Subscription Satelite: March & April 2020 Review Round Up

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with another post!

Subscription Review Round Up: March & April 2020

It is time for my subscription round up for March and April and man I feel like GB Plus has kind of lost its mark these two months which I will get into once I get to it. Let me start with BoxyCharm!

Disclaimer: This Review Round Up is based on thoughts on the items I received in my boxes and how I feel about them. I am very honest with my experiences so please don’t get mad if you enjoyed these products. Thank you!

BoxyCharm: I feel like Boxy has done very well for itself for March and April but I did have one pet peeve item arrive during this month. I did set aside my Murad Ultra Moisture for Eyes which I will not say the entire name, don’t get why skin care brands have extended names for items, since I am still using my E. L. F. one at the moment and have another eye item in rotation once that’s done. I haven’t used my Hank & Henry pallet as of yet, I did contact them for a pallet description and no answer yet which I may have to contact them again. Farmacy is still unopened since I still have a pack of makeup wipes unopened but will get to this when I am done with those. The Vintage by Jessica lip gloss was good but I did not like the brush. It kept on folding in on itself and I had a hard time putting the wand back into its tube. I prefer doe foot applicators over brush ones any day. And finally the Project Beauty Hair Yogurt Mask did feel good on my hair and it did smell very good. I wished there was more product since my hair was growing a bit slightly and of course it was pretty thick and had to put a lot on to use this product. Hey, at least I got to use it!

April was good until one item and that is that they sent me lashes! You know my stance on them and here is the thing with getting these. If BoxyCharm was looking at people’s profiles and what they marked for certain products, for instance when they looked for people’s skin type for the Benefit Porefessional this month, they should have paid attention to what everyone else has marked or not. I did double check my quiz and on the tools question I marked everything EXCEPT lashes. I know everyone will say that they make your look pretty but wearing them over time damages your actual lashes due to pulling them off every night and also I did not know this but they do block out your eye look and if I went through the hassle of trying a new pallet and blended to my heart’s content and put lashes what’s the point? And another thing is that we have mascaras that do the length, do the volume, and some of them even help with lash growth. So that is one step I don’t do. I was happy with the Benefit Porefessional which is the hydrating one which they did pay attention to me marking dry skin which I do have. I am using my newer E. L. F. Putty Face Primer which I do enjoy due to how creamy it is and I will start using the Benefit one when I am done with that one. The brushes I did enjoy which I prefer using these for more of the smaller areas of my eyes rather than going all over. They are nice but they are small in comparison to the brushes I use in my brush pouch. I will still use these though but for mainly a precise crease and my brow bone. I did enjoy the Zoeva pallet I’ve also received and it was perfect for my complexion. So many people over in What’s Up in Make Up loved my looks that I did with it. Also using the Iconic London Illuminator was pretty good since it was really easy to blend after spreading it with my finger. I just dabbed a little bit and used my highlighting brush from Alamar and there I go!

Ipsy: March and April were also really good for Ipsy Glam Bag and March was the hundredth bag celebration and we got six items and went back to five in April!

I did enjoy the Hanalei lip balm in peppermint and all I have to say is that despite the mint in this product it did moisturize my lips! It’s a lot better than the Suzanne Somers lip balm my soon=to=be-mother-in-law gave me which was also mint but the issue I had with that one is that it never went on my lips unlike this one it went very well on my lips since it was in a stick. Its interesting know that mint is not the best ingredient in lip balms but hey at least this was a good one. With the Girlactic liner I just put it with my work makeup and sorry to say I am getting tired of getting black eyeliner in my boxes. I do love a good black liner but I do like to use colorful ones to match my eye looks time to time and wondering what had happened. I mean Boxy got two colorful liners and wishing I got those instead and they were in pink and blue and wondering what is going on Ipsy! I know black is a universal color that can be worn with any look but you need to get back into the variety game since years ago you gave out other colors. I did enjoy the Hey Honey Propalus Moisturizer since I didn’t go to Omni due to what is going on in the world. It felt really cooling on my skin and I did trade my points in for another tube which I will talk about that with GB Plus and wishing it was not so pricey. Hoping it does go on the 21 Days of Beauty in September! I also enjoyed the Complex Culture All Over Eye Brush when packing on shadow all over my lids. It is very soft for a brush and it does help with blending as I go. But I do feel that it is too big for the crease so that is why it’s a lid brush. The Naked Cosmetics Mother Nature Pigment was okay in my book. I think I felt that I had to dip in twice since it did say it’s best to apply with fingers but with our current situation I needed a brush for this thing. I do have some of the loose pigments around in my room so I will be using those! And finally for this bag is the Sugar Cosmetics Uptown Curl mascara and man this knows how to curl my lashes! I do have this with my work mascaras because I do enjoy a nice curl time to time and it does separate my lashes very well. I hope to try more mascaras from Sugar Cosmetics since they are a pretty good brand and have been enjoying what I’ve tried so far by them.

April is back to five items and man I felt that this was a really exciting bag with what I got! First is the Nomad Cosmetics Tuscany Intense Eye Shadow in Aperitivo was something I was excited about since it was my choice item. I have been enjoying this brand and they are the nicest people on the planet! I’ve been talking with one of the founders since I have been tagging them on Instagram with any looks with their items even with the Berlin Underground pallet and they do love to travel and I can see why the brand is known for being named after destinations. This shadow is from their Tuscany Intense nine shadow pallet which I did purchase for a video I want to do spotlighting this brand since my next choice for May in GB Plus is from this brand too. I won’t reveal it until that arrives. I love how this shadow did go on really smoothly and I do love how they use oils in their shadows as well which I think this was made with grape seed oil but it was a smooth shadow. I am glad I did purchase the pallet and I did get two face items since they did release a new New York Collection to donate to charities helping with the world situation right now. They even have done donations towards the Australian Bush Fires this past year in their summer in Australia. Anyways, glad to get this! I got another item from murad which is their Nutrient Charged Water Gel which feels really good on the skin! I use this on my face before makeup so it would soak in while I put on my eye shadow and gives it time to settle in as I go. I hope this will be on the next 21 Days of Beauty because with what I’ve been trying out from Murad I’ve been liking a lot and I find it better to purchase it half-off rather than full price during the sales at Ulta because you feel that you’re getting good skin care even with sensitive skin and you’re not going into the territory of Sunday Riley prices either. Plus this sample is lasting me pretty well because I don’t need too much for an application. I have enjoyed the LoveCraft lipstick in Fausta because it does go on smooth and I feel like it stays put on my lips and it is just so comfortable to wear! I wish most lipsticks were like this one because I feel how drying most of them can be and it feels so uncomfortable after applying some of them. Next is a brush from Ariceli which I feel like it was really scratchy. When I use a blending brush I expect it being soft as I put shadow on my eyes but this one it felt like straw as I put on the Nomad shadow. I think they should improve this brush and hoping if I get more brushes from these guys that they aren’t as scratchy either. And finally I am really happy that I got a bronzer and it’s from Space Case Cosmetics and I loved this bronzer and how well it applies. It almost feels like a Super Shock item from Colour Pop but it is more on the powder side. It is pretty compact in its packaging and glad that I got to get this and hoping I get more bronzers in my Glam Bag because this is the only one I got so far ever since I got back into Ipsy in 2018. So don’t stop sending bronzers! I put “Love It!” For the do you like bronzer’s question.

Glam Bag Plus: March was disappointing and April was a huge road trip for it. March was the same as the Glam Bag where I got six items as well and here was the weird thing about it. Three of the items I got were right and the other three were switched out for some reason for different products and got replacements. The items that were right were the Glam Glow Tropical Cleanser, which I just started using and it smells nice, the Phase Zero Liquid Lipstick which ran out pretty fast, and the Complex Culture Concealer Brush which was a huge triangle shaped brush head that felt like it wouldn’t fit anywhere. I used it for my under eye powder because I felt it was better to do that than just trying to put concealer. Speaking of which, the items that were wrong happened to be the Hey Honey Concealer in Light to Medium which is not so bad, the Balm Girl Powder Blush Pallet which was good even though I chose the eye shadow pallet not this, and the HEMPZ Body Moisturizer in Pineapple which I always notice when it gets to a certain level in the travel size it is hard to squeeze. I did end up getting the items I was supposed to get and the Coffee Scrub which was messy but it was effective in what it did which helped with some of my dry patches. The Pic Perf pallet was really good where the shadows were really pigmented and the primer was better than that crappy E. L. F. Putty Eye Primer and of course god got another eyeliner. I don’t get why they didn’t say, “Wait a minute!” When they were putting together my box. When I sent the email I explained what was missing and even shown screen shots and was asked what I was missing and had to tell them again.

April was a road trip! When it got to Orlando it was close to drop off date and saw that tracking took it to opposite of my part of the state and caused them to send it back to Daytona and then Jacksonville and then to me! I’ve been living at the same address for close to two years and this happens. Apparently was an error on DHL’s half and my post office according to Ipsy. I did get everything right and have been enjoying the items. I used the eyeliner from Tarte and no bleeding! I did enjoy the blush and highlighter pallet which was easy to use where the blushes were on the bottom and the highlighters were on top. The Ciate mascara did feel good but need to have a habit of putting the lash primer, my lashes did look and feel full with it on though! The Crème Rose did feel good on my legs and slightly helping with the dryness even though the scales are kind of there. I do admit when I squeeze I get too much product and wishing it was in a tub rather than a tube because I think I would need more than just a big dollop with how much dryness I am going through to this day. Hoping to get more lotions as time goes on because having lotions time to time in these boxes does help and give an idea of what’s out there. And of course the lipstick! It looks amazing on me from what so many people have said. I did post a picture yesterday of me who did a look with the blush and highlighter pallet, the lipstick, the eyeliner, and the Zephyr pallet from Eleman and everyone liked it and someone said that Brick should be my signature color due to how it looks with my skin tone. When I was job searching and starting to work I did wear a Rimmel lip gloss close to the color of this shade. I will be definitely keep this in my makeup bag and do love the comfort of this lipstick! I did put a sticker to mark this tube to show what which one it is whenever I need to get another one.

That is it for the review on the products. I would have to say that the Glam Bag kind of beat the other two in my opinion. How so? Well, I feel like that the items were catered to my profile very well for both months even with the choices in how they were built around them. Also, I got to try another Murad product and another Hey Honey product on top of it. Also, I feel like they didn’t throw an item I didn’t like like with the lashes in Boxy this month or screw up the items like with my March GB Plus. I know not all brands are perfect but I feel that should have done better. Now hoping next month I won’t get any lashes nor have any of my subscriptions take a road trip across the state before I get it and get squished on top of that. Next post will be a new Accessibility post! Stay tuned!

The Subscription Satelite: Ipsy Glam Bag April 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe and Happy Easter! I have a new post and happy about it!

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2020

Got my Glam Bag yesterday in the mail and thought I would get it earlier but due to how everyone’s shopping online it’s taking a bit to get my items in. I’m even waiting for my Glam Bag Plus to ship and my BoxyCharm didn’t ship until around last Thursday or Friday. This bag is $12 a month and you get deluxe and sometimes full-size items ranging from prestige brands to skin care! You also get to customize one item, buy add-ons, and a makeup bag! Let’s see what I got!

Nomad Cosmetics Tuscany Intense Eye Shadow in Aperitivo: First is my choice item and it’s from Nomad Cosmetics. I am loving this brand so far and glad to choose this because the color caught my interest over the other choices. It’s a shimmery rose quartz shade that I can wear from day to night. I definitely want to wear this shade since I do love their eye shadows due to how pigmented they are and they are made with grape seed oil in a few of them. I can’t wait to try this out!
Murad Nutrient Charged Water Gel: Next is another product from Murad and it’s their Nutrient Charged Water Gel. I’m so glad to try another product from them since I’ve gotten two items during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty and it’s best to buy these guys during that time because this brand is not cheap! When I got my bag yesterday I decided to try this before I shot a video since I do moisturize before putting on makeup and they are right on the description about being lightweight! It wasn’t greasy and it just felt cooling to my skin. It claims to have five minerals, five five vitamins, and five peptids that help balance skin and retain moisture. Also, it’s gentle on all skin types without causing irritation which it didn’t actually. You can also wear this under SPF Actually. I hope to see this on the 21 Days of Beauty sale for Fall because this is $60 and would like to get it for half off, just saying!
LoveCraft Beauty Lipstick in Fausta: Next is a lipstick from LoveCraft Beauty! I remembered my first item I got through add-ons from these guys was a blush pallet and they are pretty good. The color I got this month is in Fausta which is a warm beige nude. This has a satin finish that give a matte and comfortable wear which I’m hoping it does. I can’t wait to try this out
Araceli Beauty Chiquita Blending Brush: Next is a brand I never heard of before and that Araceli Beauty and I received a blending brush from them known as the Chiquita Blending Brush and they’re not kidding. It is pretty small. This brush is a Do-It-All brush with a small oval head to blend color into the eyes. The bristles are made with nano-synthetic fibers and this brand was started by Mexican born Araceli and she does fun and innovative tutorials in Spanish. With her brand she is bringing two things to attention which are her culture and her love for beauty. Which is what we need more of and I could see why the Spanish word for small was used for this brush. I can’t wait to try this brush and hoping to see more of her brand in this subscription.
Space Case Cosmetics Fakecation Bronzer: Final item is from Space Case Cosmetics! Finally a bronzer in my bag since I was wondering about getting these in my bag and not only that in the right shade. I am lighter to medium and need a lighter bronzer not a dark one. I’ve tried this brand before and even have a few shadows and nail polishes from them. I used a lavender polish and it went on pretty smooth and their shadows are smooth, also their highlighters are pretty good. This is a smooth, powder bronzer would give the right kind of radiance to the skin. These products actually feel more like a cream and they dry to a powder but they are smooth. You can wear it all over for the subtle glow it gives but I do only contour the sides of my cheeks rather than my face. Plus it’s not streaky either. I will definitely put this to the test to see how it goes. Hoping it does look good!

Now onto add-ons! I did buy another Space Case item and that is their Seen from Space Highlighter in 1A! I do have one other highlighter and loved the formula which I’m glad to try more from this brand and I should use my eye shadows from them too. And the other item is from IBY and that is their Enlighten Eye Shadow Pallet. This is a colorful pastel pallet with twenty shades which caught my eye and this was in their Ultimate box. I don’t get Ultimate because I’ve heard bad reviews about it and that it was just okay so I just stick with Glam Bag and GB Plus. I have to get the shade names and colors to be able to use this pallet!

Well that completes this post and happy with what I got! I’m happy to try out more Murad since I’ve been having good luck with their products so far Nomad Cosmetics Tuscanny Intense Eye Shadow PalletMurad Nutrient Charged Water GelLovecraft Beauty Lipstick in FaustaAraceli Beauty Chiquita Blending Brushand can’t wait to see if the Nutrient Water Gel will be on sale during the next 21 Days of Beauty
Space Case Cosmetics Items
IBY Beauty Enlighten Palletlike with the AHA & BHA Cleanser and the Essential C Moisturizer. Glad to try more items from Space Case and now a new brand with a brush. I’m waiting for my GB Plus to be shipped which should be this week but I am waiting on BoxyCharm to arrive to see what I got in there and they do have their choice coming up this week. Hope you all are all safe like I am since Florida’s under lock down and don’t forget to check out Nerdy SHique Transmissions while you’re at it! Until next time! Stay beautiful!

The Subscription Satelite: Ipsy Glam Bag Plus March 2020

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I got one more subscription box!

Ipsy Glam Bag Plus March 2020!

This box was disappointing and I will get into it once I start writing about each item! This box is the next one up from the regular Glam Bag and its $25 a month and you get full-size items from many high end and luxury brands and even independent ones while you’re at it! Let’s see what I got and what I need to say!

The Balm Cosmetics Auto Balm Shadow Pallet in Pic Perf: Let me say this in why my box was disappointing. This month with it being the hundredth bag for the regular bag I did get six items but half of them were the wrong item and this was one of them since it was my choice item. As you know I get to choose one of my products every month and I chose this eye shadow pallet. It has seven shades including a black eye primer to darken the shadows to make them smoky. I did not get this because they sent me the other Auto Balm pallet which was a blush pallet called Cheeks to Go. I knew something was up because I looked at the description for the shadow pallet. I was mad even with how Seeing A. I. told me each item that was wrong. I am waiting for the replacement for this shadow pallet so I can try it. This shadow pallet retails for $26.50!
Phase Zero Makeup Liquid Lipstick in Under Cover: Next up is one of my products I did get and it’s from Phase Zero. I got these guys in a bundle and of course as Add-Ons and glad to get one of their liquid lipsticks in this box. This is a mauve rose color that claims to stay in place once it dries down and doesn’t smear all over even while drinking. I am putting it to the test with today with friends visiting and it was pretty smooth to apply and very lightweight which I was surprised. Let’s see how it goes and I will let you know in my Review Roundup! This retails for $16!
Glam Glow Tropical Exfoliating Daily Cleanser: Next up is another item from Glam Glow and don’t worry me did get this in my box too! This is a 2-in-1 cleanser made with tropical fruit particles like pomegranate seeds, tropical fruit enzymes, and fruit extracts. Also purple clay is used to help with deep cleaning the pores too. This is also paraben and silicon free. I do need another exfoliating cleanser since my Murad one is my only other one left that I got in my big haul box from Ipsy during November and can’t wait to see what this does with my face since I do use it twice a week. This retails for $34.
The Coffee Scrub Coconut Scrub in Coconut: Next is an item they screwed up on and that is the Coconut Body Scrub from Coffee Scrub! I started getting into body scrubs all thanks to this one since it is supposed to help with getting the moisture in your skin by scrubbing off the dead skin and even dry patches which I got the new HEMPZ Sandalwood & Herb Scrub from Ulta. Guess what they gave instead? The HEMPZ Body Moisturizer in Pineapple! I know this sucks which one thing that annoys me about the body moisturizers from HEMPZ is that they are really thick, I had a hard time pumping the sensitive skin one when I first got it which I think they should be in large tubes like the scrubs in my opinion or in tubs. Anyways, I am waiting on my replacement since I heard the packaging is supposed to be an envelope and that is what I didn’t get. I also heard this scrub is famous for clogging the drain which we have one of those drain sifters to catch hair and other things so I will see if it will catch the scrub which the HEMPZ one dissolves pretty well. This retails for $21!
Complex Culture Precision Concealer Brush: Next is another brush from Complex Culture and glad they sent this to me too. It is a precision concealer brush and I find this interesting because it looks like a triangular paint brush! Not kidding! You can create stamps with this but you can use it under your eyes, the side of your nose and the corners of your face! I will be using this to blend my concealer or just use powder on my under eyes since I tend to do that before my entire face with a big powder brush and do like the feel of these bristles! This brush retails for $26.
Seraphine Botanicals Luna Liner: Final item that is also screwed up in shipping out my box is the Seraphine Luna Liner in black. What did they send me instead? The Hey Honey Concealer for Under Eyes in Light Medium! I love Hey Honey since I did enjoy the moisturizer from my Glam Bag but this was a big oops on Ipsy’s part because they know I was supposed to get another black liner with claims of being smudge proof. They said it’s a liquid but I have to see how the packaging is like since I tend not to use liquid liners due to how bad they run back in my ye olden days of makeup. I do use the precision liner brushes to put liquid liner on which I did with the Wet N Wild Midnight Mermaid liners as an example. I will use the concealer though since I want to try more Hey Honey items. This liner does retail for $18.

When it comes to add-ons, I did pick up another Violet Voss Fun Size Pallet and it’s the Crème Broulle one and it is due to how I like the other two I picked up this way and glad to see another one available. I did get the Illumasqua Hydro Veil Primer because I also enjoyed it and how moisturizing it felt. And the final one is the Maulle Beauty Essential Brush Set as well since it’s something I do enjoy which is brush sets. This is a five brush set. Glad that they sent these as well. My overall review though after this box I felt that I can’t believe after having it for almost a year that this happened which half of the items were wrong. Hoping with next month going forward this doesn’t happen again. I am not the only one who had this done to them because I saw someone on YouTube having their BoxyCharm items switched out for other things too which I don’t get how that happens. Ipsy, if you’re reading this, pay attention to people’s profiles with the items they get each month. I think it was someone who packed mine and got everything mixed and thought I was getting these three items instead of the ones I am supposed to get. Again hoping April is better.

That is it guys for this post! Next up will be my review on RWBY Volume 7! Stay tuned!

THe Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm March 2020!

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe! I am back with another post!

BoxyCharm March 2020!

Now it’s time for my BoxyCharm for this month! This box is $25 a month and you get from prestige all the way to luxury products ranging from ones you find in the store to independent brands. You also get to choose a product every month for this box! Let’s see what I got this month!

Murad Hydro Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for Eyes: First up is a product from Murad and it’s my choice item! This is the Murad Ultimate Moisture for Eyes which is an eye cream that helps with fine lines and wrinkles and has a blend of hyrolonic acid and algae extracts to moisturize the eye area and great for sensitive skin. When I saw this as a choice item I had to try it since the other item happened to be a curling wand and sorry my hair is already curly so don’t need that. I have had pretty good experiences with Murad since they are well known for being good for sensitive skin and I believe it. I am still using the AHA and BHA scrub in my shower and have used up the Essential C Moisturizer and now get to try this out. This retails for $70!
Hank & Henry Living In Color Pallet: This month there were three shadow pallets and they were the Tarte Tartist ReMix Pallet, the BoxyCharm Hello Charmer Pallet, and this one the Hank & Henry Living In Color Pallet. I’ve heard of this brand and I got the eyeliner in my box a few months back but didn’t like it due to how the chisel tip was not working out for me but glad to get this pallet! This is a nine pan pallet that is inspired by both the 90s and 2000s and it can be worn on their own. I have to see what shades are in this pallet to see if I want to do certain looks with it. This retails for $27.
Pharmacy Very Cherry Cleansing Balm: Next is a product from Pharmacy and it’s their Very Cherry Cleansing Balm. I have used the Green Clean and got that as add-ons with my Ipsy and this time I got this version which is the cherry one in this subscription. Like the Green Clean it takes and melts makeup off leaving skin silky smooth and moisturized. When I tried the Green Clean my second time I noticed how my eyes stung a little bit which I am hoping this doesn’t happen with this one so I have to see how it goes! Glad to get another makeup cleansing item so I won’t have to stock up so soon! This item retails for $34!
Vintage by. Jessica Libersteind in Pink Sequin: Next is a lip gloss from a brand I’ve never heard of and it’s Vintage by Jessica Libersteind and the lip gloss is in Pink Sequin. This gloss is a sheer and glittery formula that you can wear alone or on top of other lip products. I prefer using a sheer lip gloss over other colors to give it a pop since my lips are a bit on the natural side and have to see how well it pairs with lipstick or liquid lipstick. This item retails for $25.
Project Beauty Haircut Almond Honey Intense Hair Yogurt Hair Mask: Final item is a hair mask from Project Beauty! I haven’t gotten a hair mask in so long since I’ve stopped using them especially when at certain times of the year I tend to get dandruff scabs even when the spring starts and have to start using the dandruff shampoo again. Which I have to do that right now and so far it’s doing okay. Anyways, this is another brand I’ve never heard of and this makes is made with yogurt protein, probiotics, kinwa, botanical and shea butters to help repair the hair. I will definitely use this since I do sometimes feel a little bit of dryness and can help strengthen my hair a bit. This retails for $10 which is not too bad!

Well guys that is it for this box! This was a pretty good box and glad I didn’t get anything from KVD Vegan Beauty. I know she is no longer with her brand but it still has her initials and you know my stance towards her lip products which are too drying for my liking. I’m glad to try out a new hair mask, a new lip gloss, the cherry version of Pharmacy’s cleansing balm, and of course something new from Murad which I do have some eye creams I am going through right now. I’m also glad to try another thing from Hank & Henry too since the eyeliner was not my favorite so I will definitely give them a chance with this pallet. I did select my choice for April and can’t wait to see what they give me for that since it’s an eye shadow pallet from Zoava and never tried them before. I hope BoxyCharm also gives me the card next month since I contacted them about that and no answer. I may have to bug them on Instagram or Facebook. Next will be GB Plus which I’m mad about and had to contact Ipsy about it too, just stay tuned guys!

Also, in case anyone has been following Nerdy SHique Transmissions, I haven’t done an episode last week due to what had happened to Omni Fandom Expo so I will be doing another and will give my thoughts on Corona Virus myself since now we are going into lock down too at work. Stay tuned for that episode.

The Subscription Satelite: January & February 2020 Review Round Up!

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe. I’m back with another post!

January & February Subscription Round Up!

I know I was going to do my review on a book but have been running a little behind with posts so bear with me! I decided to do this first since this is the end of the month after all! I did say I was going to start doing this with telling you guys what are my thoughts on each box for every two months!

BoxyCharm: First starting off with BoxyCharm and I have to say that the first month of the year it came off strong with the makeup items. I was able to create a full face with the Ace pallet, the Wonder Beauty Blush and Bronzer Duo, and the Too Faced Highlighter, and the Mana Kadar lip gloss, even though that ran out pretty quickly since it felt like there was not enough product in the tube. I felt it dried a bit too much and that I felt it was not that great and threw it out. The sleeping mask from Advent was okay, I felt like I didn’t get too much moisture and it kind of stung while I put it on. I am not sure if it’s due to the amount of skin care I use or my skin is not ready for a product like it but it did make my skin sting a lot while putting it on every night and was okay for the rest of the night. I think skin care that costs over a hundred dollars is not as cracked up to be when people keep on saying the most money you should be spending is on skin care alone. I’m sorry but I spend drugstore prices and $25 for one moisturizer and I’m good all around! Plus, all the sheet mask packs I get from Ipsy are around $15 so I don’t have to spend so much. I did enjoy the other three items though, people did like the look I create with the Vintage Dawn pallet from Ace since I was doing a pretty neutral look with it alongside the Trip for Two Duo from Wonder and the Too Faced Highlighter. I hope that they keep doing the same idea for more boxes like this because it works!
February, on the other hand, I got more skin care products than makeup which I’m not too mad but the only thing that sucked were the hemp wipes I got in the box. Those did not clean off my makeup like they were supposed to since I notice my mascara, even my Lash Princess Waterproof, stay behind and yes I do go in with the First Aid Beauty Pads but I needed more cleansing when it came to my makeup afterwards. The brand Evio should make these better as in make them moister or make the hemp stronger to make them able to clean off makeup. So, I have used them to wipe my brushes while using them. The First Aid Facial Pads are pretty good in case if you’re wondering. I do use them after cleaning my makeup off and then shower. I may have to start buying these! I did start using the Ciate London powder since I finished up another and man it smells good and it does set the face really well! I feel great after blending my powder and it does stay well all day even after spraying it with the setting spray. I haven’t used the Becca foundation yet but will eventually! I do have to talk about the Alomar brushes because I have found that people on what’s up in Makeup group had issues using these actually. According to some people they aren’t able to blend their makeup very well but I’ve been having really good luck with mine. I’m not sure if it’s due to products other people have been using or it’s what they’re using them for but I had no issue controlling my makeup application. I guess I have to keep on using these!

Next up is Ipsy since it would be easier to talk about the base bag. I didn’t use the nail polish I got in January’s bag yet because I didn’t have any time to do my nails. January and February have been busy months for me so it was hard to find a night to do my nails. I did use the other items though! I used up the Hempz Moisturizer but what I found off about it is that it’s so thick it’s hard to squeeze out even towards the end of the bottle. I have the Sensitive Skin one since Ulta does sell their products and still had the dry patches and wanted to try that formula it was hard to pump out at first since it came with a pump. I don’t think I will re-purchase because they make it so thick that it’s hard to get out of any container they put it in even with a pump so not spending my money again on their stuff even if it’s travel size. I did enjoy the Nomad shadow and the Ofra highlighter and of course I do use the Finding Ferdinand lipstick sample since it’s always in my makeup bag whenever I wear it at work and need to touch up.
February had it strong though with the Colored Rain lipstick! This is a great lipstick and now see why people liked this one because all I have to do is dab it on and go on with my day! I just put a little sometimes and just go with it because it just goes on smoothly. I did find it annoying is that it was seen as a Chinese dupe. If you’re not in the know but recently Not So Evil Stepmother talked about how BoxyCharm had a Chinese dupe of the Fairy Tale Cosmetics pallet in their December box and it had “Made in the PRC” which means the People’s Republic of China. She went on to say that these items were made in BoxyCharm’s labs in China to make the surplus of product they need but wrong! Sometimes a brand has their products made in China to meet demand even if made in the U. S. She mentioned how this lipstick was one of those and she mentioned how these products did not perform as their original counterparts. This product stayed on my lips and did have to apply again after eating something but that’s normal with any lipstick out there. I will buy another tube of this product and see what happens when I do since these aren’t really expensive. I haven’t used the hand cream though since I’ve still have some tubes of it being used, I have used the powder brush though and enjoying it. While the shadow, I felt it was a little dry but it did go on well pretty well since I did use it in my inner corners. While the face primer from IT Cosmetics, it was nice but I feel that it needed to be a bigger product because it was so tiny that I was done in two uses! I had more uses with the Tarte Shape Tape Primer when I had that sample though. I think I gave it a lower score than usual.

Glam Bag Plus: Now finally Glam Bag Plus! January’s bag was really good since I’ve enjoyed using every single product! I was surprised with the sheet masks from Duft & Doft because I thought I got two but they were two packs of three in each so I got six! Man Ipsy you spoiled me with these! I did use two so far and they have been working out with my face and not too harsh of an ingredient mix either. I have also been enjoying the Brow Kit from Billion Dollar Brows and no it’s not as bad as the Brow Bar Pallet I got in my December BoxyCharm. My brows feel like my brows with this one. It’s an easy to use kit and the brush is even really soft once I get the gel in to set everything. I did notice more items to choose from from this in March’s box but I didn’t select the pomades because I want to see if they give me one anyways. Let’s see how that goes. The eyeliner from Sugar was really good as well. I’ve been using it for work and I’ve had an easy time applying the liner when I use it. And the Huda pallet in Ruby is pigmented as the others I’ve used from her shadow pallets. I hope they keep giving these out since they are a great product and it’s a great brand!
Like with January, I did get more sheet masks in my February GB Plus. This time it’s from Avette and I felt like it did sting a little when I wore one of the masks since I got four of them. I notice some of my masks do sting a little because they’re working into my skin as the timer is running but I do leave these on a bit longer than expected since my skin’s so dry and needs that extra hydration. I do use sheet masks twice a week where I do it on Tuesday and at the end of the week to heal my skin after a long work week. I will have to keep using these and hoping to get more masks in this bag or my regular one. I did put the Inkliner from Il Makiage in my rotation to see how well it works on my eyes while I got to use my Sweater Weather pallet yesterday and those were really good shadows. The Laruce brushes have been working out pretty well with what I’ve been using them with. And with the Murad moisturizer I have to say it’s been working out for me very well. How so? Well, after my GB Plus post I decided to try it out without makeup and then with it on top to see how my skin reacts. Without makeup it didn’t get irritated at all which was a good sign. It didn’t get irritated either when I put makeup on and set it with my setting spray and even went outside to get the sun which worked out really well. So far so good my skin is liking this product but the price point is not making me want to buy it but I will try others if they’re meant for my skin type. And oh right, forgot about the Jules Smith lip glosses from January! So far I have finished one and enjoyed it but wishing there was more product in the tube since I’ve been liking it.

Well guys that is my round up on the boxes for January and February! So far so good the first two months for all three have been going great. I feel like with Ipsy in the choices for March though were kind of lacking so had to choose something that I would like. I will see what they picked for the rest of my bag since GB Plus was a quick one for me. I am looking at the BoxyCharm website for now on because since I don’t get the emails but I do watch it like a hawk so I won’t miss choosing something. I did get something since one item was a curling iron but I only go for flat irons since my hair is already curly. If I have to give it to one box for these two months I would say GB Plus because I felt their products were really good with what they’ve given me and I was almost skeptical with the Murad Moisturizer but it did work out in the end. I will have to see what March and April bring for these three! I will have the book review next! Sorry for being behind but things did happen over time. Until next time!

The Subscription Satelite: Ipsy Glam Bag February 2020!

Hello to all of my beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! Time for my last subscription post for this month!

Ipsy Glam Bag February 2020!

So, this bag came the day after my previous two boxes did and like with GB Plus, you get five deluxe and sometimes full size products in this bag and it’s also from prestige to luxury and sometimes indie and drugstore for $12 a month!

Colored Rain Liquid Lipstick in 24/7: First up is a product from Colored Rain Cosmetics and it’s their liquid lipstick in 24/7. I remembered how Nikkie Tutorials said that these lipsticks are amazing and agree with her! These lipsticks hardly budge and they stay on for a long time. This is a rosy nude color which is perfect shade for work and I don’t have to worry about re-applying since I do teach and it would stay on even when I have water. I’m glad to try this formula since I wanted to after seeing them at Riley Rose when they existed a little while back. Oh well! Hope to get more of these in future bags!
IT Cosmetics: Primer + Oil: I am going to stop at this since it has a long name. Why do brands give items really long names I don’t know! Anyways, this is the first item I finished in my bag because this tube was TINY! I am not kidding. I thought this was the hand cream which I will talk about later but had Seeing A. I. tell me with the Short Text Channel that this tiny tube was the primer. I wish it was bigger because the bag was the same size as the GB Plus Bag and would be perfect to get a primer the same size as the hand cream. I did use it and found it pretty tacky not going to lie and had to wet my sponge to blend my foundation. I found it did keep my makeup on but didn’t feel anything else special with this one. Not my favorite item to try but it did help in keeping my makeup on.
The Beauty Crop Fine apple Powder Brush: Next up is a powder brush by Beauty Crop! I’m glad to get a powder brush from these guys since there are times I need a quick powder brush in front of me without leaving my vanity. It’s really nice and soft and decently sized for what they’ve sent me. Nice change from all the eye brushes I’ve received.
Petal to the Metal in Shift to Overdrive, Turbo: Next is my choice item in this bag and that’s The Balm’s Petal to the Metal shadow in Shift to Overdrive, Turbo. It’s a cream shadow in a rose gold with silver sparkle and you know I love rose gold and when I saw this as a choice I snatched it! When I got it it looked different from what I imagined. When I think cream shadow I think to a small screw topped container but nope! This came in the signature Balm sampler packaging as in those tiny books! It’s decently size but I feel it is a bit dry. I wished they put it in a container because cream products even shadows do dry up. I’m sorry if I sound negative but that’s my only issue with this. I will try and use it as usual.
Merci Handy Hand Cream in Hello Sunshine: Final item is a new brand I never heard of called Merci Handy and glad to try these guys and it’s a hand cream which is a bonus. My hands do get dry even due to the hand soap at work so this will be great to use. This hand cream has almond oil and it contains little emollient beads to help with the extra moisture which I can’t wait to try this out. Apparently it also has a citrus smell. I will have to see how it goes!

I found this bag kind of okay because of the primer being okay and the Balm cream shadow being in a different packaging than I hoped. I hope I can use it on my eyes at some point in time. I wasn’t totally disappointed because I did get two add-ons which happened to be the Violet Voss Berry Burst pallet which is the Fun Size ones which made me happy. And of course I got another Pharmacy Green Clean because I loved it and hasn’t broken me out either. Helps with the makeup cleaning a lot! I did enjoy the lipstick though and excited about the hand cream and brush. I think the items in GB Plus had a bit more oomph and hoping March to be better since next month they’re celebrating their hundredth bag which can’t wait to see what’s in store for that one! What’s next for Nerdy Shique Universe? Another RangerStop Panel! Stay tuned for that. Also announcement! I will be reviewing Traverser’s new album on Nerdy Shique Transmissions instead because I feel better if I do that live rather than just writing about it so stay tuned for that! So keep an eye out on all major platforms where you get podcasts! Until then guys, stay beautiful while traveling the vast universe!

What’s In My Ipsy Bag! August 2014

Hello everyone and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Today I received something awesome in the mail and that is my very first Ipsy bag!

I bet you’re wondering what’s Ipsy, it’s a make up subscription service where samples of make up and some skin care, hair care, and other items get sent in a make up bag every month! It costs $10 a month and you get f-6 samples according to some people that have gotten this service and I am glad to be a part of it finally! I was interested in it ever since Eleventh Gorgeous does their Birchbox Vs. Ipsy every month and I really liked what they got in Ipsy and wanted to try it out!

So, this month’s theme is Beauty Schooled, which makes sense since a lot of people go back to school around this time of the year and a lot of states both in public school and college start in August again and I like the theme.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: First up is I got the Urban Decay Perversion mascara! I took a look at what I was going to get and was excited that this was going to be in my bag! I feel like Ipsy kind of read my mind since I got the Urban Decay Naked Basics pallet and since they do send out products from this company, they sent me this mascara! I have been branching out into mascara lately and been getting a few, which I have the Miss Manga, of course the Ulta Voluminous one I received in the free pink bag I got when the 55 piece make up set came out back in June, and I redeemed my birthday coupon for a free CK One mascara at Ulta yesterday since I got that coupon on Monday and surprised that it was a big size. This one, I heard about it in some videos since some of the people I watch on subscriptions or through haul videos have this mascara and according to Ipsy’s page on this is that this mascara is creamy, it also voluminizes the lashes and make them bigger with one stroke, and also blacker! I never tried Urban Decay mascaras and I have been into mascaras a bit, maybe this will be a nice one to try and it will be my first time to try. The normal size is $22 at Ulta, I think it’s also the same price at Sephora, but at least I get to try this out for a change and see how I like it. Some subscribers don’t get this in their bags because they vary depending on the bag for some people and the other UD product they gave out was a pencil eyeliner I believe since I saw one video for the August bag and they got the liner instead of the mascara. This would be fun actually!

Coastal Sense Blush Sample Duo: Next is a Coastal Sense product and it’s a blush samp;e! It is a tiny duo and it is very tiny! I hear that Ipsy gives actual size products sometimes and even though this is a sample size, I am not sure I will be using it. I am not a blush wearer, I think I only used it once to test from my big Ulta 66 set but haven’t worn it, but I did have Lancome do a makeover on me once at Macy’s and was itchy later on since their make up is not much a great thing for sensitive skin people like me. I am not sure if I want to try this out since I did hear how awesome Coastal Sense is from Make Up Freak since she gets their eye shadows a lot! She also ordered other products but the video didn’t show that part of it last time, but hey at least I can check out what she’s talking about even if it’s a teeny tiny sample! I just took a try and it feels pretty powdery and light even when I swatched one of themon one of my cheeks! May have to consider them.

Jersey Shore Mogongo Lip Conditioner: Next is a lip balm! I know I have tons of lip balms since I am a LipSmackers horder! If you saw my big tin from Lush, it’s filled with all of them! Don’t worry, I am still using them! This is something different and never heard of before and it’s from a company known as Jersey Shore Cosmetics and it’s from their Sun Line which is pretty much for going to the beach and it’s all natural cosmetics! The item I got is the Migongo Lip Conditioner, which is supposed to be anti againg but at the same time they might send the anti age version to some people and the non-anti againg one to others, since the bags do vary! I tried it out and I like the feel! It’s not too greasy, it’s light! And I like the scent! I may have to use this after I finish the Pink Sugar Shine I’m using right now! And any cruelty-free buffs out there, these guys, Jersey Shore Cosmetics, are cruelty-free and use all natural products and they do have items for both adults and kids! You can find out more at jerseyshorecosmetics.com!

Lord and Berry Silk Cajal Kohl Eyeliner: A new eyeliner for me to try out and it’s from a company I sometimes hear but not a lot and it’s Lord and Berry! This company basically started on the runways of fashion shows in Milan and have been making products out of raw materials and use simple packaging. I can kind of see why with this baby! Literally a small pencil but it is the same size as an ELF books you get during Christmas, that kind of disappoints some people since it can be used pretty fast, hey it’s a samole and it is a trial size after all. I did swatch it and it feels smooth on the skin! I can see why it’s silky! I am not sure if I will buy a full size after I use it, but it’s not bad! I may get more in other bags to see how it goes. You can check them out if you want at lordandberry.com.

Paula’s Choice Clear Ultra Light Daily Matifying Fluid SPF 30+: That is a lot of words! The last item in my bag is from Paula’s Choice Skin Care! I never heard of this brand until now. I tried seeing about who they are but the site doesn’t give me much except the person who started it and they are Paula Begun, that’s it! I did take a look at the description on the Ipsy site and it’s basically a moisturizing for break out proned skin and keeps oil from going crazy and minimizes pores and it also acts like a sunscreen! A lot of people go for products like this for the SPF factor and here in Florida it makes sense. I may have to try this out when I go for walksJust squeezed some out. Careful in not squeezing too much but it smells like sunscreen, not the strong stuff, just a light smell and it does feel light and not too greasy like most SPF products! I will have to give this a go since during my summer haul I did mention I am using the Biore pore strips due to that gross, oily feeling I feel on my nose and may help if it doesn’t make my skin go crazy with the sensitivity!

My verdict: I kind of liked this bag minus the blush but I like how it’s a variety of products! It is my first one after all and it did impress me! I know I will be using the mascara, the lip balm, the liner, and moisturizer definitely, the blush since it felt nice, I may try it out and hoping they send me more Coastal Sense stuff! I am hoping I hear about September’s bag soon! Also, the bag, it is cute, it reminds me of a pencil case with how round it looks and I remembered school shopping years ago when they had pencil cases that were round! I may have to use it at some point! Not bad Ipsy and can’t wait what Eleventh Gorgeous gets with their bags since they tend to get different items for the both of them! You can subscribe to their YouTube channel, Facebook, and Twitter, which I should go and find that account since I have Twitter all thanks to Ipsy.

And if you want to subscribe to Ipsy if you are curious little kitties like I was, you can go to www.ipsy.com and take the quiz to customize your bag and join, it costs $10 a month and mention that JupiterKitty85 sent you since I do get 250 points for you guys subscribing if they do have that on the quiz.

What is next? There is faves for July and August! Stay tuned!
