Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm July 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with a new post!

BoxyCharm July 2020!

My BoxyCharm arrived and it arrived earlier like my Glam Bag Plus! I was surprised it also arrived on a Sunday again since FedEx delivered this while I was having brunch. I am not complaining since I’m happy to get this earlier even before my Choice Day on Tuesday. This box is $25 a month and you get five full size items from prestige and luxury brands. Let’s see what they sent me this month.
Skin Club Vitamin C Booster: First is my choice item for this month and it’s from Skin Club. It was a hard choice this month because there were two other serums, one was for lashes and the other was from Skin 111 but it was pollution protection so I decided on this one. This is the Vitamin C Booster Serum and it is supposed to help brighten the skin and fight against aging and also help protect against UV Rays. This is so important especially with how hot it gets here and everyone is social distancing at the beach now that getting that UV force on your skin can be harsh. I’m glad to get this and try this out. This retails for $49.95!
Hourglass Arch Brow Micro Sculpting Pencil: Next is something from Hourglass and it’s my first time trying them. I remembered one of their highlighters was on choice but didn’t choose them since my curiosity was not peaked into trying their formula out. I guess I don’t get too interested in luxury brands like most people but let’s see what this pencil is all about. This claims to create super defined brows with the super fine tip to make it look like you got micro bladed without the blade. I have to see how this goes since I do use brow products to keep my brows in place, especially towards the front where it can be bushy even when I maintain them but it’s good to get a brow pencil time to time. I thought it was an eyeliner but glad to get this instead. This retails for $28.
Pur Cosmetics Festival 2.0 Eye Pallet: I remembered getting the first one and glad to get the sequel! Like the last one, except that one had more mattes, this one has shimmer but more shimmer. This pallet has twelve shades like the last one from what I remembered and glad to get this one since I didn’t get a pallet last month. This retails for $36.
Hank & Henry Lip Love Lux Lipstick: Another item from Hank & Henry and this time it’s a lipstick. This lipstick is coated in a shimmery coating and it dissolves as you apply it. It is also stored in a ruby red container and it leaves a satin look or a moisturized sheen on your lips. This retails for $17.
Lavish Quick Dry Color Switch Cleaner: Final item is from Lavish and it’s their ever-so-famous Color Switch. When I saw this in my box I thought BoxyCharm Played a joke and sent me an empty tin but opened it and saw this and scanned the card to find out what it is. This is supposed to help you clean powder shadows off your brushes and it retails for $20.

That is it for this box! I’m actually happy about this one. I feel that they did this one better than the last since I mentioned how I felt that they threw my box together and sent it to me. I did tell them about how the Purlisse CC Cream was in my wrong shade and they apologized and gave me charms for it. They also explained that the shade chooser based on profile is still new to them with complexion products and to me that they should have gotten it down since they sent the foundation and concealer cards months ago. Glad that was resolved. Anyways, I will have to see how the pallet fairs since I did like the last one from last year and this one is the new one that they made. I have to see if they have a shade description for all the shades in this one and see how different it is. I am glad to get a new brow pencil to try out since I am using my Billion Dollar Brows Kit still and of course glad to try a new item from Hank & Henry and they have not gotten back to me about the Living Color pallet. I may have to find out some other way. And of course glad to try the color Switch since I do use a lot of powder shadows and will see how well it cleans off my brushes as I use them. I can’t wait to see what is up for choice this Tuesday and hoping its better because I felt with choice this time for July it was meh! I love skin care but I remembered there was more variety to choose from and I understand that they didn’t have much due to the pandemic but hoping its better this time. Also, I can’t wait to see what I get in my box in August!

That is it for this post! Glad that my box was better this month since the items were ones that I would use. Let’s see what August brings since it is my birthday month again. I am waiting for my Ipsy to arrive so it should be here this week. Until next time!

Subscription Satelite Round Up: May & June 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe! I am back with another post!

Subscription Round Up: May & June 2020

Another two months passed for subscriptions and things have gotten more interesting for them! Let’s see what I thought of each one for each month!

BoxyCharm: May’s box saw items I would be using as backups except I only used the Appeal lipstick and the Studio Makeup pallet. The Appeal lipstick was really nice. It was not too drying since most lipsticks in liquid form are drying and too uncomfortable but this felt good on my lips. The eye shadow pallet I packed it on pretty well because I saw Jen Luv’s Reviews get this in her box and she had a hard time to get this pallet to show up since it had more subtle ways when it comes to the shadows. I did pack on hard since this did feel soft and did have it show up on my lids. It did have the smell of the Tarte pallets I’ve bought in the past since it had a vanilla smell. It’s not too bad but wished I got a different pallet. While the other items are back up items when I’m done with my First Aid Facial Radiance Pads, the Micellar Water I’ve been using, and any of the shadow bases I have backups of.
June’s box was an okay box because I felt they threw stuff together and sent it off. I did choose the Lily Lashes mascara and that was really good for what I have chosen and can see why their lash products are really good. The Purlisse CC Cream is too dark for me because I saw that they do have a Light Medium and wishing that they matched me with my actual shade not one that I would self-tan to. I haven’t used the CAB lip duo as of yet since I do have my Ipsy bag filled to the brim with lip products already but will use it in time. I’m glad for the Smashbox spray since I am doing a video on that brand down the road and that ticked off one items I needed and the Kiley Skin cleanser will be up next after I run out of my current cleanser.

Ipsy: Ipsy has been getting good products for their Glam Bags and it is sometimes hard to choose though. With the May Bag I only used four out of the five which happened to be the brush, the Nails Inc. Polish, the Hand of Will lotion, and the Tart Lip Jelly. I had to toss the Way of Will lotion because it was so hard to squeeze out of the bottle they sent me. I don’t know why they didn’t send me the tube rather than bottle or made an easier to squeeze bottle. The brush from SL Miss Glam is amazing as always and good for blending the lid shades on or after you put on shadows and blend them together. The nail polish stayed on very well. I thought my index finger on my right hand was going to chip first like always but all thanks to smoothing my nails out before I do anything it kept my polish on even while being in the hospital when they put on the vital clip on my finger. The Tarte Lip Jelly did go first due to how tiny the tube was. I wished Tarte put it in a pot so it would last a month and give us more to review about but it did feel good my lips and kept them moist.
The June Bag did have a good balance with my GB Plus because it did have more skin care while the GB Plus had more makeup to it. I was able to use the Dewy Tree cleanser and the Sur.Medic Soothing Cream up and pretty fast too since they were pretty small since they are samples. The Dewy Tree Cleanser I had to use it in the shower rather than the sink because my sink somehow doesn’t produce hot water like it used to but my shower does and it did a slight foaming effect but I prefer the action with my Tony Moley Cleanser. The Soothing Cream was used before my serum each night and it felt pretty well as in it did cool my skin before I put my serum on. Not sure if I will buy the full size I will see about that. I did use the First Aid Beauty primer sample which did keep my makeup on during the day. It tingled on my skin slightly but didn’t cause any adverse effects as I wore it which is a good thing. I have been enjoying the lip crayon from Sugar Cosmetics though! I haven’t really used the brush since I have so many of them in my brush pouch on my vanity. I will use it at some point! Good bags the past two months!

Glam Bag Plus: Finally is the Glam Bag Plus! These two months were also really good because May was all about makeup while June had some skin care items with some makeup mixed in. May had hard choices with the items on Choice Day but landed on the Nomad Cosmetics Sydney Bathers Pallet that features two bronzers and two highlighters and man this was really good! I did make a video but hoping it will be up soon since it needs to be edited. I almost chose the Colored Rain Vineyard Soiree pallet and the M. O. T. D. Brush Set which I still got in my box. I also enjoyed the Sugar Rush liquid lipstick and the Beauty For Real mascara. This was a really good box and the products were selected very well.
Like I mentioned with the original Glam Bag, this did balance with that one since I got another primer but it was from Dr. Brandt and it’s perfect for my dry skin since it deals with being luminous. I also got a blending sponge from Huda Beauty which I have added that to my brush pouch. I also chose the Laura Gela Central Park pallet since it sounded like I would go for and will use soon. I finally was happy to get an eyeliner that was a different shade since I remembered how Ipsy used to get liners in different colors and they should continue with that. And of course, I did get another Purlisse product which is their Cleansing Milk which I have to keep on using to see how much it works in removing my makeup.

Victor: Ipsy! Reason being is that they have been getting products that are really good and have been fitting my profile a lot better than BoxyCharm has been doing lately. I know what you’re thinking, “Why are you still subscribed to BoxyCharm?” There are some products I do enjoy and I do get luxury items in it without paying the luxury price and I can try them to see if I can find a dupe for them like how the ELEMIS Facial Pads have been duped for the First Aid Beauty ones so far. When I look at the items I got these past two months from Ipsy and the GB Plus I feel like they have done a good job with my profile and can’t wait to see what July brings. With Boxy, I say step it up with the profile attention because with the Purlisse CC Cream they didn’t match properly.

That is it for this post! I can’t wait to see what July holds for these boxes and hoping that July picks up with BoxyCharm! I will try to get my book review up next!

Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm June 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe! It’s time for my first box subscription of the month!

BoxyCharm June 2020

Disclaimer: This post contains reviews and thoughts on the products of the writer. Please respect her thoughts on each item.

Well guys BoxyCharm arrived this morning. I bet you’re wondering how? Well, yesterday it was supposed to be delivered but around one in the afternoon there was a delivery exception in Sanford and they had to inspect my box at the FedEx facility it was at. Oh yeah, I even felt where it was slashed open by them which is on the right side of the box and saw one of my items opened too! What the heck? I know which one it was too and will get to that in a bit! This box was okay and I thought my card was last month’s card but I accidentally had it in the scanner, I sent Boxy an email before checking and had a major faux pas in my corner, whoops! At least I have the right card with the right items. Let’s see what I got!

Kiley Skin Foaming Face Wash: First up is from Kiley Jenner’s skin care line and it’s her Foaming Face Wash. This product is a luxurious face wash that is gentle for the skin and contains kiwi seed and Vitamin C to help with moisture and helps clean out dirt and makeup. I remembered there was a bit of controversy about this line that she had released where she made advertisements showing her using the items but not really using them. I’m sorry but that’s false advertising and even other brands and their commercial people did the same thing even the kid that played Eleven on Stranger Things apologized for doing the same thing with her products which I was happy she did that. To me as someone who has tried so many products and if I were to advertise for Kiley Skin I would do a video of me using this to clean my makeup at night since that is when I do that even I use these face washes in the shower to keep my face clean to give my skin care time to get in when I finish brushing my teeth. Anyways now to the formulation. I am worried about my sensitive skin reacting because I remembered Shane Dawson and Jeffree Starr did a video trying Kiley Skin products and Shane got reactions from it due to his sensitive skin and I concluded it’s not sensitive skin friendly but if this says it’s gentle then I would give it a chance. I may try this in between my Tony Moley tubes since I did purchase another tube of their Peach Juice Foaming Face Wash and will come back to let you know in a future review since my face washes last me a long time. This item retails for $24.
Purlisse Perfect Glow BB Cream SPF 30: First Purlisse product to get in this box and that is their BB Cream with SPF 30 and I got the shade Medium Tan. I am happy to get this since I am already a fan of Purlisse and that it’s meant for all skin types even my own but the shade is Medium Tan and afraid it’s too dark. Let’s see what the card says about this! This is a multi-tasking product that glides on like a tinted moisturizer and has the same age-defying benefits of sunscreen. I remembered in an interview that Jennifer Yen uses this item due to how she can’t wear foundation since the reason for starting this brand was due to the stage makeup back in the late 90s wrecked her skin and broke her out like crazy. I already put makeup on and not going to see how the shade matches but if BoxyCharm is going to look at profiles and surveys they need to really match people with their shade since they did start putting foundations in their box. I remembered matching with Cashmere from Becca and wondering why not this? I will see if there is a similar shade to mine if I want to purchase this in the future so will see what happens. This item retails for $35.
Lily Lashes Triple X Mascara: Next is my choice item and that’s from Lily Lashes! I heard so many things about this brand for its lashes but you know me I don’t wear lashes! Keep those things away from me! I did see they gave out the mascara and now wearing it. This is a lengthening, voluminizing, and bold mascara that has a tapered dual fiber brush that coats lashes with an ultra black formula. I have been using mascara primers due to how badly mine flaked into my eyes last year even caused me to be allergic to the E. L. F. Lash and Brow Gel Duo I used to love and when I used the lash primer my mascara stays put and even makes my lashes look better. This mascara did curl my lashes very well without a curler and very volumizing. This product retails for $24.
Cab Cosmetics Lip Duo: Next up was something I hoped to get and that is from CAB Cosmetics. I never heard of this brand until this was sneak peeked on YouTube. This is a lip liner and gloss duo that can be either worn alone or together which makes me happy on that part since I do use lip liner more with liquid lipstick to help them stay put more on the lips. This duo retails for $40.
Smashbox Photo Finish Setting Spray: Final item is from Smashbox! I was hoping to get this also because I am collecting items for a video on Smashbox for my Beauty Forgotten series and glad to get this here so I don’t have to purchase it! This helps make makeup stay put for 16 hours and is supposed to a comfortable wear without being sticky and also its high performance with the spray. I will definitely put this to the test when I get to that video and glad that I got this in my box because I don’t have to pay the retail price of $32.

So, this box was okay. I kind of felt like my box was thrown together with random stuff besides my choice as in the ere like, “Let’s throw this in! And this item! And this thing!” I don’t feel that this is a reason to cancel though because there are really good items I do get and glad to try new brands I haven’t gotten to try yet like Hank & Henry, now CAB, and have enjoyed other items from existing brands I have tried that I can’t always splurge on. I have seen people cancelling due to the items they have gotten and not being able to use. I know that feeling since I’ve gotten lashes twice and had to email them about it due to not marking them. Here is the thing, Ipsy, since I am also subscribed to them, always or gets my profile sometimes correct with what I pick and then get the other four items. BoxyCharm, on the other hand, feels like they hardly look at the quiz in the first place like what had happen with the Cover FX pallet a year ago where some people who fit in the certain skin tone categories got the wrong one. I’m hoping that the Medium Tan BB Cream is not too dark, also that the face wash doesn’t break me out. July’s choices were nothing but serums so hoping the next box will be better since we are technically in summer and yes having a nice BB Cream does help but they need to match skin tones right. I am still happy about the other three items though.

I did forget to mention! The item that FedEx inspected was the Smashbox Setting Spray because when I opened my box when I brought it inside I saw the box was open and knowing with sprays they do inspect those and wishing they weren’t jerks about it and open my box like they did. It’s like they think it may cause an issue, I understand that we have to be wary about what’s going around and being sent but seriously not cool!

That is it for this post. I was also supposed to get my Glam Bag but it ran into delays again! Hoping I do get it tomorrow or Tuesday! Until next time!

Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm May 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with this!

BoxyCharm May 2020!

My last box for the month and that is BoxyCharm! Best saved for last and this box is $25 a month and you get five full-size products from prestige to luxury and they range from skin care to makeup to lifestyle. Let’s see what I got this month!

ELEMIS Dynamic Resurfacing Pads: First is my choice item for this month and it’s from ELEMIS! I have been enjoying this brand so far and when I saw these I had to get these to try out. These pads have the tri-enzyme formulation with lactic acids and probiotics to help smooth the skin to reveal a luminous complexion. This sounds like the First Aid Beauty ones and I like those since I got the travel size in this box which I bought and then when 21 Days of Beauty came I bought two of the full-size pack which this is what I got this product in which is around the same size of the First Aid ones. These are pricier than those which the retail price is $59. Okay, this box is paid!
Studio MakeUp Eyes Ease to Wear Pallet: Next is an eye shadow pallet from Studio MakeUp. I remembered when I was not subscribed for two years and this brand was in the box and wanted to try them and finally get to since I got back in last year. This shadow has shades that compliment every skin tone and has a creamy texture to them and gives day to night looks with one swipe and easy blendibility. I will have to see with this pallet since I’ve seen some shadow pallets where I have to dip in more than once so I will see what happens. Plus, this pallet smells really good, it reminds me of the scent of Tarte shadows. This pallet retails for $35.
Pretty Vulgar I Am Caged Shadow Primer: Next is an item from Pretty Vulgar and that is their eye shadow primer. I saw this tube and was wondering what it was and glad that it was this! This is a lightweight and blendable formula that helps smooth lids and make shadows pop. I can’t wait to try this product out because I have been switching out eye shadow primers and glad I get to try this one while I’m doing that. This retails for $22.
Appeal Ultra Crème Liquid Lipstick: Next is a liquid lipstick from Appeal Cosmetics. I thought this was a mascara so I have to fish it out of my giant Caboodle. I do love liquid lipsticks and glad to try this item out from Appeal. This is a luxurious and creamy lipstick with a satin sheen, also only one coat is needed. I will have to see how that goes because the Tarte Sugar Rush lipstick claimed the same thing but did have to dip in another time. I have to see how this works out since there are formulas that can be drying and uncomfortable while other ones are very comfortable, stay tuned for my Round up Review! This retails for $21!
Tarte Magic Micellar MakeUp Remover and Cleanser: Final product is from Tarte Cosmetics and it’s their Magic Micellar MakeUp Remover. I have been getting back into cleansing waters where I use them after using my makeup wipe to make sure everything gets off my face since there are times where I have mascara sticking behind on my lashes and that can be annoying. Let’s see what this says! This item removes the hardest to remove makeup, even waterproof, and excess oils without stripping the skin. Can’t wait to try this out! This retails for $18.

Okay, this month was a really good month for BoxyCharm! I got items I would use and get to try out since I have enjoyed some of these brands already. ELEMIS already had my choice with the facial pads since I wanted to try more items by them but their prices are a bit on the high side so glad to try this when I pay for the box. I have been enjoying the items from Tarte which I’m glad to get a Micellar water to try out and an eye primer from Pretty Vulgar on top of it. I get to try out more Appeal and finally try out Studio MakeUp! All in all a really good month! Can’t wait to see what June brings since there are possible products to come! Can’t wait! I do have a tag post coming up so stay tuned!

Subscription Satelite: March & April 2020 Review Round Up

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with another post!

Subscription Review Round Up: March & April 2020

It is time for my subscription round up for March and April and man I feel like GB Plus has kind of lost its mark these two months which I will get into once I get to it. Let me start with BoxyCharm!

Disclaimer: This Review Round Up is based on thoughts on the items I received in my boxes and how I feel about them. I am very honest with my experiences so please don’t get mad if you enjoyed these products. Thank you!

BoxyCharm: I feel like Boxy has done very well for itself for March and April but I did have one pet peeve item arrive during this month. I did set aside my Murad Ultra Moisture for Eyes which I will not say the entire name, don’t get why skin care brands have extended names for items, since I am still using my E. L. F. one at the moment and have another eye item in rotation once that’s done. I haven’t used my Hank & Henry pallet as of yet, I did contact them for a pallet description and no answer yet which I may have to contact them again. Farmacy is still unopened since I still have a pack of makeup wipes unopened but will get to this when I am done with those. The Vintage by Jessica lip gloss was good but I did not like the brush. It kept on folding in on itself and I had a hard time putting the wand back into its tube. I prefer doe foot applicators over brush ones any day. And finally the Project Beauty Hair Yogurt Mask did feel good on my hair and it did smell very good. I wished there was more product since my hair was growing a bit slightly and of course it was pretty thick and had to put a lot on to use this product. Hey, at least I got to use it!

April was good until one item and that is that they sent me lashes! You know my stance on them and here is the thing with getting these. If BoxyCharm was looking at people’s profiles and what they marked for certain products, for instance when they looked for people’s skin type for the Benefit Porefessional this month, they should have paid attention to what everyone else has marked or not. I did double check my quiz and on the tools question I marked everything EXCEPT lashes. I know everyone will say that they make your look pretty but wearing them over time damages your actual lashes due to pulling them off every night and also I did not know this but they do block out your eye look and if I went through the hassle of trying a new pallet and blended to my heart’s content and put lashes what’s the point? And another thing is that we have mascaras that do the length, do the volume, and some of them even help with lash growth. So that is one step I don’t do. I was happy with the Benefit Porefessional which is the hydrating one which they did pay attention to me marking dry skin which I do have. I am using my newer E. L. F. Putty Face Primer which I do enjoy due to how creamy it is and I will start using the Benefit one when I am done with that one. The brushes I did enjoy which I prefer using these for more of the smaller areas of my eyes rather than going all over. They are nice but they are small in comparison to the brushes I use in my brush pouch. I will still use these though but for mainly a precise crease and my brow bone. I did enjoy the Zoeva pallet I’ve also received and it was perfect for my complexion. So many people over in What’s Up in Make Up loved my looks that I did with it. Also using the Iconic London Illuminator was pretty good since it was really easy to blend after spreading it with my finger. I just dabbed a little bit and used my highlighting brush from Alamar and there I go!

Ipsy: March and April were also really good for Ipsy Glam Bag and March was the hundredth bag celebration and we got six items and went back to five in April!

I did enjoy the Hanalei lip balm in peppermint and all I have to say is that despite the mint in this product it did moisturize my lips! It’s a lot better than the Suzanne Somers lip balm my soon=to=be-mother-in-law gave me which was also mint but the issue I had with that one is that it never went on my lips unlike this one it went very well on my lips since it was in a stick. Its interesting know that mint is not the best ingredient in lip balms but hey at least this was a good one. With the Girlactic liner I just put it with my work makeup and sorry to say I am getting tired of getting black eyeliner in my boxes. I do love a good black liner but I do like to use colorful ones to match my eye looks time to time and wondering what had happened. I mean Boxy got two colorful liners and wishing I got those instead and they were in pink and blue and wondering what is going on Ipsy! I know black is a universal color that can be worn with any look but you need to get back into the variety game since years ago you gave out other colors. I did enjoy the Hey Honey Propalus Moisturizer since I didn’t go to Omni due to what is going on in the world. It felt really cooling on my skin and I did trade my points in for another tube which I will talk about that with GB Plus and wishing it was not so pricey. Hoping it does go on the 21 Days of Beauty in September! I also enjoyed the Complex Culture All Over Eye Brush when packing on shadow all over my lids. It is very soft for a brush and it does help with blending as I go. But I do feel that it is too big for the crease so that is why it’s a lid brush. The Naked Cosmetics Mother Nature Pigment was okay in my book. I think I felt that I had to dip in twice since it did say it’s best to apply with fingers but with our current situation I needed a brush for this thing. I do have some of the loose pigments around in my room so I will be using those! And finally for this bag is the Sugar Cosmetics Uptown Curl mascara and man this knows how to curl my lashes! I do have this with my work mascaras because I do enjoy a nice curl time to time and it does separate my lashes very well. I hope to try more mascaras from Sugar Cosmetics since they are a pretty good brand and have been enjoying what I’ve tried so far by them.

April is back to five items and man I felt that this was a really exciting bag with what I got! First is the Nomad Cosmetics Tuscany Intense Eye Shadow in Aperitivo was something I was excited about since it was my choice item. I have been enjoying this brand and they are the nicest people on the planet! I’ve been talking with one of the founders since I have been tagging them on Instagram with any looks with their items even with the Berlin Underground pallet and they do love to travel and I can see why the brand is known for being named after destinations. This shadow is from their Tuscany Intense nine shadow pallet which I did purchase for a video I want to do spotlighting this brand since my next choice for May in GB Plus is from this brand too. I won’t reveal it until that arrives. I love how this shadow did go on really smoothly and I do love how they use oils in their shadows as well which I think this was made with grape seed oil but it was a smooth shadow. I am glad I did purchase the pallet and I did get two face items since they did release a new New York Collection to donate to charities helping with the world situation right now. They even have done donations towards the Australian Bush Fires this past year in their summer in Australia. Anyways, glad to get this! I got another item from murad which is their Nutrient Charged Water Gel which feels really good on the skin! I use this on my face before makeup so it would soak in while I put on my eye shadow and gives it time to settle in as I go. I hope this will be on the next 21 Days of Beauty because with what I’ve been trying out from Murad I’ve been liking a lot and I find it better to purchase it half-off rather than full price during the sales at Ulta because you feel that you’re getting good skin care even with sensitive skin and you’re not going into the territory of Sunday Riley prices either. Plus this sample is lasting me pretty well because I don’t need too much for an application. I have enjoyed the LoveCraft lipstick in Fausta because it does go on smooth and I feel like it stays put on my lips and it is just so comfortable to wear! I wish most lipsticks were like this one because I feel how drying most of them can be and it feels so uncomfortable after applying some of them. Next is a brush from Ariceli which I feel like it was really scratchy. When I use a blending brush I expect it being soft as I put shadow on my eyes but this one it felt like straw as I put on the Nomad shadow. I think they should improve this brush and hoping if I get more brushes from these guys that they aren’t as scratchy either. And finally I am really happy that I got a bronzer and it’s from Space Case Cosmetics and I loved this bronzer and how well it applies. It almost feels like a Super Shock item from Colour Pop but it is more on the powder side. It is pretty compact in its packaging and glad that I got to get this and hoping I get more bronzers in my Glam Bag because this is the only one I got so far ever since I got back into Ipsy in 2018. So don’t stop sending bronzers! I put “Love It!” For the do you like bronzer’s question.

Glam Bag Plus: March was disappointing and April was a huge road trip for it. March was the same as the Glam Bag where I got six items as well and here was the weird thing about it. Three of the items I got were right and the other three were switched out for some reason for different products and got replacements. The items that were right were the Glam Glow Tropical Cleanser, which I just started using and it smells nice, the Phase Zero Liquid Lipstick which ran out pretty fast, and the Complex Culture Concealer Brush which was a huge triangle shaped brush head that felt like it wouldn’t fit anywhere. I used it for my under eye powder because I felt it was better to do that than just trying to put concealer. Speaking of which, the items that were wrong happened to be the Hey Honey Concealer in Light to Medium which is not so bad, the Balm Girl Powder Blush Pallet which was good even though I chose the eye shadow pallet not this, and the HEMPZ Body Moisturizer in Pineapple which I always notice when it gets to a certain level in the travel size it is hard to squeeze. I did end up getting the items I was supposed to get and the Coffee Scrub which was messy but it was effective in what it did which helped with some of my dry patches. The Pic Perf pallet was really good where the shadows were really pigmented and the primer was better than that crappy E. L. F. Putty Eye Primer and of course god got another eyeliner. I don’t get why they didn’t say, “Wait a minute!” When they were putting together my box. When I sent the email I explained what was missing and even shown screen shots and was asked what I was missing and had to tell them again.

April was a road trip! When it got to Orlando it was close to drop off date and saw that tracking took it to opposite of my part of the state and caused them to send it back to Daytona and then Jacksonville and then to me! I’ve been living at the same address for close to two years and this happens. Apparently was an error on DHL’s half and my post office according to Ipsy. I did get everything right and have been enjoying the items. I used the eyeliner from Tarte and no bleeding! I did enjoy the blush and highlighter pallet which was easy to use where the blushes were on the bottom and the highlighters were on top. The Ciate mascara did feel good but need to have a habit of putting the lash primer, my lashes did look and feel full with it on though! The Crème Rose did feel good on my legs and slightly helping with the dryness even though the scales are kind of there. I do admit when I squeeze I get too much product and wishing it was in a tub rather than a tube because I think I would need more than just a big dollop with how much dryness I am going through to this day. Hoping to get more lotions as time goes on because having lotions time to time in these boxes does help and give an idea of what’s out there. And of course the lipstick! It looks amazing on me from what so many people have said. I did post a picture yesterday of me who did a look with the blush and highlighter pallet, the lipstick, the eyeliner, and the Zephyr pallet from Eleman and everyone liked it and someone said that Brick should be my signature color due to how it looks with my skin tone. When I was job searching and starting to work I did wear a Rimmel lip gloss close to the color of this shade. I will be definitely keep this in my makeup bag and do love the comfort of this lipstick! I did put a sticker to mark this tube to show what which one it is whenever I need to get another one.

That is it for the review on the products. I would have to say that the Glam Bag kind of beat the other two in my opinion. How so? Well, I feel like that the items were catered to my profile very well for both months even with the choices in how they were built around them. Also, I got to try another Murad product and another Hey Honey product on top of it. Also, I feel like they didn’t throw an item I didn’t like like with the lashes in Boxy this month or screw up the items like with my March GB Plus. I know not all brands are perfect but I feel that should have done better. Now hoping next month I won’t get any lashes nor have any of my subscriptions take a road trip across the state before I get it and get squished on top of that. Next post will be a new Accessibility post! Stay tuned!

Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm April 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! Now it’s time for another subscription!

BoxyCharm April 2020

My BoxyCharm arrived the other day and sorry for not posting it right away due to suffering from an ear infection which has been also causing me migraines so I am trying to do the best I can during this time. So, this box is the Base Box which costs $25 and some places have this taxed which here in Florida it’s one of those places and you do get five full-size makeup, skin care, and beauty tools for the price of $175 or more. You get a lot of luxury, prestige, and even independent brands in this one. Let’s see what I got this month!

Benefit Porefessional Hydrating Primer: First up is from Benefit and everyone got this one or the original and that is the Benefit Porefessional Hydrating Primer. I heard so many good things about the original and was glad to find out that these guys are in this month’s box and glad to try this item out even in the formula for my skin. It claims that this primer hydrates and smooths out the face and keeps makeup on. Plus it does have the same oil-free formula as the original. I can’t wait to try this out since I still have another Putty Primer waiting to be opened. This retails for $32!
Zoeva Eye Shadow Pallet in Blank Fusion: Next is a pallet from a brand I’ve been interested in since I heard of them on YouTube and they are Zoeva! I was a curious little kitty when it came to them. When I heard they were going to be in this month’s box I was excited and was happier that they were in Choice! As in you got to choose between this and two Elemis products. I chose this and bought the Elemis Vegetable Hydrating Juice as my add-on. The shadow pallet they sent me was the one in Blank Fusion and it contains ten shades which are highly pigmented and blendable. Plus these are made with Vitamin E. I can’t wait to try this pallet out since this has more of darker browns and some white shades since they are supposed to be smoky colors in this one. I can’t wait to try this. This pallet retails for $28.
Iconic London Illuminator: Next is a product by Iconic London which everyone got and it’s their Illuminator. This is a super concentrated liquid highlighter that can be used in foundation, moisturizer, or primer for a Dewey glow or on its own on the cheeks as a highlighter. With every drop of this it is supposed to glide on smoothly. I have to try this out either on its own or with my primer because it sounds interesting. This thing retails for $41!
Lavish 15 Piece Neon Brush Collection: Next is a small bundle of brushes which this looks like it is a sample of their fifteen brush set? I tried finding it online but no findings except this small five piece set. This set is with the essential brushes for eyes and agree with it. This retails for $29.99.
Baddington Lashes Harlowe 3D Lashes: Finally…a pair of lashes…which I will be giving to Rayne! If you’re new here and don’t know that I’m not a fan of false lashes because over time due to the glue it will damage the follicles on your natural lashes. Jen from Jen Luv’s Reviews had to stop wearing them for a little while because she had to grow them back. Plus, according to Rayne they do hide your eye look! Okay, if I work so hard on doing my eye makeup why do I want to hide it? The last time I got lashes in my box I marked “No.” When I got the question, “Do you like lashes?” And of course on the quiz for my profile I didn’t mark them under Beauty Tools and hoped not to get them. Apparently when I contacted BoxyCharm about this they said they don’t send the same product twice if you didn’t mark it and they gave me extra charms to use in the store but it’s closed and did have to tell them about that. I was hoping they sent me the Dose of Colors Lipstick because I love that brand! Again these are going to someone else who would use these and hoping I never ever ever ever ever get lashes again!

Well that’s it for this box! I will definitely use the other products in this box because I love brushes, I get to try out Zoeva finally, and of course the Iconic London Illuminator which people rave about and finally get to see what the Benefit primer is all about. I am waiting on my GB Plus because it just got shipped today and hoping it gets here before Ipsy’s Choice Day since that will be around the 24th as always. Until next guys! Stay beautiful!

THe Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm March 2020!

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe! I am back with another post!

BoxyCharm March 2020!

Now it’s time for my BoxyCharm for this month! This box is $25 a month and you get from prestige all the way to luxury products ranging from ones you find in the store to independent brands. You also get to choose a product every month for this box! Let’s see what I got this month!

Murad Hydro Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for Eyes: First up is a product from Murad and it’s my choice item! This is the Murad Ultimate Moisture for Eyes which is an eye cream that helps with fine lines and wrinkles and has a blend of hyrolonic acid and algae extracts to moisturize the eye area and great for sensitive skin. When I saw this as a choice item I had to try it since the other item happened to be a curling wand and sorry my hair is already curly so don’t need that. I have had pretty good experiences with Murad since they are well known for being good for sensitive skin and I believe it. I am still using the AHA and BHA scrub in my shower and have used up the Essential C Moisturizer and now get to try this out. This retails for $70!
Hank & Henry Living In Color Pallet: This month there were three shadow pallets and they were the Tarte Tartist ReMix Pallet, the BoxyCharm Hello Charmer Pallet, and this one the Hank & Henry Living In Color Pallet. I’ve heard of this brand and I got the eyeliner in my box a few months back but didn’t like it due to how the chisel tip was not working out for me but glad to get this pallet! This is a nine pan pallet that is inspired by both the 90s and 2000s and it can be worn on their own. I have to see what shades are in this pallet to see if I want to do certain looks with it. This retails for $27.
Pharmacy Very Cherry Cleansing Balm: Next is a product from Pharmacy and it’s their Very Cherry Cleansing Balm. I have used the Green Clean and got that as add-ons with my Ipsy and this time I got this version which is the cherry one in this subscription. Like the Green Clean it takes and melts makeup off leaving skin silky smooth and moisturized. When I tried the Green Clean my second time I noticed how my eyes stung a little bit which I am hoping this doesn’t happen with this one so I have to see how it goes! Glad to get another makeup cleansing item so I won’t have to stock up so soon! This item retails for $34!
Vintage by. Jessica Libersteind in Pink Sequin: Next is a lip gloss from a brand I’ve never heard of and it’s Vintage by Jessica Libersteind and the lip gloss is in Pink Sequin. This gloss is a sheer and glittery formula that you can wear alone or on top of other lip products. I prefer using a sheer lip gloss over other colors to give it a pop since my lips are a bit on the natural side and have to see how well it pairs with lipstick or liquid lipstick. This item retails for $25.
Project Beauty Haircut Almond Honey Intense Hair Yogurt Hair Mask: Final item is a hair mask from Project Beauty! I haven’t gotten a hair mask in so long since I’ve stopped using them especially when at certain times of the year I tend to get dandruff scabs even when the spring starts and have to start using the dandruff shampoo again. Which I have to do that right now and so far it’s doing okay. Anyways, this is another brand I’ve never heard of and this makes is made with yogurt protein, probiotics, kinwa, botanical and shea butters to help repair the hair. I will definitely use this since I do sometimes feel a little bit of dryness and can help strengthen my hair a bit. This retails for $10 which is not too bad!

Well guys that is it for this box! This was a pretty good box and glad I didn’t get anything from KVD Vegan Beauty. I know she is no longer with her brand but it still has her initials and you know my stance towards her lip products which are too drying for my liking. I’m glad to try out a new hair mask, a new lip gloss, the cherry version of Pharmacy’s cleansing balm, and of course something new from Murad which I do have some eye creams I am going through right now. I’m also glad to try another thing from Hank & Henry too since the eyeliner was not my favorite so I will definitely give them a chance with this pallet. I did select my choice for April and can’t wait to see what they give me for that since it’s an eye shadow pallet from Zoava and never tried them before. I hope BoxyCharm also gives me the card next month since I contacted them about that and no answer. I may have to bug them on Instagram or Facebook. Next will be GB Plus which I’m mad about and had to contact Ipsy about it too, just stay tuned guys!

Also, in case anyone has been following Nerdy SHique Transmissions, I haven’t done an episode last week due to what had happened to Omni Fandom Expo so I will be doing another and will give my thoughts on Corona Virus myself since now we are going into lock down too at work. Stay tuned for that episode.

The Subscription Satelite: January & February 2020 Review Round Up!

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe. I’m back with another post!

January & February Subscription Round Up!

I know I was going to do my review on a book but have been running a little behind with posts so bear with me! I decided to do this first since this is the end of the month after all! I did say I was going to start doing this with telling you guys what are my thoughts on each box for every two months!

BoxyCharm: First starting off with BoxyCharm and I have to say that the first month of the year it came off strong with the makeup items. I was able to create a full face with the Ace pallet, the Wonder Beauty Blush and Bronzer Duo, and the Too Faced Highlighter, and the Mana Kadar lip gloss, even though that ran out pretty quickly since it felt like there was not enough product in the tube. I felt it dried a bit too much and that I felt it was not that great and threw it out. The sleeping mask from Advent was okay, I felt like I didn’t get too much moisture and it kind of stung while I put it on. I am not sure if it’s due to the amount of skin care I use or my skin is not ready for a product like it but it did make my skin sting a lot while putting it on every night and was okay for the rest of the night. I think skin care that costs over a hundred dollars is not as cracked up to be when people keep on saying the most money you should be spending is on skin care alone. I’m sorry but I spend drugstore prices and $25 for one moisturizer and I’m good all around! Plus, all the sheet mask packs I get from Ipsy are around $15 so I don’t have to spend so much. I did enjoy the other three items though, people did like the look I create with the Vintage Dawn pallet from Ace since I was doing a pretty neutral look with it alongside the Trip for Two Duo from Wonder and the Too Faced Highlighter. I hope that they keep doing the same idea for more boxes like this because it works!
February, on the other hand, I got more skin care products than makeup which I’m not too mad but the only thing that sucked were the hemp wipes I got in the box. Those did not clean off my makeup like they were supposed to since I notice my mascara, even my Lash Princess Waterproof, stay behind and yes I do go in with the First Aid Beauty Pads but I needed more cleansing when it came to my makeup afterwards. The brand Evio should make these better as in make them moister or make the hemp stronger to make them able to clean off makeup. So, I have used them to wipe my brushes while using them. The First Aid Facial Pads are pretty good in case if you’re wondering. I do use them after cleaning my makeup off and then shower. I may have to start buying these! I did start using the Ciate London powder since I finished up another and man it smells good and it does set the face really well! I feel great after blending my powder and it does stay well all day even after spraying it with the setting spray. I haven’t used the Becca foundation yet but will eventually! I do have to talk about the Alomar brushes because I have found that people on what’s up in Makeup group had issues using these actually. According to some people they aren’t able to blend their makeup very well but I’ve been having really good luck with mine. I’m not sure if it’s due to products other people have been using or it’s what they’re using them for but I had no issue controlling my makeup application. I guess I have to keep on using these!

Next up is Ipsy since it would be easier to talk about the base bag. I didn’t use the nail polish I got in January’s bag yet because I didn’t have any time to do my nails. January and February have been busy months for me so it was hard to find a night to do my nails. I did use the other items though! I used up the Hempz Moisturizer but what I found off about it is that it’s so thick it’s hard to squeeze out even towards the end of the bottle. I have the Sensitive Skin one since Ulta does sell their products and still had the dry patches and wanted to try that formula it was hard to pump out at first since it came with a pump. I don’t think I will re-purchase because they make it so thick that it’s hard to get out of any container they put it in even with a pump so not spending my money again on their stuff even if it’s travel size. I did enjoy the Nomad shadow and the Ofra highlighter and of course I do use the Finding Ferdinand lipstick sample since it’s always in my makeup bag whenever I wear it at work and need to touch up.
February had it strong though with the Colored Rain lipstick! This is a great lipstick and now see why people liked this one because all I have to do is dab it on and go on with my day! I just put a little sometimes and just go with it because it just goes on smoothly. I did find it annoying is that it was seen as a Chinese dupe. If you’re not in the know but recently Not So Evil Stepmother talked about how BoxyCharm had a Chinese dupe of the Fairy Tale Cosmetics pallet in their December box and it had “Made in the PRC” which means the People’s Republic of China. She went on to say that these items were made in BoxyCharm’s labs in China to make the surplus of product they need but wrong! Sometimes a brand has their products made in China to meet demand even if made in the U. S. She mentioned how this lipstick was one of those and she mentioned how these products did not perform as their original counterparts. This product stayed on my lips and did have to apply again after eating something but that’s normal with any lipstick out there. I will buy another tube of this product and see what happens when I do since these aren’t really expensive. I haven’t used the hand cream though since I’ve still have some tubes of it being used, I have used the powder brush though and enjoying it. While the shadow, I felt it was a little dry but it did go on well pretty well since I did use it in my inner corners. While the face primer from IT Cosmetics, it was nice but I feel that it needed to be a bigger product because it was so tiny that I was done in two uses! I had more uses with the Tarte Shape Tape Primer when I had that sample though. I think I gave it a lower score than usual.

Glam Bag Plus: Now finally Glam Bag Plus! January’s bag was really good since I’ve enjoyed using every single product! I was surprised with the sheet masks from Duft & Doft because I thought I got two but they were two packs of three in each so I got six! Man Ipsy you spoiled me with these! I did use two so far and they have been working out with my face and not too harsh of an ingredient mix either. I have also been enjoying the Brow Kit from Billion Dollar Brows and no it’s not as bad as the Brow Bar Pallet I got in my December BoxyCharm. My brows feel like my brows with this one. It’s an easy to use kit and the brush is even really soft once I get the gel in to set everything. I did notice more items to choose from from this in March’s box but I didn’t select the pomades because I want to see if they give me one anyways. Let’s see how that goes. The eyeliner from Sugar was really good as well. I’ve been using it for work and I’ve had an easy time applying the liner when I use it. And the Huda pallet in Ruby is pigmented as the others I’ve used from her shadow pallets. I hope they keep giving these out since they are a great product and it’s a great brand!
Like with January, I did get more sheet masks in my February GB Plus. This time it’s from Avette and I felt like it did sting a little when I wore one of the masks since I got four of them. I notice some of my masks do sting a little because they’re working into my skin as the timer is running but I do leave these on a bit longer than expected since my skin’s so dry and needs that extra hydration. I do use sheet masks twice a week where I do it on Tuesday and at the end of the week to heal my skin after a long work week. I will have to keep using these and hoping to get more masks in this bag or my regular one. I did put the Inkliner from Il Makiage in my rotation to see how well it works on my eyes while I got to use my Sweater Weather pallet yesterday and those were really good shadows. The Laruce brushes have been working out pretty well with what I’ve been using them with. And with the Murad moisturizer I have to say it’s been working out for me very well. How so? Well, after my GB Plus post I decided to try it out without makeup and then with it on top to see how my skin reacts. Without makeup it didn’t get irritated at all which was a good sign. It didn’t get irritated either when I put makeup on and set it with my setting spray and even went outside to get the sun which worked out really well. So far so good my skin is liking this product but the price point is not making me want to buy it but I will try others if they’re meant for my skin type. And oh right, forgot about the Jules Smith lip glosses from January! So far I have finished one and enjoyed it but wishing there was more product in the tube since I’ve been liking it.

Well guys that is my round up on the boxes for January and February! So far so good the first two months for all three have been going great. I feel like with Ipsy in the choices for March though were kind of lacking so had to choose something that I would like. I will see what they picked for the rest of my bag since GB Plus was a quick one for me. I am looking at the BoxyCharm website for now on because since I don’t get the emails but I do watch it like a hawk so I won’t miss choosing something. I did get something since one item was a curling iron but I only go for flat irons since my hair is already curly. If I have to give it to one box for these two months I would say GB Plus because I felt their products were really good with what they’ve given me and I was almost skeptical with the Murad Moisturizer but it did work out in the end. I will have to see what March and April bring for these three! I will have the book review next! Sorry for being behind but things did happen over time. Until next time!

The Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm February 2020!

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with a subscription!

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance PadsCiate London Every Day Vacay Coconut PowderAlomar Cosmetics Complexion Brush TrioBoxyCharm February 2020!

Oh yes it’s that time again and that is my subscriptions! All three came in this week and was surprised that it did. On Tuesday my Glam Bag Plus and BoxyCharm came in first and then yesterday my Ipsy came in. Never saw that happen until this month this year. I’m not complaining! Anyways, this box is $25 a month and you get five full size products from prestige and luxury brands! I didn’t get a card so I have to go off the website from what I got! Thank you Seeing A. I. for letting me know what was in my box!

Becca Cosmetics Ultimate Cover 24 Hour Foundation: First is another item from Becca and this time it’s the foundation that was on a card a few months ago. If you remembered me mentioning that BoxyCharm gave a quiz on complexion products and asked everyone about their foundation and concealer because they were starting to give out these items this year and depending on your box you either got a card with samples of Pretty Vulgar’s concealer or Becca’s foundation and I got Becca’s foundation card and matched myself to Cashmere. This was also what I picked but decided to do the pick since knowing that they may get it wrong but glad I did get to choose this in my Boxy Choice even though it didn’t give me the shadow pallet from Iconic London but I realized I have so many shadow pallets I need one month off at least and they did it last February too with a break from a shadow pallet. Anyways, I did hear this is a dry skin horror but I want to try and see if this is true since I have dryness issues and see how it goes and how the shade looks on me in full. Plus it claims to be breathable so have to see! This foundation retails for $44!
Alomar Complexion Brush Trio: Next is another product from Alomar and this time its brushes and it’s a face brush trio. I’m happy to get these since I do love brushes and can’t go wrong in having good face ones either. These feel really soft and I can’t wait to try these and see how well my makeup blends as well. These retail for $36!
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads: Next is something I haven’t gotten in a subscription in a long time and that is from First Aid Beauty. Remember when I first tried them in Ipsy? Well, I got them here through BoxyCharm and its Facial Radiance Pads. These kind of remind me of my Clearasil pads but these work differently. These pads contain the daily amount of lactic and glycolic acids that help smooth and brighten the skin and also tone it even sensitive skin types like me. So far these have been pretty good because I’ve been using them after cleaning off my makeup to help balance my skin again since I do wear makeup to work every day and having something after cleaning it off makes it feel cleaner. I will have to keep using these. I wonder if Ulta carries these because they retail for $17.
Ciate London Everyday Vacay Coconut Setting Powder: I am so glad I got another powder so I won’t have to run out to buy another! That is one good thing I love about subscriptions I don’t have to worry about re-stocking on products and over stocking on them either so I can just use my backups as time goes on. Anyways, I’m glad that I get to try another item from Ciate London that is face related and this is supposed to smell slightly like coconut and it’s finely milled and doesn’t cause flashback either. I can’t wait to use this since I’m using another powder at the moment. This retails for $22!
Ebio Cleansing Hemp Wipes: Final item is from Evio and they are cleansing wipes. I have to say is these aren’t good for makeup cleaning on the face because they suck! I tried to use these on removing my Lash Princess Waterproof Mascara and had a hard time when they claim to remove any waterproof makeup. I also feel like with the first two wipes they were kind of dry. I am just going to use these to clean my brushes instead of cleaning my makeup off because I think the Pharmacy Green Clean and the Up & Up Wipes just work a lot more than these! $9.50 is their retail price and I would not recommend.

Well guys that is it for this month’s box. I did find it a little meh but I’m actually happy that I get to try an actual foundation as in not a trial size bottle. Also, I get to try a powder from Ciate London which will be great once I get to open it at last. Not only that getting to try brushes from Alomar and another First Aid Beauty item kind of rounded it off. Not too bad of a box and glad to try new things from brands I have tried even in other subscriptions. Can’t wait for March’s box! So guys stay tuned for Glam Bag Plus!

Bests and Worsts of 2015

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Guess what? HAPPY NEW YEAR! Yes, it’s that time again and that is ringing in 2016 once our midnight rools around here in the states! To make tradition even better, it’s time for the Bests and Worsts of 2015 according to us at Nerdy Shique Universe! Let’s start with our Bests!

BESTS!

Best EP: Soul Switch’s Regenerate album! This year was a big year for our friends of Soul Switch! This past April they released their third album, Regenerate, and even had an album release party at the House of Blues. We also got to interview Jimmy Kwong and Matt Larson from the band! I loved this album and sing along when I saw them last, hell I even did the growls and screams the best I could along with “Demons.” Hoping they come out with another video since “Hang On” is a great song and video, I recommend these guys since you might be able to find them on ITunes! I also did recommend them to Rhett Fisher who played the Titanium Ranger on Light Speed Rescue along with our other buddies in Traverser! Speaking of which, we did have David from Traverser appear in that interview but will have a full on interview with them when their next album, Jupiter Doesn’t Care About You, drops next year! Congrats Soul Switch!

Best Come Back for a Local Band: Leaving Haven! Well, the reason why I am mentioning this is that a year or two ago we heard of Leaving Haven and back then we didn’t like their music style nor their performance style either. Once we heard one of their songs on Native Noise all thanks to a friend, we noticed how much they changed and then when we saw them perform on the night of Soul Switch’s album release, they improved tremendously! Their performance style and music have improved and we noticed it that night the most. I have two of their CDs and they are amazing! I would highly recommend this band.
Best Event We Finally Went To: Earth Day Birthday 22! We finally went to it after hearing so many things happening and who was going to be there this year and that is Earth Day Birthday! For many years, Gondras and I always wanted to go to this thing, especially the years Sevendust made their stage appearances many times over and over again, even before we saw them at Carnival of Madness back in 2010! As you know, I have been a fan of Sevendust ever since I heard the song “Denial” back in 2003. This year got us going because our buddies in Soul Switch announced at their album release that they are going to open the show and we got there to see that. It was kind of sad that Florida Anime Experience was that same weekend and they were bringing people from Evangelion and haven’t gotten to meet Tiffany Grant. So, we sent Papa Jeriyah on a special mission to get stuff signed by her, Spike, Brina Palencia since she’s Rei in the new movies, and Trina Nishimura even though we were catching up with her at Omni and getting to interview her. Was it worth it? Yes. I do love anime but music has been a major love and this year’s Earth Day Birthday did have artists Gondras and I do like which included Flyleaf, Trapt, Sevendust of course which was a last minute add on after Bush back outdue to a stalker situation, Buck Cherry, and the main band we really wanted to see the most and that is Rise Against! We seen them once in Orlando at the UCF Arena and got to see them again and perform some of their music from Black Market. What surprised Gondras when they performed “Chamber the Cartridge” from their Sufferer and the Witness album which he didn’t know that was a song they did and now he knows about it. Next year’s line up for this thing…he and I agree this year’s took the cake since next year they are having Hailstorm, Escape the Fate, and 311. Not sure if we will go to another, let’s see how time will tell!

Best Interview at a Con: The Cast from Attack on Titan! It was hard to choose for what was the best interview we have done this year but this has to go to the ones we did with Mike McFarland, who directed, Bryce Papenbrook, Eren Yeger, Josh Grelle, Armen, Trina Nishimura, Mikasa, and Lauren Landa, Annie Lockheart. As you guys know, I already interviewed Matthew Mercer during 2014 and apparently it was one of the most viewed posts here on Word Press which I thank you guys for that! Anyways, we had fun interviewing these guys, especially Lauren which it went into many tangents towards the end, not sure if the video camera caught it but we had fun with her, Bryce, and even Josh as well! I do have one entry for Bryce and that is…

Best Headbreaking Moment: Bryce Papenbrook Revealing His Daddy’s Voice! If you haven’t seen the video, but I asked Bryce how did he get into voice acting and that is through his dad, which by the way was a major surprise! I didn’t reveal it to many people because we wanted to have everyone see the video first and then hear many heads break and now will reveal it. Bryce Papenbrook’s dad was the voice of Rito Revulto on Power Rangers. Our reactions were priceless! I did watch clips after the convention and was surprised even more, he is very talented and see where Bryce got his talent from! You can hear Bryce’s voice as Maliotis in Seven Deadly Sins which you can catch on Net Flix! It is very good series by what we saw and people are starting to cosplay from it, we seen a few and taken pics, which you will see in our Holiday Matsuri gallery coming soon! So, enjoy that series!

Best Correction in an Interview: Josh Grelle Correcting Me With His Last Name! Another unsuspecting moment and that was when I was introducing you guys to Josh Grelle. The thing was I pronounced his last name with the pronunciation all thanks to my screen reader and when you see part one, you hear him correct me. It is actually pronounced “Greely” and so glad he helped out! Now I know how to say it whenever we meet him again since I have Attack On Titan Part 2 all nice and clean and waiting for Sharpie ink to touch! He is the voice of the devil in Devil As a Part Tim,er.

Best Voice Actor for a Convention: Jessica Calvello! Oh man, had to mention this one and it was hard to think who would’ve been the best since conventions do get pretty good guests to appear. This category goes to someone who hasn’t appeared at a Florida con by what I remember and that is Jessica Calvello! Due to how Omni was doing all Attack on Titan for the most part, Jessica was one of the actors who appeared and she does the voice of Honshi the scientist who loves looking at titans! Not only she does the voice but she did appear in cosplay as her character for Omni Expo! As in, jacket, glasses, and everything else and even acted like her throughout the thing, there was a part where her character ran into a door and did that as the 18+ Saturday panel with Matt Mercer, she explained what she was doing and wished I recorded that but it wasn’t allowed. But I can say that she also fangirled over Matt’s voice, who wouldn’t, I have been too and he is Number 1 on my Sexiest Voices in Anime and Gaming! I wonder how she would react to his British accent? Anyways, she was funny and very friendly and also very talented, even as Rip Van Winkle in Hellsing Ultimate Abridged.
Runners Up: Todd Habercorn and Joshua Seth! It was hard choosing runner ups because these two were also great at the same convention and that is Todd Habercorn and Joshua Seth! They are entertaining when it comes to panels, even you will get a lot of laughs from my interview with Mr. Seth as well. Couldn’t help but also finding Todd’s photo and signing war with Jess Harnell even funnier. On top of that, their panel with Sean Schemmel and Grey Deloisle as well.

Best Guessing My Age Moment: Walter Jones and Austin St. John at Ranger Stop! I had to put this on here because everyone knows that I don’t look my age! I turned 30 this past year and when people look at me they have to do a double take! Even when the ID gets taken out, it’s even harder to believe that I was born in 1985. This past year I went to Ranger Stop and told some of the people I was into Power Rangers when it first came to the states back in the early 90’s and was seven around then! When Austin St. John and Walter Jones asked me how old I was, I asked them “How old do you think I am?” They were guessing around the twenties, but Walter had more in the teens and then revealed I was 30! Austin was a bit speechless and then said, “You look good for it!” and Walter was like “Nooooo! Really!?” Hell, should’ve said, Veronica Taylor was speechless when I told her which she was actually speechless at AFO since I just turned it.

Best T-Shirt Props: The Rita Repulsa “Make My Monsters Grow” Shirt from Aardvark Tees! I had to mention this because so many people loved it when I wore it to Ranger Stop and it’s all thanks to Aardvark Tees! I got this shirt during AFO from their stand and it is of Rita Repulsa throwing rare candy to some Pokemon and it says “Make My Monster Grow!” It made sense and great thing about it, while asking my question during Ranger Recap’s Pre-Con panel for the regular pass holders they had the camera on my shirt! Even the Blue Rangers pointed it out during their panel that same night! And Christopher Kaman Lee saw it and asked where I got it from since he recognized it and told him I got it from Aardvark’s stand during AFO. I did get props for my Iron Man hoodie since it did get cool in the evening and morning during the convention!

Funniest Internet Review: Anime Abandoned Review on Jungle De Ikou! Yes, time to point out the best internet stuff for this year! Starting with the Funniest Review and that is by hannel Awesome’s own Bennet the Sage with his show Anime Abandoned! We got to meet him during MythiCon and did go to his 18+ Panel and of course Q&A which you can catch on YouTube, the Q&A one! He does very funny reviews on many anime OVAs and movies and an occasional series review. Some of these include Wicked City, Akira, even the InuYasha Movie which I should’ve included that as the funniest review for last year but forgot about it. This year I give it to his review for a really bad OVA known as Jungle De Ikou! It is a bit on the mature side and it does have jokes that are kind of….make you want be like how Bennet says it in his review, “WHAT!?” Basically the plot deals with a girl gets a magical totem figure from her dad who returns from New Guinea, Africa and gets visited by a spirit in her dreams and gets told if she gets in trouble while meeting the eviler spirit that was locked away to do a special dance. Yeah, the dance is ridiculous, ejven one of the other girls have a Macarena type dance but Bennet does end the review early due to it because…yeah…you have to watch it to see what I mean. What I like about watching Bennet is that he does make good points, even with this review talking about how there are bad movies out there and comedies that exist that are equally bad how this anime goes with the movie known as Movie 43. The jokes are pretty funny and he does quote Mad Max: Fury Road! If you are around my age, give it a watch and prepare to laugh your lungs out, Gondras and I sure did!
Runner Up: Nostalgia Critic Reviewing Fury Road! I know, what!? Well, around the time Fury Road came out Nostalgia Critic reviewed it and man he pulled a lot in making the review as a movie type review with his crew. We haven’t seen Fury Road ourselves but we seen the review and you should see it as well, the jokes a very good and does discuss it pretty well.

Death Battle of the Year: Death Stroke vs. Dead Pool! Most of us who have seen Death Battle on Screw Attack know that they have awesome pairings like Felicia from Darkstalkers vs. Taokaka from Blaze Blue, Iron Man vs. Lex Luther, and the one that really have us laughing and loving is Death Stroke from D. C. Comics vs. Dead Pool from Marvel! With the comparing stats, the episode got Dead Pool’s breaking the fourth wall like always and even hilarious in messing with Wiz and Boomstick. I would say watch Death Battle, even this battle if you’re a fan of Dead Pool or Death Stroke since they are entertaining and very informative! Anyways, don’t want to spoil who wins if anyone hasn’t watched it but the battle was pretty close!
Runner Up: Gaara vs. Toff! Yes, have to mention this one because it was one that Gondras thought I would be disappointed because I love Gaara from Naruto but at the same time Toff is my fave Avatar: The Last Airbender character. Both stats were very good but there is one thing, they pitted a guy against a skilled Earth Bender that can use the sand and the golden sand to her advantage. Yeah, sorry, ust spoiled that Toff won this battle. As always said, never underestimate the power of a blind girl, even when she Earth bends!

Internet Reviewer of the Year: Louis Lovehog aka Linkara! This was a pick from Gondras and I agree so I created this one and that is “Internet Reviewer of the Year” and this year it goes to Linkara from Channel Awesome! Why? Well, he has done awesome reviews when it has comes to comics, even caught up with all the Power Rangers for his History of the Power Rangers since he has done Super Mega Force recently, and has done really good story work with his movie! I haven’t seen the movie yet but heard it’s really good from Gondras but I seen enough of his comic book reviews that he makes really good sci-fi- story segments on his show! This is why he should be a guest at more Florida cons, especially Orlando after MythiCon ending! I did suggest him to AFO due to the Power Rangers stuff since I did watch In Space, Lost Galaxy, soon to watch Light Speed Rescue and Time Force after watching his reviews on those seasons! He even used clips from Attack On Titan Abridged during his Jungle Fury review and that is one other season I may see all thanks to him. Still he is a really good reviewer even when you go to his live panel at cons like we have the past two years. That is why Mr. Linkara, you get Internet Reviewer of the Year here on Nerdy Shique Universe!

Best Movie: Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Yeah, I know it seems abovious but think about it this way, it has been years since we got a new Star Wars movie evne though the prequels weren’t the best. I didn’t even seen the third one out of those because of how Episode 2 felt like I could make a drinking game out of the many “My lords!” and “My ladies!” they say throughout the film! When we heard that the story after The Return of the Jedi will be continuing and JJ Abrams will be directing it, we were worried and a bit skeptical since the new Star Trek films were not that great. We saw this on Christmas and man we enjoyed it! Hell, we even applauded when we saw Han, Chewy, and Lea returning in this film with the rest of the audience! Even the emotions in this movie was kept in tact since the original three really got us loving them with the suspense, emotions, and the action that is linked to it. Ohhh we can’t wait for the next episode with how this one ended on a very nice note! If you haven’t seen this film, you must!
Runner Up: Ant Man! II know, I know! Why wasn’t Age of Ultron the Runner Up? Well, I think that Ant Man kind of deserved it a bit more in my opinion! Yes, I was excited like everyone else about the second Avengers movie and how interesting it was with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, plus having Jarvis being humanish. Ant Man, on the other hand, had a more interesting premise! It told the story differently as a way of passing down the mantle of Ant Man to someone new due to Hank Pim being older and it’s good to see that instead of the original story behind it. We are going to get glimpses of Hank in the next season of Agent Carter from what we see and it’s good to get the idea of the story before the movie in the show. Michael Douglas as always had a great performance, not only that this movie gave us our next glimpse into Civil War and we got to see one of the Avengers on top of it!

Worsts

Worst Press Turn Down: AFO! Yes, got to mention this because it was one of the worst things I went through this year. Not only with personal life but of course with being turned down hard by Anime Festival Orlando for press. We have given great chances by great conventions such as MetroCon in Tampa, MythiCon, now Holiday Matsuri, but the big one that gave us the biggest chance to do press was of course Omni Expo because they found us due to a typo! If you read all the press stuff we done, we didn’t start this blog to get free passes into conventions, we started this blog back on Blogger when Hot Topic discontinued their first cosmetics line and it blossomed from there into other things like gaming, cosplay, and many more! Plus, we brought you interviews with voice actors like Dameon Clarke, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Lauren Landa, and so much more! Now we have Joshua Seth and Todd Habercorn to add to that long list! I know I am harping it but all I have to say is we worked hard and if AFO doesn’t want to give us that chance even in 2016 and beyond, well we go to the next convention and try there! Even Ranger Stop is letting us try out again for next year, who knows if we get that one.

Worst Band: Blaine the Mono! I have to mention these guys here because ughhhhh! I respect a lot of local acts but Blaine the Mono is not one of them. Their music is not that great, it would improve greatly if the lead singer doesn’t scream or get a different person. Let me describe the screams, they sound like harpie screeching in my ears, really! We first heard about these guys when they performed at the House of Blues on the night that Soul Switch did their album release and they didn’t get better by the time we saw them operform with Mr. Bella and Soul Switch in September. Some people said they were better than Mr. Bella but here’s the thing…Gondras notices how the bandmates in Mr. Bella play music that fits the range of their lead singer and I agree with that! Blaine the Mono…not so much! Plus, there werne’t many people cheering for them as much as people were cheering for Mr. Bella and Soul Switch combined! Sorry to say, Blaine the Mono needs to improve or don’t come back because the competition is getting bigger!

The Most Meh Month for Beauty Subscriptions: May! I had to mention this because it kind of fits the Worsts categories and that is how the month of May was a bit of a meh month for Ipsy and BOxyCharm. I have been a member of both for over a year now and the products that I got in both were okay, not the best, just meh! I did like the lipstick I got in BoxyCharm which was the Lip Bar, which really made me excited about that. Ipsy, it felt like they focused a bit more on the anti-aging stuff more than any other items, heck I got the Blue Iceland eye patches but gave them to my mom since I wouldn’t be using them. December was also a bit meh but mostluy for Ipsy since two of the products were ones I swapped for better items while the rest were five star worthy items, heck even the Elizabeth Mott eye primer had me at happy because I got to try something else from the brand. I am hoping with 2016 that there won’t be much of meh months for both because the selections of products would be better. Heck, crossing my fingers on the Revealed Smoky pallet from Coastal Sense next year! Let’s see what it holds!

Well, that is it! Longest Wait for a Convention: Ranger Stop! Uhhhhhhhh! Seriously, never thought with a convention I would have to wait for the longest time for everything on the first day! What do I mean by that? Well, I had to wait until 2 PM to pick up my three day pass, wait until 4 PM to be let in, well mostly 4:30 since I wasn’t VIP, so yeah, longest wait ever! Most conventions just open around 10 in the morning and then dealer room around noon for VIP and an hour later for regular passes, Matsuri was 11 AM to open up dealer room for VIP! But nope, Ranger Stop opened their dealer room at 5! I know it seems like I am ranting but this convention needs to look at how some of the other ones run because it would help immensely, especially where this is the convention that felt like it catered to the VIP holders more than regular pass holders, which there were more events for VIP than doing more panels and special events. I will try again for press and hoping next year they have a better convention not only that did see there wasn’t much of a great turn out for Saturday since I only went for two days after knowing Sunday didn’t have much to do. Again, they need to improve with events and panels the most.

Well, that is it for this year’s Bests and Worsts. There weren’t that many worst things but still the worst of them all was the AFO Press thing and it still stings! I feel as though this year had a lot of bests and it is hard to fit them into one post so I stuck to what was the most best ones of all! There were great other moments from conventions like how Steve Cardinas thought my cane was a wizard staff and of course finally finding the Tiger and Bunny messenger bag I was looking for! And of course, showing up as Lucy to Todd Habercorn’s signings, first time doing it was at AFO after not seeing him since 2012 and shown my appreciation for trying Fairy Tail again.

What will 2016 bring? Well, crossing our fingers on year three of Omni Expo press! They gave us a major chance in press and hoping they give us a third time doing it. Plus, they are earlier this year due to MegaCon now being in May! I am not sure if we are going, I am almost thinking about press for it but at the same time it might not work or anything. I will have to look into that. Any new cosplays? Well, my Pokemon designs will be extending since I am thinking, hoping to get done by Omni, doing Link from Legend of Zelda as a Pokemon Ranger! I already got the Silveon plush, gotta get the rest of the parts! And of course, Lucy as a Pokemon Trainer! Not sure what got me thinking to do it but it came out of nowhere in my thoughts and already got a Vaporeon for Aquarius!

Of course, we will be looking forward to Captain America: Civil War! Even Dead Pool despite not being done by Marvel but it is already proving to be hilarious!

More to come in 2016! Stay tuned for the rest of our Holiday Matsuri coverage in January, hoping we get it up before December next year sneaks up on us again! Hey, 2015 did that to us and the next will do it too.

So, have a safe Happy New Year and be careful driving! So, til next time and follow us on Twitter if you haven’t!
