Subscription Satelite: Ipsy Glam Bag July 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with the last subscription post!

Ipsy Glam Bag July 2020

it’s time for my Ipsy Glam Bag and it was the last to arrive. Even though I didn’t get any add-ons this month but didn’t get shipped until after my GB Plus did. This bag is $12 a month and you get sample sizes of brands ranging from drugstore, indie, prestige, and luxury. You also get a makeup bag like with GB Plus! Let’s see what I got this month!

Ciate London Hempz Citron & Quartz Body Lotion: First is another item from Hempz and it’s also another body lotion but I will be using this for my hands. I’m happy to get another one of these but the issue I have is that towards the end it gets harder to squeeze with how thick the product is. Not only this has the usual hemp seed oil that helps with hydration but it also has citrus oils  and extracts to help protect the skin from aging and apparently it’s good for applying after you shave your legs. I have to try that since I tend to use our blades from Dollar Shave Club and yes the shave butter is really cooling but I still have my dry patches. This also has quartz crystal particles to light up the skin with some shimmer. I hope it is not too harsh since my skin has something that is glitter. I hope it doesn’t break me out!
Luxie 205 Tapered Blending Brush: Next up is another brush from Luxie and it’s their tapered blending brush. I do love their brushes and have gotten a few sets from them over time and I recommend these over Morphe due to how well they do the job. I will be using this to apply shadows or blend them after I apply my shadow look. It is so soft and it does fit my eye lid very well. Let’s see how this goes!
Space Case Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Space Food: Another eye shadow from these guys and this time it’s called Space Food. This is a shimmery silver and still has the same soft formula I know and love. I can’t wait to wear this on my eyes with a silver liner! I highly recommend this brand too!
The Balm Cosmetics Will Powdered Blush in Worth the Wait: Another product from the Balm and this time it’s a blush. There are times where I rarely get blushes in this bag. I mention on my profile I love blush and bronzer and it gets ignored sometimes. I understand so many items so little time. I am glad to get this in my bag this month but the thing is I wish they didn’t put it in smaller books because it’s hard to get a face brush in any face related samples. It’s best to do it with shadows but not face items. Please Balm Cosmetics put it in a compact like how Ofra does it for their samples for Ipsy. Anyways, this is a natural tone blush that is supposed to help wake up the skin with a trio of plant extracts and not made with any harmful ingredients. Also, it’s very easy to blend. I will have to try this out since I have tried the blushes in the Rock 1 and 2 pallets I have in my makeup collection and have enjoyed what I’ve tried so far.
Ciate London Watermelon Burst Hydrating Lip Oil: Finally my choice product is a lip oil from Ciate London! I have been into lip oils because my lips do get dry even while teaching or not being able to re-apply my lip product either after a nap or after eating. I was surprised that this came in a small tube but not hating it though. Apparently watermelon extract is also supposed to be good for hydration on the lips. I have seen a lot of watermelon skin care from different brands and glad to try this out from Ciate since I have been a fan of their products for a few years now.

Well guys that is it for this month’s Glam Bag! I wish the Balm would give bigger compacts for their samples when it comes to face products because there are times where I use a big blush brush myself. I may get the item full size if I do enjoy it. I can’t wait to try out the eye shadow I got from Space Case this time since I have enjoyed their products for years as well. I will have to see how the Hempz lotion will go since my skin can get a little sensitive on the body to some sparkle. Let’s see what happens in the Review Round Up next month! Also, can’t wait to see what my birthday month holds for all my subscriptions!

Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm July 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with a new post!

BoxyCharm July 2020!

My BoxyCharm arrived and it arrived earlier like my Glam Bag Plus! I was surprised it also arrived on a Sunday again since FedEx delivered this while I was having brunch. I am not complaining since I’m happy to get this earlier even before my Choice Day on Tuesday. This box is $25 a month and you get five full size items from prestige and luxury brands. Let’s see what they sent me this month.
Skin Club Vitamin C Booster: First is my choice item for this month and it’s from Skin Club. It was a hard choice this month because there were two other serums, one was for lashes and the other was from Skin 111 but it was pollution protection so I decided on this one. This is the Vitamin C Booster Serum and it is supposed to help brighten the skin and fight against aging and also help protect against UV Rays. This is so important especially with how hot it gets here and everyone is social distancing at the beach now that getting that UV force on your skin can be harsh. I’m glad to get this and try this out. This retails for $49.95!
Hourglass Arch Brow Micro Sculpting Pencil: Next is something from Hourglass and it’s my first time trying them. I remembered one of their highlighters was on choice but didn’t choose them since my curiosity was not peaked into trying their formula out. I guess I don’t get too interested in luxury brands like most people but let’s see what this pencil is all about. This claims to create super defined brows with the super fine tip to make it look like you got micro bladed without the blade. I have to see how this goes since I do use brow products to keep my brows in place, especially towards the front where it can be bushy even when I maintain them but it’s good to get a brow pencil time to time. I thought it was an eyeliner but glad to get this instead. This retails for $28.
Pur Cosmetics Festival 2.0 Eye Pallet: I remembered getting the first one and glad to get the sequel! Like the last one, except that one had more mattes, this one has shimmer but more shimmer. This pallet has twelve shades like the last one from what I remembered and glad to get this one since I didn’t get a pallet last month. This retails for $36.
Hank & Henry Lip Love Lux Lipstick: Another item from Hank & Henry and this time it’s a lipstick. This lipstick is coated in a shimmery coating and it dissolves as you apply it. It is also stored in a ruby red container and it leaves a satin look or a moisturized sheen on your lips. This retails for $17.
Lavish Quick Dry Color Switch Cleaner: Final item is from Lavish and it’s their ever-so-famous Color Switch. When I saw this in my box I thought BoxyCharm Played a joke and sent me an empty tin but opened it and saw this and scanned the card to find out what it is. This is supposed to help you clean powder shadows off your brushes and it retails for $20.

That is it for this box! I’m actually happy about this one. I feel that they did this one better than the last since I mentioned how I felt that they threw my box together and sent it to me. I did tell them about how the Purlisse CC Cream was in my wrong shade and they apologized and gave me charms for it. They also explained that the shade chooser based on profile is still new to them with complexion products and to me that they should have gotten it down since they sent the foundation and concealer cards months ago. Glad that was resolved. Anyways, I will have to see how the pallet fairs since I did like the last one from last year and this one is the new one that they made. I have to see if they have a shade description for all the shades in this one and see how different it is. I am glad to get a new brow pencil to try out since I am using my Billion Dollar Brows Kit still and of course glad to try a new item from Hank & Henry and they have not gotten back to me about the Living Color pallet. I may have to find out some other way. And of course glad to try the color Switch since I do use a lot of powder shadows and will see how well it cleans off my brushes as I use them. I can’t wait to see what is up for choice this Tuesday and hoping its better because I felt with choice this time for July it was meh! I love skin care but I remembered there was more variety to choose from and I understand that they didn’t have much due to the pandemic but hoping its better this time. Also, I can’t wait to see what I get in my box in August!

That is it for this post! Glad that my box was better this month since the items were ones that I would use. Let’s see what August brings since it is my birthday month again. I am waiting for my Ipsy to arrive so it should be here this week. Until next time!

Subscription Satelite: Glam Bag Plus July 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with another subscription post!

Glam Bag Plus July 2020

It’s time for Glam Bag Plus again! It arrived earlier than it has been which I guess it’s due to not getting any add-ons this month since nothing really caught my eye. I almost got the Jackie Eina pallet from Anastasia but that brand has not intrigued me because I have so many similar color schemes. I do want to support Jackie but not Anastasia. She does give good tips with press on nails which I will take some of that to heart. Anyways, this bag is $25 a month and you get more full-size items alongside a cute makeup bag. All I have to say is that this month was more makeup and one skin care item which I will tell you what they are!
Midflower Hyyarolonicc Acid Sheet Mask Set of Three: First is something from Midflower. I have loved their sheet masks since I bought sets of these from the Ipsy Offers page and they have helped my skin. When I found out I was getting these I was so excited and I did try one out for my sheet mask night. Hyaluronic Acid is very hydrating for the skin and it holds a thousand times its weight in water and this helps with keeping the skin dewy which I agree. I didn’t know this was thirty minutes for a mask but it did help with twenty. I would say if you haven’t tried anything with this acid try twenty first and then move up because you never know with what your skin can react and how it reacts. A full size pack of these are $15.
Il Makage Color Boss Multi-Dimension Eye Color in Eyes on the Prize: With this month’s choice items you could choose one of these babies but I didn’t choose any of them because I had a feeling I would get one anyways and I was right. I would have chosen the color I wanted but wanted to have more fun with what they chose me and that was Eyes on the Prize. This is a shadow that glides on like a cream, blends like a liquid, and finishes like a powder and the color is a light, metallic gold shade which I don’t mind at all since my eyes sometimes have a gold hue in the center. You can also use this wet or dry depending on the intensity you want. I have to try this out then and see how I like it! This retails for $29!
Tula Protect Plus Glow Daily SPF 30 Gel: Next is the skin care item and it’s also SPF related. Perfect timing too since we are in the middle of summer and I’ve been using a Glow Recipe sleeping mask with retinol in it. I heard of Tula all thanks to BoxyCharm and didn’t get that product in my box last month but got this in my GB Plus instead. This is a lightweight gel that gives a sheen and protects against the harmful rays of the sun. Not only this has probiotics and pineapple and papaya extracts to help with moisture but also has wild butterfly ginger root to help protect from UV Rays. Interesting on that ingredient which I will research now! Actually it’s also known as white ginger which grows in summer and fall and gives a white lily flower with a slight aroma. Interesting! Full size tube will cost $36 retail!
Real Her I Am Amazing Eyeliner in Black: Really Ipsy? You gave me a brown eyeliner and gave me another black one this month. You Okay besides the usual won’t budge and will stay on for twenty-four hours, this one is more of a cream formula that will glide on like butter! I have to put that to the test whenever I start using these liners again because my work makeup kit is being filled up with these pens. At least I don’t have to buy eyeliner pens for a while now. This retails for $16.
Tarte Surfer Curl Mascara: Finally my choice item and happy I chose this one because I wanted to try this one for a while now. When I heard Surfer Curl I was curious since I used to love surfing as in a fan of it. This mascara is supposed to make your eyes wider with the making lashes curled and also it contains Vitamin E and Sea Algae. Perfect name for this since this is good with its vegan formula. I have to put this to the test since I do have the Stage One Primer but still using my E. L. F. Lash Primer at the moment. I am glad to try this out so I didn’t have to purchase it at the moment and will come back for my Review Round Up on this. This retails for $23.

That is it for this post! This month’s box was pretty good because its summer and we need a good SPF even when trying out Glow Recipe for my first time and my skin has been holding up with SPF products so far so good. Been using my SPF Moisturizer from DSC. Also, when I look at it with summer you don’t want to wear heavy makeup while being outside in the hot sun. Some people said that this box sucked on one YouTube video but I think the choices were fine. I like the idea of a hybrid shadow , also sheet masks to moisturize after cleaning off the makeup and the skin being dry, of course I get to try a new mascara I wanted to try for a while from Tarte and see how it works. I am really happy with what I got and glad that the bag is not too tiny either because I have noticed that some of the bags for GB Plus have been a little small for a few months and the Glam Bag was bigger. I am using the bag with all of my items I carry in it. Apparently my BoxyCharm is close and see if it comes sooner than the tracking says. You will see the post soon! Until next time!

The Book Quadrant: Nemecene: The Versal Arts by. Kaz LeFave

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe! I am back with that book review I promised!

Nemecene: The Versal Arts by. Kaz LeFave

Disclaimer: This review is based on the thoughts and opinions on this ARC that was sent to the writer of this blog. Please respect her thoughts and opinions on the writing that the author has released. Please and thank you!

In this episode, we find Elize and Keeto now fugitives and living among the Gatlins that have been for their innovations to help human kind may have some treason from within. After her death experience and leaving it behind, Elize has some anxiety left within and Keeto’s journal is the only way of answering her waking questions that she may have. While living in this village they are officially introduced to Segari, Zefarion’s mother, and get to know her while their best friend is missing.

During the time in their village, Keeto is continued to be trained in the Versal Arts by Izonnis, who was the pretend scholar at the Museum of Antiquities for some time and has challenged him during his practice and be able to understand who or what they are. Just when they have serenity in this village the Unification factions come and disrupt it by coming after Elize and Keeto as their bounty. Will they escape this time?

Thoughts: I was able to read this with a better speech rate because I started reading with a newer app on my I Pad. During the pandemic there was a sale on the Voice Dream Reader which is another PDF reader app for visually impaired people can use and enjoy books even in other formats. I was glad to try this out with this episode of the series because it felt more clear when it read. I will be using this app for any remaining ARCs Kaz may have as I keep on reading this series.

I did like the slight time skip in between this episode and the last because I thought that something worse may have happened after the last episode but at least the both of them got to live somewhere more peaceful than and as advanced as Edinburg was.

I’m glad that Stitch’s mother behead a bigger role this time because when she was introduced in one of the earlier books I felt it was kind of short and I thought something had happened to her that caused Stitch to act as he does but with him missing in this one and how Elize hopes to find him I am not sure if he is alive or dead like how they thought. I did find everyone’s interactions more fluid because it feels that this episode is more of showing some of the truth but not all of it. Elize is trying to get over her anxieties after being in that dream state last volume and then Keeto is trying to get over those troubles by writing it down but Izzy, since they called him that in the beginning, wants Keeto not to focus on that so much. Even though Keeto still makes his journal entries and I’ve been noticing how he has been trying to help Elize but Izzy always had him training to focus on what’s around him and not in the journal due to how traumatic it was the past eighteen months. I did notice how Keet’s attitude did change since not only he is going through some fierce training yet I notice that he wants to go and just stay in the cabin because it’s safe, he doesn’t want to be at the evening rituals in the area, he wants to go back and write in his journal more despite Elize always pulling him into these things. It’s like he wants to stay in one place but he needs to get out in order not only be better about himself but also stay strong for Elize after her death experience.

Now onto Izzy! This guy was someone I did not notice while reading the first few books but when the description for the book mentioned who he was I think I remembered. I felt while reading this book that he was a bit of a jerk but he was doing his duty for everyone in the village as their main guy. I do notice he has a love/hate relationship with Nepharus and Nithruyu the most since they are still protecting the twins from being taken by the Unification factions even though he thinks they will be taken anyways. I do like his interactions with Keeto the most since he has that idea he wants Keeto be stronger in the mind and just focus on his surroundings. I did like that one of the challenges he gave to Keeto was to climb the mountain on his own which did cause him to be late for the festivities. If I were to pick anyone to voice this guy, I picture him to be a bit young maybe Dante Basco would fit since I kind of have a bit of a Prince Zuko vibe off of him.

Rating: 5 Shooting Star Paws Out of 5! I feel as though that this book is starting to develop the story even more as we keep reading each character’s side. I feel with the next episode that we may finally get to see Stitch again or see what had happened to Elize and Keeto as in this is what happened next instead of just a time skip. Who knows, the writer is the one who weaves the story and Kaz has been doing a really good job. I feel with each book I am there in the room for each moment as the story goes on. Even with Keeto’s journal I feel the pen he is using and hear his thoughts as he puts them down and with Izzy having his talks with Nepharus and crew. We have to see what happens next with the story and how Episode 6 would look!

Well guys that is it for this review! I’m glad to read another volume in this series and hope to continue with it. With the next few books they will be from the same series as in one after the other from another author. Until next time!

Subscription Satelite: Ipsy Glam Bag Plus June 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe. I am back with another subscription!

Ipsy Glam Bag Plus June 2020!

Finally my GB Plus arrived! I am not sure why it always gets delayed like this but glad I got this in time for Ipsy Choice! This bag is the second tier where you pay $25 a month and you get more full size items from more prestige and luxury brands also even more independent brands in skin care, lifestyle, and makeup. Plus you still get a bag in this which is slightly bigger or smaller than the Glam Bag. Anyways, I did get some pretty sweet items this month since it does balance with what I got in my Glam Bag. Let’s see what I got!

Huda Beauty Basic B Sponge
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminizer Primer
Araceli Beauty Ojos Perfectos Eyeliner

Huda Beauty Basic B Sponge: First up is an item from Huda Beauty and it’s something I didn’t know they had and that is a blending sponge! When I got it I thought it was from Juno & Co. since the sponge looks similar but the butt is rounder than flat like the Juno sponge. This sponge lets you have streak free application where the flat side can be used to tap foundation and CC Cream all over while the smaller side is used for concealer. This sponge retails for $17.
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminizer Primer: Next up is a product from Dr. Brandt and this time it’s the Pores No More Luminizer Primer. I remembered trying a mask from these guys and glad to try another item from these guys. This primer helps skin defuse pores and help them become minimized with tea tree oil and lentil seed extract to create a perfect canvas. Can’t wait to see how this works since I’m still using my E. L. F. Pore Putty and now using the sample of the First Aid Beauty primer I got in my Glam Bag. This item retails for $38.
Araceli Beauty Ojos Perfectos Eyeliner in Coffee: Finally an eyeliner that is not the color black! I love black eyeliners but getting them all the time was getting boring and glad to get this as a change. This is a pen liner that is supposed to be long lasting and can create major wings with. I hope to get more colored liners like this because that was a breath of fresh air. This retails for $16.
Purlisse Blue Lotus 4~in~1 Cleansing Milk: Next up is another item from Purlisse and that is their 4~in~1 Cleansing Milk. I think I remembered trying a similar one from these guys back in January 2015 and man that was really gentle! This is a sulfate and soap free multi-tasking cleanser that cleanses, tones skin, removes make up, and soothes the skin all at once. This uses soy milk, soy protein, and white tea in this formula to help people with dry and sensitive skin. I really want to use this! Screw what I’ve been doing to clean my makeup right now because this sounds really good right now. (Sponge Bob Voice) Five Minutes Later! I am back! Okay, I tried this and I felt I had to still use the cleansing water to help get any remnants off since I felt some of the mascara primer on my lashes and I did feel clean afterward. I have to keep using this to see how it goes since I still felt slightly dry but skin care does take time to work not just in one day. This product retails for $36.
Laura Gellar Urban Garden Pallet in Central Park: Final item is my choice item for June. The only thing I tried from this brand was their Whipped Gelato highlighters and this is a first to try more of their items. This product is inspired by the hidden gardens of New York and it features a blush, a bronze highlighter and four neutral shadows, three mattes and one shimmer. This pallet has their items made with Vitamin E and grape seed oil to nourish the skin. I can’t wait to use this pallet since it is a good all-in-one pallet and would be nice to travel with. This retails for $14.

Add-On: Hanalei Sheet Mask Duo: Now onto the add-ons or shall I say the only add-on I purchased this month. I saw these among the add-ons and decided why not try more items from Hanalei and it’s their Face Sheet Mask Duo. This set has masks that are made with Hawaiian Noni Fruit Extract that helps skin become its full and plump self and also uses pineapple extracts. It even helps with dark spots you may have. I tried one and man it felt so good! My skin did feel really hydrated afterwards since the serum was also cooling after spreading it. I do have one more and will save it since I have enjoyed one mask so far. I wished they put their value though.

Well that is it for this post guys! I am really happy for this month’s box! Yes, it sucked that it took a bit to get to me but what can you do since it is still the quarantine and some areas are not all the way opened yet and some mail services are still feeling it. I have to keep using the Cleansing Milk since I did have to use my cleansing water to get any residue off my lashes or my face and so on. I can’t wait to use the shadow pallet and the primer since those got me really excited about the box. I know I will be loving the sponge once I start using it. I did make my choice for July’s box and can’t wait to see what else they choose for me since there were really good items but the one I got is something I was meaning to try so stay tuned for July! Next will be my May & June Box Round Up since I have tried most of the items and will let you know what I think! Until next time!

Purlisse Blue Lotus 4~in~1 Cleansing Milk
Note: Can’t really find a link for the Laura Gellar pallet! I think it was discontinued on Laura Gellar’s site.

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with another subscription post!

Ipsy Glam Bag June 2020

It’s time for Ipsy since it arrived today to my mailbox. It was supposed to be here Saturday but it got delayed. What else is new? Anyways, this month’s bag is interesting but it does balance out with my GB Plus which I am waiting for that to come in since I got really good products in that one but let’s see what I got here first. I did forget to mention in my Boxy post the price of that box but if you go back to my past posts on that you would find the price of the base box that way. This bag is $12 a month and you get sample to deluxe size and sometimes full size items from brands you may have not heard and want to try or may have heard and want to try new products by them. It’s a good way of experimenting especially with their bundles in Ipsy Offers.

Dewy Tree the Clean Lab AC Dew Foam: First up is from a brand I never heard of and that is the Dewy Tree. It’s a K Beauty brand that uses the innate healing to enhance the effects of the natural ingredients in their products which is interesting since the body does heal itself and good that we can use that with these products. Let’s see what this product claims to be. This item has a PH balance of 6.6 which is non-irritating and it will hydrate the skin and clean since it’s a cleanser that is very gentle on the skin for sensitive skin types to use. The addition of Japanese Umbrella Pine Extract and the its anti-microbial properties help get rid of any bacteria that may cause acne and the lather will happen on contact with skin without any harsh rubbing. I have to try this out since this is an interesting product to me. I never heard of Japanese Umbrella Pine before either. Apparently the Umbrella Pine is an expensive and rare conifer tree that grows slowly over time and apparently it’s small too. Also, it’s a sacred tree it is associated with Buddhism in Kyoto. My question is how did this brand get the extract though? Sounds interesting though but can’t wait to see how this works on my sensitive skin and I do feel my pores around my nose kind of clogged since it’s taking me a bit of time to get back into my skin care routine after being injured and now have my scar under my eye. Not kidding, you may see it in future videos and pictures of me.
Sur.Medic Azulene Soothing Cream: Another new brand I never heard of before is known as Sur.Medic. This brand is more of a First Aid type brand that uses solutions that are effective, easy, and accessible. This product has Sica that helps with itchiness and irritation in the skin. Also Azulene is used to help with the protective barrier of the skin to keep hydration in and bad things out. I will definitely try this out since I am getting back into my skin care routine again and it felt good starting it up again due to how bad it was clogging up near my nose. So, will have to see how this goes!
First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Pores Be Gone Matte Primer: Why does this brand have to have a mouthful with their products? Oh well! A new item from First Aid Beauty and it’s a face primer. This is a multi-tasking and oil free primer that helps with keeping makeup on even during sweat. This helps face products that are layered on the skin to be long-lasting and it also helps with skin concerns by smoothing them out. I don’t have oily skin but I am willing to try this out since First Aid Beauty is known for being sensitive skin friendly. I have been using the Facial Radiance Pads by them and it has been helping. I will have to try this out during my Facebook live stream then. Let’s see what happens!
Eddie Funkhouser Dome Blending Brush: I heard of this brand but never got any of the items in my bag until now and that is a domed blending brush. This brand was created by Eddie Funkhouser who is a veteran makeup artist, spokesperson, and an expert product developer which I can see why he created his brand. This is a brush that contains synthetic bristles that can be used with powder and cream products. When I got this I saw that it’s perfect for the creases in my eyes due to how small it is and it’s very lightweight too. I will definitely be enjoying this brush!
Sugar Cosmetics Matte as Hell Lip Crayon in Scarlet O Hara: Final item is my Choice Item for this month and it’s from Sugar Cosmetics! This was offered with other colors but I chose this one. This is a full coverage and highly pigmented lip crayon that doesn’t crease nor dehydrate the lips and stays fresh from morning coffee to evening. I have enjoyed products from this brand since I did get the Purple Rain eyeliner pencil when I got back to Ipsy and loved it and used it all up so now glad to try a lip product by this brand and can’t wait to wear it!

That is it for this bag! I found this bag pretty well balanced especially with what I will be getting in GB Plus. It is close to summer and a lot of people do tend to wear more skin care products since the harsh rays of the sun tends to cause some damage and we need to protect it. Especially here on the coast where we do have a lot of beach lovers and the sun can be really harsh! I’m glad to try two new skin care brands alongside a new item from First Aid Beauty and Sugar Cosmetics and finally getting to check out Eddie Funkhouser as well. Can’t wait to see what July brings for the bag since it is Independence Day and it gets ten times hotter here in Florida during July than June to tell you the truth. Stay tuned for my GB Plus because it’s supposed to be on its way but it hasn’t budged much and I did sign up for tracking updates to be emailed to me because I did order a Purlisse duo last month but never arrived and don’t know what had happened which I did contact DHL about it and nothing has come up yet which I will update you guys about that. Until next time!

Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm June 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe! It’s time for my first box subscription of the month!

BoxyCharm June 2020

Disclaimer: This post contains reviews and thoughts on the products of the writer. Please respect her thoughts on each item.

Well guys BoxyCharm arrived this morning. I bet you’re wondering how? Well, yesterday it was supposed to be delivered but around one in the afternoon there was a delivery exception in Sanford and they had to inspect my box at the FedEx facility it was at. Oh yeah, I even felt where it was slashed open by them which is on the right side of the box and saw one of my items opened too! What the heck? I know which one it was too and will get to that in a bit! This box was okay and I thought my card was last month’s card but I accidentally had it in the scanner, I sent Boxy an email before checking and had a major faux pas in my corner, whoops! At least I have the right card with the right items. Let’s see what I got!

Kiley Skin Foaming Face Wash: First up is from Kiley Jenner’s skin care line and it’s her Foaming Face Wash. This product is a luxurious face wash that is gentle for the skin and contains kiwi seed and Vitamin C to help with moisture and helps clean out dirt and makeup. I remembered there was a bit of controversy about this line that she had released where she made advertisements showing her using the items but not really using them. I’m sorry but that’s false advertising and even other brands and their commercial people did the same thing even the kid that played Eleven on Stranger Things apologized for doing the same thing with her products which I was happy she did that. To me as someone who has tried so many products and if I were to advertise for Kiley Skin I would do a video of me using this to clean my makeup at night since that is when I do that even I use these face washes in the shower to keep my face clean to give my skin care time to get in when I finish brushing my teeth. Anyways now to the formulation. I am worried about my sensitive skin reacting because I remembered Shane Dawson and Jeffree Starr did a video trying Kiley Skin products and Shane got reactions from it due to his sensitive skin and I concluded it’s not sensitive skin friendly but if this says it’s gentle then I would give it a chance. I may try this in between my Tony Moley tubes since I did purchase another tube of their Peach Juice Foaming Face Wash and will come back to let you know in a future review since my face washes last me a long time. This item retails for $24.
Purlisse Perfect Glow BB Cream SPF 30: First Purlisse product to get in this box and that is their BB Cream with SPF 30 and I got the shade Medium Tan. I am happy to get this since I am already a fan of Purlisse and that it’s meant for all skin types even my own but the shade is Medium Tan and afraid it’s too dark. Let’s see what the card says about this! This is a multi-tasking product that glides on like a tinted moisturizer and has the same age-defying benefits of sunscreen. I remembered in an interview that Jennifer Yen uses this item due to how she can’t wear foundation since the reason for starting this brand was due to the stage makeup back in the late 90s wrecked her skin and broke her out like crazy. I already put makeup on and not going to see how the shade matches but if BoxyCharm is going to look at profiles and surveys they need to really match people with their shade since they did start putting foundations in their box. I remembered matching with Cashmere from Becca and wondering why not this? I will see if there is a similar shade to mine if I want to purchase this in the future so will see what happens. This item retails for $35.
Lily Lashes Triple X Mascara: Next is my choice item and that’s from Lily Lashes! I heard so many things about this brand for its lashes but you know me I don’t wear lashes! Keep those things away from me! I did see they gave out the mascara and now wearing it. This is a lengthening, voluminizing, and bold mascara that has a tapered dual fiber brush that coats lashes with an ultra black formula. I have been using mascara primers due to how badly mine flaked into my eyes last year even caused me to be allergic to the E. L. F. Lash and Brow Gel Duo I used to love and when I used the lash primer my mascara stays put and even makes my lashes look better. This mascara did curl my lashes very well without a curler and very volumizing. This product retails for $24.
Cab Cosmetics Lip Duo: Next up was something I hoped to get and that is from CAB Cosmetics. I never heard of this brand until this was sneak peeked on YouTube. This is a lip liner and gloss duo that can be either worn alone or together which makes me happy on that part since I do use lip liner more with liquid lipstick to help them stay put more on the lips. This duo retails for $40.
Smashbox Photo Finish Setting Spray: Final item is from Smashbox! I was hoping to get this also because I am collecting items for a video on Smashbox for my Beauty Forgotten series and glad to get this here so I don’t have to purchase it! This helps make makeup stay put for 16 hours and is supposed to a comfortable wear without being sticky and also its high performance with the spray. I will definitely put this to the test when I get to that video and glad that I got this in my box because I don’t have to pay the retail price of $32.

So, this box was okay. I kind of felt like my box was thrown together with random stuff besides my choice as in the ere like, “Let’s throw this in! And this item! And this thing!” I don’t feel that this is a reason to cancel though because there are really good items I do get and glad to try new brands I haven’t gotten to try yet like Hank & Henry, now CAB, and have enjoyed other items from existing brands I have tried that I can’t always splurge on. I have seen people cancelling due to the items they have gotten and not being able to use. I know that feeling since I’ve gotten lashes twice and had to email them about it due to not marking them. Here is the thing, Ipsy, since I am also subscribed to them, always or gets my profile sometimes correct with what I pick and then get the other four items. BoxyCharm, on the other hand, feels like they hardly look at the quiz in the first place like what had happen with the Cover FX pallet a year ago where some people who fit in the certain skin tone categories got the wrong one. I’m hoping that the Medium Tan BB Cream is not too dark, also that the face wash doesn’t break me out. July’s choices were nothing but serums so hoping the next box will be better since we are technically in summer and yes having a nice BB Cream does help but they need to match skin tones right. I am still happy about the other three items though.

I did forget to mention! The item that FedEx inspected was the Smashbox Setting Spray because when I opened my box when I brought it inside I saw the box was open and knowing with sprays they do inspect those and wishing they weren’t jerks about it and open my box like they did. It’s like they think it may cause an issue, I understand that we have to be wary about what’s going around and being sent but seriously not cool!

That is it for this post. I was also supposed to get my Glam Bag but it ran into delays again! Hoping I do get it tomorrow or Tuesday! Until next time!

The Book Quadrant: To Sleep In A Sea of Stars by. Christopher Paolini

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with a new book review!

To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini

Disclaimer: This partial ARC was given to the lead writer of this blog to review. Please respect her thoughts and opinions that are in this review. Thank you!

Kira Navarez has always hoped to explore new worlds but one world has given her a nightmare she thought she would live. While being on a planet in a system ripe for colonization by humans she ends up falling onto a relic that causes her to change into something that no one has seen before that may lead to the annihilation of the human race and she is the only one to keep it from happening.

Thoughts: When I saw that this was written by Christopher Paolini I was surprised. I have read the first three books in the Inheritance series and still on the fourth one on one of my Victor Reader Streams and when I read this I was amazed how much his writing has changed. I know he was a teenager when he wrote Eragon and I have a feeling he is in his twenties or early thirties by now writing this book and I was happy to read a partial ARC of it. This book kind or reminded me of Event Horizon with a mix of Alien or Prometheus depending on how you see it when this book comes out around September. I did like how he started the book with the voyage with Kira and her team since this was important to start painting the picture and how Kira started to change. As in the mission that changed her to how she loses herself and the teammates closest to her, then to her being alone in the universe. I did find it interesting how the parasite is more of a suit rather than just a virus like how Sam Neil was infected in Event Horizon since his consciousness was being controlled and manipulated when Kira is still conscious and being able to control herself. At first, when she first got infected with her first encounter, I had a feeling that something was going to happen to her and that it could kill her with how Paolini made it sound. I may have to buy the book to read the rest of this because when it dropped off I was hoping her travels on the Valkyrie to get to 61 Sydney, which is in the Wayland System, and how she would deal with things and the remaining crew from the military from the quarantine ship. I also hope this turns into a short series too because I can see this may require a sequel if Paolini hasn’t started on one yet.

Rating: 5 Star Paw Prints Out of 5! For a partial ARC this was a good one! I liked how the story was set up with the mission starting off good and then it went to crap once Kira fell into the relic where a crashed drone was located. I feel that this may be a series because we are going to be facing an alien race that may threaten the human race or maybe Kira is just going to be the next Eragon by being the hero and having to use the military at her side to take on what may be coming after her for the suit. It looks like I will be buying this book, heck I would even get it on Audible to see who gets to read this book since I’ve been enjoying that service on my new Kindle that I purchased this month. Let’s see how this one goes.

That is it for this book review! I know it’s short since it was a partial book after all and hoping I will get the book once it’s released in September since one of the other Dresden Files books is supposed to drop at the same time which I am happy for since it’s been five years since Skin Game! Anyways, what’s next? June is right around the corner so stay tuned for more posts!

Subscription Satelite: BoxyCharm May 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast nerd universe! I am back with this!

BoxyCharm May 2020!

My last box for the month and that is BoxyCharm! Best saved for last and this box is $25 a month and you get five full-size products from prestige to luxury and they range from skin care to makeup to lifestyle. Let’s see what I got this month!

ELEMIS Dynamic Resurfacing Pads: First is my choice item for this month and it’s from ELEMIS! I have been enjoying this brand so far and when I saw these I had to get these to try out. These pads have the tri-enzyme formulation with lactic acids and probiotics to help smooth the skin to reveal a luminous complexion. This sounds like the First Aid Beauty ones and I like those since I got the travel size in this box which I bought and then when 21 Days of Beauty came I bought two of the full-size pack which this is what I got this product in which is around the same size of the First Aid ones. These are pricier than those which the retail price is $59. Okay, this box is paid!
Studio MakeUp Eyes Ease to Wear Pallet: Next is an eye shadow pallet from Studio MakeUp. I remembered when I was not subscribed for two years and this brand was in the box and wanted to try them and finally get to since I got back in last year. This shadow has shades that compliment every skin tone and has a creamy texture to them and gives day to night looks with one swipe and easy blendibility. I will have to see with this pallet since I’ve seen some shadow pallets where I have to dip in more than once so I will see what happens. Plus, this pallet smells really good, it reminds me of the scent of Tarte shadows. This pallet retails for $35.
Pretty Vulgar I Am Caged Shadow Primer: Next is an item from Pretty Vulgar and that is their eye shadow primer. I saw this tube and was wondering what it was and glad that it was this! This is a lightweight and blendable formula that helps smooth lids and make shadows pop. I can’t wait to try this product out because I have been switching out eye shadow primers and glad I get to try this one while I’m doing that. This retails for $22.
Appeal Ultra Crème Liquid Lipstick: Next is a liquid lipstick from Appeal Cosmetics. I thought this was a mascara so I have to fish it out of my giant Caboodle. I do love liquid lipsticks and glad to try this item out from Appeal. This is a luxurious and creamy lipstick with a satin sheen, also only one coat is needed. I will have to see how that goes because the Tarte Sugar Rush lipstick claimed the same thing but did have to dip in another time. I have to see how this works out since there are formulas that can be drying and uncomfortable while other ones are very comfortable, stay tuned for my Round up Review! This retails for $21!
Tarte Magic Micellar MakeUp Remover and Cleanser: Final product is from Tarte Cosmetics and it’s their Magic Micellar MakeUp Remover. I have been getting back into cleansing waters where I use them after using my makeup wipe to make sure everything gets off my face since there are times where I have mascara sticking behind on my lashes and that can be annoying. Let’s see what this says! This item removes the hardest to remove makeup, even waterproof, and excess oils without stripping the skin. Can’t wait to try this out! This retails for $18.

Okay, this month was a really good month for BoxyCharm! I got items I would use and get to try out since I have enjoyed some of these brands already. ELEMIS already had my choice with the facial pads since I wanted to try more items by them but their prices are a bit on the high side so glad to try this when I pay for the box. I have been enjoying the items from Tarte which I’m glad to get a Micellar water to try out and an eye primer from Pretty Vulgar on top of it. I get to try out more Appeal and finally try out Studio MakeUp! All in all a really good month! Can’t wait to see what June brings since there are possible products to come! Can’t wait! I do have a tag post coming up so stay tuned!

Subscription Satelite: Glam Bag Plus May 2020

Hello to all of you beautiful nerds and welcome back from traveling the vast universe! I am back with another post!

Ipsy Glam Bag Plus May 2020!

It is time for my Glam Bag Plus guys! I got this with my Glam Bag which is a first. As you know last month it traveled away from home but this month it came early even with an add-on. This tier is $25 and you get more full-size products to try out and it’s a good way of replenishing some of the items you’re running out and trust me I’m happy for this subscription since there are times when some of my skin care items are running low. You get from indie brands to luxury and it’s good to try those through this when you only pay the $25 versus the retail price. Let’s see what I got!

Beauty For Real High Def Mascara in Black: First is a product from Beauty For Real and that is their High Def Mascara in black. I love getting to try mascaras from brands I already have tried through subscriptions or from newer brands. I’ve tried a few items from Beauty For Real and I think they’re okay but when I saw this in my box I hope it’s good since mascaras can be hit or miss. It claims to be long-wearing and smear proof and also fast way of getting your lashes voluminized, long, and curled and the wand fits any lash length even really short ones. I can’t wait to see how those claims come true. This retails for $19!
MOTD I Got It Five Piece Brush Set: I almost chose this when it was Choice Day but glad I got it in the box anyways. This is a five piece brush set that is both matte black and rose gold, you know I am a sucker for rose gold since it’s my favorite metallic color, and it has the brush name engraved on each handle to tell you how to use it. I did my video on a brand yesterday and I admit I wished the brushes had a better way of telling what these are for since I can’t see them, I think I used one of them for my crease and another one for my brow due to how small they are. I think these are more of detailed brushes rather than full on brushes. I think I should contact this brand and ask about a Braille letter which would be kind of cool. Anyways, these are pretty soft brushes and not going to lie and the set is small enough to travel with so if you’re going for a business trip or a convention these would be a great companion! These retail for $34.
Colored Rain Cosmetics Vineyard Soiree Pallet: Next is a pallet from Colored Rain and this was almost my choice item but then chose the other item. I had a feeling this would be chosen for my bag this month if I hadn’t chosen it. I like how sometimes they put in items you haven’t chosen in the box since there are a few items in this box over the regular Glam Bag. This is a GB Plus exclusive and its limited edition which almost had me choose it but you will see why I chose the item when I did. This is a six shadow pallet with four mattes and two shimmers and it is a gray and berry pallet for that smoky look and you know you have me at hello with smoky! Even though I do the neutral looks but I do love my smoky looks and that has been a favorite since I started wearing makeup. Plus it is an easy to go to look for me. This brand will be on my MakeUp Meteor list which is my newest series over on the channel since some brands aren’t always on the radar and so far after trying out their liquid lipstick I am starting to like this brand! I know someone talked about the Chinese dupes thing but FYI a lot of brands do manufacture in China and I believe this is one of them. Anyways, this pallet retails for $22.
Sugar Rush Sugar Coated Velvet Liquid Lipstick in Sprinkle: Finally get to try a product from Tarte’s sister brand Sugar Rush with this liquid lipstick! I am even playing the song from Wreck It Ralph! Couldn’t help it because it popped in my head. This claims to be a matte drying liquid lipstick that doesn’t crack and it has sunflower seed and rose hemp oils to help with fine lines in the lips to help them be softer and only need one coat. Plus it’s a berry shade too. I smelled this and man it smells like cake frosting! I love cake and can’t help it. I have to try this out and see how I like it and I know they’re available through Ulta. This retails for $15.
Nomad Cosmetics Sidney Bathers Pallet: Finally my choice item is of course from Nomad Cosmetics! I just did a video on this brand and I have been loving them! When I saw this on the choice list for this box I had a hard time choosing between this, the brush set, and the shadow pallet but when I read the shades in this pallet it got my choice since it features two highlighters, one warm bronzer, and one cooler bronzer/contour shade. It also smells really good and it’s due to the macadamia oil used with the milled pigments for this pallet. If you’re vegan and want to find a new brand to try out Nomad is perfect because they are a vegan brand and use naturally sourced ingredients and oils for their shadows and face products. I want a lip product from these guys because trying out their items I want to see a liquid lipstick from them, I even said that in my video. That will come soon to the channel but in the mean time you can use highlighter30 for 30% off your highlighter pallet purchase from this brand and this pallet retails for $27.

Add-On: In Beauty Project Glaze #1 Lip Oil in Candy Apple: This is being replaced by Ipsy because it came moldy and I am not the only one who had it happen to either. Just_Ann talked about it in her Glam Bag Plus video where she got hers with mold and it got me worried since other people were commenting on her pinned comment that she got a response from Ipsy about it and they will be contacting the brand. I think it’s due to it not using any artificial ingredients since it uses all natural oils. This can happen with some ingredients where they can congeal which happened with mine along with the mold, thank you fiancée, and hoping with my replacement it doesn’t come moldy either. I want to try out more colored lip oils since my buddy Rayne has since our trip to Riley Rose two years ago. And of course during work my lips do feel parched when I talk or wear a lot of lip items. This retails for $15.

Well guys that is it for my GB Plus for May! Good bag with nothing but makeup! I do love my skin care but with this pandemic it has been what I’ve been buying the most especially my usual items. I can’t wait what is up for Choice for June since the choices for GB Plus are better than the regular bag in my opinion but there are times where it’s hard to choose if they’re really good! I will see how it goes when the 24th comes around! Next up will be my BoxyCharm!
