Pokémon Review: Y Version

Hello everyone and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe. Time for a game review as a nice way of pulling away from beauty for a bit. I will get to the permanent make up thing next time but decided to give you my thoughts on a game.

I finally finished Pokemon Y Version since my New Year’s Resolution was to finish games I started, which I am on a good roll thus far due to how I finished Black version on New Year’s Day itself. Now it’s onto Y Version and man I liked it better than the older versions and I will tell you why!

Region and Pokemon: Like a lot of newer games and newer stories, this set of games, X and Y, take place in the new Kalos Region which is centered around France, well more like Europe in my opinion due to how you have Stonehenge in one area and a bit of Norway and Switzerland with two of the cities dealing with snow and the Alps when you look at the mountain region heading to the second to last city you need to battle. Also, some Indian principles as well due to how in this region, the legendaries Xernius and Yveltol, have a creation and destruction myth with it and will get to that during the story area. Anyuway, this region is pretty much Europe and it is easy to travel through due to how you not only have the FLY HM for later and getting a bike but you have roller skates on top of it. That is pretty convenient since it does get you to place to place in a lot of the towns, especially Lumios City, which is practically Paris, France and that play with the 3D elements better, which I will mention later.

Let’s talk about Pokemon for a second! Great thing about this game is that it introduces not only newer generation Pokemon such as the starters Chespin, Fennekin, and Froaky but brings the past gen Pokemon as well! Heck, when you first meet Professor Sycamore, this regions Pokemon Professor, you get the Gen 1 starters, only one of them, Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur which is a nice bonus for your team. I did have fun choosing Squirtle but Gondras did trade me his Charmander when he restarted X and boy did having Charizard on my team throughout the game brought so many memories! This was pretty handy to have the previous gens because it gives you better varieties in having different types and training them for the many gyms since you do have to face different Pokemon and that included bug, ground, ice, thunder, and even the newest type, fairy! Yes, they added the newest type as fairy and not only there were new Pokemon created for these types such as Flabebe as an example, but they did add the type to existing Pokemon that didn’t have it before such as Clefairy and Clefable are now considered fairy types and somehow Marill is included, don’t know why but they did that for this game when it is already a water-type. Besides adding this and creating newer Pokemon, there was also a new fairy-type Evee made to add to the already existing Evees, Sylveon! Still trying to get a plushie of it. Anyuway, you also get to go up against this Evee in the Laverre Gym against Valerie. Besides newer Pokemon made for this region, what was great is how you can train the Pokemon easier than the past few games and that was using the newer version of the EXP share! In the last few games you can give it to one Pokemon but this one you can turn it on after receiving it and it levels all your Pokemon at once after each battle. It sounds broken, oh it is, but at the same time very handy because there are times you use some Pokemon that you hardly use before on your team, such as I never used Oddish back in Blue and Red until teaching it cut and able to turn it into Vileplume after training it for certain battles and see how the attacks have changed. Hell, I haven’t used Dugtrio in years when I had to go up against Clemente in Lumios Gym which did help out with training it. Even going up against the Elite Four and the Champion was easier with this EXP Share on hand because it made beating them smoother than the past few games. I did say Black Version’s training system was bad, this beats it. Glad they included it in Salpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, which I am going to be working on Alpha Sapphire.

Besides training, there was a new feature added to this series and that Pokemon and Me which lets you become closer to your Pokemon. It allows you to pet your Pokemon, feed them, and also play mini-games to raise their affection levels so they can like you more. Great thing is that if you pet them in the wrong area, they will notify you such as Pikachu’s cheeks, he will zap you if you try to pet them there. I don’t get why even though in the anime it is a great massage area for them. Once you maxed out their affection levels, they unlock abilities that will help them out in battle and not get affected as much by damage or status ailments as previous games. Hoping this feature is added to more games later, I can imagine with a remake of the Diamond, Pearl and Pearl remakes if they get that far.

Story: Unlike Black, this story has not too much plot even though Black did flow and this one did too, but what made it weird was at some point it dealt with two guys being immortal. This story starts off your character moving to Vandeville Town in Kahlos and you meet, depending on who you choose, either Callom or Serena, Shana, Tierno, and Trevor to of course take on the gym leaders and Elite Four once a starter gets picked for that journey. I started off with Froaky as my starter since I heard about his final evolution being Gruninja. Gondras did choose Fennekin but restarted and traded it to me with his Charmander so I can hold onto them for breeding and he did start with Chespin. If they come out with Z Version, I might think of Fennekin since fire types don’t get muckh love.

Within the story, you get to meet the newest evil team, Flare, who think about spreading beauty and style across the world and destroy humanity to keep the beauty of the world in tact. In order to do that, they collect the Mega Stones, which this game, forgot to mention in the Pokemon section, Mega Evolutions of Pokemon that take on stronger forms and increase their strength except you can use one at a time. Sucks since I do have an Aerodactyl with a Mega Stone. Anyways, besides the mega stones, they build a machine and take the legendary Pokemon of whatever game you play to power it up with their immense power to destroy it. It did confuse me to hear that Lysander was immortal, which the machine that was created was a way to bring back a Pokemon he killed. Oh yeah, that still exists and of course there was a happy ending with another character but don’t want to spoil too much if you haven’t played the games or have someone who wants to play them, which I will get to that later.

With this game, well these games since Gondras has picked it back up not too long ago, has a better story plot than the last few games, well Black and White. Don’t worry, will get to White 2 soon and now about to work on Alpha Sapphire. Reason being is not only there was not too much plot like the last but it didn’t go all over the place. What do I mean by that? I felt it was more linear than waiting until post-game to finish the story with Flare and getting more interactions with the rival and other friends made it more worthwhile. I know with Black and White you got that with the rival and Bianca at certain points but this had more of it, especially when you got to go through some Flare stuff including the Pokeball factory. I did find it funny how when getting the fossil for your own dinosaur and the big nugget, your rival sees the big nugget and goes, “What will I do with this thing?” And still puts it in the bag, which of course like past games it gives you money and seeing that it was bigger it will give you more. Now with the destruction and creation portion of the story. Apparently, this story has folklore that deals with a god of destruction and a god of creation which is dealing with more Hindi folklore due to Xernius as the creation legendary while Yveltol being the destruction, there is a Z legendary but don’t know what he has to do with it, to me it makes it more interesting especially with how Flare gets whatever one you play in either version. As you know I did end up with Yveltol and that thing is a beast! If you played Y and caught this thing, you know when you hear its cry in the game you know you would run, especially with the move set it gains and new attacks along the way when it levels up! It is even awesome as Lugia but darker in a sense due to it being a Dark-Type. I wonder how the card would look if I were to get in a pack like Lugia. Still, back to the legends of these two Pokemon. It says on Bulbapedia that Xernius is known to create forests and to learn the move Geomancy and once it’s at the end of its life it will turn into a tree into a tree and sleep for a thousand years while Yveltol, on the other hand, is known for stealing life energy especially at its life’s end, which it takes the life energy from its surroundings and turns into a cocoon for its thousand year sleep. This big bird is the only one to learn Oblivion Wing and man that thing is powerful and not getting rid of it. Even with younger players, don’t get rid of it when you get this Pokemon. To me, when it comes to mythology, Yveltol reminds me of the Norse Serpent since it does get locked up for a long slumber, I bet it wasn’t happy when Lysander woke it up for his machine.

In the end, I liked the story of this game since it paced very well, the legendaries do have interesting tales with them. I hope there is another game to complete the three because of how everyone loved playing it. Try being surrounded by so many 3DS players with it while at school! Only thing that always got me is how a lot of the story revolved around Lumios City and you had to fly there a lot for certain things like doing jobs, even restoring power to the Northern half of the city with the Lumios Powerplant. Knowing with the third game if there is one, we may run into the same thing. I do like how the city is 3D, which makes it even nicer unlike Castelia City back in Black and White, which that was a navigation nightmare but for my eyes, Lumios is the same way since how you have to deal with it revolving when you go into doors and so on. This game did play nicely with the 3D and liked it. Another part of the battle story itself, is of course the Elite Four! Instead of battling them in order, you can go into whatever order you like and the types this time were different which made it better which were Dragon, Steel, Water, and Fire and then the Champion, like Kanto, had a variety with Flying, Ground, and Fairy! My order with this battle was Steel, Dragon, Fire, and water. I think the hardest was Drasna with the dragons since my Drudegon and Lapras kept on getting hit for so much damage. At least with the Champion battle didn’t have to have Flare interrupt!

Music: I rarely talk about the music in any of the Pokemon games since it was mostly chip tunes being played and sometimes some of the songs get used over and over like in Sinnoh with one or two of them and at least none of them are as creepy as Lavendar Town back in Blue and Red. The music in Y, on the other hand, way better! How so? I kind of feel like they got an actual orchestra to help put together these games, as in you hear trumpets blaring, guitars going, and drums banging in this music. I can see how much work was put into this because each town has its own song that doesn’t sound weird with the chip tunes and don’t want to put you to sleep. Plus, the music for trainers and Pokemon interchange very well, you hear one song for Pokemon which kind of takes me back to the Stadium days in how their battle music sounded and with gym leader battles, on the other hand, gives you an awesome techno song. This techno song kind of gives you a nice anticipation of how the battle will go. What was also awesome, the Elite Four members got metal themes for their battles! Okay Nintendo, you better have put this for the Elite Four for the newer Sapphire and Ruby games because this transition with the music made it better! I think I remembered Roxanne getting the techno treatment when I went up against her months ago on Alpha Sapphire, I will see how that goes. All in all, the music has improved and wishing they keep this up for future remakes!

Overall Thought: These two games are worth playing for the kid in us and any new younger players because not only introduces new generation Pokemon but it looks back at the previous generations as well. With having the previous generation, new players that are young can see what Pokemon we knew and love from the past. I still remembered how my older nephew didn’t know about the past generation Pokemon until he picked up Diamond and Platinum himself like I did when I first got into the Nintendo DS. Plus, this game did play with the 3D a lot better than Black and White ever did, don’t know how well it played in White 2 yet, but Lumios City looked beautiful, the battles were Stadium quality, which you see the Pokemon actually using their attacks in this rendering versus the old version, and of course there were cut scenes that used it too. If you remembered the mansion for the Pokeflute quest, the fireworks scene played it well. I am hoping that a Z Version is made because this story played with Pokemon better than Black and White in my opinion and of course the training was not as hard than the others because of the newer version of the EXP Share. I also liked how I got to use different Pokemon for the many gyms and the Elite Four and able to level up while traveling than waiting to head back to whatever route to train again with another Pokemon that might not faint as easily and no level caps for that area.

My Rating: 5 Paw Prints out of 5!

That is it for this game review! I am going to be working on Alpha Sapphire and might go and work on White 2 since I do have the strategy guide for that. What is next? The beauty controversy over permanent make up in my book at least!

TransMedia Retrospective: Pokemon

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! We all know the catch phrase “Gotta Catch Em All!” and of course the original theme song to the biggest anime and video game series and that is Pokemon! This series has been one of the most popular and has still grown since and had many media versions of itself, which includes video games, card games, toys, manga, and so on! As a way to celebrate AFO getting two of the original cast members, we will be looking at this series when it comes to the major media areas!

Basic Idea: Since Pokemon has been around since the 90’s and has been ever growing, the basic premise is that it started in 1995 and created by Satoshi Tajiri and the Pokemon Company. The franchise started as a two video game pair for the Game Boy that was developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. This series centers around how people catch creatures known as Pocket Monsters or Pokemon for short in balls called the Pokeball and fight other people and train them for sport.

Video Games: Before looking at the anime, we got to look at the place where it started it all and that is the video games! Each game is pretty much a strategy RPG with battles and going to different towns in many regions. There have been six generations thus far and the first one started with Red and Blue on the original Game Boy that started off in the Kanto region and of course the original 151 known as First Generation. At first it was Red and Green Versions in Japan and then released the Blue Version over there as an expansion but only Red and Blue had their release here in the US in September of 1998. There was of course Yellow, which was the Special Pikachu Edition, which was based on the popular anime synopsis and did have the same idea of Pokedex stuff like in the Blue and Red versions here, what was great is that you got to go up against Jessie and James like in the anime.

Second Gen brought us Gold, Silver, and Crystal, which later turned into Heart Gold and Soul Silver for the DS, featured the Johto region and a hundred more Pokemon that went from Chikorita to Celebi. This does get based on the Kansai region of Japan like how Kanto did in Red, Blue, and Yellow.

Third Gen kind of got weird and this time it expanded the Game Boy into its advanced state through the Game Boy Advanced with Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, which we have Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire for the 3DS today. This even brought remakes of Red and Blue through Leaf Green and Fire Red to the Advanced as well and these games all introduced 135 new species starting with Treeko and all the way through Deoxys. Reason being with the Pokemon being a little strange, this is where some of them took on inanimate objects, well the Regis for the most part that kind of looked like speakers eventhough Exploud and Explodster already covered that. This brought the entire total to 386 to catch in these games except they got some criticisms due to some things that were left out including the day and night switch which started in Gold and Silver. Man, that would be hard for turning Evee in either a Umbreon or Espeon. It also introduced catching certain Pokemon in some areas which brought a problem of only catching 202 out of the 386 in Hoen, which was based on the Kyushu region of Japan. A little fact, I did play Sapphire but the copy I had kept deleting my games, I am guessing that some copies had a glitch and glad I got Alpha Sapphire in the end so I can play the third region.

Fourth Generation, which was introduced in 2006 brought us Diamond and Pearl and then Platinum later on for the DS. The Sinnoh Region brought us new 107 speies of Pokemon which were from Turtwig to Arsius. Great thing about these games and the DS at the time, it featured using the touch screen features to make Poffins with the stykus, entering the Pokemon contest, and of course battling, which is still implemented on the 3DS and 3DS XL and even the now New 3DS today! It also brought new features like WiFi battles which made it easier than the old cable connections we all remembered from Game Boy. It did bring the day and night features from second gen and did expand the Pokemon Contests from third gen. This region was based on the Hokaido region and Sattelin in Russia since of course Route 116 that leads you to Snowpointe City to take on Candace. It also features underground battles and digging for things such as evolution stones and heart scales. Fourth Gen did also have a few spin off games which included a follow up to Pokemon Stadium with Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Wii.

Fifth Gen, which is where it gets weirder, takes place in the Unova Region in Black and White and both Black and White 2 which is based on New York City in the US. This generation introduced new 156 to the roster which started with Victini and ended with Genesect. If you read my review on Black 1, you know these new Pokemon were weird and started being based on inanimate objects and food. Yeah, they were really running out of ideas! Not only the weird Pokemon and new region, these games used the 3D rendering on the 3DS with Castelia City, which was hard to navigate for me. I will be playing White 2 since that and Black 2 kind of do a different direction of the region.

Now onto Sixth Gen, which is the games of X and Y! These games take place in the Kalos Region which is based on France and some areas of Europe, which we do run into Stone Henge on one of the routes. I wonder if that will happen again in the next game to introduce more to this region. This region also brought some more new Pokemon and even a new type, Fairy Type, and one of them happened to be the newest Evee, Silveon. This game brought on more of the 3D by rendering it in 3D along with the battles which take us back to Pokemon Stadium and of course we get Lumios City bringing more of that mechanic. Will the next one to complete this region’s trilogy do the same? Unless there will be an X2 and Y2? Let’s see what happens!

Anime: Now onto the anime! Both the anime and movies were based loosely on the games, well besides Yellow, follow the adventures of Ash, aka Satoshi in Japan, in becoming the next Pokemon Master. He travels with Brock, gym leader of Pewter City, and Misty, one of many sisters from the Cerulean Gym, to make him become the best Pokemon Master. He meets a lot of people on his quest and battle to get badges and get to meet new Pokemon with his signature first, Pikachu, and catch many others.

The group does change by the Third Generation when he meets May, daughter of Norman of the Peddleburg Gym, and her brother Max and get reunited with Brock with the new adventures in Hoen. Brock and Ash become a teacher to the both of them since Max wants to be a Pokemon Trainer while May becomes a Pokemon Coordinator to compete in contests.

Both Brock and Ash move onto Sinnoh where they meet an aspiring coordinator named Dawn and go through the region to not only get badges but Ash becomes a contest competitor himself. The series does end with both Brock and Ash going back to Kanto where Brock goes off to become a Pokemon Doctor for real. With Best Wishes, which is based on Black and White, is where it gets weird and didn’t like the series much. Ash meets two new friends, Cylan and Iris. I kind of noticed how with this one, Ash went type-weakness stupid, as in he kept on choosing the wrong Pokemon to fight against what they are weak against to. Good example is the episode against his newest rival and uses his Ashawat against their Sirvine when according to the type logic water’s weak grass Pokemon. No wonder my Tolterra was great in the Pastoria Gym! Iris even yells at him for it. Hell, even using Pikachu in the last gym, Roxy’s gym, did poison him. Kind of shows how he can be weak after being so overpowered in every season. Still, don’t know what happened with the writing but Ash should be able to know better especially with all his losses in the past region leagues. I know I am kind of bashing but when watching this season on the Pokemon TV app when it was on my phone, made me sad with how the character of Ash kind of went downhill. This season should’ve been written a bit more. And the casting for Iris for me…she did kind of sounded bored! Which reminds me!

Did You Know?4Kids was the original dubbing studio for Pokemon. By 2006, they handed all licensing to Pokemon USA which is now the Pokemon Company. I miss the old casting, which had Veronica Taylor as Ash and did an awesome job as May in the third generation anime. And of course, Eric stuart as Brock and Rachel Lillis as Misty.

Pokemon XY is the current series where Ash travels with childhood friend, Serena, and brother and sister duo, Clement and Bonnie. I did like the premiere episode or episodes where Ash meets his first Pokemon in this region, Froaky! And then it does show a little bit of mega evolution with Blazeken.

There have been seventeen films for this anime along with it! And the recent has been Diansy and the Cocoon of of Destruction. I can see why Diansy was a special Pokemon for the games. If you want a full list, I would say go to Wikipedia because we all know that each region came with 2 to 3 movies each, especially with the Unova region which looked like it had four because it dealt with Victini, Reshiram, Kyuram, the three or shall I say Four Musketeer Pokemon since you meet the Fourth one in Black and White 2, and of course, Keldio. And oh yes, Genesect, which that movie…introduced Mega Evolved Mewtwo Y which led into X and Y.

Card Game: The TCG for Pokemon pretty much is like the video games except you collect cards in the real world of the many Pokemon, Trainers, and Energy cards, which are used to power up for attacks. I have collected the cards myself and have grown with them and man it has evolved in the rules and the cards! I can’t collect anymore due to being blind even though I do have decks with braille labels. I just play the video games! You can find the XY packs and tins, not sure if they have some for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire since they made cards for Heart Gold and Soul Silver!

Manga: Pokemon had various manga, especially published for North America. The first was The Electric Tale of Pikachu which was split into four titles, which the first one was Electric Tale, then Pikachu Shocks Back, Pikachu Boogaloo, and Sufs Up Pikachu! These manga were based loosely on the anime While Pokemon Adventure was mostly based on the video games and does go by the player characters you play as in each region. Ther are many others that were released by Viz and not by Viz but another company here in the US. There are too many to mention but those are the main two since I remembered reading Electric Tale when it was published here back in the 90s.

So, that is it for this TransMedia Tretrospective! Pokemon has been a major part of our lives and it is still is to this day! With new games, merch, and of course more anime, this has been an evergrowing series and will keep growing! No matter how it will keep going, we will Gotta Catch Em All!

What is next for Nerdy Shique Universe? With mentioning Pokemon, I will do a cosplay post on it since I am working on my latest Pokemon cosplay! And also now waiting on my Ipsy and BoxyCharm shipping e-mails! And well….decided next post I need to talk about something serious that has taken place in the Beauty World! Stay tuned for that!

Convention Spotlight: Anime Festival Orlando 2015!

Time for another Convention Spotlight! I was going to wait until later this month but the latest guest announcement got me to do it now!

The convention is Anime Festival Orlando and it will be at the Wyndham Resort August  14th through the 16th here in Orlando, FL! Oh yes, a few days after my birthday yet again! Gondras and I haven’t been back to this con since 2012 but this year it has us wanting to return due to the guests which I will be announcing now!

Guests for 2015

Dante Basco: You remembered that I interviewed Mr. Dante Basco for you all to read and can still read here on the Word Press blog from MetroCon last year! This year he will be in Orlando for AFO and you already remember his roles as Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender and Rufio in Hook! And of course, the very first role I heard him as and that was Jake Long in American Dragon Jake Long!

Eric Stuart: I know, “Wait! What!?” I know, I was surprised too! Another actor I have interviewed last year is coming to AFO and that is Eric Stuart! He is no stranger to our backyard and you can still find my post with the videos interviewing him here and also on YouTube! Plus, I did mention it as “Best Interview of 2014!” in my Bests and Worsts of 2014. For anyone new to his work, he is known as Brock and James from the original run of Pokemon, Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh, and the role that I really got into his work with even more, Gourry Gabriev in Slayers!

Veronica Taylor: She is also no stranger to Orlando since she hasn’t been back since 2006 at AFO during the high of FullMetal Alchemist started going off! Yes, I still remembered the extremely long line in front of her table for the FMA signing. Veronica Taylor is returning this year and happy about it! She was the original voice of Ash Ketchum in Pokemon and May in Pokemon Advanced. Can’t forget the great hero of justice, Amelia in Slayers! Will she be interviewed for Nerdy Shique Universe? Let’s see what happens!

Todd Habercorn: Oh yes! Just announced today, Todd Habercorn will be appearing at this year’s AFO and it makes me really happy! I can thank him for getting me into Fairy Tail as Lucy since he is the voice of Natsu Drakneil. And of course, Mr. OCD-to-Symmetry, Death the Kid in Soul Eater! And anyone fans of it, he is also in the newest Toonami anime that was added, Kill la Kill. Not sure if I want to get the Etalus Natsu and Regular Natsu side of one of my Fairy Tail volumes signed, still happy!

There will be some guest DJs to be added since of course they do have their rave. And of course…can’t forget…

Tales of Orlandia: Every year since 2007, AFO has their live action roleplay experience for convention goers to participate in by going around the convention to help complete the story and get missions from the stage players that are in the story as well. Gondras was one of the players during 2011’s story as a crazy Jester. and now it is back with a newer story and looks like this time they are going with the theme of the Tales of…. Game series, which has been a pretty popular series by what I seen lately.

What is the story? It is known as “Curse of the White Witch” and this is going to be interesting! I may have toparticipate this year when I get my paws on my press badge. If you’re interested in auditioning, check the Orlandia page on the Anime Festival Orlando website for full details and how to audition! They did hold some yesterday and more to come by the looks of it! Stay tuned!

Well, that was short! There will be more added to the page as time goes on and the convention gets closer and closer! You can register for passes for AFO 2015 by going to their page at www.animefestivalorlando.com and if you head to their Facebook page, you can sign up for the e-mail newsletter which is pretty handy dandy!

Well, what is next for Nerdy Shique Universe? Will be doing a review on Soul Switch’s new song! Stay tuned! Signing off for now!

Collective Haul: Target, Walgreens, and Cosplay

Hello everyone and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! It feels good to say that and also glad to move the blog to somewhere else! I thought Word Press would be better since it would be easier to read the posts I put up and the psting form is easier to work with than what Blogger has been doing. So, let’s see! Since I’ve been busy with classes, it was hard getting around to posting a haul post since I have been getting new products and a few of them are cosplay, so why not do a collective based on the cosplay items and make up I did get! Let’s go!

First is Target! I love going to Target because not only the staff is friendly and helpful, but they tend to have more products and lower prices since it feels like WalMart is rising their prices a little and of course they don’t tend to carry everything. Target doesn’t carry most of the stuff that WalMart does and same with Walgreens but I still like going there since I can find a lot of stuff. Some of the stuff I did got in the past couple of weeks include more of the Herbal Essences Honey I’m Strong shampoo and conditioner! I had to get more because while I carried my last two bottles, I didn’t know I had the shampoo bottle open in the bag I carried all my wet stuff in and it leaked and had less shampoo and ran out before the conditioner, so I got more and this time it is a bigger bottle which I do love! I love the scent of honey and hebs and it smells so good! It is like It’s Raining Men with herbs! I did get something that’s new for my makeup regiment and that is the Almay Clear Complexion Concealer Plus Treatment stick! I know I was using Maybelline’s Dark Spot Correcting Concealer but people I know thought it was too dark and it gets mixed as foundation and I tend to put too much and I do admit it gets a little greasy and it is hard to tell when I run out since it is a cream type thing. It also made my face itcy a little and didn’t clear the dark spots and blemishes I had as fast as this! I did some research on Almay’s site to see if they had something similar and this was it! It is better and different because it comes with a gel that you put on first on the spots that need it and then you put the concealer on the other end on top of the gel and blend a little. Then I put my actual concealer from the same line but compact form on top and blend even more, it helps this way since even though the concealer end looks like a powder but it warms to your skin when you put it on. Knowing me, this will be on my faves post next! Then I got three new lip products as well! Two of them are Cover Girl and the other Maybelline! First Cover Girl, I haven’t gotten anything lately from them and I heard good things about the TMega Twist Balm Tint, something like that, but I heard good things about these through favorite videos and wanted to try them out. At first I wanted to get Berry Twist but they sold out! Apparently these are popular especially Berry Twist. I know I should’ve gone to the Cover Girl section during my Walgreens run but didn’t! There is always next time, I did get the Plum Twist though since I wear plum colors time to time and well the disappointing thing is that these aren’t flavored or smell like their fruit colors, I wish they did! But I do like the idea of it being a balm tint! One thing I did get that I wanted for a long time and that is the Strawberry Splash gloss from their Fruit Spritzer line! I love strawberries and was happy that they have a strawberry gloss in this line and do like their Chocolate Mint one they made but the flavor of that one is way too strong to me, I do use it with my Double Choc lip tint from Lush, but the Strawberry one smells like if you are eating candy and it feels great! Another thing from Target I did get was the LipSmackers SPF 24 party pack! I am still trying to find the one for Paul Frank and can’t find it anywhere! If anyone has seen this thing, please comment below! I am open to comments! Anyways, this pack started coming out in time for summer since we tend to get suntan lotions and people are always saying use sunscreen and these balms have sunscreen which is good. You tend to get this on the site but now they are coming to Targets now and it is great timing! These do have the sunscreen smell but it is light in some and others a little heavy, but the smells that do come in this do stick out like the watermelon as an example, I believe there is one with strawberry kiwi and so many others! I may have to start using these since Florida is known for heat! Forgot to mention the Maybelline lip product! I finally got my paws on the Color Whispers lipsticks, well one, which is known as Pink Possibilities! Kind of like Purple Possibilities from their old cream eye shadow line but this is pink this time around. I heard so many good things about these things, especially with 11th Gorgeous who had a LipStick Haul they made. I had to get one after watching the commercials since they are lightweight and not so sticky, even when I tried it on and see how it was and boy does it feel light! I actually like this better than the Color Sensational lipstick in Sugared Honey since that one is heavy but Pink Possibilities is more lightweight. And the last thing I got was a new concealer brush because I was using the little pad that came with the Almay compact but there was a hole and decided to go with a brush. At first I wanted to go to ELF cosmetics because I heard so many good things about their concealer brushes since I already had the eye shadow one for times when I do a monolid look and do the lid colors with the quad compacts, but the lady pointed me to their brush section and a salon worker pointed this double ended one that was around $7 and it is doubled ended, one for the face that looks like a bbq sauce brush but it works pretty well and very soft! The other end is great for the eye area, which I do put the powder around it and it helps to get the tiny areas of my face and I did have a scab from when my fiance scrubbed some of the 24 Hour Tattoo shadow I was wearing one day and boy it hurt and had to hide it, don’tt worry it healed due to my skin treatment and the concealer stick I’ve been using. So, that is for Target!

Walgreens: I haven’t been to Walgreens in a long time and needed a ffew things and as said didn’t stop by Cover Girl which I should’ve but did need some other things. First, had to get more witch hazel which is really great! I love using this and helps getting the blemis spots that are left over from anything that is on my face and it may be a little drying, but I do have my container of Celestial. Then I got more round cotton pads to help use the witch hazel a lot easier. I use cotton balls with the rubbing alcohol and then the witch hazel with the pads since it would help attack the marks easier. Then got more baby wipes for my make up cleaning and I got something really nice and it the ones with the scent of green tea and cucumber! I tend to get my deodorant in this scent but this would be a nice little change and it is my fave scent. I did run by the Wet N Wild section for curiosity to see what is new, didn’t find much but they did do a Buy something for $1. 99 and theng et one half off, I got two nail polishes and they are in Wet Cement, a dark gray, and On a Trip, which is a purple that I never thought of getting until now. I should’ve gotten more items but thought these would be good enough for now, but WNW is still cheap no matter what Walgreens you go to!

Cosplay, I have been working on two cosplays lately for the summer convention season, one original the other not! First my Pokemon character, Rusty!

Rusty, my Pokemon Character: This character was another one I wanted to do and his backstory from my pokemon fics are that he used to be on Team Aqua but he betrayed them and got hurt and ended up being transported by his Starmie to the Sinnoh region and was dropped off and never saw his Starmie for a while. A Raichu finds him and becomes his Pokemon. He does lose his memories about Aqua and gets them back, I am going to plan on doing one based on “What if” and probably show what if he was on Magma and may change characters and do the sequel but a newer syndicate way. Anyways, so I am doing his Pokemon Ranger outfit but my own twist. I asked for descriptions about the costumes they wear, they sounded vvery bulky and complicated in how the creator made them and I don’t know why, after doing Ike, one of my other characters, I felt as though my design in costumes for Pokemon are easier since I can get the parts at Good Will or Plato’s Closet, even Ebay! So, here goes. I decided to do a red and black version and got the goggles off of Ebay along with the wig, which is a dark ash blond; I had a hard time finding the right length and a straight one and didn’t want to spend so much but I found one with Cosplay DNA and it was perfect and my parents didn’t recognize me! I am going to use my old Ginji gloves since they do wear gloves and despite the metal plates, it would give off a nice look and will use my black shorts with it and flip flops. A friend of mine is making the scarf, she did teach me how to knit a little but the yarn kept fraying and she decided to finish it, she is also making the ranger pin, and Raichu, which I helped her during a JoAnn’s run with getting supplies. I did get the bandana and a red shirt from Michael’s arts and crafts! And finding the bandanas and shirts were easy! I wanted to get a bandana with red nautical stars but they didn’t have one so went with a plain black one. I went to a Slavation Army for the black vest and it was perfect! So, all I have to do is wait for the rest of the stuff to be made.

Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail: I did mention in my Fairy Tail review back on Blogger that I was going to be cosplaying as her for Metro and MythiCon this year since Cheramie is at MythiCon and we are doing Fairy Tail for the Blind Experience. My update is that I did get the skirt at Plato’s Closet. I remembered getting the skirt for my Anri costume from there and it was the only place that had clothes that fit, well the one closer to downtown, and I did find one that fit me in XL! I am so glad that it fits and I should go to that one more often for any skirts that would fit me. Then the boots! I had such a hard time with these because everyone on Ebay sold any boots in Medium and I am a Wide! I almost went with Hot Topic but was afraid they would be Medium and don’t want to go through another fitting fiasco with them. I did find the only Wide pair but in 12 and it did cost me a little over $50 due to shipping but it was worth it and they fit perfectly despite the size! They are also heels and boy my feet will be hurting since I am doing press for Metro, I will invest in the Dr. Scholl’s for her in-steps before then. All I need is the wig and the top that my friend is making for me since the creator of Fairy Tail is pretty elaborate.

Well, that is it for this edition of the haul! If anyone has seen the Paul Frank party pack from LipSmackers, please comment below! Next up is my faves of March and April! So, stay tuned!
