Haul: Ulta and Target!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! Well, still working on the Ipsy and BoxyCharm post since my BoxyCharm hasn’t arrived yet due to timing making it look like my box will be here today but because of President’s Day it meant no mail, so it won’t be here til tomorrow! In the meantime, another haul and this time it’s from Ulta and Target!

Ulta: So, this time with Ulta I was on the prowl for new NYX items and they sent me another free deluxe coupon for the Perversion Mascara! I haven’t finished my sample from Ipsy but hey it’s free and I do like the Perversion mascara and it sure beats paying for the price for a full size, even though I may get it at one point. I tried going to the Winter Park location since they carry more items but they didn’t have any of the new Intense Butter Glosses and went to Altamonte and man they were picked off by vultures!

I was glad to get my paws on at least one of the Intense Butter Glosses and that is in Napoleon, which is a peachy nude color and thought it would look nice since I do love my Peaches N Cream and Peach Cobbler glosses from the original Butter Glosses. I wanted to get Berry Streudel, Toasted Marshmallow, and Spice Cake but all they had left were the testers and Ulta can’t sell them. Sucks! I guess doing the buy one get one half off on lip items during the weekend really wiped them out! I did have better luck with the High Voltage lipsticks which got me interested through Color Swept Beauty! I tried finding the one she loved, Dalia, but they sold out like crazy! A lot of them were out of colors but I did manage to get one called Privelege, which is a pink color, and Rock Star, which is a light red and a nice way of going into reds. I did try going for Hollywood, which is a darker red, but they sold out of that one, there is always next time when they restock on everything and after a while the new dies down. I also was happy to get my paws on two of the new Prismatic shadows which they had a lot left of and got two colors that Color Swept Beauty mentioned and they were Tin and Punk Heart! I also remembered Tati mentioned Punk Heart since she was given some of the newer NYX stuff by a friend and knew I had to get this one because it’s a purple shadow and I do go for them because of my cobalt-hazel eyes. Tin is a silvery one that is a bit darker and it would also bring the gem green in my eyes from what people say when it comes to silver shadows on me. I may have to use this if I ever do my Ice Pokemon Trainer cosplay. And the final item is a cream blush, which I was sad that the Altamonte location didn’t have the new blushes in when Mondays are when they get a lot of new things delivered but the blushes that were new didn’t come in but I did decide to see what the blushes were like and picked up Rose Petal, which is a nice pinky shade! Good to try something I never tried before and NYX blushes are one of the things that do get pretty good reviews time to time from what I seen on YouTube. I will have to see with the restock!

Target: With Target, tried jump on the Easter LipSmackers since apparently some places started stocking all the spring and Easter items on Valentine’s Day, which is odd especially my mom saying some places started doing that a week earlier. I was hoping to get my paws on the newer Easter LipSmackers but was a bit too early and they haven’t stocked them yet! I did go into the make up section to see if the NYX section had the Intense Butter Glosses but didn’t, they just had a small section with the normal items! I did go into ELF to see what they may have new and all I found was two lip items and I got two lipsticks! One is matte while the other is a regular one. One of them is Rich Red and that’s the matte and the other is Rosie Go Round and I do like the lip items by ELF since I had the lip gloss set from Christmas! And then I got the 32 shadow set by them and I heard this from another YouTuber who got this and she recommended that people should get this and glad I found it! It costs $6 which is amazing when you normally find pallets like this for more than that! I did get one more item that I forgot to get while I was at Ulta and I finally gave in and got the Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara! ::applause:: I heard so so so soooo many good things about this mascara that it kept perking my kitty ears like no other! Oh yeah, kitty became curious and had to get it! I may have to wear this sometime this week or the next to try it out! Also, I did get the package with the free retractable eyeliner and packed it with my make up to take back with me to Daytona so I would have a back up black liner! I may have to grab my other black pencils as well before then!

That is it for this haul! I know it was short but hey I got a lot of new items and glad to try them out! I will have the Ipsy and BoxyCharm post up and another announcement…looks like Nerdy Shique Universe will be heading for Anime Festival Orlando, so look out for any convention spotlights for this year’s convention! Stay tuned!

New Haul of 2015!

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! I am back for a bit since I’ve been busy in Daytona and now on break until I go back for more stuff. I know I was going to do something on a plushie maker but having a itty bit thing to be fixed before I do it, so in the mean time I am bringing a haul for you all!

Not only I have beauty stuff, I also have some stuff from Hot Topic to mention!

Hot Topic: So, Hot Cash ended last month, well the last week of January and well I didn’t use all my coupons this year. I ended up with four, which was pretty funny! December was when they gave them out and the first one was when I got my newer Rise Against shirt and Harley Quin robe, I know what you’re thinking, Hot Topic carries robes now? Sort of since of course it’s winter and this thing was a perfect release for the cold and man it’s been cold in Florida, especially this week with Valentine’s Day! Back to it, the With the total from that purchase got me two Hot Cash coupons and then the other two was the Monday after that when we all went as a group and got the Kiki’s Delivery Service throw blanket because the blankets in the dorm I was staying at were thin and not warm enough and this thing was the definition of warm! It was also the last one that day and snatched it before anyone gets it! It’s of the cat Geegee from the movie and a friend of mine found a little beanie with cats and snowflakes on it and it says “Meow!” It was so cute! Cute as my Hash Tag Meow one from WalMart. Then I mentioned to the guy that he forgot about my HT One points and made it up to me to give me a second Hot Cash coupon with the first and then had four! I gave one to Gondras since he needed more shirts to wear besides the ones I got him for Christmas and in the past because he loves them so much and he ended up getting three Doctor Who ones and one of Firefly, which was the first show Nathan Filian did before Castle! What I did get with the two I used were the coffee mugs of Attack On Titan and Deadpool!I haven’t gotten anything more in Deadpool for ages since I get Gondras shirts of Deadpool and of course we have the game and when I heard the Sanford location had this mug along with the AOT one, called Sanford because Daytona’s location sold out of them, I wanted it! If only the boxes that they came in didn’t have that easy to slide out thing because I wouldn’t mind having the cast of Attack On Titan sign it at Omni! With the second one, I did get the newer Avengers shirt for Age of Ultron, which the guy working that day let me buy it before anyone else did along with a Guardians of the Galaxy shirt of the members animated! Loving it! Besides Hot Cash, during the time you spend it you got coupons for “Get $10 off of a $40” purchase and that started the end of January and went through last Sunday and I used one of them, which I don’t know what happened to the other, oh well! Anyuway, I had a hard time deciding until I was glad to get what I got! The thing was when Gondras visited me last, he told me that there were jackets based on the AOT ranger jackets  minus the patches and I decided to see if they fit me in the XL but it didn’t! It was tight around the shoulders and I have linebacker shoulders! Made me sad! Anyone know anyone who can make me one in my measurements? Just saying! I was happy to find out that they had the messenger bag and you know me with these things, got it! I had to find something else to get to meet that amount on the coupon and almost got another item of AOT until I remembered Gondras mentioned that Hot Topic started making stuff based on Harley Quin and perfumes based on her and the Joker, which I picked up a bottle! I am obsessed with it! It is strong at first but when it goes through the day it gets sweeter and sweeter, it makes me smell it like crazy! I think I found my cat nip! What made me puzzled is that they were starting Hot Cash giveaway again! The girl told me they won’t start til April and now will get a call about it since they do courtesy calls now. Start racking up the Hot Cash if you can!

Other Things: Some other things I did get while in Daytona before I got back to Orlando include two things from Mac! I have started getting into it a bit more but getting it a little at a time since it is expensive. I started with the Cream Cup lipstick back in December all thanks to so many YouTubers talking about it and decided to try it out! I did pick up another YouTuber pick and was lucky to get it since it was the last one and it’s the lipstick in Cream In Your Coffee! It’s more of a brown nude versus Cream Cup being a pink one and these babies are very creamy! I think this has been a very popular one at the counter due to it being the last one when they just got a new shipment of it in when I went and glad I snatched it in time! I am also using it and loving it! Then the other thing is the blush in Gleeful! I started with Danty as my first blush by Mac after hearing Coffee Break with Dani talked about it on her channel and wanted to see how they were like and after getting it, I love it! When I was told that rose colored blushes are also perfect for my skin tone I decided to check and see if they sold a rosy tone and they did and that was Gleeful! I haven’t used it yet but will be! Other items I did pick up include some stuff for my professional wardrobe such as a pair of pearl earrings and a necklace from Claire’s because of their $5 sale on jewelry and did get a top from JCPenny as a nice start to it! Yes, Mari Blue Cat is growing up!

Ulta: Now onto the fun part! Yesterday I went to Ulta after a job fair because I not only get the favorite “$3.50 off of a purchase of $10 or more” but got a coupon for a deluxe size of the new Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash mascara and was like, “Yes please!” Not only I got my paws on that I did get the full size of the Marc Anthony Argon Shine hair spray (I know the name is different but too long!) from Ipsy. It was funny the girl thought I wanted the small size, which I shown her what kind it was, and told me that they didn’t have the small only the big one and I told her that’s what I wanted. This is one reason subscription boxes, especially Ipsy, come in handy when it comes to trying products and then buying them in stores if they get carried there. I will see if the Waterford location, which I where I went to due to the Florida Mall location closed down, carry Jay Cat stuff next since I do like the Wonder lip paints and did redeem my points for one and may have to try other products.

Besides the hairspray, I did get a few other items and they were drugstore items and one of them is something I kind of was not on the bandwagon until now and that is the Maybelline Rocket Mascara! I have tried mascaras from Rimmel, Jordana, L’Oreal of course with the Miss Manga, ELF, LA Color, but not Maybelline. When I kept on hearing so many YouTubers rave about it, I had to try it out for myself and got it in the black color, Blackest Black I believe. The packaging is interesting when you get it, which the brush is not in the tube. I was afraid that the mascara was dried out if there was nothing to seal it until I opened it when I got home and saw the cap that was used to keep it fresh and not dry, I was relieved and put its brush in and it looked like a rocket! I can kind of see why they did that due to how long it would be in the original packaging and Maybelline wanted to keep it simple, very clever guys! The next product was something I wanted to find in Maybelline but couldn’t find it until I went to L’Oreal and it’s a gel liner in black! Normally I use black liquid liner and lately I have been using the black liner that ELF placed in their Disney Villain books but slight problem with that is they run! When I put it on Monday, Gondras saw a streak run down to my cheek and he thought it was because I was laughing too hard to the latest thing he shown me and he had to help me out to get it off. Another problem is that it transfers if you aren’t careful when putting it on, so to not face this again I decided to toss this with the other two and just stick with liquid liner from someone else or gel liner and decided gel liner! I went with the Carbon Black one by L’OReal because Maybelline ran out and it was popular at Ulta, so dropped by L’Oreal because I love their blue one and may have to get the purple one since it is so easy to use with my liner brush! The last item is the new NYX color mascara in blue! I heard about these from a YouTuber while watching a new Ulta haul and decided to check it out! I never tried NYX’s mascara but I do love their many tons of products like the eye shadows, liners, lip stuff, but never tried the mascara and this is an interesting twist! So glad they decide to release these for a year round thing since colored mascaras are a Halloween thing and I believe they were around in the ‘90s. Welcome back to the scene!

WalMart: Last stop is WalMart because I had to get more printer paper! I print a lot of stuff and my resume took a good portion of the rest of my paper along with the coupons from Ulta. I did pick up three make up items and wasn’t expecting to, one was one I needed and that was the Rimmel Shine Top Coat! When I painted my nails Saturday, I didn’t know my Sinful Top Shine dried out on the brush and became goopy and was hard to brush on! I tossed that out along with the old Quick Dry after buying my new bottle and kind of kicked myself for not getting the Top Shine while at Walgreens that day. I was hoping to go back but then I heard Rimmel made a good one and it dries in 60 seconds and decided to see if I can find it and I did! Great thing about it, I reapplied the Ruby Ruby nail polish since it was chipping already by last night, I used the top coat and you can hardly feel the glitter! It pretty much seals it in and does dry pretty fast! This has become my newest, fave top coats! I will still get the base and the quick dry from Sinful because those still are my faves!

Another product I got from Rimmel is something I wasn’t expecting to get because I was trying to find the new Provocalips lip glosses that Eleventh Gorgeous talked about but I did get the newer mascara they made and that is the Rockin Curves from the Scandaleyes collection! I own the Glam Rock one and loved how great my lashes felt with it on and funny thing was I wanted to find this one until my dad read the “Broken Heart Brush” part on the packaging and went, “Wait a minute, you said Broken Heart Brush? Is “New” on the package?” He double checked and told me it did and grabbed it! I was glad to find it after hearing about it on YouTube! This will be interesting to try out with how well the Glam Rock mascara worked well. I think I got this one in Extreme Black since it only comes in this shade and just Black. I don’t know why I’m in a mascara craze! And the last item is another thing I didn’t get on the bandwagon until now and it’s the CoverGirl Lip Lava in Live Love Lava! I heard about these from Color Swept Beauty and then Eleventh Gorgeous talked about them and had to try them! I did almost get one for my professional make up bag for when I go to have an interview or working or other things like job fairs but the reds didn’t suit it according to someone who used to be a make up artist before she got her eye condition, I did get Rimmel’s Captivating for that. Anyways, I did still have an interest in these and like how they were described and apparently they were almost sold out due to popularity! I was happy to get this one to try it out and didn’t want to stick to just the pinks or purples this time around. The nude one and gold one did sound interesting but the kitty ears gravitated towards Lip Love Lava and it’s a nice red to start with! CoverGirl should make more of these and more for the Colorlicious collection later on!

Ipsy Me: Last item of this haul just arrived yesterday and that is an Ipsy Me offer I picked up last week and it’s from Pacifica and it’s their Solar Color Mineral Pallet! Another great thing about Ipsy is you get e-mails every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday now, it was every Tuesday and then switched to every Tuesday and Thursday and now it’s three days and that different make up companies that were featured in Ipsy over time give deals through Ipsy to have Ipsters get them at a lower price. If you remembered a few posts back, I got the Ofra Cosmetics shadow book through the Ipsy Me offer and man it was worth it since that thing is usually $80 on Ofra’s site and got that for $60 less and forgot to mention, like the Ipsy bags you do get free shipping with the order. I would suggest joining if you want to get make up discounted! This thing by Pacifica was $20 as well and it is a nice product for that price since it normally runs $35 on their website and you can’t beat that! This pallet features one of the products that was given to all Ipsters last month and that was the Coconut Mineral eye shadows, which I did use mine once and liked how it felt and did still like their Gunmetal liner pencil I got from them in my Ipsy bag and glad to get this to expand on my curiosity with Pacifica!

This pallet includes six of the Coconut Mineral eye shadows, which you can only get in pallets according to the Pacifica page that was on Ipsy last month for these things, and it does come with the shade I got in my bag, Treasure, along with Neptune, Sandalwood, Coral, Mermaid Aqua, and Glow. It also comes with a blush, a bronzer, and three highlighters. I  am slowly getting into highlighters, especially with using the Mana Kadar highlighter I got in last month’s bag and did like the one that came in my Beauty Treasures set from Ulta, I’m slowly getting into it. I may not use the bronzer, might use it as a blush instead to have a brownish  peach tone like my Pin Up blush by Hard Candy (it does look a bit deep peach almost by what my eyes can see) and the shadows are natural and pigmented! If you’re into going for more natural looks and don’t want to splurge on a Naked pallet and/or want something more natural less chemical-like, I would say get this, especially where you can smell the coconut oil in these because these are the coconut infused products they carry! It is also a nice start to your collection and great for that person you know who are looking for the more natural stuff and this really got me, especially with the blush and eye shadow! This is also pretty nice to travel with if need be since it’s in a nice book pallet. I did notice a nail polish deal yesterday but with all the nail polishes I own and glad to come home to, I don’t need any more for now! I still want to finish some of the products I do own and so far so good finishing what I was able to. Anyways, if you want to join Ipsy and want to see all the offers you can get, head over to Ipsy.com! I did leave my referral link in my December Ipsy and BoxyCharm Time to help this little kitten out in replenishing her points!

Well, that’s it! I am going to try and do the plushie maker post soon and of course waiting on Ipsy and BoxyCharm to arrive, according to the Ipsy Twitter, they just started shipping! And an update on Omni Expo, just filled out the forms for press and me, Gondras, and Nerdy Shirts are waiting on updates about that! So, that’s it!

Favorites: November and December 2014

Hello Shiquers and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! It is that time again! It’s Favorites time and this time it’s November and December! Damn this year is flying and 2015 is right around the corner! What do I have this time? Well, I have been using a lot of stuff while I was off in Daytona since I had to buy things I needed and tried new stuff, even have a few fave stuff from Ipsy! Let’s see what I got!

Ulta

Beauty Treasures Set! First fave of the month is the Beauty Treasures Blockbuster set that was purchased a month ago! I really love this set because it came in a nice caboodle travel case and it had three layers to it! The first layer contains an eye shadow pallet of 54 shadows I believe from cream shades to sparkles, which have a nice transition shade or wear on their own, and then smoky for that dawning for a night out! Then the second layer contains a highlighter, bronzer, powder, two shadow primers, which I use whenever I use this set, two double ended eye pencils, two lipsticks, and two lip glosses! And the final layer contains crystal eye shadows, gel liners, six of them to be exact, eyebrow powders, and an eye shadow quad! Yeah, that sounds a lot but worth it! I love Ulta’s blockbuster sets because they are affordable and contain a lot of stuff and very easy to travel with when on the go or staying someplace, or to be that make up artist you want to be! What sucks is that this set is no longer available, I think they sold out or not making it anymore but I would point you to EBay which a lot of people tend to sell the sets. I would also keep a look out if you want to scower the website! Plus, they do make more blockbusters in every few months! Which I did find this one better than the Glam and Go one that I almost bought and it was the newest, but this one had the better value and stuff and it did give me a nice golden and sparkly look for holiday gatherings! Which is another nice thing, you can use the crystal shadows and highlighter for holiday looks!

Cream blushes in Berry Glow and Pink Glow! One thing I like about Ulta’s make up line is that they tend to have good sales on their products even if people go nuts at the Altamonte location sometimes, like the buy one get one free that happened yesterday and might still go on, still they have good deals! Around the time I came home for Thanksgiving, Ulta had their items for $5 and I went a little crazy and two of the things I got and been liking are their cream blushes in Pink Glow and Berry Glow! These things are pigmented and they are lightweight! As in, you don’t have to use too much to apply and I tend to use a tapered brush from a set I got at WalMart and it goes on smoothly that way! It does add a nice glow and doesn’t feel cakey and this is one item I want to get more of. So hoping it doesn’t get discontinued like the cheek stains!

Star Looks

Crystal Eyeliner in Ultra Olive! An item from Ipsy that I loved and still using is the Crystal Eyeliner pencil by Star Looks in Ultra Olive! I was actually happy that I got this in my bag last month and couldn’t wait to try it while waiting my chance to head back home for Thanksgiving to play with my Ipsy goodies! This pencil glides on very smoothly and it looks great with earthy greens and the Esmeralda eye shadow I swapped for during October. I may have to find the Obsidian pencil that Star Looks made that did come in bags before since I did try swapping for that but was out of luck and one Ipster changed their mind on me at very last minute, but Star Looks makes good stuff and I love this liner! Not sure if I will purchase it when I run out, that is a big maybe, at least I got to try it out!

Be A Bombshell

Volumizing Mascara! Another Ipsy goody and it’s from the October bag and that is the volumizing mascara from October! I don’t get why some Ipsters complain about some of the items that show up in their bags and October had the biggest complaints by what I saw and this month’s, even though it was an okay bag I admit, this was one product I did love! I never tried Be a Bombshell before and glad that Ipsy and BoxyCharm (I am a subscriber of them as well) have products for members to try out. I was glad that I got the mascara and it makes my lashes feel soft and make them longer! Also this was a full size product and glad to get it. I am hoping I get more mascaras from this brand since they are good, I was even glad to try out a liquid lipstick by them through BoxyCharm.

Ofra Cosmetics

Eye Shadow Ipsy Me Offer! Another item I got through Ipsy but through their Ipsy Me offers. If you don’t know what that is, it is where Ipsy sells certain things from companies for cheaper prices like this past month they had a Noya lipstick holiday set and even a curling iron as an offer, and so many others. One offer that got my kittiness curious is the Ofra eye pallet that has 20 shadows and it normally would cost everyone $79.99 but that day it was $28 and decided to pick it up! I heard good things about Ofra and I can see why because these shadows are so pigmented and they glide on very smoothly! I did read using a primer will make them pop more and I’m so glad that I did pick up the City Color Primer pot and can’t wait to use that with this pallet! I did use the earth toned shadows with my Star Looks liner for Thanksgiving and did a smoky look with it as well. What was also neat is that these shadows are magnetic, so if you have one of those Z pallets, you can pop them in there or just move them around in this pallet.

Urban Decay

Smoked Pallet! Another great deal I picked up was of course the Urban Decay Smoked pallet! I talked about this in my “Best Ulta Buys” post because the price dropped on this pallet to $29 from its usual $49 price! Why do I like this pallet? Like my Naked Basics pallet, this pallet has easy to glide on shadows and it does come with a nice liner pencil from their 24/7 Glide On Pencil line and a small tube of their primer, which I use with this pallet and the Naked Basics and then my Naked 2 Basics pallet, the colors are amazing! I have fun coming up with nice smoked looks with this thing! Good news people, it is also restocked, so check Ulta and Urban Decay’s website to see if they still have any because this went and sold out quickly and knowing that they restocked since the day or two after Christmas, they will be gone like hotcakes! I would say hurry and get yours!

ELF

Blush in Pink! An ELF product has entered my favorites for this month and that is the pink blush that they make! It is the one that almost looks like an eye shadow compact and I like it! I always ghea good things about ELF’s blushes and knew I had to try them out and since I’m an ELF fan, these guys are amazing with what they make! Even their lip glosses are amazing which I picked up one of their holiday sets for this year. So, way to go ELF!

Band and Song

Born From Ashes! So, lately I’ve been into a new band that I caught at a show recently with my buddies of Traverser and Soul Switch and they are known as Born From Ashes! I never heard of them and didn’t get to see their set because Gondras had work the next morning but did get one of their CDs and listened to them and loved them! Orlando has great music to offer and these are one of those bands that do it! I did want to see Leaving Haven to try them out again but due to how bad traffic was and parking was bad we missed them. At least we got to catch Soul Switch and Traverser! Always next time guys! Born From Ashes, you do get the Paw Print of Approval because you are amazing!

“Strike Back” by Back On! Newest song in Fairy Tail I got addicted to is by a band called Back On and the song is called “Strike Back.” I was happy that these guys did a song for one of my all time fave series since I was a fan of the group from when Air Gear first came out around 2007 with the song “Chain” and they did songs for other anime like Eyeshield 21 and Murder Princess. This one was a surprise and it you guys won’t hear it until Part 14 or was it 15 comes out to America but if you want to hear, you can probably download it. Still support the official release of the anime like I do guys!

Books

Cut and Run by Lara Adrian and Tina Folsom! I recently finished a double book bundle that Lara Adrian and Lisa Folsom wrote and they are the first two books in a new series known as the Phoenix Code and the first two books are known as Cut and Run! Lara wrote Cut while Tina wrote Run and I think that’s how they decided to do it with these books, as in bundling one with the other and Lara writes the odd numbered ones while Tina does the evens since the next two, Hide and Seek will be the same way! This series follows how the Phoenix Project, a group of guys with ESP powers and work for the CIA, are betrayed and get the message through a vision of “Phoenix Down!” and all members hide and try to not be in the open because assassins would go after them. While hiding they do have women that come into their lives and start romances or like Ethan, already started one. The first book, Cut, was the one I liked more than Run because it wasn’t as predictable in my opinion because it shows how old lovers reunite and since now they are both in danger they have to be on the run now! They do meet the two characters in the second book but I felt the story kind of went a bit low towards the middle despite Scott being a great character and how he and Phoebe came to be, I feel Cut had a better story in my opinion. I hope the next two books are as good and four is a bit better than Run because I read the premise of that one it makes me wait for it even more and hoping that has a suspenseful twist like Lara’s book and books. I did find out Lara is going to be releasing her next Midnight Breed novel and novella next year, which I can’t wait to keep reading! I did read Tempted by Midnight and it was okay, not as good as Marked but it did close an open story on one of the other vampires who lost their breedmate, but can’t wait for the next books!

Not-So-Faves

Pixie Dust by Pixie! I had to mention this because not only I had to get a replacement, but it saddened me that there was no glitter in this thing! Apparently this was supposed to be a glittery top coat to cheeks, eyes, and also brows, but Ipsy sent me one without glitter! I had to have Gondras take a look at my swatch and there was nothing and then my dad took a look and nothing, even the vial was empty! I don’t know what happened but I think there are some Pixie vials that didn’t have any glitter. If you guys got this thing in your bags and had the same problem, I would like to know. I hope my replacement has glitter this time! So glad I didn’t fall for the Ipsy Me offer!

Well, that is it for my faves! What is next? Well, the Bests and Worsts of 2014! See ya guys!

Beauty Review: Urban Decay Naked Basics and Ulta Matte Prime

Hello everyone and welcome back to Nerdy Shique Universe! I missed doing a post on here since my Favorites post for July and August and the Forgot to Mentions along with the post for new people to Ipsy. If you are new to Ipsy or want to subscribe to Ipsy, I suggest read that post known as “To the Ipsy Noobs!” or was it “For the Ipsy Noobs,” forgot the title for a moment. Anyways! This post is a review post on two products I started using recently and they are the Urban Decay Naked Basics Pallet and the Ulta Matte Prime. Let’s get started!

Naked Basics Pallet by Urban Decay: I know what most of you are thinking is that I am behind on this product and I am. I haven’t gotten any Urban Decay products due to high price on their Naked pallets and I wasn’t sure if I would like the shadows but when I found out there was a cheaper way of getting into Urban Decay products and that is by picking up the Naked Basics pallet, which yes, I brokedown and got it during my birthday month and did have points to spend, which I am happy that I could use that. It sucks that Ulta can’t allow coupons to be used on this line, even though the guy said it depends on what can it be used on. Anyways! This little pallet is a pallet that contains six shades that are matte and they are full size according to what Ulta said on their site and apparently they changed the packaging to match the newer Basics pallet that got released, the Naked 2 Basics pallet which I watched Grav3yard Girl review, which the one I have is a regular clutch look with the words raised but now it is more suede with a gold embossing. I can see why it’s $29 now. The shades in this pallet are Venus, which is an off white and it’s the first shade in the pallet and then you go to Foxy, which is a more of a bisque color. Then you have Walk of Shame, which is a very light nude color which kind of comes off a bit bronzy by what my dad saw when he guided me through the colors due to how I can’t see them, which is a nice crease color, of course next is Naked 2 which is a taupe color which in my pallet is bit of a grey. I think it is a greyish taupe if you get this pallet and I think it’s also in the Naked 2 Pallet and that gives a nice smoke to the crease. Then Faint is next which is a dusty brown and finally Crave which is supposed to be a black or a very deep brown but it is more black.

What do I think!? I love the pallet! I never gotten any shadows from Urban Decay until now and the sites don’t lie when it says that the application is very smooth and they are very smooth, even when I dip the brush into the pallet it felt like my brush was touching velvet rather than rough sand! It was also easy to put on and don’t need to put a lot since these shadows are very pigmented as well. I used all six, which Monday I had Foxy, Naked 2, and Crave to do a smoky eye, then today had Faint, Walk of Shame, and Fame to go with a nice outfit I was wearing to a luncheon that Lighthouse Central Florida held and thought a nice nude eye would be perfect. Now I can see why so many people rave about this pallet and one good thing is that it’s so compact and easy to carry and travel with if you need a on-the-run nude or smoky eye.

Is it worth it? I wish they kept it at the $28 even if they changed the packaging. I know Urban Decay wants to be hip in their looks but raising the price by a dollar is not right in my opinion when I knew in the past it was $28. I would say if you’re an Ulta member, you should use the points on this product since you can’t really use coupons on Urban Decay products depending what it’s excluded. Still, I can see why it’s worth getting is how the colors are pigmented and very smooth to put on the lids. I may have to pick up the second one since of course don’t want to go high end crazy and this is a good way to go and also gives newbies in Urban Decay a first taste of what the products are like if they want to dip their toe into the water when it comes to the company. I may have to try this with the Perversion mascara that I got with my Ipsy bag last month to see how well it looks.

Ulta Matte Prime: And now onto the other product! Now speaking of Ulta, now it’s time for one of their cosmetic line items! I never used primer on my face until I tried this because of my sensitive skin always wants to be a brat, especially when I used the Paula’s Choice moisturizer with SPF from last month’s Ipsy as a base, which was a bad idea! Yeah, around my nose it burned after application and left redness in the crevasses where the nostrils and cheek meets. I had to leave my skin alone with skin care items. Sorry Paula’s Choice you suck! So, I remembered that my little make up bag I got when I got that new make up set when it came out had a tube of Ulta’s Matte Primer and decided to try it out and crossed my fingers that my skin would hate it! Guess what? It didn’t! Why? It has ingredients that my skin can stand! I took a look at the product and found out that it has salisilic acid and that is best for sensitive skin which my Clean and Clear toner and facial wash contains and my Stridex acne wipes contain as well. All thanks to this item my skin is getting better little at a time and don’t feel like my make up bothers me as much with this underneath.

Is it worth it? Yes if you’re willing to get it for the price, which is $18! It is not bad considering that it has ingredients that doesn’t bother my skin and I have to go a bit high end for certain products that don’t bother my skin like my Celestial moisturizer as an example. Still, this stuff works and it is worth it, especially with coupons for online and in store when you get this. I wish the size was a bit bigger but since I don’t go out a lot now, it keeps me pretty well and I don’t have to use a lot to put on my face. Plus, when putting on all my other face make up, it doesn’t feel like it sticks in certain places as in very smooth application with the beauty blender and brushes. I would say for anyone with sensitive skin, get this item! I know there are pricier primers and of course we want to spend less at times and not all primers or moisturizers have ingredients that work well for us.
