trying out the Essence Brow and Lash Gel and well…it is not that bad but I feel like it is not there. Whenever I wear my lash and brow gel from E. L. F. I know it’s there on my brows when I use the brow side but this one I don’t feel it on my brows at the end of the day. I don’t get why it disappears after application. I do have it to use up and if it improves by the end of it then I will go back to the NYX one.

Slim Fast Meal Replacement Shake Powder: I bet you are wondering, “Mari, did you start a new diet?this?” No, I was sampling it because of Pinch Me. Pinch Me is a free sample service where you sign up, take a survey, you don’t pay anything and you get free samples depending on what they have. This box that came recently…well…it had something I hadn’t had in years and that is from Slim Fast. I know everyone is thinking you aren’t fat and I agree I am curvy but I won’t be left alone without trying it. I did and it was gross! It did not dissolve, I think I wasn’t supposed to put in the entire packet but it made the milk taste worse. I think I would rather drink almond milk over this stuff which I do prefer my almond milk thank you very much. I hope I never get a Slim Fast product again because I used to drink it as a teen to get skinnier but never worked and I tasted can! No offense anyone on this diet but I didn’t like it from my first try and never going back again!

Faves:

Ice Cream: Truffle Kerfuffle from Ben & Jerry’s: Starting with a food item and that is an ice cream by Ben & Jerry’s and it is a flavor known as Truffle Kerfuffle! I know it is a tongue twister and I admit I can’t say it either! This ice cream is basically vanilla with pieces of salted truffles and pecans! I tend to have pecans with sweets and this added a great balance of salt to the truffles and I already love sea salt chocolate truffles since I tried the Godiva ones and I am glad they made this one!

New Chocolate: Hershey’s Cookie Minis in Vanilla Cookie: I know, “Say what now!?” Well, for a while Hershey’s has been making these special cookie versions where they put cookie pieces in the bar and they make them look like the nuggets but as segments of three! They have them in caramel, mint, and the ones I have tried recently and loving are the vanilla ones! These are so creamy and you hardly notice the vanilla because it blends so perfectly into the chocolate. So, basically you have a twisted ice cream cone but in chocolate form with cookies. I have to keep my paws off because you know me, I do love my chocolate. What sucks htough, they only come with nine per bag and wishing they added more due to how much space is there in the bag for more. I know Ghiradelli has a ton of room for ten or slightly more squares. Still like them though!

Hair Product: Marc Anthony Hair Growth Leave In Spray! I think I haven’t mentioned this product but it is the Marc Anhthony Caffeine and Ginseng Leave In Spray which is what it does it helps hair grow. Well, helps it to be stronger so it would grow. GOndras wanted me to grow my hair out and I am doing my best and I had so much damage and split ends as time went on. Yes, I do have the R&B tbut it does so much to keep my hair from frizzing up but this spray helps tame those split ends and damage since there are some areas where there is some damage that exists. I am not sure if it is from straightening my hair even though I don’t do it as much or from when I had highlights but this is helping out a lot! I rarely don’t feel so much damage on the right side of my head which was the most of it was going on ever since I have been using this product. I did have to order another and lord and behold Ulta sends me another 20% off coupon and I used that to get another bottle along with the Oil of Morocco spray I love a lot from them along with two other items. Thank you Ulta for that and just in time for getting a new bottle and I did get double points due to still being August!

Best Store Birthday Gift: NYX Birthday Pallet! I know that with everyone’s birthdays we do get gifts and this year was a full pallet from NYX and that is called the Birthday pallet! I thought at first it was going to be from Lancome since they were doing that, I am thinking it was only Platinum members got Lancome and regular people got the NYX pallet which to tell you the truth I am not a big Lancome fan. The face makeup made my skin itch which is kind of sad. So, the NYX pallet is a ten shadow pallet of neutrals and they are pretty pigmented and easy to apply! I hope they keep on having birthday pallets like this, even with other brands, because I think this is better than the sample size gift from Sephora, which I went with the Tarte blush and lquid lipstick which I do like the lipstick by the way and the blush. Even though I do like Tarte blushes already. So yes, hoping another brand does this next year.

Collection Complete: Too Faced Chocolate Bar Pallets! I know! I know! “What!? You never got the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar?” Well, the truth was back during last Christmas, I was choosing between the Semi-Sweet and BonBons and I liked BonBons more which I do still like that pallet out of the three. I am glad I finally finished it to get Semi-Sweet and I saw why some people did start liking it a little more than the original since it did have more unizue colors besides the same old pinks we are seeing from Too Faced pallets. I do like the idea of pink shades but not everywhere! This one did have a good balance and same with BonBons and I did do a small series where I did looks that involved one from each pallet and then shades from all three and liked how it came out! I think my fave shade would be Puddin’ which is a taupe grey shade and it reminds me of my fave character Harley Quin when she says it. And yes, in case people are wondering, I am excited about the new Batman and Harley film! So, since I got this completed, that would mean no more Too Faced unless if I need to get another Chocolate Bar if I hit pan.

Fave Shadow Primer: MAC Paint Pot in Painterly! I know…I know it took me a while to finally try it out and that is the Mac Paint Pots! I heard so many good things about these and how well they keep eye shadow on and I was able to sample it first with Painterly and Soft Ocre to tell between the two and they do keep my shadows on like crazy! I got Painterly first since I do like the idea of a white base to my shadows but will get Soft Ocre after I am done to give a bit of variety to the use of these and it is so satisfying to see my shadow on my cotton pad because I know it works!

New Mascara: Lash Paradise by L’Oreal! Next is a new mascara I got into and that is Lash Paradise. I wanted to try this ever since I saw people try it out on YouTube and they were right that it is a dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex and even better than than that one actually because…Too Faced flakes on me like no other mascara! It makes my lashes too normal and it doesn’t work like for most people and when I heard about Lash Paradise I knew I had to get it. I got it on my birthday at Ulta and the girl who was checking me out said, “You will love this mascara!” She was right! I do! Yes I did experience a tiny clot in my lashes but they made my lashes curl like crazy! I felt like I had the good spider lashes rather than the bad. If you hadn’t tried this one, I suggest to do so because it is affordable and it doesn’t flake like crazy like Better Than Sex did and L’Oreal knows how to make mascara work. I mean, look what the Miss Manga does to my lashes everytime I cosplay for example!

New Eyeliner Toool: Wing Stencils! So, I decided to mention a tool since I rarely do it and the tool is a set of ten eyeliner stencils for wings. When I first did my Link cosplay, I tried doing winged liner freehanded and I had a hard time doing it and decided to go hunting on the interwebs for the stencils and I found a set from EBay that was $1 and got them in the mail by July and these aren’t ones to stick, you just put them against your eyes and do the wings like normal. These are so handy and easy to use and I can use them with gel liner which I got a pot of the Essence one and that glided pretty well, pencil which is easy to do, I haven’t tried liquid yet but I will someday but these will be handy when I do Link again which I am planning for Holiday Matsuri if we do press again.

New Lipstick: The Midnight Mermaid Mettalic Cat Suits from Wet ‘N Wild! I know this a bit of a cheat but…I had to mention these! They are the new Metallic Liquid Cat Suits that Wet ‘N Wild released for fall for the Midnight Mermaid Collection! I have been wearing Harbor a Crush and man they do stay put like their original counterparts! All I have to say is WNW is beating it out of the water since they have improved greatly as a brand over the years and happy that these liquid lipsticks are here to add to the collection but for the limited time! I would say hurry and get these as they last especially in store, knowing people would run for these like on Ulta’s website and WNw’s site.

Fave Accesory: Sailor Moon Luna and Artemis Wallet! So, on my birthday Gondras and I went into Hot Topic and I was hoping to get new t-shirts since I was getting bored with what I have been wearing especially in the music department but they didn’t have that many at the location we went to. I do go online and had to go to the Florida Mall location for the second shirt but the item that I did love that I picked up was a wallet of the cats from Sailor Moon. Ever since meeting Linda Ballumtyne and Katie Griffin, hi ladies, I think I went a little crazy for Sailor Moon and when Gondras shown me the wallet…I got it! You know me and cats and these two are no exception! Heck, I am waiting on an Artemis makeup bag to come in the mail!

Fave Album: Wolves from Rise Against! Oh yes, had to mention this and that is the new Rise Against album, Wolves. This album has been out since June and I did get it with some of my birthday money and happy I did! I had to listen to it and now I can see where the notes were talking about because this album was written after the last election. Even though the song, “The Violence,” is something that describes what we face day to day. It does have a good message to it like a lot of their music and I do like “The VIolence,” of course, also the songs “B. S.,” “House on Fire,” and the title track, “Wolves.” I even have the album t-shirt since I couldn’t get the “Time + Tragedy” shirt which made me mad. Anyways, I think this album was shorter than the last even though some of their albums have up to ten songs while others do have thirteen or fourteen unless you get the special edition which there wasn’t any. I would say well cone to Rise Against and hoping to hear more albums in the future since they are known for songs with a message.

Fave Book Series: Accidentally [Yours] by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff! So, covered food, makeup, music, and now onto books! This time it is a series from Mimi Jean Pamfiloff and that is her Accidentally [Yours] series which is one of her more early books which is a paranormal book series hat has gods, vampires, and an incubus…oh my? We first meet Emma who has been hearing a voice in her head and that voice belongs to the god of War and Death, Guy who has been trapped in a zenote for many years. She goes on an adventure to find him and once he is freed her life changes and so many others such as Helena who meets her vampire lover, Niccolo, and many other women who fall for either a vampire or a god according to the fate of Samille, which she has a secret to why all this is taking place. This series was cute and funny despite all the hapenings. Yes, I went into it blindly, tee hee, but it was something new and interesting. I do like the characters and how they got together and the book that I really liked was Vampires Need Not [Apply] which deals with the goddess of suicide, Exstab. I think I was laughing the most because her character was quirky for someone who wanted to hide herself behind a veil and I liked how she shown up at self-help groups to find her true nature and to make her feel better about her talent. It was even funnier when the guy that she fell for…forgot his name…met her at the zenote and had to beg for her forgiveness, it was under the style of Samille’s list of getting it, which I forget to mention, Samille was the best part of everything because she was so ilarious! Yeah…she ight have caused things…but her character was the best and it made it even more entertaining. I do have the first book of the Immortal Matchmakers series which is the sequel on my phone but this is a good start and if you are around my age and into paranormal romantic comedies with some action, this is one series you want to look at!
